This is a good place to get your smog. I suggest getting and appointment as they can be busy. They will squeeze you in if you are a walk-in. There is no upsell or trying to scam you at this business. I notice they don't try to scam the women customers either so they have at least half women customers every time I go there. I have been using them for years and highly recommend them. This star certified smog center is the best! Called for an appointment and was able to get both of our vehicles in half an hour later. The administrative professional IS professional, knowledgeable and kind. A gentleman came in and had a rather long-winded story, but she patiently listened to him and empathized with his problem. I also appreciate that when quoted a price, I was told $40. Not like a previous experience I had elsewhere, which had a $29.95 "coupon," but by the time they added the fee for the smog certificate and taxes, etc., it ended up being $39.95 anyway. Great place to get a smog done. I stumbled upon this place while waiting for my husband to grab a few things from O'Reilys. I live in Salida and attempted to get a smog closer, but the shop was swamped and wanted to charge about $60 total. I didn't make an appointment at McHenry Smog, but the owner had a break in between and totally took my car in. The waiting area is clean, cool and full of great stuff to look at. I called to see if I had to make an appointment (it was a Sunday) and a very courteous woman on the phone said they could get me in right away. I drove down and the same woman on the phone was at front desk and wrote me up, told me I get a $5 discount for coming in on a Sunday and was out within 10 mins. Very personable, quick service, very fair prices. They were almost half the price of another of place that screwed up our smog (wrong vin) so we ended up here. This is the ONLY place my husband and I ever take our vehicles. We always make an appointment and they have us in and out in less than 20 minutes. Just show up, hang out for 20 (we walk across the street and get a starbucks) and your done. They handle all the paperwork and the price is right. What's to add? This place is excellent. If you schedule during the week, you can often get same day service. I have had three different vehicles tested here and have always been happy with the service, price, and the customer experience. The owner is very courteous and takes the time to go over the results.
