My parents recommended McClain's after purchasing 2 travel trailers from them in OKC. After doing extensive online research, the Rockwall location had the travel trailer I was looking for and on sale. My sales representative was David Campbell and he was fantastic. He was extremely personable and friendly despite the temperatures being in the 90's. He showed me the trailers I was interested in seeing and discussed the pros and cons of each model. The sales process was extremely efficient and it wasn't a "hard" sell. He was even nice when I stopped by again to look at it before we closed on the final paperwork, even though it was time out from him showing to new customers. Jerry Hughes went through my walk through with me and was outstanding as well! He was patient, personable, showed me everything possible on the travel trailer, and walked me through the operation and switches. He took his time and didn't rush me and answered all of my questions. He also helped me pick out the important accessories that you need when you first purchase a trailer. The financing was a little trickier and is the only reason for not giving the location 5 stars. I ended up financing with my credit union for a better rate. I originally started the financing process with McClain's but the initial interest rate was far higher than the credit union and I wasn't notified of the better available interest rate before the closing date. I had issues with the Business Manager when I came back to close on the trailer because of this and the waiting to close took an extraordinarily long time. My overall interaction with this person was extremely frustrating. Despite that, when I emailed the owner about the issue, I received an immediate and professional response to my concern that indicated that McClain's cares about their customer's overall experience with them. read more

Went to McClain's RVs a few weeks ago trying to decide if we wanted a travel trailer or a motorhome my experience was not a pleasant one after driving an hour and a half we got to look at a few mostly sit at a table with a salesman going over stuff.. you guys really need to treat every person as a future customer I like to go around by myself to try to figure out what I want I felt like the salesperson didn't want to show us much because we weren't buying that day I promise we will be buying in a few months and I will not be back to McClain's .. you guys seem like it's more important to find out how someone is going to finance and y'all take way too much time with that and not enough letting the people see what you have to offer in the way of motorhomes ,travel trailers and so on...the salesman made me feel like I was wasting his time and he didn't listen to what I said I wanted he went directly to used motorhomes I didn't want used... read more

Our fifth wheel broke down near Rockwall and Nathan from service waited for us to get to him on a Friday AFTER HOURS! He went above and beyond for us. The entire service department treated us like valued customers and did our repairs (which involved getting approval from the manufacturer) in record time. I highly recommend these guys! read more

My loan was not approved by the bank for a certain amount. They refused to give me my down payment back and was trying to force me to buy another less expensive RV. They said I signed a contract. I did, but that was on the unit I wasn't approved for. Not my fault. read more

They want your information before they will let you look at RV's. We are looking to downsize and get a class B. When we said no to giving John our contact information and started to walk out, John, the sales guy, laughed. We have been in there three times, the last two were in the service area. First time was to get a latch fixed on our Class A diesel pusher and then to see about some other work and the service guy laughed when we said we had a Gulfstream. We had to take our RV to RV Repair on 276 to get the latch to work. Lesson learned, will not be back...unless we want someone to laugh at us. read more

The explanation and delivery of the was very thorough. I need minor service on the camper a few months after buying it. I was in a time crunch. Their service department got it in and out. We purchased a KZ Travel Trailer from McClain's RV of Rockwall in 2017. Our salesman was Nathan Honzell and he made the buying process very simple. Recently we had some issues with the seals around the camper windows & doors and Ben Harris is the Service Department stepped up and made sure the problem was fixed. KZ offered a solution that made things look even worse and Ben worked with KZ to get it done right and still return the camper to us on time for our next trip. I bought a rv at mcclains in Rockwell Texas. After 3 different contracts( because they didn't have a clue as to what unit I had). 3 different vin# later I didn't get the unit I put my deposit on! They had no clue what they gave me. Just sent me on my way ! While doing my final walk through they were eagerly working on the unit to get me in my unit by closing time . I went back in the sales office with the sales manager and signed all paperwork and heard all the promises of the awesome packages I bought. Well Steve tells me I'll have to bring my unit back by because they didn't get the multi seal tire stuff installed in the tires. Just bring it by when you get a chance. lol Well I took the unit back for warranty work window was leaking like a faucet every time it rained and the tires needed the multi seal and a few other water leaks from the water inlets not being properly sealed. I told them to fix the missing door trims on both doors to many issues to deal with well after leaving it from open to close after being told the day before to bring it at open and they would fix the problems lol. I still have the leaky window and the missing trim no multi seal in tires 1000$ I might add for the cost plus interest ( it's included in buying price) now the general manager calls me last Thursday and says he is gonna get me taken care of. All I've heard for a week is crickets!!!!! This place is a joke and I'm sure if you go there to buy an r v you better take your attorney because these people are the definition of scam!!!! read more

