They have SOME rotating international McDonald items so I came to try it out. They have a working McFlurry machine. I had onion rings and a McFlurry it was super good.
While in Chicago, I had the opportunity to visit one of the few McDonald's in the States that serves international meals. My Godmother works for McDonald's corporate, so we had the chance to explore the area and try some of the international foods served around the world. My heart remains close to McDonald's because it was my first job as a teenager, working at a corporate McDonald's where I learned about food service and presentation, as well as the importance of customer service. Today, I experienced this McDonald's location as a customer, and all I can say is that the place was spotless, the ambiance was welcoming, and it didn't feel like a typical fast-food place. The staff looked presentable, and the General Manager was walking around greeting everyone and ensuring everything was running smoothly. She came to our table and greeted us. The service was quick and efficient. We tried the McPops, which are soft dough mini donuts filled with Biscoff, hazelnut, or mixed berries. If you like munchkins, you will absolutely love the McPops. The dough was airy, the filling flavorful, and the powdered sugar gave a nice finish. These McPops are only available in Canada, Australia, Spain, Switzerland, and at the unique McDonald's at the headquarters in Chicago. I would definitely travel again just for these! My favorite was between hazelnut and Biscoff; I kept tasting each and mixing the flavors, almost like a Reese's combination. Additionally, I tried their McShaker Fries from Hong Kong smoky BBQ flavor, which came with a BBQ powder pack and a bag to add the fries to season and give them a shake to season them perfectly. Because the fries were hot, the BBQ flavor was a plus; it wasn't spicy, just very savory. We also had some pancakes, which are hands down the best pancakes of any fast-food restaurant; I can't resist having a plate of hotcakes. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance were a 10/10. Thank you, McDonald's, for a full 360-degree experience. Loyal customer.
Super friendly and clean McDonald's! Came for the global menu and only ordered from the global menu. I was told they rotate around every 12 weeks. I tried the BBQ shaker fries, the Kung pao mcchicken, and the mango curry mcwrap. The fries taste like lays BBQ chips flavor. It's quite nice but doesn't feel like a wow. The Kung pao mcchicken was really good. It's an elevated regular mcchicken with crissed crossed buns, 2 crispy peppered chicken patties, a sweet yet Peppery aioli-like dressing, and lettuce. I really enjoyed this burger. The mcwrap was really interesting. The mango curry was a sweet sauce that had a hint of curry spice, like a salad dressing-way. The crispy chicken, cool cucumber slices, and the sauce really brought them together. I enjoyed it for the novelty but it's not really filling unfortunately and at that price point. If you dine in, they bring the food to you and if you didn't order a beverage, they will automatically bring a cup with water. All the tables have wireless charging. The restrooms were spacious and clean! Highly recommend to come to try the global menu.
Located at Hamburger University, this spot has international menu items from around the world you can't normally get in the U.S. I tried the Sweet Chili McWrap and it was pretty good. Nice being able to try something different from the usual McDonald's menu. Clean restaurant, easy ordering.
First off, this isn't your normal McDonald's!!! It has a rotating international/global menu! Theres only one in the US and that's this specific one in Chicago next door to their headquarters. We ordered almost everything off the global menu. Did it taste super gourmet fancy? No, at the end of the day it's still McDonalds. BUT I will say that everything felt higher quality and it was such a fun experience overall. Cheesy Onion Burger-- Just tasted like a cheesy burger with caramelized onions. Not the craziest invention but hey it's really good for McDonald's. Kung Pao Double McChicken-- I've never seen such a pretty burger from McDonald's EVERRR. Look at how gorgeous the bun is. 2 chicken patties and very, very, VERY mild spice in the sauce. Pretty good no complaints. McWrap Mango Curry-- Ok this one was a flop in the sense that the mango flavor just really wasn't working for us. It's like tart and just ... weird. Smoky BBQ McShaker Fries-- WHY ARENT SHAKER FRIES A THING EVERYWHERE!!! It tastes exactly like potato corner in the mall. They give you BBQ powder and a paper bag for you to combine and shake up yourself. Super fun 10/10 would recommend and actually tastes good. McPops (berry, biscoff, Nutella)-- Basically just filled donut holes!! Very standard like I don't know how you go wrong with donut holes. They were good! If you're in Chicago I'd recommend going just for fun. Just order everything off the global menu. It's not going to fill you up so just think of it like a snack. They DO have the full menu but ... the special part is the global part. Also as a whole, literally the cleanest McDonalds... ever I think. It's right next door to headquarters so they do NOT mess around! No self serve, they'll provide drinks in cups ready to go for you. There's people walking around ready to service you if you need anything. There's a lady by the kiosks directing traffic. Also there's SO MANY kiosks and SOOO much seating! And really clean bathrooms like wow we were so impressed.
