Food came out hot and delicious. And the staff took the time to go over any questions we had about the menu. Place is clean and comfortable. A bit chilly but it's better than it being stuffy and hot. This is my second time coming here and like the first time it was a great experience.

I ordered a small party tray of Soy Sauce Chow Mein and WOW--it was perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and not greasy at all. I also tried the Roasted Duck and it was AMAZING--super juicy, tender, and full of flavor with crispy skin. The portions are generous, the ingredients taste fresh, and everything comes out hot and fast. Definitely my new go-to spot whenever I'm craving authentic Chinese food. Highly recommend!

So there are a few Ho Kee Cafes in the area so this review is specifically for the Arcadia one. This is near Baldwin Ave and Las Tunas/Live Oak. The interior of this place is pretty nice. It's on the more upscale side compared to the Del Mar one. Both of them have the interesting open kitchen design with a glass window and it looks like the side of a building with the roof in the inside. This one is bigger than the Del Mar one. So how does the food compare? So I ordered a half roast duck and BBQ pork rice and extra veggies. I'm glad they use Choy sum instead of other places that use broccoli, bok choy, or cabbage. This is a more expensive veggie. The BBQ Pork is decent. It's very lean and thinly sliced. However the flavoring is a bit off, it's a bit on the saltier side. I asked for the sauce on the side and the BBQ pork sauce is really salty and doesn't have much of a sweet taste. The roast duck is a bit on the meatier side, meaning that there is noticeable amount of meat on the duck compared to other places however compared to the Del Mar one, it's really really salty. The Del Mar one is on the opposite spectrum and is bland. There was also a lot of oil in the container. The duck/plum sauce was good but I would ask for 2. It's a really small container. Parking for this place isn't too challenging but it can be. There's not a lot of spots but it's shared with a plaza on the east side. So compared to the Del Mar one or this one, I would prefer the Del mar one because of how salty the duck is. Pricing for this place is a bit on a higher side compared to other Chinese BBQ places but they are more of a sit down restaurant and not like a To-Go only place. One thing I don't like is the credit card minimum, it's 25 dollars. So if you just order like one item, you're not going to hit the 25 minimum to use a CC. That's a pretty high minimum. Overall, decent food, really high credit card minimum of 25 dollars.

Came in on a Tuesday for dinner and the place was empty. Having been to Ho Kee in San Gabriel, we knew what to expect at this Arcadia location. Here's what we ordered: Chicken Wings with Salt & Pepper - SO crispy with delicious fried seasoning. Perfectly cooked, super juicy, and packed with flavor. Totally worth it. (5/5) Shrimp Chow Fun with Egg - A classic done right. Loved the gravy, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Solid dish. (4.5/5) Tomato Beef over Rice - Simple but tasty. Note that this was $2 more than advertised on the menu, so be aware. (4/5) Overall, the portions were generous and prices reasonable. A few items weren't exactly the menu price, which was a bit annoying, but the food was tasty and hit our cravings perfectly. The restaurant itself looks great, and I'd definitely come back.

Delicious Hong Kong food at reasonable prices. The family style tofu is a standout as well as the milk tea. I'd recommend coming here for a dinner or late brunch on the weekend. Comfortable eating area to enjoy your meal, with solid service.

We came here late at night after a workout 8:30 but we were worried since they close at 9. The employees did not mind at all and were very welcoming. No need to worry about coming near closing. We ordered the classic dishes and each were pretty good. I liked the crispy tofu the most. The ambiance makes you feel like you're in an authentic chinese restaurant with cool Oriental roofs protruding out the walls. For the drinkers, they serve alcohol. For the soft drinkers, they have iced lemon black tea with reduced sugar option. Pretty cool for the calorie conscious.

Great food and wonderful service! I would like to take my family here for weekend. I also love ducks, house special soup and the dishes we ordered.

This is your typical Hong Kong cafe styled food. We came during lunch time for their lunch special between 11am and 3:30pm, which comes with steamed white rice and the daily special soup for $12.99. We were seated right away and the servers there were nice and courteous. My wife ordered the roasted duck over rice and I ordered the sole fish filet with soy bean and pepper. The roasted duck seemed to be the go to dish as people around us ordered it. My wife thought this dish was just OK. It also came with vegetables, so that was nice. The fish filet was flavorful and I enjoyed it. The sauce went well with rice and the fish filet was tasty. We would return to try the other items on their lunch special. It seems pretty standard with other Hong Kong style cuisines. If you're looking for something quick and easy, stop by and try this place out!

