Called in today because my cars acceleration was very low And was making a weird noise when shifting gears. They said i could bring in it for a free code scan and road test so i packed up my 2 year old and took it down. They were very nice and professional. Within 30 minutes they figured out what it was, quoted me and gave me a ride back to my house. They had it fixed and ready to go the same day! I have 3 boys that i drive to corona everyday and couldnt afford to not have my car working and they made sure i didnt have to! They even came and picked me up when my car was ready! I originally had been referred to a national chain to get my brakes and tires done, but they turned me away. They tried sending me somewhere pretty far away, and knowing it was almost 4 already there would have been out of luck. I am so glad I went to yelp and found this place! Kevin was wonderful, they were able to stay to do all the work and even added in the oil change I was seriously over due on! McNairs is a place of business you need to avoid. Took my vehicle in for a tune up which involved spark plugs. $500+ later, truck ran no better, actually worse. A few months had passed and developed a ticking sound coming from the engine. The short story is after many visits to many shops including Fritz Ford who wanted to charge thousands for a cam phasers, I took it to a recommended mechanic in Orange, after much trouble shooting he pulled the spark plugs and found that McNairs installed the cheapest plugs which were also incorrect for the vehicle. Correct plugs installed, ticking gone and the truck runs like new. Stay away from McNairs. read more

Took my car there today to have a check engine light checked out, the shop was quite busy but they still got a look at my car pretty quickly. The gentleman that helped me was very polite and friendly and seemed like a confidant mechanic as well as the rest of the crew. Car broke down in Riverside on Monday evening lost most of the coolant, fortunately it made it to a parking lot where it could be left overnight. Live in another city so was unfamiliar with repair shops in the area. Prayed for guidance and started researching Yelp for where to have it towed next day. Found many great reviews about McNair's. Went there first thing the next morning and spoke with Kevin and arranged to have the car towed in by Towing Solutions. Which, by the way, turned out to be the best choice by far, I'll write my review on them next. Anyway, McNair's turned out to be the best place that I've ever had service done on any vehicle ever. I've been driving for over 40 years in many different cars. This shop was fair and efficient. Turned out to be an upper hose that sprung a leak. Recommended​ that we should start with replacement of the hose first to be able to run the vehicle to see if there was any further damage. I was very blessed that there wasn't and was able to add a thermostat with gasket and a tune-up. Was not pressured in any way to add these other services after seeing that the hose replacement worked to get the car back on the road. How refreshing to find this treasure of a repair shop that is focused on helping rather than just gouging the consumer for all they can get. McNair's gets my highest recommendation. They could have easily replaced the brakes and taken my money, but did not! Told me it wasn't necessary. And the price for the tires was lower than the dealer and another local tire place. Patched a nail hole promptly while I was at lunch next door at a local eatery. The patch did not quite work out (slow leak persisted). Returned 4 days later and received the same prompt and courteous service (no charge for the re-repair). This time, the patch held. The mechanic explained what happened, demonstrated the new patch using the soapy water test, and checked prices for a new set of tires (my tires were well worn). read more

I was told by the Service department of Toyota Riverside that the repairs I needed on my Toyota would total approximately $1200 and of course my warranty had just run out. I high-tailed it out of there and took my car to McNair's and first of all, they confirmed my suspicion that some of the things Toyota said I needed to repair were absolutely unnecessary. Second, they gave me a good price and repaired only what I needed. My car is now running fantastic and I only spent $435. That is a huge savings. Every neighborhood needs a mom and pop place like McNair's where they've been there for years, the people are honest, and they tell you if something doesn't need to be repaired even though that means that they don't get the extra money. I go to McNair's exclusively for brakes and oil changes because I know they do it right. I would rather spend $35 for my oil change there than go to Jiffy Lube or Express Lube whatever - where they SUPPOSEDLY charge less for the oil change. But then first, they spill oil all over my engine so it burns off and stinks for days, and second, they always take you to your car and show you why you have to spend about $75 or $100 more for this that and the other. There's no sales pitch at McNair's when you get an oil change, and they are mechanics who change your oil, not dropouts who are trained to tell you that everything in your car needs to be flushed, changed, upgraded, replaced so that they get your dollar. When they tell me I need something, I know that it's true and not a sale's pitch. They'll even warn me too, like when I have another 10,000 miles or so and then I'm going to need brakes. I tell anyone in Riverside to go to McNair's. read more
