I like this place just fine. The sandwiches are Ok - nothing to write home about, but one cannot beat the $0.99 kid's meals!!

Sandwiches slopped together, haphazard packing of French dip au jus, half prepared nachos, did not make for a fun night in.( Au jus is difficult to clean up from an in bag spill...just saying) Tea was great, and food tasted fine, just a little care would have helped immensely! read more

TERRIBLE service!! My boyfriend ordered about a month ago & when he got there to pick up his food they told him they didn't have his food ready but they had just accidentally put it under a different name and was making a big deal out of it. A couple of weeks ago I placed an order over the phone and they told me 15 min so then i went to pickup and when I got there they told me they didn't have an order for me and that I prolly called the wrong mcalister's. After double checking they just decided to retake my order now that 30 min had gone by. They did give me my food for free that day but it's just annoying when you order food & 15 min later they "didn't take your order." Lastly today I placed a togo order with a guy after he took my order he immediately hung up and didn't say anything else, 2 minutes later i get a call from a girl saying how can I help you. And i was like I just placed a order??? So when I got there it took about 10 min to get my food in the drive thru and when we pulled off we realized we were missing some stuff. We went back snd they fixed it but that's 3 times that they've messed up our orders! So stressful!!!! read more

I love McAlister's more than most and am sad to say how displeased I was with my recent visit. Their phone lines are down so I could not order online and when I called, it would hang up on me. When I get there to place the order in person, they just simply tell me the phone lines have been down for a week or more now. Fine, no big deal. I roll with it. Then, I wait for my order patiently. He brings it out and has a bare plastic spoon all over the counter while he gets me a bag to put my soup and bread bowl in. Gross! When I get back to work to eat it, it is mostly water and very far from broccoli and cheddar soup. I was so disappointed because I really was looking forward to it as I am not feeling 100%. I'm hoping they are dealing with some things and will do better next time..... read more

For a month, I ended my work day at 5:30 and had a night class from 6-10 so I got McAlisters in the sad 30 minute gap of freedom between work and school. I was never disappointed- and I went 8 times! Not to mention the extra times I find an excuse to go. I order the veggie club and potato salad every time, with a classic sweet tea (who wouldn't get a sweet tea at McAlisters?). The service is prompt, food comes out quickly and they are so attentive. I always grabbed takeout, but when I have eaten here before servers are always around to refill drinks. Overall, McAlisters is my favorite deli sandwich in Lubbock. I really love eating locally but this is one chain that I have no problem giving my money to. McAlisters on 19th is always consistent with service, quality of food and a relaxing, QUIET atmosphere. Can't beat it! read more

Stay away! Dirty, sticky, and overall gross! Poor service and food! Bathrooms were filthy! One poor young lady was basically the only one working. The others stood around griping about how they didn't want to be at work. Saddest part is - the manager stood around visiting as well. Pathetic work ethic in this place. Apparently, McAlister's advocates laziness among employees and management. We asked a young lady to check the bathrooms because they were out of toilet paper and the floors were filthy. Slow, lazy, sloppy, unfriendly, and subpar in every other conceivable fashion. Stood in line for twenty minutes, with three people ahead of us. Then waited another 25 minutes for two sandwiches. Ordered water with no ice and no lemon, lady tried to put ice and lemon in both waters - I had to interrupt her and ask her to stop. Simply unprofessional and awful. read more

Both tasted like pre packaged, catering food, something you would get for a big conference, or at a dining hall somewhere. Horrible customer service, Phil you need to go back to your cave, or the forest or wherever you came out from, you are a horrible employee. When I order AND PAY, I want what I paid for, I don't want a sample of macaroni and cheese, I want a full cup of it. You take forever to give me the order and still managed to give the wrong and/or incomplete order. Worst McAllister's I have ever been to. I waited 25 minutes for my food at a FAST FOOD place. If I wanted to wait that long I would have gone to a real restaurant, not a sandwich place. Multiple employees standing around not doing anything, but somehow only one register is open. Normally I would write a review after I eat so my food doesn't get cold but instead I am writing this review before eating my food because my "hot" food came out cold and stale already. Also managers standing around doing absolutely nothing, and went to the same table several times, but never ours. I can tell my potato had sat in a window for a while, it's now rubbery and gross. I work in a restaurant so I try to give the benefit of the doubt, but this was absolutely terrible. Will definitely not be back. read more

We have always loved McAlisters but since they have made changes with new management service has been poor. We haven't returned since 2 months ago which was when they made changes. We decided to give it another try today. We waited in line for about 10 minutes. We finally placed our order waited at the table for about 20 minutes for our food. I feel that was too long for a fast food place. When our food finally came out my order wasn't correct I decided not to have it redone since I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes to get my food. I'm never disappointed at this place. The service is impeccable and the food is always fresh and straight to the table from the kitchen. From salads to baked potatoes to sandwichesand even chili, it has something for everyone. Their sweet iced tea is the best on the south! read more

