Unfortunately Meadow is on a downward slope. Nothing wrong with it but nothing great either. The sushi is OK but you won't be surprised by anything spectacular. Presentation is kind of plain, no art to it. The kitchen food is fine, better than store front takeout but still it is just OK. I have been living nearby for several years & I have never tried Meadow: despite one of my co-workers going there for lunch every day & telling me how good it was. Well, I finally made it there & he was right. We taste tested the Christmas Roll, the Lobster Maki, the Mango Tuna Maki & Spring Rolls. (Summer Rolls are not fried, made w/ rice paper & have meat. The Spring Rolls are eggroll wraps that are deep fried & filled with vegetables & mushrooms.) I did not try them, but I was told they were worth it, so maybe I will go back & taste test the two & give you more detail... and yes, I will be going back. All of the rolls were delicious, but my favorite was the Lobster Roll followed by the Christmas Roll. The Mango Roll was good, but I felt like it was missing something. The texture was good & it was sweet, but it wasn't until the last bite that I figured out what was off. The last piece had a larger piece of eel in it, where the rest was primarily Avocado which dulled it out. It was attractive, but the ingredients were not distributed evenly. If it had been, I bet it would have been much better. Who knew.. I'll give you all an update when I return, but in the meantime, give it a try. I don't think you will be disappointed. read more

Excellent Asian food. I typically have the Kung po chicken and a wonton soup. My wife gets the lunch special with broccoli and beef or broccoli and chicken. She also likes summer rolls and hot and sour soup. They serve a variety of sushi. We are not sushi fans. Excellent service and friendly atmosphere. Some outside tables when weather is appropriate. Was there for dinner last week and food was great as always. I appreciate their sushi staff who are def top tier and have been there forever. I've been there multiple times with my friends and I always love their Thai Mango Chk or their Pink Lady. (I know other places try to make the Pink Lady Roll but it's honestly not the same! Place was freezing today, and when the bill came, we were charged more than the prices in the menu! Lady said they could do that because on one page in the menu there was a disclaimer saying that prices were subject to change! Lol. Didn't even look on that page, we went straight to the entrees. With all respect to the other fine restaurants in the area Meadow is just the best Asian Food restaurant in the Farmington Valley. Both their sushi and Chinese style meals are great and just high quality. Every piece of sushi or sashimi has been above average even during their lunch specials. We often get their wonton soup, beef cilantro soup, gyoza, noodle dishes. Chicken in garlic sauce and our favorite is the beef with spicy chili over green beans ( Yuen Yang Spicy Beef ) but again everything is great. read more

Really WEIRD experience. Meadow has gone downhill since it's been one of my 5 star Simsbury favorites. From answering the phone to make a reservation to incredibly long waits between service, we had ordered multiple rounds of drinks sitting in the bar and many food orders but only a few came out. We ended up leaving and paying our check with still a 20% tip for courtesy but there was 0% communication between any staff, server, etc about our food, sushi, and entree orders and we had to ask to leave because we weren't being served for (at this point) over 30-45 minutes for 1 single sushi roll that was recommended to us. Sorry guys, I hate to do this but if I'm going to pay close to $80-100 for dinner with a reservation, I'd at least like to get my food at all!! read more

Let me start with the food was really good. This is not a negative review on the food. Sushi was fresh and nicely presented. This restaurant has obviously taken their focus off service and onto take out. Went for an early dinner with my family -dining room completely empty and the server sat us in a booth right next to the 'take out' area. We asked to move, which wasn't a problem, but definitely didn't feel we were a priority. Server wore gloves the entire time ... handling take out & then our food - never changing gloves (we'd rather no gloves and washed hands- so unsanitary). Had to flag server down to get check. Haven't been to Meadow in many years. The table by the open door/windows was very nice for the beautiful day. We started with a California roll and hot and sour soup. Both were very good, although the soup was different than any other I've had. My wife had soft shell crabs - and she's somewhat of an expert on seafood and said it was delicious. I had red curry beef lunch special, Which came with a spring roll. It was a generous portion, and very tasty with the right amount of spicy kick! The crab was pricey- but that's how it is everywhere, otherwise I'd say I'll be having many more lunches here. Service was very good though they didn't offer dessert. read more

