A colleague suggested this spot for dinner and WOWZA am I glad she steered us towards Meade Street. I now have such a strong affinity for this Appleton gem. First off, the spot is unassuming from the outside as it's part of a small strip mall but step inside and you'll find a large open space, dimly lit, bustling with activity. We started dinner on the early side but after 30 minutes, the place was active. Service was so lovely, above and beyond - our server made sure to tell me several times throughout the meal that if I didn't like anything, she would send it back to the kitchen or have the bar remake any drink. Not every restaurant says this upfront and repeats it. The spotlight was our scallop and risotto dish - which I highly recommend. My Fiancé and I tried Meade Street Bistro this past Saturday night and overall left wishing for more. First, it's a cool spot. There's a large glass garage door that opens up to the front of the building where there's abundant outdoor seating that flows into the indoor dining room. We grabbed a spot at the huge bar. Serena, are bartender, was great. We ordered a couple of Wisconsin Old Fashions that were excellent. The menu is fairly diverse and if you are a vegetarian or vegan, you have close to dozen options to choose from. We started with the standard affair cheese curds which were lightly breaded and tasted well with the side of Ranch. This was the high point of our meal. I'm a sucker for Beef Stroganoff, so I ordered it. My Stroganoff wasn't bad but tasted way to much like the one I've had from Hamburger Helper box as a kid. The meat was chewy and tasted like cheap sirloin. I expected something a little better for $27. My Fiancé's veggie stir-fry was a similar story. She was served a large bowl of mostly teriyaki drenched rice and fewer than expected veggies. The drinks are my favorite...and I think the food is pretty good. I've been here a few times and have tried different things on each visit. I really enjoyed the different flavors of Mules, with grapefruit being my favorite. The cheese curds are pretty delicious and served with pesto ranch...yum! We got the cheese curds on every visit~ The Bacon Avocado Burger was yummy! But I think the Steak Sandwich was my absolute favorite. The fries are incredible...and dipping them in the pesto ranch is a yummy treat! I love a good margherita pizza - but this is not my favorite variation. The food was pretty good - we got the fish tacos and app sampler. Very flavorful and good portions. Nothing to complain about in terms of options or flavor. However, our overall experience wasn't great due to the service... we were greeted and seated promptly, but once our food was brought out, we didn't see our server for 20+ minutes. Might not have been a big deal but our order was messed up and we couldn't eat it... server never checked on us and immediately disappeared into a back room with the bartender and there wasn't one staff person accessible in the restaurant. When they finally came back out, 3 tables were flagging them down to pay their bill, and our food had been sitting/cold for 30min then by the time she got to us. They didn't offer to reheat or anything - just changed out the sides and sauces that were mixed up... we just got a box, paid, and left. Really disappointed. When I got my salad it was fine except there was a large chunk of bad wilted soggy lettuce. My wife and I had an outstanding experience during our visit to MSB last night. We were immediately welcomed as we walked into this trendy, spacious and inviting atmosphere. It was very busy, but with the layout--deep and roomy--with nice soft music in the background, it was a great place for couples, families and groups to carry on conversations while enjoying fantastic food. The stylish bar provides tasty beverages. The Bistro has a diverse menu with many healthy choices mixed in. The wild rice and mushroom soup was SO GOOD. I had the GF perch (batter was better than traditional Wisconsin fish fry's) and it was excellent with a nice portion. My wife had the salmon and she was happy with her delicious choice. Be sure to try their desserts, all homemade in-house, and they are delectable. The service was fantastic--energetic, friendly and attentive. Popped in on whim on a Tuesday evening just after 6 and was able to grab a table. Very personable and welcoming service. Think that it may have even been one of the owners. Had the wild rice soup. Excellent! Chose a honey blackened salmon with couscous. Just the right serving and well prepared. Delicious! I shouldn't have but went for the dessert (damn...can't remember the name) which was a banana bread with pineapple, pecans and cream cheese. No regrets! This is a welcoming spot. Talked to Chris who runs the truck to book the event, messaged back and forth with him on the details, confirmed a week in advance that all was good...he confirmed we would see us the following week. When the even rolled around, he didn't show up. Didn't answer his phone, didn't return my messages. The restaurant was no better when I called them. They said I needed to work with him directly, but they would check to be sure all was OK and call me back. No call back, no return of several messages, and no food truck. I would never recommend. Three days later and many more messages to both Chris and the restaurant to get an explanation, and being put on hold when I call the restaurant for them to never pick back up. Spread the word...do not rely on them! Mistakes happen, but own up to it and attempt to smooth things over, ignoring the problem only makes it bigger. read more

My wife and I ordered take-out with curb-side pick-up during the COVID-19 pandemic. Service was friendly and fast. Employees were wearing masks and gloves. We split the Meade Street Bistro Salad which had a nice mix of spicy greens and perfectly cooked beets. I like a lot of beets in a beet salad, so there can never be enough for me, but this was a healthy portion of beets for most people. We also split the Greek Lover's Pizza. This is an unique take on this style of pizza: garlic sauce with the typical artichokes, feta, and olives. Combined with a cracker crust, cut tavern-style, it was hard not to eat the whole pizza in one sitting. We dined in for dinner. The restaurant is bigger inside than it looks from the outside. Plenty of room for spread out tables and a large bar area. We were surprised how many people sat and had a drink while waiting for their to-go order. We had the the burger and perch dinner and both were delicious. There were 4 giant pieces of perch on the plate so you will not go hungry, plus all the sides that normally accompany your Friday fish fry. Ambiance is nice, like fresh, semi-upscale yet casual. Would be good for groups or a nice date. I'm looking forward to trying their pizza and tortellini in the future. My first experience with MSB was amazing! Their fries are some of my favorites around, and a solid steak to boot! Unfortunately, my next trip wasn't as successful. My wife and I went for our anniversary and I went with the trusty medium NY Strip. I was greeted with a thin, grey piece of meat instead. The second steak was a mild improvement. The owner was quick to take the plate and have it remade and replace the silverware, even stating she would comp my meal, apologizing for the issue. She checked back when the new meal was delivered, about 10 minutes later... Mom was done by then. Bill came. 15% off my plate less than $3. I told the waitress what the owner said. The waitress stood by the bill on the table.... They almost .... Almost recovered me. If they would have said 15% off to start with. I would have been ok. But over promising and under delivering?
