Mee Dee Kitchen on La Brea is honestly one of the best Thai restaurants in Los Angeles. I've tried so many Thai spots around the city and none come close to the flavor and quality here. Every dish tastes authentic and made with love. My favorite dishes are the Krapow Chicken, krapow beef and the Yellow Curry, all full of rich, balanced flavor that hits perfectly every time. My Asian friend was horrified with this place. Tam salad was pretty, but neglected to muddle the ingredients so dressing didn't mix - flavorless and lazy. Where else do they cut corners? Rice WAY TO WET, the rest of the food was bland. The only spoons are what comes with the dishes. The only thing authentic to this Thai restaurant is the fact that it's located in kosher town so expect it to be bland in that regard because culturally, Thai people like to serve what they can sell regionally. It's instilled into our culture to cater to our locals. Long wait times, small kitchen, wrong order doubling our wait time and didn't get a single dish in a half hr at the least. They seemed more busy with their online orders than dine in customers at the time. Took forever to get any service, check, etc. Crying tiger meat was too dry/bland and dipping sauce was lacking any real flavor/depth. Tom Yum was light tasting and honestly, lighter tasting than the jar paste version you can whip up yourself with just some water. Pad see ew lacked flavor as well. Needs more heat in the wok, no char on the noodles and def needs more soy sauce/dark soy sauce. They also don't serve any beer here so expect it to be a long dinner. The location looks like it used to be an ice cream shop or something so don't expect much for decor. No idea why this place has the rating it does because as a Thai/Lao person, I'm offended that they chose to cater to the local bland taste buds vs making authentic Thai food but that's why they aren't in Thai town. I'm so happy to have this place in the neighborhood. The food is outstanding. The tom kha gai is my new favorite and it's the reason I've now been back twice. The grilled shrimp salad has a perfectly seasoned dressing. And the pad thai is simple yet very tasty. And they make a delicious unsweetened matcha iced tea. Indoors, the restaurant itself is clean, casual, and pleasant with lots of natural light. There's also outdoor seating in the courtyard opposite the ever-popular Wursthaus (which I'm not a fan of, BTW). The owner is really nice too. Her son just graduated from UCLA :-) Tip: Street parking on La Brea is impossible/illegal during rush hour, but there is parking in an underground garage accessed behind the building. And if you're in a rush, they will bring your takeout order to you when you pull up out front. read more

Just when you thought you knew Thai cuisine, just wait until you come here. We asked our server for her recommendations and she provided a lot of suggestions. The cabbage wrapped shrimp is a bit tough to bite through, so it's best to use the provided knife to cut it up. The provided sauce really adds to the flavoring. The green curry has an unusual taste, can't exactly identify what, but it wasn't my cup of tea. The rice was blue, kind of interesting as well. It tasted the same as white rice, just blue. The house style curry was much better, than the green curry. Once again, it was served with the blue rice. Street parking can be tough, but make sure to read all the street signs before walking away from your vehicle.