Located at Hamburger University, McDonald's headquarters, you can randomly sample regional specialties from around the world! A must-visit for McDonald's devotees! (Although, a little disappointing) Cheesy Onion Burger: Brazil limited. Very small, just a simple layer of meat patty, cheese, and chopped onions. I have no idea where the Brazilian flavor is. Feels very perfunctory. McShaker Fries: Smoky BBQ: Malaysia limited. The seasoning seems to be five-spice salt and pepper, the smoky flavor mainly comes from paprika, plus a layer of tomato acidity. It's probably closer to Mexican than Malaysian, and rather average. Golden McFlurry: Global. Coconut pralines and caramel toppings reminded me of Ferrero Raffaello. The taste was good, but a bit too sweet.
SUCH A COOL CONCEPT wish there were more of these around the country! My favorite thing to do in another country is to try their McDonald's. It was so unique to get to try that here in Chicago. I will say, the fries and the desserts were great, but the sandwiches themselves were just a slight variation from what we already have here. I wasn't wowed by the flavors, but I was wowed by the option and the experience! It's still fast food at the end of the day. I will say, this location was very clean and run smoothly. They brought our order to the car and everything was included, service was quick and nice. HIGHLY recommend, I check the menu on the app to see what new international options are available
There are many kiosks inside. Was disappointed they didn't have as many global menu offerings. Currently only Brazil Cheesy Onion Burger (not that diff from a regular burger just extra cheese and grilled onions), China Kung Pao Double Chicken Sandwich (double patty is a lot, wish they had a single layered chicken sandwich), German Mango Curry Snack Wrap, Malaysia Smoky BBQ shaker fries, Golden McFlurry (caramel & coconut), Switzerland filled beignets. The bbq fries seasoning was good, a tangy savory, slightly smoky flavor similar to bbq chips. The Kungpao chicken was just okay, not really a fan of the sauce. Tasted kind of like a seasoned thousand island dressed mixed with chili sauce. The McDonalds also had some mints that you can grab.

They were kind of like a beignet and they were delicious. You order via a kiosk and wait for your food. The ordering process was easy and we got our food quickly!
Fun fun fun! Got to try some of the international cuisine. Not pictured is the Mango chicken wrap, which was kind of meh. The McShaker fries are the naughty union of MickeyD fries and Lays BBQ chips. Quite yummy. The McPops are like jelly filled donuts. Tasty also. McFlurry was a little too sweet for us. Maybe less of the caramel sauce would be better. Brazillian Onion burger was the winner. Kind of like a Philly cheesesteak with Whiz! I also forgot to take a picture of the Kung Pao chicken sandwich. That was kind of like Panda Express on a bun! Yum! Restaurant is clean and quiet. Kind of out there a ways from downtown though.
This isn't your typical McDonald's, it's one that is located next to the headquarters. The whole atmosphere was completely different. This is the nicest and cleanest McDonald's I've ever been to. There's plenty of seating available with lots of sunshine coming through the windows. It gave a very relaxing vibe where you can just sit and enjoy your meal. As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted with a smile by the staff standing by the door. She saw that I had two kids so she walked up and handed them each a happy meal toy - that definitely made my kid's happy. I was actually quite shocked because this has never happened before. Apparently the toy was one that's suppose to be releasing in the coming months. The staff there was all so friendly and ready to help. I guess it's because it's connected to the headquarters so you can't really mess around. We wanted to try their global menu but then realized some items were only available after a certain time like 11:30 so we just ordered their breakfast while we waited. The ingredients used was fresh and high quality. We ordered mcpops, a cheesy onion burger, mcwrap mango curry and smoky BBQ mcshaker fries. The global menu turned out to be okay, not that special but it's fun to try for sure. If you're in Chicago, I would highly recommend making a visit here.
