The recent renovations to this restaurant has made it a very nice place to visit. It's well lighted with plenty of seating inside the restaurant. One can select between sitting in booths or on tables with stool seats. Our order was entered and within 15 minutes, we were ready to go. I think the only caveat for this location is to check your order before leaving. On previous visits, I have been missing food. If you do find a shortage, the management is very accommodating and will provide the missing items at no additional charge. Great place for a fast meal! read more

Waited a long time in the drive thru line, which sadly is quite normal at this location. When we finally got to the ordering area, someone mumbled, "screens not working," or something like that, they were not very clear. Drove up to the first window, from what we could see, the manager was on the phone and completely ignoring us. She saw us, then turned her back on us. She just kept talking on the phone and refused to open the window. So we are like, "oh, ok. Maybe something is wrong with the takeout screens, surely they can still take orders like they did A BILLION YEARS BEFORE THEY HAD THOSE TOUCH SCREEN MONITORS, right?!?!?" This location is always very busy when I come, and never gives me any hassle if I have a specific order. However, they shut down the restaurant earlier than closing time quite often. I've gone through the drive thru fifteen to thirty minutes before closing on multiple occasions, and they cross their arms in an 'X' through the window to tell me they won't be taking my order. I am glad to check out this McDonald's and I glad that I enjoyed it. Since I don't eat there very often and i'm glad to see that this location has the dollar value menu, which is affordable and inexpensive. Also for drink lovers out there they have 1.00 size drinks and it's good for them to have it again and it's nice to see them have this promo again. I also noticed that they have food that is cheaper than most food that I order. At least they were very good for a late night fix if you are hungry and want something that is fast and easy. I am glad to say that it was a good place to eat and have a good place for friends and family members to get together and enjoy it. I noticed that there's a self service drink station and you can get whatever drink you like so you can choose from and pick. Hope it will stay for a while too and it's nice to have a good and inexpensive meal for those who are on tight budgets too. Hopefully I will be back soon read more

This was the worst McDonald's I have ever been to in my life (44 yrs and I've been to a lot). 1. No available parking stalls at 4 pm. No problem, I park and walk. 2. This is gross so you can skip this but now that you're curious.... Went to the restroom and almost slipped near the urinal because.... You guessed it! No, it wasn't recently mopped unless they have a new sanitizing liquid starting with "P". 3. Nobody in line. 3 employees (1 supervisor or manager) talking at a register. Nobody helps me. Have you ever been to a restaurant and forgot to take off your invisible cape? Yup, I was invisible. I stand there for a few minutes reading the menu I sadly know by heart already, then finally a guy comes to take my order. 4. I get my drink and wait. One other person orders. Then we both wait and wait and wait. How long? I didn't time it but I checked my personal emails, read the ace hardware Labor Day sale, checked my biz emails, looked at the live traffic feeds and took my turn in 6 words with friends games. Finally she gets her order. Wait? What? She gets her order before mine? Ok, maybe they're making me fresh fries. 5. People next to me found something in their burger so returned it. I'm still waiting and they get a replacement burger. Hey, where's my order? I ask the same guy that took my order and only one other order after mine and he looks at me like he never saw me before. Well, my bad, I forgot I had my invisible cape on. 6. Meanwhile there are tons of workers. Like 12 or more. Some busy (there was a drive-thru line) and some trying to look busy. Some throwing away trash basketball style and missing. I couldn't see them but saw the trash ricochet and heard an "aghh!" Twice, by different voices. Still didn't see the workers because nobody picked up the missed trash. Manager walking around not paying attention to customers. Looks like a restaurant you would see on one of those cable food TV shows about failing restaurants. 7. I finally get my food after asking another employee. #3 quarter pounder w cheese meal. No apology. No thank you. Nothing. 8. I drive off and guess what? Soggy fries and the driest burger I have ever eaten at a McDonald's. Woohoo! Who would have thunk it? 9. The sad thing about all of this? Upon searching for this location on yelp to write my review I saw many other McDonald's with 2.5-3 stars. And... Nobody is going to care. It will still be busy and the service will not change. Pathetic. 10. Recommendation for future patrons. Wear boots, fluorescent clothing, leave your invisible cape at home and don't be in any kind of rush. Check your food and ration your drink so you can wash it all down. Just went through drive-thru earlier to order my kid a kids meal. I asked if they had whole milk available for his choice of drink and they responded yes they do have whole milk. Now we are coming back to our hotel room to find out that the milk was not whole milk as requested but that it is now 4 days past expiration. Unlike a lot of other McDonald's locations with red roofs, this location has a green roof to match the Koolau Mountains in the background. As this location is fairly new, this is probably one of the cleaner McDonald's on the island. If you are headed up to Laie, this is a great place to pick up a quick snack along the way. read more

McDonald's Hui Iwa, why you dissapoint me so? ..McDonald's is FAST FOOD.. Right? Well not here. I could understand if the place was packed or if there we're a lot of cars coming through the drive thru, but no. Not here. And not at the time I came. I arrived roughly around 9am, and there we're approximately 5 others in the dinning area and they had already gotten their food. It was SLOW. But I LOVE walking into places when it's slow, because that usually means I can get my food quickly and go! My Dad & I ordered TWO food items and ONE drink... To be exact that was a sausage burrito, sausage mcmuffin, and a small coffee.... Sooo... Why did it take about 15 minutes from the initial wait in line (there was only ONE person ahead of us ordering TWO things: orange juice & portuguese sausage, eggs, & rice platter) to actually getting our food?? Luckily it was my day off, I was in NO rush, & decided to dine in. And in this case I can bypass the wait without being a little aggravated... Howeverrr... When my dad & i finally got our food it was made rather sloppy, and my dad's sausage was burnt. Of course we still ate it with no complaints, because McDonald's is a staple to our weekly diets, and we're used to this greasy fast food! But I'm just saying... If you're going to take 10 minutes to make something that normally takes less than 5 (drive thru), all I ask is that it's made decent and not sloppy. read more

