Great food with unique atmosphere. We had quite a few of the dishes, but only a small percent of their total offerings. The steak sticks were delicious along with the Cobb salad and beef carpaccio. The bone marrow was a little inconsistent with the flavor and fat content between pieces. The rabbit pot pie was delicious. We would try the cheese plate and the guacamole next time. First of all, they have a huge and fantastic beer selection. The first thing I noticed was the extra long wall of draft handles. The price for the beer flight was outrageous, you are better off getting three full sized beers instead of the flight. I know that now for next time. The reason I am giving only 3 stars (and that may be too many, I wish 2.5 was an option) is because of the substandard food. The menu looks great on paper, but the actual food was disappointing. The herders pie was unnecessarily sweet to the point I did not want to finish it. The mu ping was just teriyaki flavored fat, and the duck wings did not balance the spice with the sweet correctly (it needed to tone down the chili about 15%). read more

My wife and I came here for a date night and we were surprised - this is a much nicer restaurant than we expected! The two things I had heard about it was that they had a huge beer menu and good Happy Hour prices, and that their hamburger was excellent. Thus, I pictured a bar, but this is a nice table service restaurant, with food prices to match. Both of the things I had heard were true. The beer menu is extensive, especially if you include bottles. However, while the Happy Hour prices are nice, they only apply to a half dozen of the beers on the list. I ordered the burger, which was indeed extremely good. Thousand Island dressing was a unique touch, and flavors throughout were perfect. It's topped by a couple in-house-made bread and butter pickles, which weren't my favorite but my wife raved over. My wife ordered the Shepherd's Pie (Sheep Herders Special). The beef short rib is as good as you hope it will be, the pearl onions are creative and provide great texture contrast, and the mashed potatoes are creamy and perfectly cooked to a crust on top. Both entrees were well-sized, especially with the burger's side fries. We didn't leave hungry but we did leave having paid $55 after tax and tip for 3 happy hour beers and 2 entrees. Add $5 more for the valet and it's definitely not my average date night dinner! It was very good but I doubt that I'd come back just on the price alone. read more

We stayed in the area for a weekend getaway and had Saturday brunch here. Very neat atmosphere. Parking can get a little tight but they do have valet parking available. The service is top notch, and since it was our first time at the restaurant and they gave really good recommendations. The Sticky buns were fantastic. I've eaten at Meddlesome Moth many times but my last visit was my last ever. The mussels were delicious but the other small plates not so good. The worst was the "Burnt Ends" dish made from pork belly, which sounded like it would be delicious. But instead of burnt ends as commonly prepared, it was lightly cooked and as a result, almost all fat. The waitress took it off the bill, but this was highly misrepresented. Had the Baked Feta, I wouldn't recommend since it's too salty and there's not even pita pieces to go with it. However, it's not bad if you perhaps chug beer with it and down to order more pita. Next was the fish and chips, I believe it was sea bass? My thoughts are...it's really good. Outer layer is a nice golden fry and inside is flaky fish that's not too dry. I want more just thinking about it! For dessert was an olive cake. The cake itself was a cold cake, too dry by itself but that's why there's a cream to go with it on top. Had the lamb skewers which I thought were under seasoned, the New Orleans bbq shrimp which I wish were cleaned, the duck ham deviled eggs and confit duck wings which were both good. The Baby Back Ribs served a perfect setting as the casualties of ego and persona fell to the floor. Then, as the truce started to commence, Nueske's Bacon calmed the nerves across the treaties table. Not sure of the communication issues today between host and staff but sat for 10 minutes before acknowledged by a server who took drink order but said brunch was over, which were only menus we were given. We put in drink order while 5 minutes later another server came to table to take drink order. He confirmed brunch was over only when asked and then we had to ask for a lunch menu. He dropped off a 10 item menu a little bigger than a 3" x 5" with no explanation. A 3rd server came over and we had to ask about the 10 Item transition menu vs lunch menu which we asked for since it was past the brunch time. There explanation was a limited menu between brunch and dinner and no lunch on Saturday. I explained the lack of staff attention put us past the brunch time and if they could get us those menus and we would order from that vs a burger and salad option on the transition menu. They said it was past 3 and would not do so. To add insult with their attitude they charged $14 for their margarita when the menu lists it for $12. Maybe it was just an off day or the we were supposed to know about their weekend menu Schedule but it was not communicated by anyone in the staff until asked nor on website which seems pretty easy. read more

