Came here during the weekday and love that they serve brunch items everyday! The shop has a nice setup with a variety of baked goods, fresh cheeses, and specialty items. They also have a nice outdoor seating section that is covered, which was perfect on a nice day. I had the deconstructed lavender latte and the shakshuka. My friend had the caramel latte and french toast. The deconstructed lavender latte was so fun to make with the coffee ice cubes, espresso, cream, and lavender in a syringe. More importantly, it tasted phenomenal. The lavender was not too overpowering and was the perfect amount to add a subtle flavor! The shakshuka was also excellent. It was spiced well and was great dipped in the bread. Overall, enjoyed my brunch experience here and 100% would come back! A nice addition to the Mt. Lebanon area. read more

I love the pimento cheese spread and sandwich! That's a specialty I'm not used to seeing in the burgh, but I miss it from my travel days in the south! The salads are beautiful. Consistently good food and mediocre drink but the Saturday before Christmas the place was a mess. I asked one of the people working for a napkin so I could wipe my table down, and I was shocked that didn't prompt them to do it for me. Yes! I am so happy Mediterra has opened a restaurant in Mt. Lebo so close to my house! Had a wonderful experience at this location on a beautiful sunny Sunday! My girlfriend and I got breakfast here and it lives up to the hype!! The restaurant is beautiful inside with a small grocery area and bakery with some amazing looking baked goods!! I ordered the breakfast sammie and added bacon and a vanilla latte. It was about $20 so a little pricy but the sandwich was huge and delicious!! We sat outside on their patio area and it was perfect! The service was quick and we really enjoyed the whole experience! We got there at 9 am which was a great time, it started getting busier by 10 am! Definitely will be going back soon!!! read more

Very happy after my visit to Mediterra. First, in terms of feeling comfortable during Covid, the staff and patrons were all masked (except seated patrons). The deli section was a gastronomical wonderland - I grabbed fig salami, a big, soft pretzel, pimento cheese spread, biscotti and an iced sugar cookie. I added a rosemary latte, which was highly satisfying (delicious!). It was a really well-curated selection of items, and I could have picked up a lot more. We have done takeout sandwiches before - parma cotta for me and tuna melt for my husband, both excellent - and have also had their large pretzels a few times. I'm waiting for a little warmer weather so that I can sit outside and have a drink and a meal. Fingers crossed that this newish addition to Mt. Lebanon can weather the rest of Covid, because I can't wait to spend some time there and try more from their menu. read more

Mediterra Cafe has always been one of my favorite restaurants. My daughter and I usually eat breakfast or lunch there at least once a week. I also stop a couple times a week for fresh bread. I have to go to dialysis three times a week, so my daughter takes me to Mediterra on one of my non-dialysis days to help me forget my medical problems and how badly I usually feel. On Wednesday, August 16th, though, our lunch at Mediterra Cafe was a total disaster! We ordered 2 mango Matcha teas, 2 cups of minestrone soups, and 2 vegetable quiches. We had planned on getting a box of pastries and a few loaves of bread following the meal. The girl who took our order said that Mediterra doesn't have cups of soup, only bowls, even though we have ordered several cups of soup there in the past. I thought maybe this was something new. When I got to my table, I checked my receipt only to find out that the girl who rang me up charged me for 2 cups of soup, which she said that they didn't have, and one bowl of soup. I went inside to sort this out, which took about 15 minutes. In the meantime, they brought all of our food out. It turns out that they do have cups of soup. The girl taking my order was just not aware of that. By the time I got outside, all of my food was cold, and my daughter had eaten half of her meal without me. I asked to speak with one of the owners, but they were not there at the time. They offered to reheat my quiche and give me a new soup, but they were not overly nice about doing it. My original bowl of soup was loaded with noodles, beans, and vegetables, and was filled to the top of the bowl. When they brought the new bowl of soup out, it was a third filled and it was all broth with 5 vegetables floating in it. I felt like they were trying to punish me for asking to have my food reheated. The Mango Matcha tea was terrible!!! It was warm, because there was only a few pieces of ice in it, and not even a vague hint of mango. I actually think they forgot to put the mango in it. I would never order that again!!! I ate my entire meal alone, because after sorting out my bill and waiting to have my food re-heated, my daughter had already eaten her meal. I got teary eyed, because I already was having a rough day following my dialysis treatment the day before, so my daughter said, "Mom, lets just go." So, we just left without buying our box of pastries and a couple loaves of bread. I have tried to call several times, but the owner was never in. I just felt like Mediterra Cafe could have done so much better for loyal customers like us. read more

