These guys are amazing. Fast service, fair prices, and everyone in the Company is excellent. They were on time and I paid exactly what they said I would pay. I am in Huntington Beach and they had lots of jobs in my area. Great customer service. I needed my main line to the street to be jetted out with the camera and the hose/jet snake thing. The last plumber charged me double what they charged me. They were very communicative and responsive and clearly showed me where the tree roots were coming into the main line. Then they snaked my shower line and they quickly snaked my sink and in thirty seconds fixed the slow drainage by pulling out a wad of hair and they didn't even charge me. Take note people, this is why you give your plumbers drinks and pizza when they come. I seriously loved these guys. I trust their pricing. read more

I discovered a dripping faucet in our downstairs bathroom and called McKeown on Friday (based on seeing their trucks in Laguna and knowing they've been in business a long time) and they scheduled for 8:30am to 10:00am on Monday. The plumbers showed up right on schedule and that's the last positive thing that happened. He examined the wall mounted faucet and said the stems were "frozen in place" likely to due corrosion. I thought this was odd as it's a high quality fixture that's only 8/9 years old. He said Laguna's water is very hard. Hmm. He also seemed confused as to how to remove the stems as he asked us for a CAD drawing of the parts. He said he'd order the parts which should arrive in a day or two and left our house. We were billed $185. Why not $145 which should cover 30 minutes of inspection? No idea. I then noticed the leak had stopped. Strange - he had fiddled with the stems so I wondered if he had inadvertently fixed the problem by tightening them. I reattached the faucet handles, tightened them into place....still no leak. I called the plumber and he was pretty gruff and said "the leak will definitely come back, I don't know why it stopped but you should replace the stems they're corroded." I called the office and complained that a) the plumber seems confused and b) why was the bill $185 instead of $145. The office manager to her credit was very polite. She said she'd look into crediting the $185 against the final bill. The next morning I checked the faucet again. Still no leak. I then received the estimate for replacing the stems. $880. So $185 + $880 = $1,065 to replace two stems for one faucet. Are you kidding me lol? Oh and the estimate just says "flat rate" so you have no idea what sort of hourly labor rate you're paying and/or the parts pricing + markup. Needless to say I told them forget it the leak stopped anyway and if it comes back I'll find someone else. We've owned the home 7 years and have had a few plumbing jobs done so am very familiar with what is reasonable. Judging from other reviews here I'm guessing the owner will comment on my review twisting the facts to suit his narrative. Buyer beware...stay away from these guys. I understand ownership changed a few years ago so perhaps the old reputation doesn't apply anymore. UPDATE IN RESPONSE TO RESPONSE BELOW: "he found that both valve stems were heavily corroded and seized in place. At this time, our Plumber did indicate to you that this would require more than a brief inspection (the $145 Minimum Dispatch Fee for Arrival initially quoted and approved by you) and quoted $180 for the required troubleshooting, which you approved" I had another plumber inspect the valve stems and he said "they appear as good as new." This took him about 15 minutes. I approved $145 for a dispatch fee the fee was increased to $185 only because the plumber stayed for an inordinate amount of time because he could not figure out how to inspect the valves. The $145 covers 30 minutes of analysis. How he was unable to determine the problem in 30 minutes is beyond me. "Regarding the service charge, our technician was on site for well over an hour performing diagnostics, inspecting the faucet, attempting to free the seized stems, researching the manufacturer's parts, and determining the safest repair method." Again, this was plumber error - it should have taken him far less than an hour as it did for a different plumber. "researching the manufacturer's parts" is laughable - my wife called me and WE had to do the research ourselves and text him the publicly available blueprints available online. "We also spoke after the service and communicated to you that the $800 quote for repair covered both the initial dispatch for troubleshooting (roughly 1 hour), as well as the repair ". No. I received an ADDITIONAL estimate for $880. This was in addition to the $185 I already paid. So my $1,065 is correct and you are wrong. So $300 for the stems = $580 for labor. What on earth? How many hours can it possible take to install two faucet stems? The rest of the response doesn't merit a response from me - again this was plumber error as proven by a second opinion from a plumber that has done work on our home previously and so has proven to be very effective and MUCH more reasonable cost wise. The only reason I went with McKeown originally was because my original plumber was tied up for a few days. Avoid McKeown at all costs. read more

You need to be weary of their pricing. If you are okay paying 2 to 3 times what it should cost they are probably okay. They showed up next day but they quoted $6,600 (with $700 off for fast payment) to replace a 1hp septic pump. They did the same thing late in 2024 and it was $3,600 which was high. I called around and was quoted a maximum price of $2,500 by 2 other plumbers and they came out to fix it next day for almost 1/3 the cost. It is their business and if that is how they want to do business that is their choice but most people work hard for their money and are willing to pay for a service but it just felt like a robbery. If you are okay with overpaying for a service they are probably okay. read more

We are located in Southern California and called McKeown Plumbing because our kitchen sink was backed up. Unfortunately, they could not come for a couple of days so we called. Dial One Sonshine. They came out and attempted to snake the drain which did not work. They said the drain was so compacted that they could not try Hydro jetting. They gave us two options - one was to tear apart our house on the inside to find where the pipe was clogged; or the second option was to tear apart the outside wall and hardscape on the outside of the house and run a new line to the main sewer line. The first option was just over $15,000 and the second option was over $22,000. We decided we needed a second opinion and scheduled McKeown to come out and they did the next day. They had two technicians who worked their butts off, used the Hydro jetting, and solved the problem that day. It was somewhat expensive, but only $2500 which was a huge improvement over the options we were provided by Dial One. Needless to say, we are big fans of McKeown! read more