I bought a KZ sidewinder 2017. IT took all day to buy it and then I still couldn't take it home. So they delivered it and wrecked it in my drivewayTook 3 months to get it repaired and even then it wasn't repaired correctly. So the auto jacks have never worked right. The service department is the most inept service department I have ever come across. The customer service at Maclains in Rockwall is beyond disappointing. The list goes on and on. We bought a new Connect 281 Here is what has gone wrong in the first 4 months of ownership. We got it in June 2018 I'm just getting around to reviewing it. The oven has never worked The microwave stopped The gas valves were not hooked up to stove burners The window in bedroom leaks when it rains Outdoor kitchen so poorly put together we used it put it away, left for a while, came back to a flooded trailer. Kitchen faucet separated from counter Kitchen counter separating from sink causing water to go under cabinet. I had just bought a class C from McClain's RV Superstore and realized I didn't know how to check the tire pressure on the dual tires or how to add air to them. They offered to show me how if I brought it in. Nathan Honzell and John Oster went above and beyond to help me out. I felt silly thinking that this should be easy because it "was just a tire thing", but they showed me it was a little more complicated and helped me with the service and inflation even though I didn't have an appointment. I have been incredibly impressed with the service department. We are new to the RV scene. Sierra, our service advisor, has been incredible. For example, when we brought our RV in for a service, she climbed on top without being asked to make sure we had not missed any damage while we were still under warranty. I had told her I did not want warranty she said said it was not included in my loan and down payment, its was free, and keep insisting me there was no charge for it. Mc Clain's RV Superstores are located throughout the metroplex. It appears they have the market cornered on RVs because the website and the actual site itself has hundreds of RVs. So I was pretty excited to go and check out some of the models I had admired on the internets. So we walk around the showroom looking around and a salesman comes up to talk to us after about 10 minutes looking around on our own. Imagine the typical guy that sells you a car and you know what I'm talking about. He wants to know what I'm looking for. He wants to know my "timeline" for "getting in one of these campers". Immediately I knew this was going to be more of a hard sell pressure situation. After I told him what I wanted to see he said he would go get his coat. So he did, but before we went out he had us look at a "special price" camper in the showroom. Fine, it was nice, but I want to see the others. But after we looked at the one in the showroom he just basically said thanks, let us know if you want to buy that one, see you later. So he's NOT going to take us to see any others He said, "Oh, none of the other ones have the features that you are looking for." Really? None of them have a queen or bigger bed and a slide out and gas stove? Really? Online you had hundreds and here you just don't have any to show me. Basically he figured out I was not buying today so he showed me the one they are trying to move ("This price is the best you'll find. I'll be surprised if it is here later.") and basically told me to get the fuck out and stop wasting his time without actually saying it. Nice. I'm sure they have people there that operate differently than this guy...but, well, I got this guy so that's the impression I have of this place. So to the smarmy guy at Mc Clain's....I AM going to buy a camper and I will be DAMNED if you get ANY of my hard earned money that I plan to spend. read more

First let me say Sales staff was great. That said management and service don't follow through on what they promise to do. We bought a used fifth wheel only 5 years old. Was supposed to have gone through full inspection (PDI) prior to pick up. Went to sign papers and pick up, hooked up started going in parking lot, decided to test brakes to make sure they were good, found out they almost sent me down the highway with no brakes on a 10,000lb empty weight trailer. First problem, told them about they fixed, but took 2 or 3 days before we could pick it up. Picked up took out for weekend to test it out, found multiple things that weren't fixed or checked. Took back, took another week fixed an exterior light, re-inspected, (PDI) everything, gave me a copy of the checklist. The toilet didn't seal, their test said it did, it still don't. Checklist said all dump valves work on holding tanks, they leak. The rear a/c wasn't cooling properly they found dirty filter that the first (PDI) didn't check or clean, at least the front light works now and air cools. But don't see any reason to take the trailer back for toilet again or faulty holding tank dump valves. Told them there was a problem and 2 (PDI) Inspections by certified mechanics can't find a problem that is simple to see, water don't hold in toilet seal, and if hose isn't connected to dump site water runs out of tanks onto the ground right passed closed dump valves sadly not rocket science and in no way did they test those tanks. I don't recommend buying a used trailer here. read more

