Cute location with the train boxcars that you can sit in while dining in. Like many others, we stopped in Barstow on our drive back from Las Vegas and hit up McDonald's. We weren't really looking for a drive-thru option because we all needed to get out of the car for some fresh air and stretch our legs. This location was a little different with it connected to a couple of fast food mini restaurants and some small shops selling very kitschy California / American items. Cute idea and location, but I felt that the entire location needs to be renovated. The restaurant and shop areas felt dark and dingy, not bright and welcoming as other California McDonald's that I've been to. Also, the bathrooms needs to be enlarged and spruced up due to the amount of people constantly pushing their way in and out of them, who didn't get the codes for them like we did with our cashier. read more

Wow just wow, no assistance with using the kiosk. Spent 50 on food, which was not the problem I was perfectly okay with that but the fact that I went up to an employee and ask for napkins he told me you have to order from the kiosk I said I would have to order napkins his reply was no you have to place an order to get napkins. I informed him that I did place an order and would like some napkins he then asked for my receipt wow I honestly just couldn't believe it over napkins not to include there were older people trying to use the kiosk and we're asking for help they were given no assistance there were people from different countries asking for assistance and were given none you have to be kidding me. read more

A McDonald's about halfway from LA to Vegas. Service is quite slow and I had to wait near 20 minutes for my order. What makes up for it though was the food was good. McNuggets were fresh and super crispy as well as the fish on the fish filet. Overall it's a good place to stop by for bathroom breaks and some food but expect to wait a bit. read more

We stopped by for a bathroom break. Their bathroom facilities aren't working. Really???!!! We ended up using the other facilities which does have a long line. After using the facilities, we went to get some ice tea, the same the line was so long. The people taking orders are kind of slow too. And Sweetened Ice tea is taking forever to be refilled. We ended going to the counter to ask for it. The sweetened wasn't that great. Next time, I'll check out other places. read more

This place used to be a fun spot to stop for a restroom break and a fast food meal & back on the road quickly. They've made it over in the gray prison style inside & out. The service is kiosk only and the 3 kitchen workers move like molasses in January and give zero for anything while 20 people stand around waiting for their orders for an inordinate amount of time. Nothing fast, friendly or efficient going on here. We stopped because we were in a hurry. If you are also in a hurry I recommend stopping elsewhere. read more

I'm not really sure why this location gets such bad marks. I found service great, employees friendly, food came out fast & tasty (& correctly), and the atmosphere is so unique! I used to come here a lot growing up. My dad just loved the thought of being able to eat McDonald's in a train car. Back then there wasn't much else there so I was a bit surprised at how much had grown around the location. It's kind of a shame honestly. I do also wish you didn't have to walk through the nick nack stalls jus to get to the entrance to the store. The train cars were clean and way more updated than I was expecting. I will admit that there isn't a ton of seating available, but I wouldn't say there is way less than your average McDonald's. It's just situated in a way where it is much more apparent than an average location. You are also forced to sit close to other tables given the confines of a train car's dimensions. But in the end, it's a fun experience. And it's McDonald's. Don't be going in expecting the most sophisticated meals/dinning area. Go in knowing you're going to get a fast food burger & the oportunity to eat it inside of a converted train car. It is what it is. If that doesn't sound appealing, then keep on driving. read more

One of a kind stop, with tables in old train cars with so much more than a bathroom stop. The line was long at McDonalds, so we took advantage of the fresh popcorn in this myriad food court, as well as the bathrooms. Chinese food is also available as well as trinket shops. It is a good stop when driving back from Las Vegas on the 15 or from Kingman on the 40, and very popular. Meet your fellow highway travelers. read more

I got a plain cheeseburger and small fries! Fries were so salty and raw I couldn't eat them Cheese never melted and bun so burned couldn't eat that either!!! Service was employees who only worked there since they had to for some unknown reason. They just stood there and visited with each other. Manager needs to keep an eye on his employees. Long waits, seemingly every order was wrong from what I saw (including ours), grumpy service, HVAC that leaves you sweating in the summer and freezing in the winter, and moat annoyingly, the food is already cold and stale by the time you get it despite the high volumes. Waited 30 minutes for a double cheeseburger, 2 hot and spicy mchickens and 2 large fries. Messed up our order gave us 2 double 1 medium fry and 1 dry no mayo or lettuce mchicken couldn't even make it right after waiting all that. Went inside asked for them to get me my other 1 spicy mchicken and at least 1 of the large fry's. They couldn't find my order. This place is genuinely so understaffed. They always get your order wrong. I have placed countless order through the McDonald's app in order to pick up my order in a timely manner and even then they still have you park out front and wait for your order. This McDonalds has high traffic due to it being a stop before you get into Vegas. This place need better management and plan for the high traffic it receives. read more

Stoped at McD Barstow to use the restroom. You need to the code to have access. This wonderful Mexican lady who was a worker opened it for me. Kudos to her. Since we were here on our way back home we ordered a cheeseburger combo meal with a coke. We weren't that hungry so my husband and I shared. Fries were okay but it tasted different. First things first... When I first walked in it was PACKED with middle schoolers. When I finally got to the kiosk which took 25 minutes, it wasn't working. When I finally ordered it I got NO receipt, not even an option for it. Now, I'm waiting for my order, it takes THIRTY MINUTES. It's Mc Donald's. You already know what's happening here. This one at the Barstow Station is no different in the food department. Either you like Mc Ds or you don't. However it is all about the location. Situated in a huge travel stop surrounded by a variety of mini unique shops and offering seating in old train cars. Service was fast. The staff was able to handle the lines. However, when it came to maintenance on the fountain drinks that was another story. 2 out of the 4 ice machines were down. 2 out of 4 Coke hoses were pumping nothing but carbonated water. When we informed the staff they recommended using the ones on the other side. Basically get ice on one side and Coke on the other. That soda though, just hits the taste buds differently. The floors out front are covered in filth and the person "cleaning" was pushing around a trash bucket on wheels that was leaking trash water all over the floor making it even worse. The staff is terrible! They have all orders mixed in complete chaos on the counter. The fries tasted like they were days old left in the warmer the burgers were stale. We got 2 cokes that they only filled 1/2 way; 1 tasted like straight syrup and the other tasted like chemicals. Worst McDonald's we've ever been to. To make a 45 minute story short here are some reasons for this review. If I could it would be a 0 star. -Took me 45minutes to get a simple order. - Everyone is at front counter almost pushing each other. - Only able to order via app or kiosk - found out they lost my receipt when they printed out and never fixed my food. I had to almost raise my voice to get some help. - no customer service given to customers at all - order was wrong and after 45- 50 minutes in waiting I could not come back and fix order just not worth the time. This is NOT our first experience with this McDonald's. Personally I don't eat f this place. This morning however we went to order MGRIDDLES NOT MCMUFFINS but they can NOT get anything right here. We ended up ordering 2 MGRIDDLES and a coffee. We came home with McMuffins and a burnt coffee. The customer service was terrible- they messed up my order and then questioned me about it in a confrontational and passive-aggressive manner. I was asked to pull forward, waited 15 minutes, only to be approached by the employee who basically confronted me about their own mistake. Unprofessional and rude.