PLUMBER: He did an OK job on what he did but did not finish what he started. On arrival, he immediately identified two pinhole pipe leaks. He acknowledged my praise at his finding the second pinhole leak. However, he later changed his story to claim that the second leak was not a leak but only a significantly corroded pipe that was likely to leak in the future. He repaired one leak but only patched the second. He never did a permanent fix on the second leak and never explained why he left a rag under the patched pipe. Management/Customer Service: I requested a no-charge return visit with the Plumbing Supervisor to permanently fix the second leak. He seemingly agreed and we scheduled a revisit to do the work. However, the Manager/Co-Owner Walter did not approve and therefore caused two no-show appointments, without notifying me, by withholding his approval for a follow-up visit. Subsequently when I finally talked to him, Walter insisted on an additional payment before he would authorize a return visit to fix the second leak. He exhibited total disregard for my lost time because of the no-show appointments and insisted, per his plumber, that the second leak was not a leak. Walter explained how many customers they have and how many annual calls they make; i.e. he didn't care about fixing my leak or having me as a satisfied customer. ' PRICING: Nobody could or would explain their pricing. I asked two office attendants, the plumber, the plumbing supervisor and finally Walter, the Manager/Co-Owner. The standard response was that everything is charged at a "flat rate". No additional explanation was provided. read more

After the plumbing company that re-piped my house in 2011, weaseled out of their so called "warranty," I decided that I would rather pay somebody else to repair their shoddy work. To the rescue, McKeown Plumbing! First, they were receptive to my need for a quick fix. Other places I called were rather disinterested, (no call backs), or wanted to charge a $89 service call fee. The receptionist at McKeown's was cordial, professional, & actually listened to my situation. They scheduled a tech the next morning, who showed up at exactly the appointed time. All free of charge. Angelo drove up in a company van, emblazoned with their logo, he evaluated my situation, offered a reasonable estimate to locate. Found the issue, again reasonable cost to fix it. After the first attempt, it was discovered the there was an additional leak just above the first. No problem, Angelo patiently affected the more elaborate repair without increasing the price. When all work was completed, he cleaned up the area. The final cost was slightly less than his repair estimate, Thank you! I will be using them in the future, they provided 100% customer satisfaction. No BS sales pressure. Honest advice on ways to remedy issues. e-mailed a comprehensive receipt for services. We had a complex plumbing issue with one of our showers. Before the plumber actually came out we went back and forth via emails making sure the issue was well understood and the correct fixture numbers were figured out. If we hadn't done that I'm positive it would have taken more than one trip. The plumber arrived yesterday and after some discussion, and my obtaining schematics of the unit he fixed it on one trip. Charged me $155 to tell me my kitchen sink soap dispenser plastic bottle (worth $3) was cracked. Diagnosis of the problem took 2 minutes. Would not go down on price. Would not agree to come back later as part of that price to install new bottle. I deleted them from my contacts. Fool me once... The inside of a shower separator has come off and needs to be replaced with a plastic pole. (I opened it myself) A friend introduced this vendor, and some of our properties down the hill were done by this vendor, and the price was moderate. But the service to my home was unacceptable. Three simple repairs, without quote and we did not agree to, directly charge 800 cash. There are three children and a wife who does not speak English. We complain, their manager said that the fee is reasonable, then told us to go online to see whether it is reasonable. read more

It kepkept stopping up the toilets. The house is very old. They got the job done quickly, even though it was a lot of digging under a patio. Then put everything back better than it was before they started. They cleaned up the area, wore shoe covers and masks in my home, and they were friendly and thoughtful. I tried to do a "do it yourself" plumbing repair yesterday! Alas, that was a disaster, and I really thought that I had created a disaster!!! I called McKeown Plumbing (after their closing hour, but they answered ), and they had David (& David!) here today at 1:00! When I showed them what I had tried to do (replace a shower valve), the first thing that he told me was that it wasn't a big problem and that it happens to people all the time (the old valve broke in the plumbing!) We have used McKeown plumbing for over 30 years they were always reputable and honest. I have heard that there are new owners and I can believe that! We had a water heater installed in a rental and they charged us $1500 which seemed ok. A little high when i called other plumbers. Then 2 months later we needed an identical water heater installed in an identical rental and they sent us a bill for $2600. The EXACT job. We complained and they took off some of the bill but not to the amount of the first replacement. I have spoke with others and they all agree with me. They are now not honest and not reputable. McKeown consistently has the most courteous and professional service from the front office to the plumbers. They brought in extra help on the weekend to replace a leaking gas line. They Were thoughtful in considering the best approach to avoid damaging hardscape and plants. They finished the job on time even though underground they encountered large chunks of concrete that required bringing in another crew to jackhammer through the concrete. Really bad end to end experience on trying to fix a master bath shower. I would not recommend using this company. Charged over $400 in labor and left the shower in worse shape than prior. Then went back and forth for months waiting on parts only to come back and say there was nothing else they could do. Shower not working and plumbing company says nothing they can do after they put your shower in a worse condition? Terrible handling by a service company. read more
