Its PGA Champ week and McGills was ready. The top notch staff was churning out the steaks and lobster and chicken. The menu was set to help expedite but all the classics were available. Started with the lobster bisque. Creamy and full of lobster bits. What was left got soaked up by the freshly baked bread. Skipped a salad and chose a chicken picatta over a steak. Going back tonite to try one of their cuts. The chicken was just as Morgan described. A bit tart but not overly tangy with lemon. Two breasts in a great sauce over my favorite pasta of angel hair. Finally the home made key lime pie which did rival one of my favorite spots in West Palm beach. Megans bar service could not have been more attentive and friendly for a busy busy booked up Friday. It was truly my pleasure to meet her. Atmosphere filled with energy but not loud. Wine prices the average for a mid range steak house. I'm heading back tonite for a wedge, steak and of course a slice of key lime. You cant go wrong stopping here with friends or traveling alone. read more

My family has been going to this restaurant for a tradition of birthdays and other special occasions for almost 20 years plus. However it's sad to see the establishment lose touch with personal service. The food was exceptional as always but the wait staff was rude condescending and refused to accommodate the simplest requests. But I will be taking my business across the street to mahogany from now on. read more

It was me and my husband's 37th anniversary tonight. We made reservations for the McGill's above hard rock but decided to go to the one closer to where we live. After all, we thought they were a franchise just to find out the original one (yale) is the crappy one. After telling our server THREE times about our anniversary he apologized each time and said he would let the manager know. My husband ordered the NY strip and couldn't even eat it because it had no seasoning, lobster tail? BLAND, soup? WATERY, the only thing that was appetizing was the BREAD!!!! Our server, (bless his heart!) Told us that the food there isn't great at all and way over priced. For someone working for this hell hole he sure did lay down some facts!!! The plates looked disgusting and our drinks arrived after getting our food packaged up. We complained to 2 other servers who looked like they had a couple of drinks themselves (probably ours) and they apologized as well. After we paid the bill, we were expecting a complimentary dessert which my friend who visits there quite often says that they do those kind of things. Nothing was offered, servers moved like they were high or drunk.....and food was terrible!!! The manager came right after we were getting up to apologize but we saved all of them the crap and got the heck out of there!!! I had to call my friend to tell her about the experience as well. I have been to McGill's several times over the years and it never fails to be delicious. We went on a Sunday night to meet my parents and celebrate our engagement. My mom and i both ordered the lobster boil Sunday special. It was about $10 cheaper than the filet by itself and you got a bacon-wrapped filet and a warm water lobster tail. The lobster tail wasn't the best I've ever had and was pretty chewy but the filet was excellent as always. And what a great price for surf and turf! Probably the most disappointing dinner experience I have had in awhile. Ordered the New York strip, wife ordered the halibut special. Steak came undercooked and fatty thought it was a ribeye. Terrible cut of meat. Nothing was hot including the fish. Sent it all back. Steak came back cooked right but remained a poor quality cut of meat. Fish was now dried out due to reheating. This was a $100 meal but was not reflective in the quality of food. Manager offered us free desert but was a poor compensation for such an overpriced meal. Will never go back and would not recommend. You can't charge that kind of money and not deliver on the quality of the food. read more

I brought my family in June 2021 and it was a great experience. Tonight I came for a meeting with friends and very disappointed. We love McGill's. Have been there for both happy hour and dinner several times. I am impressed with their bar, they have a good selection and amazing cocktails. Last night I had a cosmopolitan with Ciroc vodka (not everyone carries this vodka so it was nice to see they had a good selection). This is now my favorite cosmopolitan in Tulsa, it was prepared perfectly. My husband had a dirty Tito's Tini which is olive juice and Tito's vodka. Our friends started out with a cocktail and champagne and then switched to red wine. The service was attentive and professional. I see that some reviewers say this is dressy and it is an upscale atmosphere, but we were not dressed up last night (as we decided to go last minute and didn't have time to go home and change) and didn't feel out of place. Their menu has so many good entrees to choose from, and great appetizers too. Last night we ate on the later side so we skipped the appetizers, but I have had them before and they are excellent. I did eat too much bread, it was so good! My friend and I both had one of the specials (I think they had 4 specials last night)-parmesan encrusted halibut. Another special I was tempted to get was the filet and shrimp. With the halibut I had the seasoned rice and seasonal vegetables and she had the roasted red potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Our other friend had the strip steak and my husband had prime rib quesadillas. We all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. My husband woke up this morning and said how much he likes McGills. They have been around a long time and we are just starting to frequent it, we like it so much. read more

Giving it a four more for service and ambience. I prefer Texas Roadhouse better for casual dining and Fleming's for a more romantic setting. Hello Tulsa friends and family! Just had lunch at McGills this afternoon with a few colleagues. This is about our fourth or fifth time meeting up for lunch there, but I'm sadden to say today was our last day attending. Not because of the food, or the service because they're both outstanding! It's the poor and disgusting attitude of the manager. This is our second time sitting very close to the kitchen area where the employees would go back n fourth, in and out, and we could just hear the manager screaming at her employees as if they weren't human beings!!!!!! You could also hear her cussing in the dining room, not sure at what exactly (a little creepy). Im sure the employees have pretty good back bones but if I were to get yelled at like that I would've popped like bacon grease! Any who, I don't like to be around that type of behavior nor support it in any way! I'm very disappointed in the way McGills treat their staff. Come with more etiquette and decency! read more

