I enjoy coming to this McDonald's whenever I'm in the area. However, I try to avoid the drive thru since no matter what time of the day I come, it's rather busy. Your best bet is to park and walk in. If there is not a wait, I am properly greeted and my order is taken. I am served in a reasonable amount of time (a minute of two), and the food is normally served warm. Drinks are self serve only, which is nice because I can get a refill if I really need one. The dining area is clean, well stocked and lit. I enjoy the value menu and the $1.00 any size drink option the most. All in all, this place serves my needs, my budget, and my time. read more

The McDonald's in kaimuki has always been my favorite. The only problem I had was the manager Susanne. I had a simple mistake where the cashier misheard my order, and I was totally fine with that. All that happened was she didn't hear one of my sandwiches. When I tried to talk to them, susanne immediately started yelling at me "that's your sandwich" over and over again. They consistently get orders wrong. They are poor at communication and comprehension. Also they are very slow. Workers seem to be putzing around too much, and not pushing it when things get busy, like they don't even care. Sometimes the customers themselves really slow things down, but I have seen the cashiers shooting the breeze multiple times with customers while there are long lines -- so yeah -- the cashiers just don't seem to care about getting the line down. Recently when I wanted to return something (because they screwed up the order like usual) and get a discount, the cashier stepped away from the counter and didn't even explain what she was doing (she had to get a manager to get a refund, as I found out later, but they shouldn't be leaving customers in the dark). I explained the problem to her three times, and then had to explain it to the manager again, and then again, when I already went through the issue of what should have been a trivial refund of one item. After all this, I got irritated and got a little snappy with her, and she snapped back: "Don't talk to me like that!" After getting the refund finally, I tried to explain to her that you shouldn't snap back at customers, and I have been on her end providing service, and I didn't talk back to customers. However, there was this attitude that if I got short with her, she had the right to get short with me. Uhhh, no . . . one side is the customer and one side is customer service. She kept just giving more crap attitude -- talking back to unhappy customers is just her right apparently, and she just kept rationalizing the behavior. If a customer is downright abusive, that's different, but you can't just snap back at every customer who has lost their temper a bit. This is the worst McDonald's on the island that I know of, and even the worst service of any restaurant on the island that I have experienced. I once called this McDonald's to complain that they didn't include the BBQ sauce that I ordered in addition to my meal to eat with my fries (YUM!). I was that distraught over not having the BBQ sauce. They were really nice about it and apologized. I realized the next day that the excellent workers at McDonald's had indeed given me BBQ sauce, but I was a dumbass and dropped it on the floor of the car without realizing it. Uh, oh, sorry... I like that the people working at this McDonald's seem like normal professionals just working an extra job. They always get my breakfast request right: bacon, egg, and cheese bisquit, on an english muffin instead of bisquit. I believe this place is more 4 stars, but i put 5 stars to off set all the 1 star and 2 star ratings of ridiculous people. This is a mc donalds...... i don't come here expecting to be treated like i would at goma tei or shokudo or something. I don't expect the burgers to look at the photos nor do i expect my order to be right all the time. I'd say my order is done 90% of the time at least, and when it isn't they always replace my order so long as i show my receipt. people complaining about the homeless have no one to blame but all the social media warriors. If mc donalds kicked them out, you'd have a swarm of people talking about how mc donalds refuses to let people eat there blah blah blah, so what the homeless do is they spend 1$ for a drink and just simply sit around because they are now "customers". Some of them are legit customers that actually buy meals, but many are not. i don't expect a 5 star lunch when i buy from mc donalds, and if you're getting an order from someone who is getting paid a dollar more than minimum wage, mc donalds is not trying hard to hire skilled workers, or pay well enough to retain the skilled workers. I only gave one star for the following reasons: Once in a blue moon they get my order right and once in a blue moon do I get good customer service! The dining area is relatively clean and they are conveniently open 24 hrs. Hold on... Here comes the other reasons: 1. Their customer service sucks. To order something as simple as a number one or even a breakfast burrito seems to be too complex for some of their employees. Be ready to repeat your order 20 times before they get it right.. And by the time they get it right, be prepared to be too frustrated to eat. Hold on there's more... 2. When you get your order. Be prepared to check if everything is correct. 8 out of 10 times they mess it up... And theeeeennnn... 3. When you let them know something is wrong they give YOU attitude even if you let them know nicely!!! I will say... Today's experience was a bit of a mix too. The line was long but their soft drinks machine was broken... So when I left the drive thru and my drink tasted funny. I went back and had to wait. The cashier and the girl at the window apologized. And I got a different drink... The drink again tasted bad!!! If the machine is bad do not keep serving drinks! I even asked what flavors were available before I got the replacement drink. This is the second day in a row that they have given me the WRONG meal, and no receipt. Yesterday I visited just before 8 am, and they were all talking about the suspected mystery shopper at the drive through. I guess that meant that they could NOT pay attention to us regular customers. I ordered a Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit and a Sausage McMuffin with Egg. I got a Sausage, Egg and Cheese biscuit and an Egg McMuffin. I was going to go back and return it, but they did not give me a receipt. This morning, I went through the drive through. I ordered for two people, but only one of the meals was correct. I ordered a Sausage McMuffin with Egg meal. I got a McGriddle. I ordered a coffee with 4 sugars and 6 creams. I got a coffee with an ungodly amount of sugar already put inside for me. Just went through the DriveThru 6-7-2020, ordered 2 BigMac meal and a side Nuggets! Got the orders, went home and only to realize that I was missing a BigMac and 5 nuggets!! I ordered a side, 6 piece!!! Drove back to the location and told them that my order was incomplete and already upset that I had to drive back there! I am a compulsive " sip stealer " when it comes to fountain drinks (sorry 711 you had to find out this way) ..... but at Mickey D's it does not matter .... $1 for any size drink definite bargain and fill em up again when you have bottomed out ! Usually go to the drive thru once or twice a month on my off day for lunch. The line is usually out to Waialae but moves fast. They have a person outside taking orders to help speed things up. Typically this place is fast in service, but lately looks like staff turn over occurred. There is no sense in urgency during night shifts. Workers make eye contact with customers and return back to their task with minimal effort to approach and offer to take the order. A major pet peeve is when order is inaccurate. Even after worker repeated my "special" order, it came out wrong??? How is 1 McDbl plain with only slivered onions the same as 1 McDbl plain with only ketchup. After a long day (630am-930pm), trying to grab a bite to eat should be satisfying, but unfortunately this messed up order incident occurs. A competent worker is an efficient worker which the service provided was neither. My visit was disappointing and getting home with something I did not order can cause irritation. I'm in the area often, so will need to pursue other take out restaurant options. McDonald's motto should be more aligned to Burger King... "have it your way...." read more