Bought a loaf of the jalapeño cheddar, easily some of the best bread I've eaten. Toasted it for a tuna fish sandwich. Bread was filled with spicy jalapeños and creamy cheddar. Delicious! This amazing place has become a frequent afternoon date spot for my boyfriend and I, and has given us a great place to sit, talk, and enjoy a leisurely lunch. The food has always been wonderful. We try a different dish every time, and have yet to find one that we don't love. While shopping and browsing the great selection of foods and kitchen items, the staff has always been friends and helpful. Every time we have been there since opening week, we have seen the staff wearing a mask at all times. They go above and beyond for their customers to make sure you have a great experience during these difficult times. It has been wonderful have a place like this that allows us to have a moment to forget all the craziness going on and to feel like life is back to normal again. read more

Not safe for gluten allergies or celiacs. It is a shame because I was excited to try this place out as they market themselves with vegan and gluten free options. Before ordering, I explained to the woman at the counter that I am very sensitive to gluten and have celiac disease. I asked if I would be safe eating here and I was reassured that I would be and left a note on my order. I have gotten gluten sick at restaurants before, but this has been the worst by far! Typically, there's always a risk with those with celiac disease when eating out, and we are aware that cross contamination is difficult to control, but we expect a certain level of caution if we are reassured we are safe to eat at your restaurant. However, based on the severity of my sickness afterward, it is apparent that my celiac was not accommodated by the slightest. Please do not tell your customers they are safe to eat at your establishment and not try to accommodate their allergens. Allergens need to be taken VERY seriously at restaurants. read more

Want to first state Mediterra makes the best bread in Pittsburgh. I went to their cafe in Mt Lebanon and ordered the Pastrami sandwich. It wasn't good....very little pastrami and not great taste. Would have preferred any La Gourmadine sandwich or a Primanti's Pastrami. The sandwich is $12 sandwich which is fine for house made Pastrami, I would rather be charged more and get more Pastrami (see pics). Another issue, i wanted to get another beverage after my initial order. The waitress said i had to get back in line to order...i waited 5 minutes and gave up. I will always opt for their bread, but not sure i will return to the cafe. read more

My favorite weekly spot for matcha latte and avocado toast they're delicious! I also love the roast beef sandwich is the best I get at least one a week. If you like bake goods the pumpkin cookies are outstanding and so are the cupcakes. Be prepared to become a regular because everything is so good. read more

A gourmet paradise consisting of a cafe with a barista, market and bakery. I've had their breakfast sammie, beet salad and grilled eggplant sandwich on different occasions. I have also enjoyed a cappuccino and some delectable goodies from their bakery. The hazelnut chocolate biscotti was a perfect accompaniment to my cappuccino. Great service with friendly staff. Stopped by this Saturday. The dining room was PACKED. Tables were not spaced 6 feet apart and multiple parties were seated right next to each other. Employees were not properly masked and had their masks below their noses. Even other patrons commented how uncomfortable it made them. We love the food and location. However, a few weeks ago I watched 3 employees pull their masks down and have a whole chat directly over the latte one was making for me. I had to ask for a different latte. She apologized and seemed genuinely concerned that had happened. Today, we were ordering from the pastry case and an entirely family clearly affiliated with the cafe, as evidenced by one of their t-shirts, came directly behind us, despite the fact that the rest of the store was empty. Even under normal times, it would have felt crowded. We kept moving away but eventually ran out of space. They proceeded to pull their "mask" (flimsy bandana) down to smell a candle and then cough, and didn't pull their mask up. Then, another family full of children that are clearly over 2, but without masks, joined them. In addition, they keep the music so loud that they can't hear you over your masks, and people won't even hear you if you do ask them for space. I'm really sad that we can only do call ahead from now on, as we really love the food, but if the employees can't take this pandemic seriously or even give space to those who do take it seriously, it's not worth it. read more

