Dr Han is probably one of the best dentists I've had. Their office is very professional. And excellent patient communication . He explained every step of the way including hidden costs that dentists charge. They have one of three machines that scan and make your crown in two hours on site !! Amazing !! They cut me a break on part of my procedure due to another dentist error.i would highly recommend Mckenzie dental and they also work with payment plans, braces ect . Mckenzie Dental did a great job extracting a tooth for my daughter. They did everything they could to make sure she was comfortable. She told me it didn't hurt just a few pinches from the numbing pricks. They were also super fast and got to us quickly. I liked Dr Lee but the front office is a mess. They messed up several appts and my last hygienist was awful, bad cleaning and rude. My biggest peeve was that they cannot explain their billing and payment system and if you ask they try to make it all your fault. I was a patient in that office for 25+years and never had any problems until about 3-4 years. read more

I looked for a new Dentist in my city, Springfield and found this one listed online. So I scheduled an appointment to get an X-ray because I felt pain on one of my molars which had the crown fall off and sometimes the pain was quite bad. So they got me in fairly fast and took an X-ray. The X-ray clearly showed a problem but for some reason this dentist wanted confirm through the "PAIN" test. Now I have had a few different dentist in my time but I have never had one do what this guy did. He put something on my ground down tootle minus the crown and the pain was so bad I about jumped out of the chair. Then he wanted to do it again to another tooth next to the one he just caused extreme pain to. I said no. But that was not the only problem I have with this dental clinic. This is a very hurried office where they don't have rooms, just deviding walls so they can get more chairs in a small area. They want you in, quick hurried work and get you out. On the day of my first visit, I was getting in my car to go to my Dental appointment and as I closed the car door, I received a call, it was the Dental office wanting to know if I wanted to come in 15 minutes earlier. Are you kidding me?????? What do they think I live next door? Then finally they quoted me appx $2,500 for I root canal and crown, with appx $1500 out of pocket the day of the work. Remember, this tooth was already ground down to prepare it for a crown making his job much easier to begin with and I would think faster and cheaper. Not. So I cancelled my appointment booked a flight and hotel room in San Diego at the Westin Hotel in the Gas Lamp District and scheduled an appointment with a Dentist in Tijuana, Mexico all for about $320 less than my co pay alone would have been at Mckenzie Dental. I personally am not comfortable in places where they are racing around from one patient to another to maximize their profits every day. I will never go back. A root canal and crown in Mexico is appx $690 total compared to appx $2500 here. read more

I was experiencing tooth pain with an upper molar. I had purchased the McKenzie Dental Insurance plan and went in to see Dr. Lee for a consult. He did a cold test upon my tooth, told me he thought it was infected and that I would need a root canal, so he scheduled me to have it done with Dr. Park. When the appointment came I had further questions about my treatment. Dr. Park told me she "only does root canals" and called in Dr. Song to consult with me. Dr. Song explained to me that my tooth was infected because the filling was leaking and that a root canal would only be a temporary solution to my problem, because the crown on the tooth did not completely cover the tooth & filling because of the an inadequate bone ratio. So I had 3 options. 1) root canal that would not be a permanent solution because of the bone ratio. 2) extraction of tooth, but if nothing else was done, would probably lead to more problems because it is the last upper molar and I would not have an opposing tooth for chewing 3) have a tooth implant. I decided to think over my options and had No Service performed on me. Later that month I received a bill from Dr. Park (through McKenzie Dental Center) for $191 (her charge for her time as best as it was explained to me). Mind you the consult I received was from Dr. Song. Dr. Park sat there the entire time and said nothing. What I find most disturbing in this process is that Dr. Lee did not give me all of my options before scheduling the root canal. I feel it was a lack of full disclosure. The office manager at McKenzie Dental Center told me that the Doctor's notes in my file said all of this was explained to me and that there is a difference of opinion of what I was told and when, therefore I would still be billed $191 by Dr. Park. With the office insurance plan you receive a 15% discount on all dental services, in this case I was told there is no discount because Dr. Park is an independent contractor with McKenzie Dental Center and her services are not included in the dental insurance. This information was never given to me ahead of time and I had no reason to think any service I received would not be discounted 15%. I hope whoever reads this will see it as a precautionary story. You may or may not be receiving full disclosure regarding any proposed treatment plan. I have been a long time patient of this dental practice and I write this review reluctantly. I understand how easily computer notes can be changed or modified. I am telling a true story and feel I'm being unfairly charged for Dr. Park's time, because I did not receive a full explanation from Dr. Lee to begin with, or that there were services not included in the dental plan. read more

