This spot gets a solid 3-star rating from me! The restaurant is in a strip mall that is near the North Star mall. We shared the meze platter (small), and I got the ali nazik. I loved the meze platter since there was a sampling of 5 of their different appetizers. Everything on the platter tasted very fresh and was delicious. The ali nazik was a bit more lackluster: the side salad could have been fresher and the grilled jalapeño was only half grilled (it tasted raw); the rice was a little mushy; and the lamb was a bit over seasoned. Service was a bit slow, and you have to wave down the one server at times since she was hidden behind the front counter most of the time. While I would not go out of my way to return here, I would come back for a quick meal if I was already in the area! read more

This is my second time at this restaurant after changing ownership. And my second time ordering the same thing lahmacun aka lahem bi ajeen the Lebanese way of calling it. It is absolutely delicious! We took it to go with some falafel and devoured it in the car! This time I had the chance to chat with the owner. Very down to earth very chatty and kind! I learned that the chef is from Adana and whoever takes over for the rest of the day is from different nationalities. I had a chat with another person who is from Jordan. Mixed grill for one was very appealing and I was excited to try. All meat was well spiced, fresh and juicy. It comes with 2 pieces of each lamb, chicken and one skewer of kofte kebab and some doner meat. Rice was cooked to perfection and salad was very tasty and fresh. However I wish they would offer some kind of dipping sauce to meat. Coffee was subpar. 1/3 of cup was filled with coffee sediments. My wife enjoyed and shared a Doner Kabob, thin slices of marinated lamb and beef on a bed of rice. I enjoyed a Turkish pizza, Lahmachun, thin crust topped with mixed ground lamb and beef and chopped garden vegetables. Both plates came with a side salad and a wedge of lemon. I was so happy I found a favorite of mine from my years living around turkey. Lamarchun is a flavor pleasure I just enjoy each time. I'd describe my experience as frustrating. I always like to eat Mediterranean when I visit SA because my hometown has no good options for it, but this time I decided to try someplace different. After seeing its reviews, we decided to take a chance on it. We were disappointed. The first red flag was the appearance. Scuffed walls, cardboard boxes in the entry, clearly tilted picture frames. I've eaten at worse, though, and as long as the quality of the food makes up for it, I can excuse a lot. We went for the platter that has the five different appetizers on it, my mom got Doner, and I ordered Adarna, since I really enjoyed it when I ordered it at a different turkish restaurant. I hate to say it, but the highlight was the pita. The 'Turkish Tea' tasted like generic black tea, served in a dirty cup. The rice was undercooked, and the kabob meat was underwhelming. It wasn't even particularly appetizing from a plating perspective. A lot of these complaints might sound nitpicky, but after every bite I was contemplating a better mediterranean restaurant we could have gone to instead. I enjoy turkish cuisine in all its authentic glory, and instead i received a subpar facsimile at a premium price. We will not be returning. read more

