Best recipes ever. Salmon Sensation uses a Northern Thailand curry that I can only guess is part peanut satay, part dark roux curry and some kind of tamarind. It's a "good on anything" sauce. Literally. The Golden Tofu is like having a tofu Tonkatsu. Which means try some of the Sensation sauce on it. The added crispy soft shell crab turns the usual papaya salad into a delicacy version. I'm uniformly amazed at the always kind and sincere service we receive here. And the light jazz atmospheric music just sets the evening right for a really getaway kind of place sitting in an otherwise normal strip mall. I've only tried this place twice but so good. There has been so much flavor in the chicken and beef. There is only one employee taking orders, bussing, delivering the dishes and I see her hard work so much. Definitely recommend this place. The food here is so good. They have a very pleasant ambiance, even though it is a smaller restaurant on Wilshire. The staff is pleasant and the service was great. Upon walking in, it felt like you entered into a Thai temple with decorative figures and ambiance. From the outside it looks just like a strip mall, but don't let that fool you. Service is good. I see their regulars coming in for pick-ups. Portion sizes are huge and presentation factor was amazing! I got a huge bowl of Rad na, I mean huge! Never have I ever had a bowl that big. They also have a lunch special time period, so don't miss out. Parking here is free and if you're museum and art gallery hopping, it's a short few minute walk. Our server was very attentive, which was nice. There was only one other couple dining in while my husband and I were there on a weekend afternoon. I had the sweet and sour tofu, which was just ok. I didn't like that it was literally sitting on top of the sauce. The presentation was just kind of meh. Also the spring rolls were good, but again, on top of the sauce. And you only get two, which are cut in half to make it look like more... My husband got a curry noodle dish, but he didn't like the texture of the noodles. He said they were kind of vegetable-y. Oliver really hooked us up with his family owned business and mother's cooking! If you feel like sitting in a nice clean place which is a hidden gem in the Mid-Wilshire area this is your place! He sadly has to close his other location based on the Pandemic but it's good to know this place is still open. Food was fresh and delicious. Tawanna Thai has been around for years and I am happy to see it still around. I have not been there for a long time so I decided to come in when the cravings for Thai food kicked in. Tawanna Thai is located in the a mini shopping mall in the corner of Crescent Heights and Wilshire. There is ample free parking but please pay attention to where you can enter and exit as they are one way in/out and the out driveway is actually cut in half with a chain barrier. Tawanna Thai has a modern and sleek interior feel and stands out from it's neighbors. It is still casual but if you want something a bit nice to sit in, Tawanna Thai is that place. I ordered for take out and it took about 25 mins for the food to be made. The portions are generous and I had a lot left over for three more servings. Pad-se-ew was delicious but for my liking, I added more soy sauce. The Crying Tiger sizzling beef is very flavorful and the soy chili sauce was served in the side. It's a perfect low carb dinner as it is served with a spring mix. The Tom Kha soup wasn't as sour as i wanted it to be and more creamy with the coconut milk. Overall, I was satisfied and i am interested in trying more of the menu to see which are my favorites. read more

This place is tiny and you will be seated within arms length of the people next to you We got the Hawaiian fried rice with no shrimp and gai kua with chicken. Highly recommend getting a side of lime. The pineapple fried rice was very good and so was the gai kua. Both were seasoned really well! Only complaints are the seating, the portion size for the price and also finding what felt like tons of tiny bone pieces.
