McEwen's was absolutely fantastic! Everything we ordered was delicious. The BBQ duck confit enchiladas were an amazing appetizer, the grilled beef tenderloin and the ribeye was cooked perfectly and so flavorful, and McEwen's Famous Banana Cream Pie was the highlight of the meal! It was so yummy and the perfect ending to dinner. The service was friendly and attentive and the entire experience made for a wonderful date night. We can't wait to come back! It's a little snug in there. Wish we got to sit by the window instead of in the back with the swinging door but it was still very nice! My espresso martini was to die for. One of the best in the city!

I like the fish tacos, they have a little kick from the spice but also some coolness from the sauce. The roasted potatoes are always a must! I do not like the brisket tacos, they lack flavor and could use a sauce. Also do not sleep on the ahi tuna steak, you must eat it rare. I also enjoyed the banana creme pie, it reminds me of a banana pudding. The staff is always nice and welcoming and the restaurant has a unique aesthetic.

The service tonight was stand out! We sat at a high top and I wish I had remembered our servers name the recipe reads PMS... She was wonderful and well versed as well as enthusiastic about the food. Our meal was so fresh. We each started with a salad. A wedge, a Cesar and the McEwens house, sans cucumbers! Very fresh and each unique and amazing! Ambiance was laid back and chill and not too busy. Very clean. Our meals came out fresh and warm without a long wait. I had the amazing sweet potato catfish with greens and Mac n cheese, it was excellent. My daughter had the baked chicken with rice and green beans and my guy had the sea bass! We finished the night with the bread pudding! We each throughly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to our next visit. Mcewens is a local staple and consistently turns out reliably great meals.

I went there for lunch. The cabbage and bacon soup was a special. It had potential, but needed more seasoning. I ordered the Grilled Atlanta Salmon lunch special. It was seasoned with miso and pecan glaze, which was delicious. I got fried okra and mashed potatoes as the side. I got water as my drink and it was the most foul tasting tap water that I have every tried in my life. The service was just ok. The server, Grace, seemed to be more warm & friendly to everyone else in the building. I had to ask for a straw and for some reason they only have Cholula hot sauce, but no other hot sauce's like Texas Pete or Crystal Hot Sauce. You can give then a try, but it's nothing to write home about.

We spent time in Memphis in October. We wanted a special place to celebrate and found McEwen's. It is such a cozy and welcoming place. The staff was great. Friendly, engaging and efficient. Bert, one of the owners was amazing. He made us feel like part of the family. The food was also incredible. My husband had wanted a steak for his birthday and he got a great one. The food was so good in fact we ate there 3 times in 2 days! No one laughed at us, they just welcomed back in. If we are ever back in Memphis we are definitely going back to McEwan's!

Food: was amazing everything we tried was great. There were 3 of us so we tried different things and wow. Great! Service: also amazing. They were interactive and joking with us. A lot of places just want you in and out Ambiance: we sat in the bar area which was actually nice and very cozy almost like a speak easy no

Redfish over polenta w a Roasted Garlic and Crab Sauce w charred Broccolini

Out of towner here for business. Tried McEwens downtown on a Saturday night. 5:30 PM and restaurant was empty. We sat down and were great by our server who was friendly and took our drink order and quickly returned with our drinks. We ordered appetizers of Baked Brie and Short-rib Pasta. The baked brie was very good, warm and soft inside a crispy puff pastry. Served w crostini, blueberry compote, honey and arugula! Altogether in one bite it was delicious. All the different flavors complimented the brie!! The Short-rib Pasta was very good! House made pasta shaped the size of a nickel. The short-rib and the sauce/reduction coated the pasta. Perfectly cooked fall apart short-rib chunks were plentiful. My main course was Redfish over Polenta with charred broccolini! I almost always get Redfish when I can since the west coast rarely has redfish. The sauce was a light garlic and crab cream sauce. The fish was cooked perfectly and the silky sauce was a great addition to the fish and polenta! The interior is bistro style in a brick walled building!! I recommend McEwens if you are looking for a nice meal!

Amazing! My team and I visited for lunch not long after they opened. The ambiance was great, the manager and service staff were prompt and friendly, and the food was 10/10.

I was there with a large group enjoying a very nice evening dinner after watching the march of the ducks at the Peabody Hotel where it was an easy walk. We were seated in a large room which was able to handle the 40+ of us attending. Our offering of food was limited to fish, chicken, vegetarian and meat. I ordered the redfish served with mixed vegetables and green beans with minced garlic. The meal was very good as well as the service. Highly recommend.

Popped in here for lunch and immediately knew I'd try the Friday catfish lunch special. I love a restaurant that's flexible on changing up the sides, and McEwen's doesn't charge extra for it. The cornmeal fried catfish was extremely delicious! The server is sweet and extremely helpful in giving me the tartar sauce to go. I will definitely come back just to have it again.

My friend owns a larger catering/events establishment in Georgia and was excited about the menu at the establishment. We walked in (on a whim) and asked if tables were available (clearly we saw some on the patio and inside once we entered). The greeting from the hostess was - let's just say less than inviting. . It was around 7:40p and she said "well since you don't have a reservation, the soonest I can get you in is 8p" ...no problem we will walk around until then. My initial thought, screw this reservation - if the hostess has this type of demeanor, what could we expect in terms of service? As my friend was still excited about the menu and to taste some of the pairings, we decided to wait. At 7:59 (like clockwork), the notice of our table being ready was sent. The hostess seated us and again, I wasn't optimistic of what would occur during the visit. The server that greeted us was GREAT!!! We ordered SEVERAL appetizers and drinks and all were AMAZING - (the grilled avocado with the shrimp was worth the trip alone). For dinner we ordered Peking Duck and Ribeye Steak Salads (and more drinks). Both were amazing. And while the desserts looked divine, there was absolutely no room. We were impressed with the old Beauty Shop decor - it really was a conversation piece. It's small and quaint and we had a lovely chat with the patrons alongside us. The food and service EXCELLENT! I'm glad that I didn't follow my first inclination to leave (because of the hostess and the "curt" demeanor). On a high note, I did notice the hostess being very gracious to the others that she encountered. Maybe it was my cologne - not everyone likes to smell YSL ‍.

Many ordered the skate with brown butter which was world class. After dinner, 1 client remained due to difficulty getting Uber. He ordered a drink and was told the register was closed. I quietly asked the owner if he could offer the drink on the house, and he declined. Had he been more accommodating, ACRE would have been at the top of the list for a substantial number of subsequent business dinners. My fiancé and I decided we would give Acre another try last week. We ordered the striped bass entree for $49. When the dish arrived there was what could only be described as two scraps of fish: One piece was less than a half inch thick and about 4 inches long, and after some searching, we found a second piece about half that size. I have never seen a striped bass small enough to yield a filet that thin. We asked the server to ask the kitchen if that was intentional or if there was a mistake. We were hopeful that a "do over" would result in the entrée described on the menu. Unfortunately, the server was clearly not in our court. Her attitude was passive /aggressive or at best indifferent. Despite specifically asking what the chef had to say, we received no visit or even feedback from the kitchen. What could have been handled with a laugh and a new or different entrée selection, quickly became uncomfortable. Hindsight is 20/20, but we should have considered our first bad experience a clear message that the culture at Acre is not a fit for us. We will not be back.
