I'm on a BBQ tour and unfortunately I've discovered the WORST joint in Florida if not the country. I'm not generally one to leave bad reviews but this placed sucked in a truly unique way. Please read on and consider spending your money at one of the other local establishments that actually cares about patrons. It was my day to. Ring to kids to the water park today and rather than overpriced pizza, we hoped to sneak out and get some sustenance and get back to swimming in about an hour. There are at least four BBQ joints near the Rapids Water park and this place advertised that they had been in business since 1977. They clearly haven't learned a damn thing about service in that time. There is no inside seating and there was nobody outside eating. I arrived at the same time at a threesome and I offered them the chance to order ahead of me. I ordered a pound of pulled pork and a rack of ribs since the brisket wasn't ready. Proferring $33 for a $25 order, I sat at one of the picnic tables and waited And waited and waited The people in front of me received their order, ate and left. People came up and ordered and it took about 20 minutes before their order ordered Arrived but mine never did. The staff lollygagged in the kitchen behind the dark glass and ignored their patrons. I made eye contact several times but there wasn't a flicker of interest from anyone who worked there. Finally after 40 minutes of fruitless waiting, someone from the kitchen asked if I was waiting for something. By this time, they didn't seem to have pulled pork anymore so I should have brisket instead. You would have thought that realising a customer had been jerked around, they would have at least made an effort to try and repair the damage... yet TWENTY minutes later I was still forlornly pathetically waiting for some food. Finally I decided SCREW THIS AND TO HELL WITH THIS CRAPPY PLACE THAT DOESNT KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT SERVICE... I walked away from the who damn order. You're a bunch a useless jerks and you can keep my $35 and stick it wheee the Sun don't shine. Your service sucks so badly I don't know how you stay I. Business. It can't be the food because you don't have it when it's needed and you can't make the effort to serve your patrons. I did make an effort to ask some other diners their thoughts and I was was told that the ribs are tough, they don't fall off the bone and the brisket is dry. So if you feel like paying good money for the worst service you are likely to come across combined with a fairly average bbq, then by all means this is an establishment for you. There are several bbq joins near here and rest assured they can't possible be any worse than what we have just endured at the hands of these folks. Listen up bozos. Ain't asking for much, just some honest bbq. But maybe you ain't heard, this takes a little effort, not least of all treating your paying customer in a way that makes them appreciate your efforts. The old restaurant adage comes into play here: a good experience means a customer will tell 1-4 people, a terrible one like this will have them badmouth the place to at least 11 people. The most unprofessional business I have ever come across. The first time I had the food I was pleased but I suppose it was on a lucky day because it was actual beef brisket compared to the pulled beef I got in replacement the second time? On top of that the Mac and cheese is severely over oiled. When you pick up the orders you are met with a rude staff and long lines. If you call and try to place and order you are put on hold for 5 min then hung up THEN the lines disconnected?! Like I said, wildly unprofessional and lack the quality of food to even act in such a fashion. It's a shame seeing as how with so little food business in the area, they would have potential. When you go, there will be a line. The brisket is worth it. I wish I'd gotten sauces on the side because the meat was great without the sauce. The hot has some spice and heat to it, but mixed with the mild and sweet is perfect. The mac and cheese was alright. I'm gonna try the other sides next time. read more

Could use some sort of customer service to help out. Acknowledging a customers who is trying to pick up an order is much better than staring at them through the window for 17 minutes. I went through the drive-thru last week and had a solid lunch. I ordered the Rib Dinner and got a nice heavy box. I prefer St. Louis cut spares but i was happy with relatively untrimmed spares. They had a nice bark, good smoke and moist where they needed. One of the Better ribs for sure in south florida. Sides(MaC and Cheese and Collards) were tired, maybe from the day before. They lacked pop. Ill be back for more ribs and hopefully get some sides that maybe didnt die on the steam table. read more