Today the drive thru was busy so I went inside. I asked for 2 sausage egg mcmuffins and one sausage mcmuffin. They failed to put an egg in one of the two. I asked to put the cream/sugar on the side instead of in the coffee (I don't know how the person receiving liked it), the server puts all the cream/sugar in the coffee and still gives me extra. These are things that I don't think I need to inspect before leaving so shame on you! I did not receive straws, napkins, or ketchup even when I asked...I should have looked before I left. This is not the first, second, or third time this has happened at this McDonald's but I am very disappointed that customer service has barely improved in all my years. I often go to this particular location only because of the fact that it is the closest to my home. Other than that, I probably wouldn't bother. Since this location has opened, I find it very inconsistent in both food and customer service. I notice there is a high turnover (which is to be expected of fast food establishments), but in all honesty some of them need better customer service training. I have to admit though, the ones that have been there the longest seem the most friendliest, which is sad. The last time I was there, I had to deal with a girl that made absolutely no eye contact and didn't seem like she wanted to be there. Sad times! read more

I go to this McDonald's at least 3 to 4 times a week, because the deals is amazing and my kids love the happy meal of course, and I live 2 minutes away. However tonight had got to be the absolutely last time I'm going there. In fact I'm taking this situation to action line. I ordered 1 classics meal deals, both 10 piece nuggets, both large drinks, and 1 taro pie, and 1 apple pie. When I went to the window to get my food the female employee nicely handed me my food I checked my bags however I realized I was missing 1 of my small fries that is included in the classic meal deal, so I told the female employee that I was missing a small fries. She said no u only order 1. So I explained to her what I ordered, she said no what ever is ordered shows up on our screen and our screens says u only order 1 small fries. I said I order 2 classic meal deals which both include 1 small fries, however I only got 1 small fries I'm missing the other one. The manager came in and started to argue with me too, explaining to me that I only ordered 1. So I asked the manager if I can please see my receipt, the female employee told me u should have it very wisely. So I replied that I don't have it, the manager then went to the cashier and grabbed it for me, the female employee handed me my receipt I said look at it see u only ordered 1. So I read my receipt. Then found the mistake I explained to the manager, and the female employee i said ok look i ordered 2 classic meal deals, however the cashier rang me up for 1 classics meal deal. The other meal deal he charged me for everything alacart. So the classic meal deal includes 1 small fries, 1 apple pie, I large drink, and a 10 piece nuggets for $6.50. The cashier rang me up for a 10 piece nuggets, 1 large drink, one a pie which cost me $7.00. I explained to the manager that I wanted 2 classic deals the $6.50 deal. Not 1 and get charges alacarte. She still argued with me and said well u only paid for 1. I told her that i asked for 2. The female employee looked at me and said well u need to meet me In the parking lot u are holding up our line. As she looked so pissed I felt so threaten at the fact that she wanted me to meet her in the parking lot. The manager finally gave me my small fries, while giving me my fries she asked me if I was samoan. In shock I said no, i have nothing against samoans at all however what does that question have to do with my order. Except for the fact that I felt discriminated against. I was obviously irked enough to come on here and write a review about it. Anyway, I went into this McDonalds this morning in order to try out their new pumpkin spice latte since I normally get the Starbucks version that is far more expensive. Also, from previous experiences, I do enjoy most (def not all) of the McCafe line. As I ordered the drink I specified that I had wanted a medium sized drink. The lady who was ringing me up did not even know how to ring up a pumpkin spice latte. In my opinion that is already a fail because its the drink you guys are currently promoting and therefore should know how to ring up. After asking around and playing around with the register for awhile, continually ringing up different types of lattes and voiding it, the lady finally figured it out and rang me up for a small pumpkin spice. I than specified again before handing over my money saying that I wanted a medium pumpkin spice. She says "oh right medium." takes my money and gives me my change. I know for a fact that she rang me up for a small because I was charged less than the advertised price. So I wait for my drink and hope that shes just gonna give me the medium since I've been specifying all along. Another lady hands me my SMALL pumpkin spice latte and I tell her I had wanted a medium. She tells me "oh well, she rang you up for a small, you'll have to wait in line again to reorder and void your previous transaction." Seriously, are you friggen kidding me. Why is it so hard to give me a medium drink? And the customer service sucked. Oh and to top if all off, the drink was disgusting. Far too sweet to be enjoyable and it had no pumpkin taste what so ever. Meh. Overall I've actually grown up down here and I usually get a pretty decent experience. So to specify this particular visit gets the one star rating. It was just one of those small things that just don't start the day our quite right. Try to avoid this place. I really don't like writing bad reviews, but this is hands down the worse McDonald's I've ever been to. I don't have any comment on the food, it's just like any other McDonald's BUT the customer service and entire experience was terrible. They were slow, rude, and seemed like they were all still being trained. We even witnessed the young manager arguing with her employees, visibly frustrated, stating she did not want to fight with everyone. Customers don't need to hear or see that. Due to the long lines and chaos at the counter, we used the kiosk to order but noticed people who ordered after us were getting their food before us. Made no sense, but the icing on the cake prompting me to leave this review was due to an older lady worker... when she finally handed us our order, I asked for our drink.