Started our Travel Trailer shopping here. We've been going to shows and discussing for a while. We know we want to buy next spring. The counter girls we pleasant enough but the sales person they handed us off to needs lessons in rapport building! Mere seconds after intros and a flip response to our purchase plans he takes a phone call on his cell! I'm literally mid-sentence and now standing waiting for someone who presumably wants my money to finish his call! I walked to two showroom trailers and back before he completed his call. When confronted he told me it was a family call. Courteously hand me over to someone else or quickly tell them you'll call them back. I will not make my purchase at McClains. read more

Brought my pop up camper in to have the wheels looked at, electrical problem diagnosed, and an insurance claim for hail damage completed. They charged me for a battery replacement I didn't authorize, over charged to repack wheel bearings, over charged to replace an exterior shower I explicitly asked them not to do and still haven't provided a quote to replace Vinyle they told me they would give me a quote for. Oh yea and I never got the quote they promised for the insurance company. Not good. Unless you have a brand new rig for Them to service I suspect your will be treated very bad. read more

Our salesperson Clint was very good even drove out to our house with an RV that we were seriously considering. "Considered" too long and they sold it to someone else. So we looked again and Clint was most accommodating and even advocated for us to ultimately get a very good deal on our Winnebago Forza. However, that was where the good service stopped. The service department is a joke except that Ramone tries really hard to give good service. He even came up on his day off when we took the RV out for a long weekend while it was with them waiting on parts. BUT, we've had the RV for 7 months and it's been stuck there so long that we haven't even had it in storage! They claim to fix things and it's not. Or it's fixed but then breaks/falls apart again. We were told that we would be at the head of the line since we bought our RV there but the last time it was there they didn't even look at it for 3 days! And trying to get any communication from the service department is a joke! You might as well be putting a call into a black hole with the response that you usually get! Do NOT do business with this joke of a company! We absolutely regret buying from here and wish that we would have looked a little longer and further away. I even called the manager wanting to complain about the lack of response in the service department AND NEVER GOT A CALL BACK FROM HIM EITHER!!! Going to see if we can get warranty work done at another RV service facility in the future so we don't have to deal with this horrible establishment anymore. read more

We purchased a new trailer from Rockwall location in April 2021. When we picked it up it had been raining. They had it in an outdoor shelter, but we had to walk thru mud that had washed in to inspect it. We were shown a checklist of all the items they had "inspected". The tire pressure was supposed to be 65PSI. When I checked it cold the next day one was 57 one was 74, and the spare was 55. The first time we used it both sinks leaked and I had to tighten the drains. The brakes did not seem to work like I thought they should and the guy looked at it and said they were self adjusting and would correct itself. I changed out the Chinese tires at Discount Tire and the guy changing said one brake drum was very hot and the other one normal. One brake was dragging badly. I called service and we had to argue about getting in to check the brakes and they said a month at first. After arguing with them because we had a long triip planned in 2 weeks, they finally agreed to look at it 5 days, but said if it needed parts they couldn't guarantee to fix it before our trip. We were told if we bought a camper there we would have priority service. I hate to see their non priority service. read more

Stopped here while traveling due to a bent sway bar receiver. Was told since I didn't purchase my camper from them they wouldn't help replace the bent bar I needed replaced. Guy in service was more then willing quoted me $150 to weld some steal onto my tow hitch for the sway control but when he asked someone else first thing asked was if I purchased my camper from them when the answer was no was told to drive down the road to another place. Not a great experience. Luckily was able to travel down the road to get what I needed and tools to do the job but turning away business from your "service" department seems like bad business practice. So if you are traveling and need something done by service I would recommend not stopping here because they will only tell you to go down the road. "Policy" is if you didn't buy your camper from them they won't work on it. Lame. read more

