Went here to smog my 2007 Toyota Corolla. Had no problems getting in and out, fair pricing and everything was smooth. I had to go here because Stanislaus smog was closed on Sunday, where I normally get my smog. I would recommend both Stanislaus Smog and this place, I'll update this review if I ever have a close call or failed smog. Like many places in Modesto, not the easiest place to walk but across the street there is TeaDaze and a Barnes and Noble. Our smog took about 30-minutes, you can also walk to the movie theater if you're feeling adventurous. read more

My car did not pass smog to start and the young man told me to drive 100 miles and come back. Which I did do, only for me to comeback and he decided to close the shop 2 hours early. To add insult to injury, he told me to come back tomorrow morning and forgot he told me to come back on a Sunday. I do understand as a local business that you might need to close early when it's slow. But when you tell your customer to come back the same day and decide to close early is very poor customer service. That was the first time I went to McHenry Smog and it will definitely be my last! PS, I took my car up the street and it passed! So take your car to either Valley Smog & Tags or Stanislaus Smog instead if you want good customer service! read more

I love the staff. Selling a car and it didn't pass since I had recently changed the battery. They were so accommodating on a weekend to give me instructions to get the car error codes cleared, and rechecking multiple times after I put some miles on the car. Would never take my car anywhere else for smog services. read more

After having 1 bad experience at Freedom smog on Kansas which I go for Veteran discount since 2009... I'll never go back there again This is my new smog place and cheaper than the other place by $3. Even with "military discount" Was in and out within 10-15 min or less .. friendly staff and there was 1 guy working here and working the quickest he could to get everyone in and out. I totally understand why Mchenry Smog Center has 5 stars and I just wanted to help them continue that. I was immediately greeted and helped. We were there all of 15 minutes and in the meantime we got to sit in the waiting room and observe all the cute pugs! Great price and service, not to mention hassle free! Needed to smog my 95yo father in law's car on a Saturday (I live in Oakland). Silly me tried some other shops first, but they were either closed (contrary to yelp info), or "too busy". Since I didn't have an appointment, I did have to wait, but not for long. I did get a chance to observe their interactions with other customers -- always friendly, clear, and empathetic (their car failed the test). If I lived closer, I'd bring my vehicles here to smog! This was the quickest smog I have ever got. The service was great! I just got out of my car and already had someone helping me and they just opened. I think I was only there for about 15 minutes and I was already on my way. You can tell they all take their jobs serious and take pride in the work they do. Best smog shop I've dealt with , First time i went he informed me that if he ran it , my car would be an automatic fail due to my cel not functioning properly (most shops won't let you know that just to make a quick $) , after i returned he ran my car on the dyno and kept me informed each step and also was kind enough to go the extra mile To ensure my car was hot to burn better . 100% probably THE BEST smog shop I've ever dealt with .