Looking for a breakfast spot on Sunday morning while visiting Pittsburgh and Mediterra popped up in my search. I grew up in Mt. Lebanon and was curious to try one of the new (new to me anyway) places. When we arrived, we figured out to get in line and place our orders. The line was pretty long at this time and seemed like it may take too long...Almost bailed - but glad we did not. The cafe is pretty sizeable and has a cool, industrial feel with a touch of country store/French bakery...odd mix but it definitely works. The line moved relatively quick and we placed our orders before finding a table. We ordered two Shashukas, a couple scones, iced coffee and a chai latte. Food and drink were delivered to,our table within about 10 minutes. The Shashukas were very tasty. Could have used a little more egg and a little less tomato but it was satisfying none the less. Iced coffee was served in a rocks glass which was a first for me...good flavor but disappointed they did not have oat or almond milk. Took the scones home for later...they were ok - maybe better when fresh. Overall, had a nice experience. Very friendly staff, good food and a vibrant atmosphere. read more

I waited for a second try before reviewing. What's good: great bread, lovely outdoor space, the menu looks great. What I don't like: our takeout order was missing an item and when we called they refused to refund it. I have not gotten one cooked menu item that wasn't positively hammered. The eggs in the shakshuka (not takeout) might as well have been hard boiled. I also think the food is overpriced for the value, and every pastry we have tried has been fair but nothing to the level of La Gourmandine. I want to love this place so much but for me it is just ok. But no worries because they are so very busy and will surely succeed in this space where so many others have failed. read more

This has become my go-to breakfast place when I'm in Pittsburgh. The Breakfast Sammie is an absolute work of art. Housemade English Muffin and the Zhoug are what makes this dish stand out above the others. They also have fantastic customer service. On my last day in Pittsburgh, I called in a to-go order of 2 breakfast Sammies and a coffee. When I picked up, the price was way too low....discovered they only made one sandwich. We were in a rush to get back to NC, so I didn't want to wait for them to fix another. They apologized profusely and gave me a free pastry from the case. Hint- the raspberry almond tart was unbelievably good! Can't wait until my travels bring me back again. I probably ought to try something else, but I'm so hooked on the Sammie I likely won't. read more

Absolutely perfection! I am a Mediterra groupie and love both locations. The baked goods and bread are fresh and delicious! The chocolate chip cookies are a must as they are rich with dark chocolate! And the zebra cakes... swoon! Food wise, the breakfast sammie, on a house made English muffin, is great (the pesto sauce... mmmmm). My son loves the meatballs! Also, the tuna melt is good! I was excited to try this place out this weekend as I live a short distance away. However as soon as we walked up. Someone doing balloons for kids was outside not wearing a mask. When we walked inside it was jammed packed. No one is 6 feet away and I think well over occupancy permitted for COVID. As much as I would like to try this place until they change COVID procedures I won't be back. This is a COVID spreading nightmare. read more

This place is awesome. Really great feel and very friendly people. The food, just like in Sewickley, is spot on and is a great addition to the neighborhood. I did not see at all the issues other have said about masks. Every employee had one on when I was there, earlier today, and I felt like they took all of the proper precautions. Opening a new restaurant is very difficult, so maybe they slipped a little but I saw no evidence of that during my visit. And no doubt I will be back for a drink once they get their liquor license to go with my Parma Cotta sandwich!! read more