I recently ordered a lamb shish kebab and a Turkish tea to sip on while waiting for my food. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I did not receive the Turkish tea as expected; instead, the staff member behind the counter seemed preoccupied and I ended up with a tea from a dispenser, which tasted like basic Lipton black tea bags. Additionally, the lamb shish kebab, priced at $20, was not satisfactory either. It consisted of five small, charred pieces of meat that were heavily seasoned with pepper. The only good thing about this whole plate was the pickled cabbage ...Overall, I found the quality of both the drink and the meal to be below my expectations. Great find!! This - I assume - family run business is great! We went on a Wednesday evening, it wasn't busy at all, we had great service from a very friendly gentleman. The fresh bread that comes out initially is soooo soft and delicious, there is olive oil and a shaker of spices on the table to us for dipping. We did order the Turkish Pizza because we had never heard of it and thought it would blow our mind, the pictures look amazing. It was good, but not mind blowing. I'd recommend ordering it as an appetizer to share with the table. We also ordered the mixed plate for one which was plenty for two to share and was amazing! What this place lacks in decor the excellent service and food make up for it. I know there are some reviews here that make it sound like the food here is horrible; everyone has their own flavor pallet. As for how I rate the food, I find the food very flavorful. It's not overwhelming or lacking. The babaganoush was something very different and not what I'm used to. It was tasty and creamy! My husband isn't a fan of babaganoush, but the one here, he actually liked! Turkish Pizza!! OMG... that was amazing. Ordered the Lahmachun and added babaganoush on top... Amazing. My daughter and I shared the Doner Kabab plate. The serving size is quite healthy so if you're hungry, there's plenty of food. This place is so amazingly delicious! We came here with a GroupOn. Place had only one table served with like 8 people in it and us when we can in. Our server didn't speak much English so usually that means the place is very authentic Turkish. Love it! We got our Turkish drinks and although they took a while to bring out the food nice and hot I know we took a while to study the menu since it was the first time coming here. We needed to make sure our picky kids were going to eat all they were ordering. When we got our plates we weren't disappointed. Everything was sooo so good, couldn't believe we hadn't been there before. All the white rice had a delicious cilantro that mixed well with the meats and the charred tomatoes and Turkish yoghurt to dip or spread on our plates. Meat was perfectly cooked and soft, nothing over cooked. All fresh! Turns out they had just changed owners a few weeks ago and that's why it was getting more attention then usual! The tables were dressed nicely and the decor looked authentic but everything looked like it was getting a little more sprucing up from the new owner! Great job!!! Owner came by the table to offer us some deserts and to see if we had liked everything. It's definitely a sign that the owner cares about its patrons. We will definitely be returning to try out new Turkish delicacies and enjoying the Turkish tunes while we wait for them to surprise us with their delicious new dishes we haven't tried. We ordered the mezze appetizer a large salad and the mixed grill. The owner apparently didn't understand our order. The appetizer platter was delicious, the salad good but I wouldn't call the serving a large salad. He never brought the mixed grill never once came back to the table to check on us, we had to ask him about the mixed grill which he didn't put on our order. The waitress took our drink orders and then took forever to get us what we ordered. They were standing around and talking to each other. We eventually ordered our food. My first and last time!!! went here tonight and the owner took our order! We ordered an appetizer, salad, and a mixed grill. Mind you, we were the only people in the place at 7:30. Our appetizer was amazing, but then we sat for at least 20 mins, not once did the owner come back, finally my friend got up and asked about our meal and they said we didn't order that. So basically we got an appetizer and a salad, and they left a menu on the table, but never checked to see what we needed after the appetizer or to even refill waters! We were in the mood for a lamb and while scrolling though Yelp, we found this gem. We arrived about an hour before closing so it wasn't too busy. The waitress was really nice and right away offered us a high chair for our baby. While you look through the menu they bring you some bread and a salad, which was delicious. Shortly after, we got our food and let me tell you, they were on point. Now the Doner Kebab is a staple at Mediterranean restaurants and there's was really good. Went in on 12pm on a Saturday and NOONE was there. There was no wait and obviously the staff was attentive because we were the only ones there. I ordered the humus, insanely delicious, with homemade fresh bread, dolma, again insanely good with a Squeeze of lemon on top, and the feta cheese appetizer, this was not so much a hit it was really just blocks of feta on top of lettuce. My new friend recommended this place so of course I am excited to try it. Self seating and quickly asked what to drink and given a menu. I got complimentary bread which was soft fresh and really tasty. I had in sweetened tea which had great flavor. No sweetener needed. I am happy to say the food had great flavor with good portions. So here's the deal, sometimes it may take a little longer because it's fresh and always looks great. The folks in the back take serious pride in what goes out. With a menu full of variety the food just makes you feel good. Menus are easy to read with pictures and good font type. Friendly enough for a family, or romantic enough for a date night. I would warn you not to fill up on the delicious warm bread that comes out when you are seated as the plates are big enough for sharing so order a lot of different stuff and jump right in. The lavash is made from scratch in house and SO DELICIOUS I got the doner wrap- the price felt too high until my order arrived and once I saw the size, I found the price to be fair. Filling portions. The owner is so polite, welcoming and accommodating. The best service I've ever received in a Turkish restaurant (unfortunately service in most Turkish restaurants are terrible but you just accept it cause the food is so good). One of the other reviewers posted about their sign being misleading.... and it ABSOLUTELY is. I've posted a picture so you can see what it looks like and so that you do not get fooled. You buy an entree and get a free salad with each entree that you buy. I really enjoy mediterranean food and knew I wanted to eat some lamb, so I made my way to this Turkish grill. When I walked in, I was immediately taken to a table. The decor is intriguing and soft music keeps you company. I ordered an appetizer because I was incredibly hungry. The portion was much smaller than I anticipated, but it was tasty. Pita does not come with your order as the restaurant serves their own bread. I'm not sure it's homemade, but it isn't bad either. When it came time to order, I had the Doner Kebab. I think this was the highlight of my entire experience. It came with a hefty helping of rice, veggies, and meat. I almost couldn't eat it all-but I did because it was SO good. While this place was tasty and enjoyable, there wasn't anything remarkable about it. There are some other mediteranean restaurants I like better in San Antonio, so I'm not sure that I will come back. read more

This is a very authentic, mom and pop run joint - and we're happy to stop by here every time we're visiting San Antonio. The ambiance is very homey, with tables situated close to one another. There's Turkish decor and art all around, and you'll always find a lively crowd here. Now to the good stuff. You'll get complimentary bread, olive oil and salad at the start. We make sure to get an appetizer here. The Mercimek soup and Dolma are very authentic, solid choices. For the main course, would recommend the mixed grill if you've never been here before. Rule of thumb is to order the portion size for one less person (if you're 2 people, order the mixed grill for 1) - you'll get more than enough food to share. In addition to generous portions of delicious food, the Mediterranean Turkish Grill will have belly dancing and live music nights (check their Instagram for when). Service recently has taken a hit since they brought in new staff and began accepting online orders, but we're still happy to go and wait nonetheless.
