I've loved this place for years! Unfortunately, we had a "falling out" with them when they abruptly informed us (after more than a year and a half of ordering from them) that they no longer delivered to our apartment complex (which is right by the GW campus on Rt. 7.. maybe 3 miles from their location). However, I do have to say that I've tried several other 'greek' joints in the area (Amphora's, Amvrosia, and the new greek cafe in Countryside shopping center, which used to be Countryside cafe), and have to say, I still love MB's food the most! Their moussaka is to die for, and the stuffed grape leaves (*note - NOT to be confused with their Dolmades; which are the larger traditional stuffed leaves with a creamy sauce on top) are always fresh and delicious. We've tried pretty much everything on the menu here, from the crab cakes to the white pizza, and I gotta say overall the place is just fabulous. The ONLY entree I ever tried (probably 2 years ago, at least) that was not good was the chicken marsala. But hey.. you don't go to this place for the italian fare, you go for the Greek stuff!! The place is owned by a cute older greek couple, who make a lot of the specialty stuff fresh daily (including the moussaka- the taste of which will vary slightly depending on whether or not the husband or the wife made it- YUM!). Plus, the chicken souvlaki is succulent and flavorful and always a favorite of ours. If this place delivers to you still, I'm jealous!! If not.. head on up there and give them a try.. you won't be disappointed!! read more

As the temperature drops below freezing, the idea of hot food delivered to my door sounds very appealing to me. I had seen this place a few times as I drive home but never stopped. Then I saw their menu in my mailbox that beautifully shows pictures of Greece and the words "Free Delivery" next to it. The cheesy menu with the Atlantis style logo is "inspirational" enough to make you pick up the phone and dial -- but beware as thats where your "disappointing" journey will begin. I called the restaurant. I got a busy signal. I waited a few minutes and tried again. Same thing. I waited another 10 minutes and this time some lady answered the phone and asked me to hold. As I am on hold she is screaming at others to pick up the other phone. Very unprofessional. I ordered an appetizer, and 2 meals. The lady tells me it will be 45 minutes to 60 minutes. (The restaurant is less than 2 minute drive from my house). I said thats fine. An hour goes by and no one shows up. The driver calls twice to figure out the directions. He finally shows up an hour and 20 minutes later. Maybe he was on a super duper sonic flight from Greece. We are hungry and as we take the food out and take the first bite, its all cold. Kibbeh is cold, fries are cold, gyros are cold and pasta is lukewarm at best. I can't stand cold food and to me it defeats the whole purpose of delivery if you cant deliver hot, fresh food! First impressions are important and this was a horrible one at best. read more

We ended up here on a Sunday looking for brunch. It was your typical lower to mid-end Mediterranean joint. You can find a lot better quite easily. We started with the kibbah. It was good, although the tzadziki sauce left something to be desired. It had very little flavor to it. For the price, you can get an entree at most similar types of restaurants. I had the gyro platter. The salad loudly screamed 'We don't care.' Despite the restaurant featuring a salad bar, this was a pile of iceberg lettuce, one tomato slice, two cucumber slices and four olives with a very disappointing, unimaginative dressing. The gyro meat was good, the tzadziki continued to disappoint, the pita was average. The French fries were blah. The mister had a meatball sub. It was, he says, 'okay.' The bread was of poor quality and the cheese was cheap. They did have root beer on tap, which was a plus. Less of a plus was the meth-inspired service. Seriously, worst waitress we've encountered in Ashburn. She may have legitimately been high. She disappeared for long periods of time, never refilled our drinks, seemed very confused that her job included taking our order, refused to take our order until she came 'right back,' which was some period of time. We were never checked on and had to call for our check. We put a card down but it was another ten minutes before she picked it up. Another ten minutes before she returned it. Spent more time paying than ordering, waiting for our food and eating it combined. I can see us turning to Mediterranean Breeze for delivery after a long day at work, but we won't' be dining in again. Quite possibly the worst restaurant experience this year. Since I'm including some two week old leftovers I microwaved I think that's saying a lot. The food was mediocre, but not really deserving of a one star review. Why this place deserves a one star review is because it took an hour to get our food. I know what you're thinking, 'it was busy, you have to be forgiving during a rush'. No, my fellow yelper, it was not busy - nor did they have a short-staff in the kitchen, as witnessed by the other three tables which came in after us, who all got their food before us. That includes the lady who came in 25 minutes after us. But when they brought out our food, sans my daughter's cheeseburger, because that'd take an extra 15 minutes, that was too much. When you threaten to get up and leave, apparently physics reacts and the cheeseburger only takes two minutes to cook. Imagine that. read more