I would never review a McDonald's but this is the one and ONLY global McDonald's in the world. I rarely eat McDonald's but I had to try this one. They have 5 different menu items from across the globe from different countries and it rotates every 2 months. I got the kung pao double chicken, Brazilian cheese burger with grilled sweet onions, french beignets and Malaysia Smokey bbq fries. I wasn't able to finish everything but just wanted to try. It was definitely different. I liked everything! My favorite was the kung pao chicken but the bbq fries was also pretty good. You should definitely go if ur in Chicago
It was so rewarding visiting an International McDonalds. Being able to try a popular menu McDonald item from Japan, China, The U.K and Canada was fun. It made the journey felt extremely special. I truly enjoyed the Garlic & Pepper CrissCut fries from China . My second favorite was the Philly Cheese Stack from The The U.K. The meat was well seasoned, the caramelized onions the cheese sauce. This burger was the truth. I also admire how dress everything was. The doors and windows where very polish and clean. No hand prints. The counter where clean and sanitized. All the staff seem happy and take pride in their work. I love that! Noone had a sad or down face. Overall wonderful experience.
Came to this McDonalds like everyone else to try the international menu. Unfortunately, I did not do my research and thought that all the items would be available. Instead, there is only a rotating selection of items that are available at any given time. The McDonald's here is nicer than normal and has a bit more space, but I wouldn't say that it felt any different than your average location. read more
We visited here because we wanted to try the global menu. The restaurant was spacious with some cozy chairs. You can order from the cashier or the tablet stations. The service was quick and sometimes, some of the friendly staffs took away our empty tray. In addition to McD regular menu, they also have global menu from different countries that is not available in the US (the global menu rotates every month). - Samurai burger from Singapore: the burger includes patty, mayo, lettuce and teriyaki sauce. However, the teriyaki sauce was way too sweet for my liking. - Mango McFlurry from Malaysia: it had mango chunks and mango syrup swirled in the McFlurry. It tasted good but nothing special. - Winter Fries from France: this was our favorite! The fries were wedged cut but they were crispy and flavorful (not overly salty). - McPops mix: these were small donuts (similar to beignet). The hazelnut flavor from Spain was the winner! It had Nutella inside which was super good. The berry from Swiss was very lacking of berry flavor. The biscoff from Spain was good too. read more

Bro this is the tuffest McDonald's I've ever eaten at! People were nice! Staff I mean lol. Delicious. No, we can watch "Is That Sheep Looking At Me". IDK man I didn't say that. Recently visited the only McDonald's in the U.S. with an international menu and had such a fun experience. The location itself is surprisingly beautiful, elevated and modern, especially for a fast-food spot. We ordered from the kiosk and tried the Samurai Burger from Singapore along with the 3 McPops Mix. Our food was even delivered by an employee in a suit, which somehow added to the bougie-meets-fast-food vibe of the whole place. The Samurai Burger was smaller than expected for the price, but still tasty. The juicy beef paired well with the mayo and teriyaki sauce for a sweet-savory combo. The McPops Mix included a Biscoff and Chocolate Hazelnut McPop from Spain and a Berry McPop from Switzerland. The chocolate hazelnut and Biscoff flavors were spot-on and indulgent, while the berry one reminded me of a classic jelly donut. If you're nearby, Hamburger University is right next door for a fun photo op. Overall, it's a unique and entertaining stop. The food quality is still standard McDonald's, but the international menu and elevated setting make it worth checking out to see what items rotate in next. read more
When I visited in December 2025, they didn't have that many cool international options. I got the samurai burger from Singapore; some European countries steak fries; and Malaysia mango McFlurry. The burger was a normal burger with some different teriyaki? Sauce. The fries were cut into wedges. Those two were okay, I wouldn't get them again. The mango McFlurry was yummy. The mangos taste like dried mangos but the texture was still a little chewy. Service fast, bathrooms clean. read more

I thought the mango wrap was decent but didn't really taste the curry nor mango as much. The Philly burger was a letdown as it tastes like a Big Mac but with fried onions on top. Service was pretty fast and the ambiance of the place was decent and clean. read more