Went for lunch today - drove from Wellington to Mangonia Park. They had no chicken, no ribs, no brisket and only fatty pulled pork when we arrived. There is no inside seating and 45th street is busy, noisy and not conducive to a pleasant outside dining experience. We wanted to try their legendary ribs but this place is so poorly managed that almost nothing (no fresh sides - only leftovers) was available when they opened. We were told brisket was 2 hours from being ready but ribs would be ready in 30 to 45 minutes and chicken soon after. We all settled for a pulled pork sandwich, one was good and the other two were so fatty they were hardly edible; non of the three even lukewarm. The baked beans were ordinary and had no onions or bacon or sausage or flavoring of any kind and were served cold. The corn on the cob was cold, mushy, butterless and tasteless, and the french fries were cold, soggy and a VERY small serving, obviously left over from the previous day. The potato salad was excellent and the collard greens were tolerable but not well flavored. I did not like the coleslaw but that was a matter of personal taste. Several groups left because nothing was freshly prepared and the only meat available was old pulled pork. A very minimal amount of sauce was served and an additional micro-mini serving was 75 cents. A large diet coke was $3.25. This was a terrible experience and we were very disappointed because we were really looking forward to good bbq. The staff members were pleasant but obviously ill prepared to open today.......a really bad experience. The owners need to retrain or replace their management employees; who opens a bbq restaurant on a weekend with no brisket, chicken or beef? I think the food is generally better than it was today and that this was just a very bad day for them. I did not find the place dirty - it was clean and organized so their numerous recent health dept. violations appear to have been addressed. We will not return and cannot recommend it!!! read more

My husband brought home brisket and ribs..horrible. We threw it away. The ribs were so salty we couldn't eat them and the brisket was so over cooked it tasted like a bad pot roast. The potato salad is store bought and not home made, the Mac and cheese was horrible and tasted like it had old bay in it. The food was cold. I've eaten at mccrays many times in multiple locations and I was visiting town from Tampa at the new storefront location. I was so excited to see they finally got a restaurant. Stopped by for lunch and the quality of food has gone down tremendously. The price has gone up and both quality and quantity has gone down. This place is a rip-off. Spent $28 on two meals. I spent $16 for a rib dinner and $10 for a fish and fries snack box. The rib dinner had 6 rib tips, there wasn't even whole pieces of a spare rib or babyback rib. It's like they took a spare rib and cut it in half to make two pieces. So in reality it was 3 ribs cut in half to make 6 pieces. And the side was no lie a small scoop of rice and a small itty bitty cup of bake beans. The fish snack pack consist of one small piece of fried fish and a medium portion of fries. Yesterday was my first time at this establishment. I was disappointed to find the small eating area was an outdoor patio. It was a rainy day and the 3 of the 5 tables were soaking wet. I ordered the rib dinner with sides of fries and cole slaw. The Cole slaw was unremarkable and the fries were hot and tasty but the serving amount was jokingly tiny. The meat quality was very good and was cooked to perfection "st. Louis" spare rib style. (Not the fall off the bone baby back rib style). I ordered mild sauce which was yellow with a heavy mustard taste. I did not like the sauce which spoiled the enjoyment of the meat. My dinner had 6 pieces of ribs that were weirdly cut. It looked as if they cut each rib bone in half at an angle. So the dinner consisted of only 3 actual rib bones! I consider this $16 rib dinner very pricey for the amount of food it contained. I doubt it I return. If for some odd reason I do return I would get my ribs without their sauce and take it home to use my own sauce or a store bought sauce. read more

This is a roadside food truck, apparently always in the same location, with a white tent covering the front of this large, yellow truck. You can definitely smell the BBQ while waiting on line, which is torturous - especially since the smell is so good and the wait so long. They take their sweet time here, so don't expect to be "in and out" in a hurry. Once I got the food - wow! Very disappointed with my food.Ordered the ribs and received a mix of rib ends and sliced pork with a few ribs mixed in. Ribs were very dry like they were sitting around for days . Was not able to eat . I am an armature bbq smoker and am familiar with smoking ribs . This place doesn't put out a quality product . Very expensive as well. I would stay away .