We've been going here for years, as its around the corner from where we live. Last year, we discovered their wonderful weekend breakfast and have gone many weekends to enjoy an eggs benedict, fresh omelettes, and the affordable kids meal choices for our boys. We've always been pleased with our experience and food, until this past Sunday morning. I'm afraid it was pretty bad, from our son's pancake breakfast which took 25 minutes to deliver to our table (it PANCAKES PEOPLE!), long after the rest of us were on plate #2 from the mediocre (new and disappointing) breakfast buffet. His tiny three pancakes were so late and cold at that. I had to ask her four times where were the pancakes??? She kept making excuses about the kitchen being tied up with a big catering job. At 9:30 am, and hello! If they were too busy to make three silver dollar size pancakes could they not have just served him some from the breakfast buffet? I was about to get up and get them myself. Ugh! Our server kept forgetting to bring my son his drink of chocolate milk as well. He never got a refill and he and I had to share a water for the rest of the meal, even after we asked three times. It was a carton, its not even like anyone had to pour it!! Ugh. Then the bill arrived. I was charged $2 for OJ which would have been fine, but it was literally in a tiny glass with about 3 inches of juice. Meanwhile, my older son also ordered OJ and it was $2, delivered in a nice tall full glass. When I questioned our very absent and indifferent server about it, she clearly gave me the brush off. Annnoying! She repeatedly brushed by our table without asking how we were doing. If we asked her to bring something (ketchup? a refill?) she would nod and keep walking, not even giving us a chance to finish our sentence. The breakfast buffet food was mediocre at best. For $12.95 per person I would expect better choices and they could have at least included my 3 inches of OJ in a tiny glass. I should have stuck to my usual of 'make your own omelette' off the menu for $7.50. In the end, we paid $47 for a family of four for breakfast. My youngest son left hungry and thirsty, never getting a drink refill. And I left feeling ripped off and annoyed. It will be hard to go back again after this experience. The cultural food was very fresh and flavorful. I had the Chicken Souvlaki Platter and it was delicious! The the price you get a good amount of tasty food. The french fries were nothing special though. I'd probably ask for a salad substitute instead of the fries next time. I agree with Alexandra M.--3.5 stars! I loved the decor of this place. With the exquisitely painted murals, you *almost* did feel like you escaped NoVA and were in the Mediterranean. The food was delicious. Hummus with crisp bread as an appetizer and Chicken Souvlaki for the main meal. My friend's husband ordered a salad, too and both her and I wished we had done the same after seeing how good it looked! My only complaint food-wise is that the Chicken Souvlaki came with potato chips and to get french fries was $2 more (some may call that a rip-off). Other than that, a very decent meal. The wait staff, however, left something to be desired. Even though there were only 4-5 tables occupied, it took us forever to flag down our waitress for the bill. ***3.5*** BF and I decided to try the place last night...we scored free live music on a Wed evening and it was a nice surprise; the guys were really good too! Service was pleasant. Ordered the special, prime rib...tasty! I only wish I didn't insist on the end cut as it was a bit dry, but that's my own fault...and a bit of horseradish would have been nice...It came with a large baked potato, and the salad bar...salad bar was pretty well stocked except the mixed greens were too wilted...their house dressing is delicious though and the marinated mushrooms and artichokes made up for it. BF ordered a steak salad and he said it was pretty good... Garlic bread was provided during meal service as well. Ended the meal with home made baklava, a nice big piece and very good. Next time, I'll def. try the moussaka... All in all, good prices and good food! read more

I came here few times only for breakfast, and they are solid overall. However, their hollandaise sauce, though homemade, is below average and below average. Just one more thing, on the menu it advertises "fresh squeezed orange juice" and they end up bringing juice off a bottle, the server confirmed. Please keep it honest. read more

Had dinner recently in their serene outdoor patio. It was very a very nice atmosphere. We all enjoyed it very much. The food was homemade and delicious. The appetizers of Zuchini. Lamb Malanek, Tzatziki and Saganaki were excellent and plentiful. The Saganaki is the most generous portion in the area. We all enjoyed our entre which was lamb chops. Delicious and plentiful. Been in Ashburn now for more than 10yrs and "The Breeze" has been a good and reliable option for carryout. Nice "family owned" joint. The food is always fresh and made to order. I am a fan of the Chicken Parm platter. Very nicely done with the chicken being pounded down. I also like the Gyros and Chicken Soulvaki snadwiches. The garlic bread that comes on the side with the platters can be a little hit or miss, but not a huge deal. On the lighter side, the salads are very good as well. I have ordered from them on multiple occasions and have gone into their restaurant for lunch with my children. I have been pleased with their food and their delivery is faster than any other local restaurant. I have had their pizza, their spaghetti, their salads, and many of their Italian cuisine menu items. I've been coming here for years but now since I work right near here, I've frequented a few more times. The food is always consistently mediocre. The hummus is a bit tasteless but the pita is good. All the salads are served with garlic bread and I'm not sure why, it's pretty irrelevant. The portions here are massive for the price, so be expecting leftovers! I enjoy the gyro salad but half the times the lettuce is wilted and tasteless. The gyro meat is a bit greasy sometimes as well, something I know comes with the territories but it almost drips off the meat and the ratio of meat to salad will make any carnivore happy. The service is polite and nice but last time I was here I asked for a to-go box and when it came out, there was grease already on the inside which is a bit strange. read more

