I came in here because I really needed to smog my car and I saw a sign after leaving DMV (Hell's Waiting Room!). They were so nice! They offered me a free bottle of water (all other smog places, I had to use a vending machine, if they had one, and it's almost always soda only - yea I need more sugar, NOT!) and it was quick and painless. Super polite and good service; I like how they laughed at my dumb jokes haha overall a good experience and no wait, which I'm sure everyone is sick of after being at a DMV! I'll be back next year! This place has gone to the dump. I believe they changed ownership. First time I came here 15 months ago to get a smog and everything was great. Free water, waited only 15 mins and was on my way. Fast forward to Sat 8/30/2014. I came at 10:30 was told to wait 45 mins since there were 2 cars ahead of me and only one tech , EMILIO a spanish/mexican guy. So I waited since it was close by to my house, they gave me a water bottle, and I had a great experience with the place before. My turn came at about 35 mins. They brought my car into the port and hooked up the connectors and started testing. I was not allow to stand nearby while they work. I was 5 feet to the side at the doorway. They made me wait in a waiting area at the side of the building 20 feet away where I was not going to be able to see what they were doing. Which was strange since I never asked at other places I had smog before, but if they want to be cautious for my safety then I am OK with that. So after their testing they handed me the result and told me that the car failed the MIL/Check Engine Light because it was not able to complete all OBD self tests and that his computer was not ready but I had to pay $40 for his labor. Apparently his test machine was not working properly and was using a handheld OBD as a backup which only gave a fail signal (No CODES). He told me to come back in 45 mins and his computer might be ready. So I ran my errands and came back 2hrs later at 2 PM. He was not there. The owner had t o contact him on his cell. I overheard that he was taking his girlfriend somewhere. I was told he would be back in 15 mins. After 30mins wait. He came back and again used the handheld OBD scanner and it still failed. So he told me to drive on the freeway at 65mph for 15mins and come back. So I came back in 30 mins (takes me 5-7 mins to get on the freeway). Again he was not there. Again the owner called him and he came back in 15 mins. This time he hopped out of a car with a coworker (an assistant). My guess is he went to a nearby coffee shop during that time. Furthermore another customer was also waiting on him. Once again he hooked up his scanner and yup it failed again. So he told me to come back on Tuesday. Furthermore, he says he does not want to hook up my car to the computer because if it should fail he would have to charge me another $40 for another test. (Even though his paper said I would get 1 free retest in 30 days) Apparently when the computer is working it would send the result to the state pass or fail. After I got home I looked at result again -- it passed all the other emission test except for the MIL test and I started to question. A) My check engine lights never came on at anytime. B) Why does his OBD not give out a code (Looks like a cheap tester). I then went to two different mechanics and have then use their better OBD scanner to test my car. Both came up with no codes -- good results. Today, Wednesday I went to another SMOG place and had them run the test. This time it passed and only cost $25 for the labor. This place is so shady. After looking at the paperwork, they have down as the technician Nguyen,HuyDuong E0636494 but some Mexican guy doing the work. Are they hiring some unlicensed tech or are they using each others credentials. The owner needs to hire more techs with a sense of work ethics. Never ever coming back here again. read more

The crew is super nice and professional, a small oasis outside with lots of seating makes the waiting okay, water and soda provided.. I would recommend M D Smog anytime. read more
