Came in here for breakfast right at 6am and the service at the drive through was fairly quick. However, when you ordered a English Muffin with jelly and they send a plain muffin without jelly it's fail. This is without a doubt the worst experience I have ever had at a McDonalds restaurant in my life. I am a part of a filmmaking team here in Taos for the Taos film festival, and this was the first business I walked into. What a mistake. I ordered breakfast (from a very pleasant counter person) and went and sat down at a table. Within about 10 minutes a man came up to me and told me I could only be on the internet for 30 minutes. I told him I had just sat down and he started yelling at me! I thought I was on candid camera. I again reiterated that I just got there 10 minutes ago. I thought this man was a manager so I asked him if he was. NO I AM THE OWNER he shouted at me. And I will have you thrown out if you overstay your time. I was stunned. Literally stunned. I told him not to worry, I would leave now. And good luck with his attitude in attracting customers. Do the folks in Taos put up with this kind of behavior? And more importantly, does McDonald's Corporation allow their owners to treat customers this way? No wonder their company is losing sales every month. Although to tell the truth, this is the first horrible experience I have ever had with a McDonalds. I have never written a bad review about any company before. Not one time. In fact, I have often called McDonald's to praise one of their exceptionally courteous employees at another location. I was so insulted and disrespected by this owner of the McDonald's on Santa Fe Rd in Taos, that I will never never return again. I will never forget how unwelcome this horrible man made me feel. I don't usually eat McDonald's but my little sister loves it.. The few times that I have been to McDonald's the manager is very rude.. they messed up our order once and we asked for a refund, the manager came out with an attitude when it was their fault on messing up the order. And every single time I go inside, she's always yelling at the workers, having them run around like slaves. She wears glasses and has frizzy hair, I don't like the way she treats people at all! read more

The problem I have with this McDonald's is that they are very stingy about coupons and impose restrictions that are not stated on the coupon. I am a very frequent customer (I know it's sad) and even though they see me there at least twice a week, they still treat me as if I am a tourist and they'll never see me again. I know it is important to control costs, but being that stingy with a regular customer only creates ill will which is then spread to that person's friends and family. I know McDonald's does not care about me and this will have no effect on them, but I have not gone this week and probably will not go back for quite a while. I am a single mom with a 3 year old and recovering from surgery unfortunately when i went to pay my card wouldnt work and saddly i had no cash on me as i went to leave and explain to my daughter we had to go somewhere else the man checking us out stopped me and told me it was on him that i didnt have to deny my daughter she didnt have to know that we all have those moments they paid for our food and handed it to us and my daughter got all excited over her happy meal it took everything in me to stop from bawling this man will never know how much what he did ment to me. Students beware, this ones a doozy. I have a soft spot for mcdonalds. Many people really enjoy those nuggets. So much so that me and many other customers are willing to suffer the indignity of facing this joints management. Now sweating over a mcdonalds seems a'little odd, but after my most recent quarter pounder and cheese, OY-VEY! For about a good three years I have come to this place too feed my need for the nuggets. But alas it comes at the cost at being talked down to like a five year old. Being told to leave after I get my meal, or eat outside like a dog. For everything from wearing a winter coat in January, to wearing a laptop bag. I took all this with a grain of salt, and humor them. Working in the service industry myself, I understand i shouldn't be too annoying. But over the years I have understood my experience with taos mcdonalds staff was not insuler. That its this stores practice to act terribly to its customers. Every polite person I have had serve me is soon gone. only to be replaced in the hiatus by the same shrude people. hiding ketchup and soda behind soviet style lines and a counter. Getting orders wrong, throwing food in boxes, fries with no salt. For any who think mcdonalds fries could use less salt, there is a'limit. By the way, the salt is a behind the counter too, ask for it along with your second soda refill. That'll be a five minute wait. They seem to hate people under the age of thirty. If your out of high school, or are a college student getting a hot meal after exams. They don't care how quiet you are. or how many times you say thank you. They don't want people with laptop bags or backpacks as I said earlier. And now bicycles as well, so if your into that, forget it. Not allowed here. But i found out about the silly rule when I first walked in. I was simply eating, and a women claiming to be the assistant manager walked up to me right after serving me my food and I was seated. telling me too eat outside in the fourty degree weather. I thought it was a joke, and then I found she was serious. I said no politely, and she said if I did not leave the property immediately, she would call the police. I asked why, she said because of my "rucksack". A targus laptop bag with a laptop in it. I said "do you do this to all the students who come in here after school?"."Every one with a bag".Fast forward two years to yesterday, and the same thing happens to me and my brother because of his bike. They decided to throw out their bike railings in a remodel, oops. So my brother put his bike on a very untrafficked part of the store outside. Not good enough. We left, not our store, no biggy. But they do that to almost everyone I know my age or under at one point. anyone older they are just rude too. Any excuse, its happened to me a few times, yet they are still happy to take my money. It seems to always be a couple particular people over the past couple years. Every time with a sense of smug satisfaction on their face.You'll no who they are for the fact they do not wear name tags, unlike everyone else who works there. If you go there on a weekend, The crew is running the show, and are so polite. Thats the best time to go. Eating at a mcdonalds should't be very complicated. But me, my family, and community would like to be better served. If you(taos, mcdonalds) don't want people to bring their laptops to your establishment, don't provide free wifi. If you do not want to serve in-store customers, build a burger stand on the highway. read more

Worst experience at a McDonald's yet. Stopped at the drive thru for quick breakfast on the way to ski resorts. Everything was extremely greasy , they ignored our request for condiments and had to check twice. Ordered the hot caramel mocha one of my only few favorite items on the menu. The cup was only filled 3/4 of the way and had not been mixed at all. All the expresso was at the bottom. Over all it was terrible. On the way back, our little one asked for chicken nuggets, so we stopped. Thinking it was a fluke, wr stopped. the service was worst. We specifically asked for condiments and they tossed it what ever was around not even napkins. Asked for a small sweet tea and got regular. My husband and son shared 10 piece nuggets and within 1/2 hour both had stomach issues. The nuggets looked like they had been twice refried. They were awful. My little one spent the rest of the afternoon running to the restroom. Obviously there is no quality control, will never stop by again. read more

We live in Taos so fairly frequently eat at this McDonalds, which in our experience is the best one in New Mexico. It is fairly common in New Mexico to get diarrhea because employees do not wash their hands as often as they should. We have never had this occur with the Taos McDonalds, and some other fairly expensive and more famous eateries in Taos do have the problem. Unlike others writing here, we find the food is prepared well and the people are friendly and helpful. We also eat at Michael's Kitchen and Taos Diner in El Prado (better than the one across from McDonalds IMHO) and usually like them too, but honestly the Taos McDonalds has been more reliably, consistently good than even they have. When we need to drive the River Route to Santa Fe we usually stop by the Taos McDonalds to get Egg McMuffins, Apple Pies and split a large hot Mocha. I am sorry if other people have had a bad experience but our long term experience (over 10 years living near Taos) has been so overwhelmingly positive that I felt compelled to post what we experience. read more