Pretty solid Greek fare here. Their stuffed grape leaves are actually the proper Greek lamb and rice stuffed warm grape leaf with tangy lemon sauce delicacies rather than the cold, pickled meatless variety that seems sadly common to this area. They also use proper rotosserie roasted gyro meat rather than the more common pre-sliced and warmed in a drawer low grade stuff that is common in these parts. The dining area could use some major love and a whole lot of fresh paint though. It isn't showing the kind of attention and care that is apparent in their food. The wait staff is and has been for years kind of hit or miss. Some of them are fantastic while others have been... disappointing. Carry out here is actually very close to being as good as eating in, which is a very pleasant surprise for this area (usually around here places that are fabulous for eat in are many pegs lower on goodness with take out.) read more

I've been to the Mediterranean Breeze in Herndon before, so decided to try this location with my sister. We both got the chicken kebab and my brother-in-law got the gyro platter. We also got hummus for an appetizer. LOVED the hummus - the pita bread was warm and delicious with the cold hummus! We all liked our food but weren't "blown away" hence the four star review. The waitress we got (Danielle) was fabulous and we would come back just for her! Nice location, would definitely come back when it's warmer to sit outside. read more

The staff was great! The service was equally as good. The food was good. However, and this is a BIG however...the place was filthy! The carpet needs to be replaced. Their was food all over the floor. The tables were sticky from who knows what. They use to be a great place, but something has happened. They need a complete makeover to stay in business. This review is actually for the location in Herndon which we went to on 3/15/19. I'm not sure why it's not listed on Yelp. My neighbors and I were seated upstairs. We were served by the waiter named Jonathan. He had some challenges but it wasn't all his fault since he seemed to be the only waiter upstairs and it was packed. We cut him some slack. The problem was that it took an hour and ten minutes for two of us to get our food. I asked to speak to the manager because the remaining two still hadn't gotten their orders which were pizzas after two hours. The manager came upstairs and although she apologized she proceeded to put the blame only on Jonathan. I told her that if he was a new waiter that there should've been someone shadowing him and she said there was another waitress. I proceeded to tell her this was our first and last time coming there. Any decent manager would've apologized and comped the entire meal. She apologized, threw all the blame on the waiter, and continued to try and give a reason for why it happened. There is NEVER a rational reason for customers having to wait for over 2 hours for food! I just pray Jonathan didn't lose his job because of this. He may need additional training but so does the manager. read more

Our waitress was very kind and helpful. The food was not the best. My party and I ordered the chicken kabob and gyro platter. The rice was drenched in the bean sauce, which made it taste gross. The gyro platter was a large portion and could easily be shared with 3 people, but it still wasn't the best. The pita bread tasted good, it was soft. It was my first time ordering from Mediterranean Breeze, was excited to find something different than the normal Chinese, Italian or subs for delivery. I ordered hummus and a gyro and chicken souvlaki pita. I was upset because I had to spend an additional $2.25 to add fries...but what came with it, was a handful. Very disappointing. I really wanted to try their tzatkiki sauce but that was an addition $2.50. The amount of meat in the pitas was good, flavorful. Hummus was a little soupy but had a nice kick to it. I really wanted to try the spinach pies but what I ordered with tip was already $42.00... Not sure if there will be a next time. read more

Got a Greek salad to go for lunch one day. Iceberg lettuce with a few slices of bell pepper was disappointing. Saw a sign for Sunday breakfast buffet, so gave it a try. Was seated at a filthy table so wobbly that my coffee and OJ was spilling. Plates, glasses, and my elbows were sticking to the table even after it had been wiped off. Buffet was ok, just eggs, bacon, sausage and French toast/pancakes. The best part was a slice of watermelon at the end. Shocked at the bill: buffet, 1 cup of coffee and a glass of grocery store pulp free OJ (they claim fresh squeezed) came out to $25. Not a good deal for the money in my opinion. read more

Went here for lunch today. Very friendly and courteous staff. The salad bar had a delicious Mediterranean flair with hummus, marinated vegetables, and stuffed grape leaves among other tasty options. So, ok, I like this place for delivery but when I dined in, I realized I wouldn't be returning. How do they even have 3.5 stars?! Employees were actually sitting down at tables and eating and then when a customers food was ready, the employees would then serve the food without washing their hands or even using gloves. Come on.