I did feel that the finance manager tried to pressure me into buying a service contract, as if that's how they were making money, but that's probably normal in many businesses. I bought a 2018 KZ from McClains in Rockwall. The salesman was very nice and helpful. After taking possession of the trailer I needed to take it back for the Eco spray and some minor warranty work. After almost a month and me calling to check on the trailer I get a call telling me the trailer is ready for pickup. I go to pick the trailer up and nothing had been fixed besides one scratch on the outdoor kitchen door. They had not done anything else besides damage the trailer. They said that their lawn care people must have damaged it when they were mowing. I would not take possession of the trailer as they suggested because if I would have the would have probably said I damaged it and refused to fix it. They said it would be another two weeks to get the parts in to fix what they had damaged. I called and checked the status and still no direct answer. I have called the corporate office and spoke to Tom Titus and he said that he would call me back shortly. A week later I still have not received a call back. I then called and emailed the General Manager, Scott Terry, whom I was told was Mr. Titus' boss and the only person above Mr. Terry was Mr. McClain himself. I still have yet to receive a call from Mr. Terry and was told I could not have Mr. McClain's contact information due to a chain of command I had to go through. How does one go through the chain of command if no one will call me back? McClain's has had my new trailer for over a month and a half now and I have had to cancel two trips with my daughter now because I have not received my trailer back. Summer vacation has started for the kids and my daughter has looked forward to the trips that we had to cancel. The second trip is Fathers Day weekend that we had to cancel. As a single father, my goal is to ensure my child has the best memories available and they are being dampened by McClain's. However, I am still having to make payments on a trailer that I do not have. I CAN NOT and WOULD NOT recommend McClain's to my family, friends or co workers. I also highly recommend if you want to buy an RV or Travel Trailer to make memories, seek it somewhere else besides McClain's. Update on this review: General Manager, Scott Terry, did return my phone call. He did seem a little upset about what has been going on and the LACK of communication between McClain's in Rockwall and myself about my trailer being held there for over a month and a half now. Mr. Terry did assure me that the parts and service manager "Otto" would be calling me and trying to make things right. "Otto" did call me and offered no solution and no incentive besides that the trailer is useable and come pick it up and use it. I don't believe I will take an incomplete trailer that is in worse shape than it was when I took it in for maintenance. Why would I do that and take a risk of them saying that I must have damaged it when I took it out over the weekend. Plus the Fathers Day weekend camping plans have been ruined and cancelled, because McClain's has done a horrible job on customer service and pleasing the customer and servicing a trailer. I asked "Otto" how much longer that they would have my trailer and he advised me that it would "probably" be another 2 1/2 weeks before the parts arrived. I was told two weeks ago that the parts would arrive in two weeks. Now, a month later and I still have not seen my trailer and am being told that it will be another 2 1/2 weeks before the parts are in. What type of circus is McClain's running. I called to speak with Mr. Terry about 3:25 and to no one's surprise, he had already left for the day. I am sure he is enjoying this Fathers Day weekend with his family in his trailer or RV that he has in his possession, unlike I do. I then asked to speak with Mr. Titus and was told he was busy with a customer and I could leave a message for him on his voice mail. What good would that do, he never has called me back from a week ago. Plus, am I not a customer? They have already made their commission from my sale so they are not that worried about assisting me in getting my trailer fixed and back. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM MCCLAIN'S!!!!! They are proven liars and scammers!!! I understand that my experience is with the Rockwall dealership, but I have spoken to the Corporate office and have received a little, very small amount, of help. However, if they allow this type of behavior in one dealership I am sure it is common practice in all of the dealerships. read more