I have been wanting to try to this place since I moved to Chicago. I have been to events with the headquarters but never eaten at Hamburger University. The appeal of the Hamburger University is the international menu. We started off my ordering at the kiosk since I had some rewards and wanted to get my French fries for free. For food on this occasion I had a yummy Biscoff Carmel McFlurry. I also shared a Big Arch with my husband. Big Arch includes two quarter-pound patties, three slices of white cheese, crispy onions, slivered onions, pickles, lettuce, and a special Big Arch sauce on a sesame and poppy seed bun. We really enjoyed the burger. It was an upgrade from your traditional Mickey D burger. Would love to come back and try other things. Service was quick and would like to see what other global things they offer. read more

Reviewing my first McDonald's because it's the flagship store with the global menu. Maybe something to do more of. Honestly, I had a pretty good experience here. Chicago is nice and walkable and this spot is easy to access. The spot is clean and the workers are super friendly with excellent service. They provided an extra water on the side with my order, despite me not ordering or requesting one. Ordering is easy on the kiosks where one can browse their available global options which appear to rotate from time to time. Extremely spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating plus a clean washroom and nice area to walk around afterwards for some digestion. read more
FOOD PASSPORT The only McDonald's with an international menu serving menu items from other countries' McDonalds. The Global Menu items are on a 6 week rotation with the rest of the international variety, so you can try different things every so often. Don't worry, they serve the regular American selection here too. I am not sure why everyone is crazed about the standard McWraps but they are basic as heck. I got the Global versions for some reason thinking they would be any better. The Netherlands Sweet Chili and the Classic from Poland was nothing to write home about, albeit I am writing about it here. Despite having different ingredients and sauce, I was sorely disappointed with the flavor combination and the quality, and because of that, did not warrant the price point. The McPops were like donut holes with filling. These were decent and I would probably eat them again. I said EAT them, but would not buy them, because for 3 pieces, the price is outrageous for the amount you get. So if you want to donate McPops to me I won't refuse them. I think I came on the worst menu rotation. I only rated this location up because the service at this McDonald's was better than you can find elsewhere and the staff was actually helpful. It was pretty clean, unlike most McDonalds with the tables always being messy. Also, there are charging stations in the dining areas at certain tables. The novelty of having foreign items makes this site unique. So you can explore if you want but let it be known, some of these menu items should be deported. read more
Finding the McDonald's headquarters in Chicago; the global home of the brand and being able to enjoy a diverse menu with items from different countries and international options is truly fascinating. Living the experience is absolutely worth it. The place is huge, the ordering process is super easy and fast, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I had to check out this McDonald's on a trip to Chicago. This McDonald's is there world headquarters and is right next door to Hamburger University which is where all the General managers at McDonald's has to go through training. When I ordering from the kiosk they have several of them there this McDonald's has a global menu which means you can get items that they do not have other places in the United States. They have items from other countries not the full menu but a selected amount of them I thought this was pretty neat. I decided to order from the global menu and try something new I haven't tried before. I ordered the triple onion burger, Deluxe potatoes, and for dessert I had the three Mcpops mix. I took my order number to the table and shortly after my meal was delivered to the table. Everything tasted so good. They do have signs up in the place stating that you only have 20 minutes to sit and eat your food which I didn't care for them to actually have a time limit on how quick you can eat your food but everything else was very good the place was clean and the workers were very polite. read more
I might get flack for reviewing a McDonalds, but this is a special one - it's the global headquarters with the international menu! I was very pleasantly surprised that it was also available for late night delivery - I could totally see this place closing earlier at night, but being able to deliver a bunch of fun international items to try after a night out makes it a top experience for me. We tried the McAloo burger from India, donut holes from Switzerland, a chicken burger from Canada, and the Big Mac from the USA. I'll say this is probably not really deserving of the 5 star review (after all, the food is McDonalds quality), but I think the novelty and the hours of this location make it just a unique McDonalds experience. read more