Very disappointed! Went to get a meal combo and a hot fudge sundae via drive thru and ! There was no fountain drinks available as well as hot fudge for the hot fudge sundae! This was unbelievable! They should put a sign out on the drive thru menu so customers know ahead of time! Also, this was the second time in a few weeks that there was no hot fudge for the sundae! For several minutes, she complained in pidgin (and not Standard English) that I was taking too long and that she had to go to the bathroom, even though there was another fully functional stall available. She said she would "kick my ass" if I didn't exit my stall three times. I got very scared, told her that I would call the police, and was about to call the police. Need to watch out about this place. There are lots of times where the workers are foreign and do not understand English very well. Recently observed an employee doing his business on the toilet and then after he was finished, went back to serving customers and cooking food. Reported this incident to McDonalds and nothing was doing as if it was not a big deal. If an employee cooked my food or even handled my food or took my order, I would think it would be of a sanitary issue if the employee did not wash their hands after using the toilet. Maybe it's not such as a big deal to this location, but to me, washing hands after using the toilet is a big deal! read more

Apparently the servers don't know their own menus, and deny having those items on the menu even after having it pointed out to them. False advertising. The posters advertise Avengers Happy Meals. Did the workers steal the Avengers toys? Because all they had was a bin full of Ninja turtles from eons ago. Talk to the manager? They said her name is Susan. Ordered two quarter pounders and an ice cream come on mobile. My boyfriend went to pick it up and when he did the guy gave him just the brown bag and then he asked the worker about the ice cream cone. The worker was rude and thought he was lying. After checking the order he gave him the ice cream and it was melting. It was like the machine wasn't working well... please make sure you check your receipt before you leave. McDonalds has always been a convenient place to eat for people of all kinds. As a high school student, I understand its convenience. Now, I do understand that the food served at such fast food restaurants is considerably unhealthy; however they do try to offer healthier options (i.e. salads). In all there are more reasons for me to like it rather than to dislike it. Many high school students travel home using a bus system, including myself. So, since the food is prepared rather quickly, it makes a perfect lunch before the bus arrives. Some of my fellow high school students have low lunch budgets, not being able to buy much food at school. By going to McDonalds after school for lunch, students can get a decent sized meal for less than five dollars. There is also another perk for dining at McDonalds, free WIFI!! OMG, I eat at this place WAY too much. But it is convenient since it is on my way to work. They remodeled this place about 2 years ago and it is a bit nicer than the old building. There are couple of things about this McDonald's to know. First, they don't have much parking and second, during the busy times of the day the drive-through stretches out on to Waialae Avenue. Even if you do find parking, if you there are right before school or right after school the place is packed with high school kids from Sacred Heart or Saint Louis. Typically, in the morning if there is only room for one car to get in the drive through line before you hit Waialae Avenue that means 7-10 minutes sitting in line. Sometimes I don't mind since I'm sitting in the comfort of my own car, but plan for that if you are running late for work. Kudos to McDonald's also for adding specialty items, but PLEASE bring BACK the chocolate dip cone! I could eat those every day! read more

My mom went to get breakfast this morning. She asked for portuguese sausage, eggs and rice. STUPID lady says, oh, you want the local deluxe (comes with spam, $2 more). My ohana & friends & coworkers are like regulars here due to pick up orders for fundraisers, church activities, food runs, etc. But tonight was the worse! Thanks to one certain worker. Rude fricken service from the worker KACINA! While getting our order when our number got called(ordered 2 regular stroopwaffle mcflurry with 2 extra scoops of stroppwaffle for each & 1 snack size stroopwaffle mcflurry with 1 extra scoop of scroopwaffle[extra scoops were 30 cents each]), I asked if she could put the extra waffle toppings in a cup since I know there's a little bit inside & for my kid. Instead of responding nicely, she had the audacity to pick up each cup (3 cups) & roughly put it down (slam like) while telling me with an attitude & sassy tone in her voice. As a customer of course that made me snap back. I've worked for customer service for McDonald's & other companies for 10+ years (manager, assistant manager & as an accountant) I know that's absolutely NOT the way to treat your customer regardless the request or even concern. Let alone, i know my rights as a customer & the rule books. What additionally irritated me too, was how she lied about what she did when my kid even says she was sassy rude & what I stated she saw it too? My kid was behind me yet beside me when KACINA decided to be unkind. Walked my daughter to the counter so I can deal with it before we leave. Anyways... Called the store back after approaching her rudeness & letting their supervisor know it wasnt them who wasn't doing their part of great customer service & they were worker hard & the supervisor was doing great, but it was that one employee who literally killed that vibe after the stink she pulled.