One of my friends has long been talking about Meadow, and we finally had the opportunity for a lunch date and for me to try it out! If you're in the Simsbury CT area, this is the place for sushi. I couldn't believe their lunch special and the amount of (quality) food that was served for the very affordable price. Service was quick and we were instantly greeted at the door. I placed a take out order for 2 items; sesame calamari and seafood ceveche. The calamari was OK, nowhere as good as other local restaurants. The seafood ceveche should have included shrimp, scallop and snow crab. I got copy crab substituted for the snow crab and that was it; no shrimp or scallops. This was supposed to be a sushi dish and it wasn't. Called the restuarant to complain and they were totally unconcerned and offerred no refund. Maybe the highest end Chinese choice in the Farmington Valley? Arrived around 6:00 PM on a Tuesday dinner take-home mission. I hadn't called in my order, so I relaxed in the bar with a $4.50 Tsing Tao and eventually settled on a $10 Sesame Calimari and a $4 Tom Yum Soup with Chicken. I'm a big calimari fan and tonight's version was among the best I ever had. Lightly seasoned and fried to a non greasy state of pefection served over sliced lettuce and razor thin jalapeno pepper rings. Divine!! The Tom Yum Soup was delicious- wonderful spicy broth with cilantro, pea pods, halved cherry tomatoes, whole straw mushrooms, and a nice helping of tender melt-in-your-mouth chicken strips. The restaurant is very classy, with a dressy waitstaff and white linens. Quite a nice niche they have carved out for themselves. read more

I really like this place; the food is really stellar and hey dig those mango martinis with the mango puree, mmmmm! We love sitting on the patio on a summer evening. On our most recent visit we drove way out of our way to get to this place after a hot day of bicycling along the Farmington River, and arrived, exhausted and hungry, in the dreaded final hour of the restaurant being open, which at many restaurants involves The Look and "oh, for dining in?" because they really don't want to serve you that late. There was not a whiff of that here; they seemed genuinely glad to serve us. We had the gyoza dumplings, light and sublime, and I had the "sizzling" rice soup, redolent with sesame oil, chicken broth, and tender "velveted" slices of chicken with sweet pea pods. Although they have never been able to get the sizzling part down, which involves putting the freshly fried rice cake into the soup at tableside, it's so delectable that all is forgiven. Hubby had the Imperial Couple--shrimp and scallops in a lovely sauce on a huge bed of broccoli, and I had the Hunan Chicken. I asked them if that meant black bean chicken and I don't think it normally does here, but they put some black bean sauce in it for me and it was out of this world, the chicken so tender and succulent. We split a House Fried Rice, very well done with tender pieces of that velveted chicken, beef, shrimp, and pork. Eating my leftovers the next day, I was struck again with just how good the sauces are. Cooking for myself during the pandemic has ruined a lot of restaurants for me but not this one. Went for lunch today was very disappointed in the quality and taste of-the food. Spent $150 for 4 people the general gau,s chicken was very fatty. We were unable to eat the orders. The PadThai we ordered for take out wasn't cook and the noodles were hard. The waitress wrapped our food up seeing we didn't eat it. When we got home we ended up throwing everything away. So, maybe I was a little loose with the 5 stars a few years ago. Don't get me wrong. Still one of our go-to Asian restaurants in the Valley. But the competition has heated up. Still outrageously good dumplings. Probably my favorite in the area. The spring rolls were just ok. As for the other food, the sushi remains a strength -- though I think Yume can compete with them. The food out of the kitchen was good though the Pad Thai was a little too simple. And big chunks of chicken are fine but don't skimp on the noodles too. One of the big positives is a very accomplished bar with creative drinks. The martinis are particularly potent (and go down smooth). Service is fine. Is this still a place we seek out? Absolutely. Best sushi in the area! Went here last night and tried an assortment of sushi. We got two basic salmon and tuna rolls as well as the Red Lion and Dynamite specialty rolls. I would recommend them to anyone. I have been here a few times with my family before, but this is only the second time I've had their sushi. Popped in last Saturday late afternoon for some appetizers and drinks with our favorite neighbors. Greeted always with smile and welcome, we were seated indoors at a window seat and our waitress greeted us right away with waters. She proved stellar the entire time. I had the Wonton soup ($3.75) and it was hot, delicious and generous. Tim had the Tom Yum Soup Chicken in my honor he said ($6.50) shrimp straw mushrooms, tomatoes, & cilantro in a spicy broth which was, indeed, spicy and to his liking. The four of us split Sesame Calamari ($12) which was excellent. I went with the Shrimp Tempura ($18), entree size (because of the inevitable "can I try one") and it was fantastic. The rest had Pink Lady Rolls (18.95) which were so good that they thought about ordering a second round. Bud Lights for me ($4), some sauvignon blancs for the ladies ($8.50) and red for Tim ($9) and we were very happy. Spent a few dollars for "appetizers and drinks" but it was great to be sitting in a restaurant enjoying excellent food with great company. This place is a gem. read more

Although they seem to be a Chinese/Japanese fusion restaurant, they also have some Thai options that are really good; so everyone is bound to find something they'll like!