2 days after 7 years old son had fillings done he got 2 gum abscess on those teeth. Took about 2 month to fix what was done by this dentist! Couple teeth was have to pulled out, the rest was crowned to save what he had left. And a lot of antibiotics. 2 other dentists said (based on copy of ex ray from McKenzie) those teeth was not fillings in a first place. Dental sealant should be used. BTW: The bill to fix was over $2800.00 Stay away from this place! read more

Sarah, Dr. John and Jeannie were excellent, often asking how I was doing. Not once did I feel uncomfortable or pain. So glad my husband found this great, caring group of people to care for us. I recently switched to McKenzie Dental Center and am very impressed by their honest great work. From the moment I walked in, I knew I found the right dentist office. I don't have dental insurance and they have a great affordable program. Also, I was told from a previous dentist that I needed 3 teeth worked on very soon. McKenzie Dental Center said I only had 1 tooth that needed work. My previous dentist was telling me that I needed to come in every 3 months for expensive cleanings. This new dentist said every 4 months would work fine. From the reception desk, to the hygienist, to the dentist, I am very impressed! read more

So, I saw Dr Lee on my first visit. We were changing dentists to be closer to home. My exam was the most thorough I've had. I lost a tooth last year between my molar and another tooth but I was managing fine. After my exam he explained the condition of the remaining molar and basically convinced me I should get a bridge. After thinking it over I scheduled it. During the procedure I felt he was being very aggressive in prepping my teeth (while discussing big foot with his assistant.) Long story short, it's 3 weeks today and I am still having pain. Our last discussion went like this "hmmm, you may need to have a root canal..... keep in touch." I know you cannot predict outcomes but aren't you supposed to fully inform the patient on the possibilities and risks? I was never told there was a chance of failure nor warned that due to the condition of the tooth there could be a bad outcome. I have not heard from the office for over a week now, so, there doesn't seem to be any reasonable follow up. In closing I had good interactions with the other staff but my first impression of Dr Lee seems to have been wrong. read more

I just had a tooth pulled at McKenzie Dental. I suffer from severe dental anxiety.. Dr. James Lee is absolutely AMAZING! Ever had an injection in the roof of your mouth? I didn't even feel it! Seriously! I can't say enough about him and his assistant! Very gentle and kind and they both made absolutely sure I was never experiencing discomfort. Very upsetting! I went in two months ago, had an exam and they said they were sending the estimate paperwork to my insurance. I called back twice, they told me each time they were still waiting. I recently received the paperwork copy from my insurance. Mckenzie Dental still never called me, when I know they received the estimate decision back from my insurance, because I did. But because my insurance only would pay a small portion, I guess they didn't feeI I deserved their time any longer. I work hard and happen to have crappy dental insurance that I pay for. Shame on this company for treating people like this. I hope to find another dentist that will make me feel important and show they care by offering me help. read more

The best dental care I've ever had, period. I recently had a crown replaced (one installed by another dentist), due to decay beneath it. Not only did Dr. Lee and his team fix the decay, but they fit me with a new crown. The new crown fit so perfectly, it made me realize how mis-sized the previous crown was, the one given to me by another dentist. Immediately my teeth felt better, I could floss more easily and I had no more jaw pain, something I figured I'd just have to live with. Not only that, but there was zero pain after the new crown, no hot/cold sensitivity, nothing, it felt perfect! The following day, and again the day after that, I received calls from the dental assistant, asking me how everything felt. I've never experienced that kind of service and genuine caring. A great, positive staff and team of dentists...our whole family now goes to McKenzie Dental Center, and I have some other "teeth fixing" projects in the works with them. read more

After explaining to them before my scheduled appointment to get my 4 wisdom teeth out that I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks the doctor refused to give me any kind of sedative or gas. Dr. Lee stated that he could give me something to calm me down but when it came time to do the procedure he refused then stated that I should just see an oral surgeon if I was that nervous. (by this point I had already waited 4 weeks for an appointment) I decided to tough it out. When leaving I was given a very small amount of pain killers and let them know I didn't think it would be enough (8- 5mg hydrocodone). I was in so much pain that they said I needed to bring in the previous RX and they'd exchange for a new one. I brought them in and when the lady up front handed me the new RX I told her she needed to give me the ones I had shown her because I had paid for them so they were mine. She looked at me like I was asking for something crazy. I ended up leaving with the new RX and the old one. A few days later I was having extreme pain and thought I may have dry sockets...he told me he didn't feel comfortable putting the clove paste in and referred me to another surgeon. The place I went thought that was really weird that he refused to do it himself. I ended up pulling bone out of my gums 4 weeks later and being in a tremendous amount of pain for a month. The worst part was the treatment I received from the other Oral surgeon's office that Dr. Lee referred me to cost me an additional $200 on top of what I paid to Dr. Lee. He could have done what they did and saved me that money. I would NEVER recommend going to this clinic. Yes, they were nice but very incompetent. read more