They had the Chinese crinkle cut garlic fries and it was so good. The ghost pepper mcchicken was actually pretty spicy and it builds up. Got the Italian nuts waffle cone and that was just original vanilla icecream with chocolate fudge and nuts but also pretty good. Lots of people but enjoyed it a lot! read more

Came here on our visit to Chicago. Of course we saw it of TikTok! I expected the international menu to be a little more than just 2 wraps and a burger for the main course. However it made my kids excited so that was the whole point right? Lol they loved the Biscof McFlurry but my daughter said it could have used a some drizzle of biscof (coming from a 9 year old) and my son who's 6 said the mc Arch Burger was awesome but still doesn't beat the burger McD burger from Egypt lol! The sweet potato fries was a miss. The service was nice and the place was very clean and well kept! read more

One of the things that I needed to do when I made my return trip to Chicago was to come to McDonald's headquarters location for one sole reason: the Global Favorites menu! For people that aren't aware, the Global Favorites menu has a limited variety of various international items from around the world. Since I've been to several McDonald's around the world lately in Netherlands, France, and England, I was already hyped on global menu options. SO to have them available in the U.S. made this location a must visit for me. Obviously, I was only gonna order from the Global Favorites menu. Ordered the McAloo Tikki from India, the McRaclette from Switzerland, Twister Fries from Malaysia, and the McPops from Switzerland and Spain. The McAloo Tikki was by far the most unique item I had, as it was entirely vegan. The patty is made of potato, peas, and aromatic Indian spices...essentially, it was kind of like a falafel. The McRaclette is made of beef and raclette cheese on a nice square bun. Probably my favorite of what I ordered. Twister Fries are...just regular curly fries. The McPops were nice, but not as good as I thought they would be as they were already premade. Ordering is pretty straightforward here as most people order on kiosks, although there is a register if you want to order there. Staff are very quick and the food comes out quickly. This McDonald's was also very clean as well, which I would expect since it is the headquarters location. Overall, I think it's a very cool concept that the headquarters location has the Global Favorites. Makes this super unique! read more
This McDonald's offers the global menu, which makes for such a fun and unique experience. The garlic pepper fries, Philly Cheese Stack, and Biscoff McPops were all 10/10, definitely the highlights. The Ghost Pepper McChicken was very spicy to the point where it took away from the enjoyment. My friends really liked the mango curry wrap, but it wasn't my favorite. So my schtick doing reviews is to not review fast food joints. Mostly because they're all cookie-cutter, wham bam, churn out the same ol' stuff kind of places. Nobody sits down at a fast food place for the ambiance, comradery, ice cold beers, or cuisine that will make you sell your first born for another taste of that soup. You know that soup I'm talking about. It's the kind you would sell your first born for for just another taste. However, in this case, this is a Global McDonald's. And in that case, it means it often showcases food from around the world (I mean, food you can get in a Micky D's around the world). Since I've never ever been in one, I've only ever heard stories, like how you always hear about that one kid in 8th grade who had twelve toes, but you've never actually SEEN it, I've decided I needed to try this. The size of this McDonald's was huge. It even had outside seating. A lot of it. The inside had plenty of seating for all your friends. Both locally AND globally (see what I did there?). You order via kiosk. And maybe even at the counter, but I'll be honest, I wasn't paying attention. Since this was stop 3 on my Chicago Tour of Stuffing My Face, I wanted to keep it light. And I'll be honest, mostly because the burger they offered didn't look like anything special. It just had white cheddar on it. So I decided to get some sweet treats. My travel buddy got the Biscoff flurry and I settled with the multi-pack of McPops. The McFlurry slapped (is that what the kids are saying)? Biscoff doesn't miss, though. Cookie form is OG, so that in a flurry type situation only enhanced the flurry itself. Where America brings home the gold though, are the McPops. They're basically filled donut holes, squished a little. The dough was fluffy, yet firm. Light, yet dense. It was the perfect consistency of donut material. The multi-pack comes with 1(one) Biscoff, one (1) hazelnut, and (1) (1) berry. Pick a favorite, you ask? Can't. They're all perfect. It's a damn good thing Chicago is 3 hours away it I would look like Veruca Salt and they'd have to roll me into the juicer. McFlurr - 8/10 (only because McFlurrys are really my jam. McPops - 11/10 I wish I could breathe these instead of oxygen. read more