I loved the intimate feel of the restaurant. The wait staff was very attentive and it was a great experience. The food was amazing! I still think about how yummy it was and it's been months. I was in Dallas for the state fair and if I'm ever back in town, this place is a must! I had the shrimp & grits with a side of broccolini. I wish I could give Meddlesome Moth five stars. Their brunch offerings are as delicious as they are beautiful on the plate. I've been here repeatedly to indulge in the Mother & Child fried chicken and eggs dish, and it's something to be craved. What irks me is their outrageous pricing for coffee. When you order coffee, they bring you a small french press that holds two modest cups. They say they get their coffee from Ascension (next door), which explains why it's so tasty. However, these small french presses cost $5 **EACH**. I appreciate that the coffee is far better than the swill you'd get at someplace like Denny's, but that's an insane price. What's worse is that they don't mention that they're charging per press. Getting the final tab and seeing that I spent $15 on black coffee gave me serious sticker shock. Definite 5-star restaurant otherwise. If you're going for brunch, I recommend skipping the coffee and having mimosas instead. read more

We dined in on a Sunday at 3 which was actually still in time for brunch. The restaurant is so much more expansive than it looks from outside. I love the stained glass windows from the old Hard Rock Cafe. The patio space has inclosed and regular seating. I loved the variations of mimosa mixers--we had the black currant which was crisp and refreshing. I also loved my fried chicken and grits with a verde sauce. It was absolutely amazing. Great laid back, industrial atmosphere inside with a nicely shaded patio with greenery. Chill staff, good vibes and music. Service was excellent, all of the servers were friendly, attentive and made menu recommendations. I tried the smoked chicken salad sandwich and it was awesome! The house salad it comes with may have stolen the show-- creamy dressing, shaved Parmesan, pomegranate, spiced macadamia nuts, jalapeño and pickles. We had the Pimento Burger - Yum Yum, and the Pork Hash, tasty but the pork wasn't even the equivalent of a strip of bacon. The eggs and Poblano was a delicious accompaniment. The best part was the Morning Buns - flaky, perfect balance of sweetness and fresh fruit. The server should also remember to ask guests if they have dined at the Meddlesome Moth before. Sorry MM you are going to have to earn your 4 stars. While overall the experience was pleasant, I expect superb from these guys given the price point and the reviews I've seen. While very eclectic and interesting the small plate selection never seems to come together to give a hint of pairing and consistency that would complement each other. So felt disjointed. We came here Christmas evening for a late dinner. The surroundings are pleasant but, again not one of the more comfortable spaces for a late nite dinner. I had the Christmas special which was prime rib. It was delicious but for the price was a very small thin piece. I ordered the truffle french fries to go along and they were superb. My companion ordered the New Orleans Bar B Que shrimp. About the time we expected our dinner to come out the waitress returned and stated that they are out of BBQ shrimp and if we would make another selection it would be compted. So we did and selected the Halibut. It was a superb dish served on what appeared to be braised Kale. Very nice. The desert offered was an apple and rhubarb pie which was below average and had no redeeming value. The scoop of ice cream on top was like an inferior store brand! Our service was ok but seemed like she didnt want to work on Christmas and who could blame here. I gave the customary tip but would have been justified cutting it down somewhat. Overall if you like beer and small plates go. If you are looking for a more traditional American broad menu selection, not sure if this is your place. Went here because it got great recommendations from Yelp reviewers. Well, we were seated quickly, had GREAT staff serving us (they had a shift change during the course of the evening) and the food looked great. Beers were good - no doubt and the flight offerings were awesome. We decided to do a shared table option from dinner and chose the Belgian-style mussels, Confit duck wings, and the tuna - we also tried the sweet pea guacamole, which was pretty bland (but it looked good).. The duck tasted devine - was cooked perfectly, the mussels were tiny (the sauce was fantastic) but the tuna was terrible and looked like it hadn't been seared properly.. it was also really tough and we didnt finish the plate. All 3 of us were sick overnight or the next day.. With a few days in Dallas, we had disappointing food for such a foodie town. read more