On a business trip to Tulsa - just had dinner at McGill's - had to rush back to the hotel and fire up the laptop to review this one... I must say I was pleasantly surprised! From the exterior it looks like your average Irish Pub in a simi-urban strip mall. But looks can be deceiving! This is an excellent steakhouse! In fact, just a few little notches away from being a top tier steakhouse. The steak itself was excellent. I fine cut of NY strip topped with a mushroom sauce that the restaurant refers to as the Manhattan. Excellent taste, cooked as ordered (perfect medium rare). The steak is served with a choice of starch and the veggie of the day. If the steak itself was Manhattan unfortunately the presentation was more like Queens. The steak, potatoes, and veggies all crammed onto one small dinner plate. The presentation sort of reminded me of cafeteria food. There for a minute I thought the plate was made of plastic (it really wasn't). Anyway, the food was excellent. In fact the only complaint that I have food-wise is that the Cesar salad was overdressed. The wine list was a bit limited but there were some good choices. I found a nice Melbac that everyone at the table seemed to enjoy and went quite well with the beef. The overall atmosphere of the place is nice - kind of dark but not overly so. Basic steakhouse you might say. Service was friendly and professional. All in all this is a very good steakhouse, but in my book just a little shy of the 5-star Yelp. I'm not in Tulsa often but I think this one may make my "come back" list. read more

Consistently very good food, excellent service, at a fair price in a fine setting. What more could you want, especially for a special night out? Steaks, seafood, desserts -- they all are served in ample portions and attention is paid to the presentation. Unlike most reviewers, I don't automatically dole out five stars, so I really do mean to say this is a special place. I often get the "petite" prime rib and end up with a slab big enough for dinner and sandwiches the next day. This was the end of a business trip I had into Oklahoma, and looking for somewhere nice to spend our last night out. Co-worker and I headed over to the Hardrock Casino in Tulsa and saw the McGills on 19. One way elevator to the 19th floor and overlooked the entire city. It was very cool. Service was definately top notch. All the waiters/waitresses were dressed in white professional culinary clothing. Dining patrons were dressed business casual, and it was not busy at all in the middle of the week. I tortured my fellow co-worker to try the french onion soup, who he then later raved about while I had the lobster bisque. At the request of our Waitress, we were offered to try a sample of new appetizers. They were all delish if your a seafood lover. The salmon pate and cucumber thing was my favorite. The steaks are all high grade, and had excellent flavor. We were told the beef comes from a local place where the beef is grass fed. It was a very good evening to a very busy week. Very traditional offering of a steak, and then community vegetables that you see at more highend steak houses. The Ribeye I had was absolutely fantastic. read more

