I just paid $15 for two hotdogs and a small french fry. If I were on vacation at a resort, or getting a lap dance, or perhaps if the hotdogs and french fries had been mind blowing Lee wonderful, I wouldn't mind paying $15 for two hot dogs and french fries. The all the way sauce taste like sweet catch up with some hot pepper in it, the dogs were large and not bad in and of themselves, but five dollars a piece is crazy. And five dollars for a small french fries should be illegal. What possible rationale could there be for charging five dollars for frozen freaking french fries? It's just insulting. I've been visiting McCobbs from back when it was the Maple Snack Bar - maybe 40 years? I like their "all the way" Texas Weiners (with chili sauce, chopped onions & celery, and "skin-on" hotdogs fried in oil to give it a "snap" when you bit into it). They've expanded to be more of a "family" restaurant reflecting other tastes beside hot dogs and burgers and I don't care much about that. Some believe their prices are too high - which is true. 2 dogs, fries, and a soda will set you back about $10. The sauce has a rich tomato taste - as opposed to many other chili dog places with a browner-colored sauce. I personally like McCobb's sauce better and make it a "must stop" every time I visit town. I always require family to bring out a bottle of the sauce for me if they visit. (And I have two in my suitcase right now.) Personally, I think the sauce doesn't have the same "bite" as it did years ago. Might be that they did some ingredient modifications over the years. In the area so we decided to try this place out as my boyfriend used to go here as a kid. Oops. 2 texas weiners "all the way", 1 order "regular" fries, 1 "small" cheeseburger. Total bill = $26!? Dogs were pretty good, but ~$4.50 each. Fries were decent even though no seasoning at all (not even salt), but just a small cup for ~$7. Burger was a dry stale bun with a 1/4 lb patty and a piece of cheese (no tomato, lettuce, onion..)... ~$9! We forgot to order drinks but were glad we weren't prompted after we saw how much we were already paying. As others have said, no problem if paying for quality... but the quality did not fit the bill. Will not be back. read more

This place is a family favorite!! My family goes for their hot dogs and chili sauce... I prefer the chicken sandwiches and pulled pork. They have delicious crunchy fries, and we buy their chili sauce in bulk. And they have tons of great birch beers and root beers... i recommend the creamy red birch beer. And save room for the ice cream!! It is a welcome addition over the years. The servings are huge and every flavor is delicious. I like getting a combo of cookies and cream and mint chip. Stopped by for a quick bite to eat with a coupon from Local Flavor. The manager said he couldn't accept it because it was expired. We just purchased the coupon the day before ! The date was on the coupon and it was good until March 2018 !! Then he said we don't accept the coupons anymore. Then why are they on Local Flavor ??!!! He clearly didn't want us to use it. Came here for ice cream. My son wanted a soda and it cost $3.50!!!!!!! For 5 ice creams (kids sized sundaes) it cost $33!!! The kids menu is $9.95!! I'm shocked. I didn't have a problem with the price. The place was also very clean. Something to help the management: Put everything the customer would need to Enjoy your food, like napkins, ketchups, a knife, in the bag. This is a good local spot in Wayne, however, their prices are just ridiculously too HIGH so even though we live in Wayne we hardly ever go. I dread taking my 4 kids here because I end up paying $60-80 for basic grill food (burgers, dogs, cheesesteaks, fingers, fries, onion rings, etc). We could go to Hot Grill in Clifton and pay half the price or less Note: ice cream is excellent. They serve Gelotti's (from Paterson). Again prices are stupid high. While this place is one of my childhood favorites and thus a bit biased, I agree that the prices have gotten out of control. 4.65 for an all the way hot dog is simply too much. Their Cajun fries are very good but they should offer a smaller size and charge less. I imagine the typical patron orders 2 dogs with fries and a soda. This shouldn't cost close to 20 bucks. I always ask myself when I pass it, why don't I go there? Every time I swing into the lot order my burger, fries and soda I remember why. $16 bucks for a burger fry meal??? God forbid you want to add coleslaw count on a twenty! There is nothing negative I can say about the burger but nothing overly praising either. If it was worth it price no issue but it was ok. First, the pros: the chicken fingers are fresh and crispy. Ok that concludes the pros of eating here. Cons: if eating solo hit up an ATM before heading here. If eating with a family or larger group bring a credit card with a high credit limit. Everything is astronomically overpriced. The portions are small and leave a lot to be desired. The personnel seem bored are not friendly whatsoever. My Dad has been coming to this restaurant since around 1983 and he constantly took my brother and I here to eat while we were growing up and we still love going here for a bite to eat, we have always had an outstanding meal. Wow, this place is super EXPENSIVE. My lunch was $17 with no drink! Just a small dry pulled pork sandwich and order of fries, medium ($6.95!!!!! For plain fries!!!!!!) don't they know how much a potato costs!!!! Or care!!! I got cheese on the fries which was $1.00 extra and it was not worth it. Cheese had no taste, fries were under cooked. I had not been here in well over 10 years but was passing by and had to have a hot dog "all the way". I will say that it tasted just as good as it did the last time I stopped in. The hot dog was fried to perfection and the sauce was very good. I was definitely surprised at the prices, $4.50 for a hot dog is a little bit steep and I noticed the other items on the menu were priced quite high. Wow. Mcobb's. You are officially my first "1" Star review, and I am NOT ashamed to say that. My daughter, who is eight, loves the ice cream. I will gladly pay a premium for a better than average product. McCobbs does not offer anything near a premium product for the prices they charge. Until today, I had only gotten ice cream for my daughter, but I was in the area visiting my parents and stopped in for a burger and fries. It was 4:30 on a Saturday, and the weather was glorious. McCobb's was dead. There wasn't a single person inside or out back by the water. Thought it was odd, but was happy I wouldn't have to wait long, because I have seen how slow they can be. I ordered a cheeseburger and a SMALL fires. The total was 14.95. I literally put my money right back into my wallet, and told her no thanks. I've NEVER ever done that in my life. It's a through back fast food restaurant before the Golden Arches that said the Texas wieners fries and shakes are terrific, and the sauce they make is awesome. This will be the last time we order from this restaurant. Twice in last 3 months they have screwed up my order by completely forgetting an item ordered. Telling me to come in 20 minutes and food isn't ready for an hour and then making me pay for the item THEY FORGOT TO MAKE. Still waiting for my food that should've been ready at 2:40 and it's almost 3:10 because they forgot to make an entire burger. Came here just for some ice cream (since everyone RAVES about it). The homemade ice cream was really rich and creamy. The soft served was average - nothing to crazy. best chili sauce i have ever had....tomatoe base, not that brown chili sauce....a little tangy but delish....i allways get 3 sm hamburgers and a boylans birch beer....once in a while i will get one of thier deep fried dogs all the way.....food is a bit pricey but i allways stick w the sm thing.....place could use a bit of a clean up and painting but the toilets are very clean!! read more

People complain about cost here but you get what you pay for and McCobbs is quality. Everything is fresh cooked to order and we have never been disappointed in anything we have had. Hands down best fries around - big, crunchy, and not at all greasy. The pulled pork and chicken is moist and the BBQ sauce flavorful. Wings have just the right kick. Last night we ordered ribs for the first time and were blown away by the size - definitely oversized as stated (and quite tasty!) Love that you can wash it all down with a real birch beer or a fresh made thick shake. Ice cream is excellent (can you go wrong with ice cream from Gellottis?) and portions generous. McCobb's serves classic casual cuisine. Their prices are a little higher than fast food franchises, but their food is much better.