So as far as McDonald's goes, this spot, adjacent to McDonald's HQ, isn't even close to the best quality food. The novelty of the global menu is hardly worth going out of your way for. Very very busy and there was some pretty loud construction going on while we were there. If you're considering going out of your way to try the international food items, definitely don't do it. Not even worth it if it's on the way. read more
Yes. I can't believe it myself either. A 5 star review to a McDonalds. But, this isn't just any ordinary McDonalds, this is the University of McDonalds! Two words: INTERNATIONAL MENU How'd I end up here? I'm in town for work. Staying at the Emily Hotel. My concierge said, "Mike, if you've never been, go to McDonalds Global HQ? It's the University, you have to, it's just a couple blocks that way" I said "University?!" Walked maybe 10 minutes. It's really a university. Ground level is where the restaurant is located. Entered the door, we were greeted by several employees who were servicing the dining area. From a quick scan, most patrons were likely locals in office work attire while others were snapping photos looking touristy like me haha. 11:00am, Wasn't too busy. Conveniently, introverts can use touch screen kiosks to place orders. I like people so, I waited to book mine with a human at the register. What did I order? Hong Kong Chicken Sandwich 4/5 stars McPop 3 piece 5/5 stars Criscut Chips 4/5 stars The sandwich is a nice portion at $5.49 my only comment is that it had a tablespoon too much of the mayo. But, I've not yet had the Spicy Chicken sandwich in Hong Kong yet. Maybe this is exactly how it's served there? Bun, nice, chicken flavor and bite, very nice. As you would expect from McDonalds, but better than an average McDonalds in Los Angeles. That's for sure haha! The key take away from any McDonalds International menu experience is to try the items not typically offered at your local McDonalds. So when in Rome... I ordered those McPops and slipped up and ordered CrisCut Chips. I absolutely loved it all. In fact, my only regret is that I did not order fries just so I could taste university quality fries. Imagine the best fries, but from the university of the best fries?! Yeah I messed up. But I wrote this review so you don't have to go through that. Shout out to McDonald's for keeping me fed and entertained with toys during meal times as a child and still holding me down as one of the best to cure a hangover. read more
Definitely stop by if you're visiting Chicago! The global menu and the service here was easily a 5 star experience as far as fast food goes, not sure why I'd go to any other McDonald's or similar fast food burger joint when I'm in the area! Admittedly I was a bit sad they just rotate out the Korean triple onion burger earlier this month. How could Hamburger University do this to us before Lollapalooza, which has the biggest kpop/k-alt lineup in history of music fests?! But dramatics and pop culture side (come on McDonald's, keep up!), I'm definitely happy with the twister fries (I dare say better than Arby's curly fries), McRaclette with extra sauce (come on, load it up), and McPops mix (biscotti, vanilla, and strawberry). Honestly the McPops tasted like donut holes and could use more filling to properly compete with munchkins from Dunkin', but was fluffy and tasty otherwise. Also wish they had some special drink, but the unsweetened iced tea will do (sorry soda fans, I'm trying not to drink my calories unless it's absolutely worth it). read more
The place is nice and clean. They have kiosk to take your order but today I appreciated being able to order at the counter. I was excited to try the samurai burger, and the winter fries with my usual Diet Coke. For a sweet treat I ordered the assortment of McPops which reminds me of jelly or chocolate filled donuts. The service was quick. Once we seated, they were already bringing out some of my order. One of the persons there, perhaps a manager handed the kiddos an extra toy. I thought that was very kind. The samurai Burger had a very tangy teriyaki sauce on it. I didn't enjoy the flavor that much. The winter fries were pretty good. Think waffle fries but seasoned. The McPops were delicious, and I wish they had them on every McDonald's menu. read more
Heard from friends that McDonald's Hamburger University in Chicago has an international menu, and it definitely lived up to the hype! I tried the Swiss Burger, McAloo Tikki, and the French Berry Mcpops, yum across the board. Each item had a unique flavor you won't find at your typical McDonald's, and it was a fun way to taste global offerings. The service was great, friendly and efficient and the ambiance was surprisingly upscale and modern. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and curious about McDonald's beyond the usual menu. read more