We had a terrible experience. We are evacuees from South East Texas. We went in to buy an Rv to live in while we rebuild. Our sales person was William Skipper. Everything was great at first. We spent a good bit of time looking at RV's and found the one we liked. Went inside sat down and did some paperwork. We already told him we had secured financing with our credit union but wanted to see what they had to offer with financing and terms. We expressed that due to this urgent situation we do not have money for a down payment and that our CU ISN'T requiring a down payment. He tells us he will get everything run and just to hold tight. My husband said we are going to go grab lunch and come back while they do what they need to do and he said.. no this will just take like a minute to run. After almost 10 minutes he never came back. And we went to find him to say we are going to go eat and we would come back. And they had hubs driver license and we needed it back. Sales guy was no where to be found and the guy behind the financing counter named Steve Said oh are you..(hubs name). Hubs said yes. And Steve said oh yes your approved. You will need to put 10-20% down. And we told him we had already told the sales person we couldn't do that. So then Steve said well that's what you will have to do. So I asked for out the door price with tt&l so we can get financing info from our CU. And the price went up about $6000.00 not including Ttl! We left. I bought my Motorhome from them (used)! Super nice at the time but of course they were selling a unit. I have had it in twice for pretty extensive damage. The first time was to replace the awning and repair the paint. It was in from the Tuesday after Labor Day to just before Christmas 2016. The second time it sat in their lot for 52+ days waiting on an estimate! I finally picked up my unit without an estimate and took it down the road to Premier Park Place Service Center for an estimate of which I received in less than 24 hours. They were amazing to work with. The work was done within 10 days as well. I did finally get an estimate from McClains which was about 1K higher than Premier Park Place. I guess my expectation is that you should provide good customer service and I only got good lip service with a smile and zero action! I would definitely NOT recommend them if your expectation is that they service what they sell. read more

Purchased a 2018 Winnebago Vista in March and had the most unprofessional experience with McCLains. Had to bring it back for multiple issues and nothing was done. When I arrived to pick it up nobody could find paperwork and nobody seemed to care. The business office deceived me on the extended warranty by checking the coach only box instead of the motor home box and only changed it when I called to express my findings. Vanessa pretended it was a mistake. These folks are very unprofessional and have many complaints I was not aware prior to purchase. I wished I had read the reviews and did more home work. This is for the Denton location....I don't know about the others! I would give a zero if possible. After forcing me to wait a few hours with kids before the walk thru (which they never hooked to water) We were just ready to get on the way. So much they didn't do...propane tanks were empty...Thankful that our first night out was at a KOA in the Sanger location and they filled them. The place was disgusting....they never even vacuumed it out. We found earrings under the bunk mattresses, an inch of nasty from some ice pack leaking in the freezer, and the black tank registered as empty cause the poo pyramid was dried and built up, took us 4 full tank fills to rid the black tank of the previous owners poo that we had to deal with. After just two weeks we took it in for what was supposed to fixed and they acted all hurt because we wanted the outside spray ports to actually work! We took it in and when we got back they said the part was on the managers desk but he didn't deem it necessary to fix the spray port...after 15 minutes of me saying YES it IS necessary they fixed it after eye rolls...We asked before pulling it away for the plumbing to be sanitized...NOPE We are currently sanitizing the system to get rid of rotten egg smell. This list of why we would never recommend them keeps growing the longer we own our trailer. We do love the trailer, it would have been so simple for them to simply make a used trailer like new since I paid for it in advance of picking it up. On the two week maintenance under the 30 day warranty the awning that says adjustable on the sticker I was told it is not adjustable...yeah, because you put the wrong strut in....I am glad I did not buy the extended warranty....I would not take it back to them for anything. Buyer beware! Yes they do offer brands that most places in DFW do not offer, I wanted a Grand Design! But they will not follow through and get anything used up to quality, they will shortcut where they can. I love my trailer but I will call a mobile tech before ever darkening their door again. read more

