The best jalapeno cheese burger in the Universe…read more They get VERY busy at times, so be patient. The service here I have always felt in a scale of 1-10 is a 9 or 10. Pro tip : Call ahead for the burger, it's ready in 20 to 25 minutes. If there is a line to order / pay, stand to the left of the line for pay/ pickup. I don't believe it is marked as such ? Ambiance is not fancy, but clean.

NEWSFLASH.....THIS JUST IN ..LOCAL COUPLE HAS SUBPAR MEAL AT THE DAIRYBAR…read more Yep, that's right! My wife and I had a surprisingly bad meal at the dairy bar. We thought about using the drive-through but that line was extremely long with oversized trucks and SUVs and such so we decided to park and walk in ; the dining area was surprisingly not busy. Maybe three tables were occupied; we were able to order immediately. I ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings and a Sprite and my wife ordered a cheeseburger french fries and an unsweet tea with extra ice. Although the kitchen was preparing food for all the vehicles outside, we received our food in less than 10 minutes . I noticed my burger tasted a bit odd because the pickles and lettuce were quite chilled, and yet the beef patty seemed lukewarm at best and it did not even attempt to melt the cheese that had been placed upon it; same situation for my wife's hamburger. The cheese just sat there on the hamburger patty, not budging, not melting not getting gooey just sitting there. While her french fry order was hot and fresh, my onion ring order was rather lukewarm and crispy and yet also somewhat rubbery. Kind of weird for a fried product unless it had been fried and then possibly reheated in the microwave and served to me. It became obvious to both of us that the kitchen staff had simply pre-cooked some hamburger patties and set them aside and plopped them on hamburger buns and then they added the chilled mustard, lettuce, onions, and pickles. I hope that someone from the restaurant actually reads this review because across the highway I'd be willing to bet that there are several eating establishments that are about to go in providing us with more dining options.

We have noticed this place several times on our travels back and forth between our home NW of…read moreAustin and our grandchildren in Houston. I always try to be supportive of small, locally owned businesses everywhere I go. Look at some of my other reviews, it will bear this out. For once, it wasn't a Sunday when we were passing by and we weren't in a hurry, so we thought we'd stop for lunch. It looks like everything you'd expect for a barbecue restaurant. Everything rustic and country. There was a menu painted on the wall with no prices anywhere. They have a nice selection of sides in meats. My wife ordered the 2 Meat Plate with Brisket and Sausage, Potato Salad and Pinto beans. I was thinking about Pork Butt; however, when I saw it , I decided to pass. Strike 1! I ordered the Brisket Plate with Black -Eyed Peas and Coleslaw. When the young woman handed it to me, It had Pintos on it rather than Black-Eyed Peas. When I cited the error she indignantly snapped, "That's what you ordered!" Strike 2! (who argues with civil paying customers?) I said, " I'm not trying to be any trouble. I just want what I ordered." at which point the older woman told her to give me a side of Black-Eyed Peas, which at this point seemed completely academic. We found a table, found our way to the drinks and also to the Barbecue Sauce and various condiments. I really wish I could say that this was the best Barbecue that I ever put in my mouth but unfortunately, I have to say just the opposite. Strike 3! This is singularly the worst barbecue experience that I have ever had anywhere in Texas or elsewhere in the country. The Brisket was gray, dry, and there wasn't a smoke ring in sight. It was no better than the Pork Butt had looked to me, in fact it was probably worse. My wife loves Sausage and she is not as discriminating about it as I am, but she said that was the worst Sausage she ever bought from a Barbecue Restaurant in her life, and she's the lifelong Texan in this couple, not me. I see mixed reviews out there besides my own and I'm wondering if perhaps the problem here is just inconsistency with the food because other than that and the little service blip, this wasn't a horrible meal but it was pretty far from a good one. Sorry Nathan's, I so wanted to like you.

Nope, this is a swing and a miss for me. I ordered the 10 piece chicken with macaroni and cheese,…read moreand a DP through DoorDash. Disaster ensued. The chicken was very over cooked. I could taste a burnt, old oil aftertaste from it. Every piece of chicken had it. Even peeling off the crust didn't help much in getting rid of the aftertaste. The Mac and cheese had no cheese or sauce whatsoever. They literally just put cooked pasta, no cheese sauce or really even seasoning, in the serving containers I was given. That is why families are still buying Kraft Mac and cheese in the box, people. Even without the box, all I need to make better Mac and cheese is elbow macaroni, whole milk, and cheddar cheese (plus salt and pepper to taste). I would put the pasta and the whole milk into a pot and stir it on a medium heat until the pasta is cooked, then turn the fire off and stir in the cheese a little bit at a time, until it melts all the way. Season with salt and pepper to taste. It's not that hard. The Dr. Pepper I had to opt for (because they were out of sweet tea, and apparently not making anymore because of the shortened Sunday hours) did little to improve the situation. In fact, just made me less upset about it. It seems as the employees cared more about getting their Labor Day off than they did about my experience. I'm a first time customer. Chickens had to die for this. Both of us deserve better. If I get a hankering for fried chicken, I will just go to Brookshire Bros. I know it's better.
