I got bamboozled! I came for a chicken nuggets kid's meal, but when I drove up to the drive thru, I was asked if I wanted to try the Crispy Chicken Sweet Chili Wrap. Damn, was it healthier I thought? I began to inquire about this "wrap". Was it spicy? NOPE It is a good size? YUP Was it reasonably priced? Sure - $4 So, ya, I was suckered into changing my order. Nobody is under any illusion that McDonalds offers (genuinely) nutritions or high quality food. However it seems to consistently be that the quality of that food has proceeded to become lower and lower. Fries are soggy, oil soaked, and have a rancid taste. Burger patties are thinner than the bleached buns they sit on, chicken sandwiches are dry and rely heavily on sauces for moisture. I understand that there is a high output expected from fast-food chains and especially when utilizing the drive through, which seems to be the main way that this specific McDonalds franchise engages with its consumers, and I am not blaming the employees for that. As consumers we have demanded that they have things ready to go within moments of completing our order and then proceed to complain when it takes longer than 3 minutes. How could we expect food to be of high quality with such hasty effort put into making it? I feel, however, that as consumers there is a mental shift happening that is causing the wider populous to look at what they are consuming and how it is impacting their health. Additionally due to inflation people are starting to put much greater consideration into where they are spending/investing their money and are less willing to accept (subpar) things they may have once been willing to. As a consumer culture we have created a demand for "cheap food" and that is specifically what I see McDonalds proving. Not particularly inexpensive but cheap. Personal ordering experience: I placed an order through the drive through shortly after covid restrictions had been lifted and was told to pull around to one of the parking spots to have it brought out. No big deal. There were a couple other patrons waiting for their food as well. The employee brought out the orders and went to the car next to me first and handed them the bag. A moment later they called her back over as she had given them the wrong order. She exchanged the bag for the correct one and they left. She then brought me the food that had been given to the wrong person, who had gone through said bag to confirm it was not their order. Why am I to be expected to accept a bag of food someone else handled and went though when you won't accept items back through your window once they have been touched? I told her I wasn't going to accept the food and it needed to be redone due to health and safety reasons. She apologized and went back inside and literally a moment later returned with another bag and handed it to me quickly and walked off. All they did was stuff the bag the other customer had handled and gone through into a clean bag. I stoped ordering food from McDonalds then and when I have gone it is specifically to oder a $1 drink, which is now available through different fast food establishments with more drink options. The one thing McDonalds has going for it that no other fast food establishment has is they get the coolest contracts with companies like Disney, Barbie, Pokémon, etc for kids meal toys. read more

I gave this business a one single star because it's mandatory in order to put in my review I remember McDonald's used to keep their dining rooms clean the drink stations weren't covered in soda ice cubes and God knows what else ketchup running out of the ketchup dispenser onto the counter and most importantly they didn't have homeless people sleeping in the booth right in front of your front door, I under no circumstance recommend this business as a matter fact I would recommend you use another McDonald's as I walked in I noticed a homeless guy sleeping in the booth figured somebody would take time to walk the floor and see if it was there or what was going on out on the floor nope no chance as I'm trying to eat my meal with a guy snoring behind me I approach a manager who says will be right there to take care of it 20 minutes later after my meal still nothing. However, when you don't want to use the Kiosk, they straight up ignore you up front. There is a lady here that "helps" you with the kiosk, but she literally pushes buttons for you that you could do yourself. She even opens the lid can to people? It's a very odd scenario. Sad to say but I kinda chuckled, but the " short stubby lady with glasses"working the window is the exact same employee that Gave me issues a while ago as well. I was buying a meal for myself and my daughter as I was approached by a short haired lady who appeared to be down on her luck, in the drive through asking if I can buy her a meal. I wish I could give this place ZERO STARS. I understand not appreciating a large order but we spent over $50 at this location and the quality was sad. The girl (I think it was a girl, but it had short hair so maybe not) was immensely rude, there was no one in the line in front of us or behind us and she was rushing us but somehow confused and asking to repeat and clarify everything. Oceanside has 9 McDonalds, more than any other city in San Diego and I was recently in the mood for some nugs (not the green kind) and low and behold it's 11pm and the 3 that I visited ALL closed. WTF. (Mission marketplace, Oceanside blvd, old grove) I didn't check this one that night, but recently this location has been open past 11 consistently mean this place gets an extra star. They also get an extra star for not screwing up my orders, not giving me attitude and straight up fresh fries. I can't honestly give a McDonalds 5 stars, but when your craving it and all the other locations are closed this place will get my business. Drive thru is a little overgrown. As with all McD the parking lot is a grimey mess of oil, soda, trash. Parking is a little weird and I honestly haven't been inside in years, so without the more recently retrofitted style it's simply aite. Double ordering kiosks, double windrows. This is completely ridiculous, I recieved my order via Uber Eats, I literally live 3 minutes away so its physically impossible for the cheese to have hardened and crusted, the burger to be completely cold and stale and the fries to be stale and old. This food has obviously been sitting out for hours. This is clearly a health code violation, serving customers old food, the employees obviously didnt care enough to hide their incompetence to make fresh food, I mean come on, at least warm up the burger before sending it to be so it at least seems like you made an effort to give a customer fresh, edible food.
