We all wanted to try every kind, so we split the sandwiches as they were pretty big and everyone got to taste them all. We wanted some leftovers for the next day and to see if they'll taste good reheated. Interestingly, the grilled chicken and grilled pork didn't taste too much different, both had the same sauce with the chicken's texture being more tender and the pork was a bit tougher, but they almost taste the same which was weird. They were both ok, but didn't have that Vietnamese sandwich taste that I was expecting. It turns out it's b/c there was no pate in them. Not sure if that's true for all these banh mi's, but the bread was kind of dry b/c of that, but the meats were flavorful from the sauce and the pickled veggies were ok. The next day, we had the extra sandwiches, and we reheated them in the toaster oven and they tasted way better. The bread was crunchier and not as tough, and it turns out these grilled meat sandwiches tasted better warm on the inside, the pickled veggies were still crisp. So what do you know, they tasted better as leftovers, but we added avocadoes into them to suup them up as they were dry. All in all, I still prefer Huong Lan for the more authentic taste of traditional Vietnamese banh mi, but Banh Mi House is ok and there was no line.