I have been an RV-ER for the past 10 years, 5th Wheels. My wife and I have decided to change our approach and also to down-size to a Class C. I am a retired Engineer so I am very meticulous and detailed oriented when purchasing something of such a substantial Value. I have conducted my search over a 3 month period. In that period of time I considered over 9 different manufactures, and have been in contact with 10 dealerships. My wife and I have met face to face with the Sales department in 4 separate dealerships. On Monday 1/16/2017 we purchased a new 2017 Winnebago Aspect from McClain's RV in Rockwall TX, and traded in our current RV. We worked with the most competent, customer focused staff of all our buying experiences. Our Salesperson Joshua Love was very personable, professional and completely focused on our needs. After a phone call we set up a visit and outlined what we were looking for. Joshua prepared units for our inspection and was extremely knowledgeable about the units. If there was a question whose answer he was not sure of, he let us know, and found out the correct answer. In negotiating the deal: submitting a custom factory order for our new RV, and arriving at a fair Trade offer, we also met with the General Manager, Steve Dorgone. Steve was a pleasure to work with, once again focused on our needs and how he could provide us with a new RV and "a positive buyer experience". I am 70 years old, now retired and can NOT remember a more positive purchasing experience in my personal, or business career. Went in yesterday to get financing. Picked out a trailer and it took two hours to finally get to talk to the "finance guy". It was Monday so they were not busy. We were pretty sure we wouldn't be able to get approved but figured it was worth a shot. Well Steve Al-Zuraqi must've known it too because when they finally remembered we were there and had us go in and talk to him he just rushed us in and out with kind of a dismissive disinterested attitude. Next day got the run around and even lied to by one of the receptionists saying that neither Steve nor our salesman were in. Called back and pretended to be a new customer and found out they were both there. GM calls me back and tells me we were turned down but there's a small chance we could still get financed with more down and a different unit. Told him no thanks and we will not be back in a year when my husband retires and we use some retirement $ to pay cash for one. They treat you like crap there (not everyone, GM and another receptionist/sales lady were very nice and helpful) unless they know they're gonna make a sale. read more

Nothing is covered under the warranty, not even the things that when they sell it to they say "we will order it, you just bring it back in and we will fix it". Stay away! Do not trust the finance manager. he will lie to you also. anytime you want to get it serviced "We are 6-7 weeks out." Took 6 weeks just to get the license plates. and somehow that was my fault. I am a previous and current customer of McClain's in Rockwall. I bought a 5th wheel from them in 2009. The sales process wasn't all that bad (then). The best part of it was the briefing on the unit by the maintenance staff. From there, it goes downhill. When I brought the RV for a warranty repair the repair took over a month. This work was done ok, other than the time it took. Then I brought it in for an inspection. They told me the rubber roof had a tree penetration in it and had to be replaced. Insurance covered it and the work was done. When I got the unit back it was obvious there was no attention to detail and there is lots of shoddy work and mess everywhere. I've since found a different RV repair place that specializes in RV repair. That brings me to the current time. I went in to trade in my RV and a car for a very similar but newer fifth wheel. The salesmen were good. He took my trade-in info and told me they would call with a quote. I get the call and it seems like a fair deal (well below trade-in values but fair), so I go down later that day to finish the deal. While I'm making sure I have the unit that I want (documented offer in hand), they come out and tell me they are very sorry but they made a $5000 error on the trade-in values and ask for the documented offer back. So, the whole deal ultimately falls through. Either one of two things happened in this situation. First, they did make an honest mistake. Even if that were the case, their offer was well below trade-in on both vehicles and they should have stepped up and honored the deal. Especially for a repeat customer. The second alternative is that the whole thing is a scam. Either way, it just made me like I got cheated. So, if you are looking for a new high-dollar RV and a Park Place Lexus type of pampered customer treatment, you should probably try somewhere else. read more

The wife and I purchased a 2016 open range trailer in September last year used it once, took it to the dealer in rockwall in November and it been in the shop ever since, the flooring had soft spots under the left slide out, it starter delaminating at the left slideout now it's cracked in the delaminates area on the right slide out the same thing delaminating and cracking. When the service department removed the left slide they knocked a hole in the outer skin panel and damaged the fairing they said they will fix the mistakes openrange said to install expansion joints in the delamination area and in the cracked area. Now the dealership said they couldn't help me with my problem, they don't sell open range products because of the problems with soft flooring, and the problems with the company, no more trailers from McClain because you buy from them and you are on your own. They would not help to do a fair trade for another trailer. Guess they will get a supplies in a few days. read more

After waiting several weeks, the service department informed us their usual wait time is 2-3 months for repairs. We bought the RV from them only 6 months ago. After speaking to manufacturer, I took their advice and picked up my RV and took it to another dealership to fix my 2nd leak. read more