My sister and went to Ho Kee Arcadia to try $12.99 lunch specials on a Saturday afternoon in late November. By 11:24am, most of the tables were filled of people eating. The staff are nice in canto, mando, and some English. We ordered beef chow fun, 1/2 order of bbq pork, 1/2 order of roast duck, black beans fish, sweet and sour pork, and French style beef. The server gave us free soup to drink. One dish came one at a time. My favorite was French style beef which was tender, roast duck has meaty pieces, bbq pork was lean not fatty, I wished sweet and sour pork was more fried and crispy. The ambiance was nice with tv in the background. Service was good on refill water and container for leftover food. Plenty of parking in the back.

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my food from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is small. They share the lot with several other establishments in this plaza. Parking spots sizes are decent. Food: I ordered from the lunch special menu, which came with a complimentary ginger daikon soup. The soup was pretty palatable, but nothing to rave about. Sometimes, simplicity is the best. The daikon was cooked till it was nice and soft. Anyways, I ordered the string beans with minced pork meat. The string beans needed to be cooked a minute or two longer. They were a bit tough to bite on. The minced pork meat with the dish made this dish more flavorful and tasty. Next, I ordered the braised beef stew with daikon. Omg. The braised beef stew with daikon was so fricken delicious and mouthwatering. I would highly recommend ordering this folks. The beef stew was so incredibly rich, tender, and juicy. The daikon was soft and flavorful thanks to being cooked with the beef stew. They charge $2 extra per bowl of rice if you order off the lunch special menu. I was not aware that they charged for bowls of rice, so I was surprised. That needs to be disclosed somewhere. For the undisclosed charge of the bowl of rice and kinda tough string beans, I decided to remove one star. Staff: The staff here are very fast, attentive, and friendly. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

Lunch special for 12.99 7 days a week is something you should not miss. Large portions, tasty, and plenty of seating makes this a sleeper deal for decent Cantonese style food. Today we enjoyed beef upon and Peking pork chops. I was pleasantly surprised that the pork chop wasn't full of fat and also was tender.

Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 This is one of my favorite spots for roasted duck. Their duck has noticeably less fat between the skin and meat compared to other well-known chain restaurants, which makes it a standout. This time, I decided to dine in for lunch for the first time. I arrived on a Saturday afternoon and was seated quickly, surprisingly, it wasn't too busy. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer a lunch menu on weekends, which is rare compared to the places near my house. Initially, I considered ordering from the regular menu for larger portions, but the server let me know that the lunch portions are the same, so I went with the lunch menu. I ordered the half roasted duck, sweet and sour pork ribs, stir-fried string beans, and salty fish fried rice. Everything was on point, though the sweet and sour pork ribs didn't quite meet my expectations, I was hoping for more vegetables, as I've had in similar dishes elsewhere. Maybe it goes by a different name here. Overall, it was a great experience with solid food at a good price. I'll definitely be back again for lunch.

The beef, pork, and vege they used in the soup were old, they weren't freshly made, especially the beef and the pork, they been marinated for a long time and tasted bad! The rice wasn't fully cooked, they were very hard. The staffs were very slow, we asked for check multi times but nobody came, yet the restaurant wasn't busy, only half full. We won't go back again.

We just got jipped or "tricked" by ordering this $120 usd fish? I cannot believe our bill was $120 usd for this kind of fish.

The food is consistently good, honestly better than a lot of nearby places that charge quite a bit more. What won me over right away, though, was the breakfast combo. Two dim sum items and a hot drink for just $14 is a genuinely good deal. A cold drink is only $1 more (typical HK practice), and you can also take your drink to go for another $1, which is a nice little convenience. I'm pretty particular about milk tea, so I don't say this lightly: their half coffee, half milk tea really hits the spot every time. It's balanced, and satisfying. Beyond the combo, they also serve all the comfort staples, porridge, fried chow mein, Chinese donuts, and my personal favorite, rice noodles with a variety of fillings. It delivers the same comforting flavors you want from a casual dim sum-style breakfast, but without the inflated prices, long waits, and hectic atmosphere that have become so common at more traditional dim sum spots. This place is a solid, dependable replacement for the usual dim sum experience. The restaurant is spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the service is consistently warm and welcoming. The driveway can be a little tricky. It sits right next to the Taco Bell drive-through exit, separated only by a fire hydrant, so it's easy to miss or get confused when pulling in. But it's a small tradeoff for a spot that delivers this much value and consistency.