Suggested by my colleague who has lived in Tulsa for 10+ years, this is one of his favorite place to take out-of-town clients for dinner to a fine, yet comfortable dining experience. I would have to say after my first visit that the place didn't disappoint. Tuesday around 7pm and luckily didn't need reservations for a table of four (booth). Most of the clientele looked like they were dressed at least business casual, but maybe I missed some shorts in the dimly lit room. Definitely a fine steakhouse feel to this restaurant, yet not overly uptight or formal to make you uncomfortable for not wearing a jacket. Kansas City Strip aged prime beef looked really good, but my waitress convinced me to go with the center cut Filet Mignon topped with a touch of peppercorn mustard and fried onions (always have loved onions). Their bread was served warm, salad (house & Caesar) also solid, new crop red potatoes served just at the right temperature (neither overcooked nor raw), and country veggies tasted like they were freshly picked from local sources. My colleague went with the surf and turf = $49.95 for 6oz filet mignon & 8oz lobster tail. Our waitress mentioned that you could upgrade to a 10oz filet + 14oz tail! McGill's is a staple type restaurant. They have the classic dishes that will always be a favorite indulgence for someone. My personal favorite is the Pasta Lobster. The sauce is to die for and the lobster is sweet and succulent. When I dined here last I ordered the Sunday special which consisted of a 5 oz. filet and a 5 oz lobster tail. I was hesitant to order this because I feared that my lobster would come out overcooked. My fear unfortunately came true - my lobster was overcooked and dry. Not so good. But the filet was yummy and the asparagus was good too! Let me rewind for a moment though - I tend to be picky about my caesar salads. And I should have asked about the dressing. Some people like a creamier dressing, but I'm not a fan. The dressing on their caesar is creamy - so if you prefer the contrast - be advised. :) I wouldn't rave about McGill's to everyone I meet based on this visit, but I have been there before and had the Pasta Lobster which I would rave about. I went here last night for dinner as I am on a business trip for work and really enjoyed my food. I sat at the bar and there was enough people to make it feel friendly but it was not overly busy. It is really dark in here so it took a few minutes for my eyes to adjust but they did. I sat at the bar and my bartender was fairly attentive yet busy. What I really liked about this place is that it's a great steakhouse with no frills and affordable fine dining prices. The wine list was decent for a place like this and there were more than enough choices. The wine by glass was fairly priced for the brands and where the wine came from. I had a really nice pinot grigio that was only $7 a glass. I ordered bruchetta for an appetizer and it came out quickly and well prepared. I enjoy it, the ingredients were fresh and it was made well. The only complaint would be they had raw red onion in it and traditionally onion doesn't go in bruchetta and can overpower the flavor of tomato and basil. It was still good though. Served simply with about 8 large pieces on the plate. For dinner I ordered the petite filet with garlic mashed potatoes. The steak was just amazing. It was cooked perfectly medium, a hint of seasoning so the flavor of the meat could come through, a great cut of quality meat, really tender and melt in my mouth. The veggies served with it were cooked crisp tender, The mashed taters were homemade and decent but didn't impress. The steak was the show stopper. Overall good service, acceptable wine list, smaller menu but typical of most steak houses because the steak is supposed to be the superstar which it is here. We had dinner here the other night with some old friends we hadn't seen in years. We made reservations on a Saturday night but when we arrived the place was surprisingly empty - no reservation needed. Service: Our waitress was very attentive and took very good care of us. In fact, she kept my coffee so full I had trouble sleeping that night. Food: I had the NY Strip which was absolutely the worst cut of meat I have ever had and I have had some bad cuts of meat. I had to cut about 1/3 of it away because it was nothing but gristle. Then I didn't finish it because it was honestly too much trouble to chew. My wife had the filet which came out looking a bit like a charcoal briquette. Definitely overcooked and not tender at all. Our friend ordered pork chop with applesauce on top - it looked like cheese. He didn't say anything but he didn't eat half of it. Atmosphere: We had a nice evening catching up with friends. Music was nice and the place was cozy. We stayed past closing as time got away. We heard the staff comment that "We were still there" although it was right at closing time so we wrapped things up and headed out (I have never stayed anywhere past closing and felt bad that we kept the staff a little late) . Overall: I don't give many one star reviews but the quality of all our meals was so poor for the price there simply is no way to give McGills anything else. Not sure what has happened to the quality I remembered in the past but this was more than poor preparation on the cooks part - this was a combination of poor quality and poor prep. This restaurant certainly lived up to the "fine dining" expectations. The food was really quite good, the atmosphere was nice (a little dark and hard to read the menu, but nice), and the service was excellent. Everyone in my party (of 15) enjoyed their meals and the experience. I couldn't have asked for a better restaurant for a group so large. I will say I tend to not order seafood when inland (I'm from Maryland after all and we have GOOD seafood), but I ordered the halibut stuffed with crab and it was very tasty. Of course, seafood prices are overly expensive here, but that's partially due to location. All in all, an excellent place and one I would return to. read more

I visited McGill's during a business trip to Tulsa - this was the second visit. I have to say, I'm not sure what brought be back aside from the location and food option (steaks/seafood). I had a mediocre experience the first time and the second visit was about the same. The service was good - the place was very busy (surprisingly so for an early weeknight) but it took way too long to get our food and finally our check at the end of the meal. It seemed like our server was juggling alot of tables so we'll give her the benefit of the doubt. The food was ok...nothing outstanding and of the six people on our party, I don't think anyone was ready to rave about their dish. The decor in McGill's is "steakhouse style" and could stand a little updating in my opinion. I have been to another steakhouse not too far from McGill's but we were looking for something a bit more reasonably priced - at this location I think you're getting exactly what you pay for. read more

Met a client for lunch here and the food was on par with the Sizzler (if they still have those). Bread was hard from sitting under heat lamp or in warmer. I started with the Caprese salad and the tomatoes were not very ripe and the mozzarella was not fresh; was hard as well. Denny's-quality food at luxury-level prices. The food was average but its high price warranted high expectation. It didn't deliver; it shouldn't have fleeced its customers. For such a high price and merely average product, the McGill's by 61st & Yale deserves a below average rating. Service was above average and very courteous, but the food was average. You know, this is a nice restaurant. I had there special that night, the surf and turf. The crap legs were excellent, but the sirloin....subpar. I would stick to their seafood here for sure. My father had the ribeye and had the same complaint I did about my steak- under seasoned. We loved the appetizers, the mushroom caps are to die for, and their wedge salad perfect. Skip the Caesar salad though, very weak dressing (almost store bought tasting). All in all good food, but at the end of the night you might be spooked by the bill because it is a bit pricey. read more

I have always enjoyed McGill's so I was looking forward to the Easter Buffet. Never been so disappointed in my life. Food was cold and bland, the starches were just a big blob I couldn't even get off the serving spoon. . No fish or seafood, except a lobster pasta. Only problem was they forgot the lobster. Desserts were non-existent, which is sad as I have always enjoyed their desserts. I don't consider a piece of French toast in a martini glass with syrup a dessert. Also, a glass of chocolate milk. Completely not up to your standard McGill's. Will be a long time before I venture back to McGill's. read more