Been here many times before. Usually very good. Not too busy when I came in. First time I placed the order, it was $24, instead of the $14 it should have been. It was funny to hear her blame it on "the machine". She had to ask a co-worker how to do it correctly. I know she wasn't new, I've seen her before. Took a really long time to order. Ordered a 2-fer, half baked potato and half sandwich and a piece of cheesecake. I asked for butter and ranch dressing for the potato. Butter came with the plate and was frozen solid. Ranch didn't get to the table until I was half finished with my meal. Sandwich was great. Pickle looked like it had been out of the jar for a week, limp and very dry. Server said 3 times (very loudly) that she would bring my cheesecake once they gave it to her. And when it came it had a chunk of ice in the middle of it as big as a 50 cent piece. If you love McAlister's, just ignore me. Honestly, I can't find a real big reason to come back, other than by force. The customer service is mediocre at best. When you walk in you have no idea who has ordered, who is just standing there waiting for the rest of their party, or who is waiting on a to-go or catering. The employees just stare waiting for the customers to make the first move instead of being the initiators. We came at lunch, but every single person in our party was told it would be 25-30 minutes, even for a BOWL OF CHILI! They seemed more intent on taking care of a catering order than assisting the customers who darkened the actual door. Which, on that catering note, they took up three seating tables with the catering order while in-shop paying customers milled around looking for a seat. It could have been a staffing issue or just plain poor planning on their part. Let's face it though, do I want to shell out $12 for a sandwich...there is nothing life changing here. And don't try and convince me of the sweet tea. We live in the South, everyone makes good sweet tea. read more

I really love the staff and management at this place! They really go out of their way to accommodate. The food is good, although to someone my age it seems a bit pricey. I can't get used to spending $10 for lunch. I'd say my least favorite part is ordering, mainly because of the free-style approach-indecisive customers standing around blocking the route to the cashiers. A friend took me here and claimed they were the best sandwiches in the world, but I actually wasn't too impressed with this place. The environment is awesome, probably one of the cleanest and fanciest sandwich places I've ever been in. They also have a great selection with a variety of options. It's not just sandwiches, soup and chips here: baked potatoes, nachos and meat loaf are also on the menu for those who don't particularly feel like eating a sandwich. If you focus purely on ambiance and taste, it's a great place, but... I simply can't justify going here much with their prices. They're relatively high; expect to pay more than $10 if you're also ordering a drink. Furthermore--and this is just my personal preference--the make their sandwiches too tall. I like to be able to actually bite into my entire sandwich at once, not nibble at it bit by bit, so when I can't get the whole thing in my mouth it annoys me. I had to take some of the toppings off just to be able to eat it. It's a nice place to go to occasionally, but I'd much rather go to Quiznos or Jimmy Johns any day. read more

I see him a lot when I go and he always is very upbeat and he gave me a drink on the house one time when my order was taking long. Service is wonderful. The Veggie sandwich (not the veggie club because it comes with avocado and I'm allergic although I'm sure it'd be delish) is soo incredibly refreshing. It's not like Subway where the vegetables are like mush and all taste the same. You can really differentiate the various ingredients and although the parmesan dip is proooobably extremely fattening, in moderation its fabulous. Good service is important to me and I felt well taken care of during my entire visit. This was my "second pass" at this McAlister's. The first time was around noon and there was a line I thought might take too long because I was very limited on time. Today I found out why people were willing to "wait". The line went quickly and the person who took my order was very friendly and helpful. He rang me up and gave me a number and I found a nice high-top table near a window. I wondered about silverware since I had ordered soup and a grilled chicken salad. My order came out in about 5 minutes and I needn't have worried about the silverware as the server brought everything I needed. The salad was fresh with the dressing on the side so I could use only what I wanted. It was a huge amount of salad served on a very large plate. They were also generous with the grilled chicken. The soup was about the perfect temperature to eat without scalding my tongue. I would recommend the potato soup. It was quite tasty. The waitstaff checked on me after a few minutes to see if I needed anything. I felt like there were so many staff members that if I needed anything, I could ask and they would quickly take care of it. This was a great lunch experience and I look forward to my next visit. read more

First I would like to say that the management is a poor excuse for management. Standing around doing nothing, there was 1 person in front of us in line to order and 1 register open. Slow employees. Good took over 20 minutes. There were MAYBE 3 other tables in the restaurant. Manager saw we were annoyed and turned around and walked away. Made eye contact several times and he just turned around and walked away. HORRIBLE customer service. Food was mediocre at best, you could tell it sat under a window for a while. I guess the employees were too busy mopping and doing absolutely nothing to run food. I work in a restaurant and my managers would kill me if I gave service like that. Every other restaurant in Lubbock has managers who can do their job. Highly dissatisfied, and will tell everyone I know to never come here. We found this place after spending the day with my son at the hospital and it was late and we were starving. McAllisters hit the spot! Quiet atmosphere, friendly staff, and awesome food! The guy at the register helped me carry the food to the tables when my husband was helping my son. We will definitely eat here again! read more

Everytime we go the food is good. The service is quick and we enjoy the fact that folks are always asking if we need anything.

This location is NEVER clean. The floors of the restaurant are disgusting as well as the counters and tables tops. My utensil was dirty when it was served with my meal. My food was brought out and about 20 minutes later my companies food was brought out, and I was completely done eating when they were served. Lastly, a hair was found in my friends food. read more

Ordered online and it was my first time going to McAlister's, and I was not disappointed. Online ordering was quick and easy, and when you walk in the employees are all friendly and helpful. I like that they repeat orders back to their customers! I ordered the choose two: southwest turkey melt and broccoli cheese soup. The sandwich was so good!! I wish it had a little more guacamole but it was still a good sandwich. The soup was good too, but there's better broccoli cheddar soups out there. I also got a sweet tea, and I see why they're known for it here. It's amazing! Overall this was a great first experience and I'm sure I'll be back! read more