The first few dishes arrived quickly, and every dish was flavorful and delicious. We especially liked the string beans and the water spinach. The French-style deep-fried fish with basil and black pepper was addictive, and surprisingly it wasn't spicy at all. The shredded free-range chicken tasted fresh, while the eggplant with minced pork clay pot was just okay. Dined in for dinner around 9:30 PM. We had a group of 5. We were seated right away. The restaurant…read morewas 3/4 full. Atmosphere: It has a lot of old school items and it felt like we were in Hong Kong. Parking: Plenty in the back at this time. The front has parking as well. When we were there, a blackout occurred, but the staff reassured us we were okay. They provided lights and kept on checking up on us. I loved their enthusiasm throughout the night. I ordered the chicken steak with spaghetti and the lemon ice tea. It was huge and tasty. No complaints here. I would rate it 4.5/5! The lemon ice tea came with unlimited refills. The waitress was so nice to give us a drink to go without charging us.

I need to confess something to you: I love Chinese food. However, it wasn't until the last few…read moreyears where I've come to realize the distinctions between Hong Kong cuisine and mainland Chinese cuisine. It's been an exploration. But with each new Hong Kong style restaurant I try, the more expansive my view, and belly, get. Alice's Kitchen, specifically this one in Temple City, was a refreshing look at not just the food but the vibe as well. Design - Falling into a different world Walking into Alice's Kitchen from the back parking lot is like walking into a vibrant food court back in the 1980s. Bright neon signs are placed throughout the dining room floor, faux food stalls can be seen to give more of a community feel to the inside, and I love the sprawl of different props of newspapers, t-shirts hung on clotheslines, and big advertisements on the walls like you might see in a food court. It really elevated the atmosphere of the space and I loved their branded orange plates, bowls, spoons, and chopsticks. It gave whimsy to this place. Staff - Cool The staff here are like what you expect from any Chinese restaurant. You try to flag one down or grab their attention with your wandering eyes and when they come over you can tell them what you want. They take your order and usually within 5-7 minutes you'll start to see your food heading your way. Perfect for anyone hungry and dying to eat right away. When you ask for to-go boxes at the end of the meal (you definitely will) moments after you get your food packed someone will appear with a tablet ready for you to pay right there at the table. Talk about speed. Food - Onions galore I see that in Hong Kong cuisine there is this mix match of Western and Chinese tastes put together. This fusion of ideas is what brings something like their large pineapple bun sandwiches to existence. We got the BBQ pork (char siu) pineapple bun sandwich and this came warm with a fried egg, slab of butter, generous slices of BBQ pork, and a savory sauce. For one person, this could be a good main dish to be accompanied by a side. For this split between two people, this is a savory sweet dish perfect to wet the appetite. Highly recommend getting one of these. The sweet & sour pork was nostalgic to me. Served with chunks of white onion, green peppers, and pineapple the flavor of this reminded me very much of the sweet & sour pork Chinese-Korean restaurants serve, except for the color being different and no cabbage in the sauce. It has the sweetness brought out by the pineapple but still a bit of tang and deep savoriness of the pork with each bite. The onions were undercooked and you'll see this as a pattern for all their dishes containing onions. The French style filet mignon chunks were fantastic. Juicy and flavorful, each bite makes the mouth water more and more and the texture gave such pleasant mouth feels. The fried basil accompanying it also gave a burst of freshness and herbacious flavors. Just be careful not to accidentally bite into a chunk of ginger. Unless you love ginger. Then go right ahead. The beef chow fun with black bean sauce was great. Nice balance of their black bean sauce with the textures of the chunks of beef, the onions and peppers in this add a nice crunch and difference in flavor that balances all the savoriness. The tofu with spiced salt was also incredible. When I ate this still piping hot the crisp exterior with the hot soft interior made me smile. The spiced coating was flavorful and with some rice it gives a nice balance with each bite. Final Thoughts With all the food we got for dinner, I'm sure I leaned more into the Chinese cuisine side than the Hong Kong side. However, I was happy with the quality and depth of flavors in everything I had. Alice's Kitchen has definitely been one of the better Hong Kong restaurants I've had and I'm excited to explore more of this cuisine in the future. Can't wait to come back!

I wasn't a huge fan of the beef chow fun because I found it a little bland for my taste. The service is efficient, and while the interior is a little dated (peep the advertising placemats), it was very clean and comfortable. Plenty of parking available in the lot. I also enjoy their Hainan chicken which was tender enough - which I was delighted to find comes with a salted egg and some lightly pickled vegetables. Their beef cube dish is also good - the beef was tender, and the accompanying mix of onions, mushrooms, basil, and few jalapenos tastes great over rice. Their menu is huge and I definitely want to try more items next time!
