MeetFresh, a Taiwanese, dessert based eatery is a place that serves a great variety of cold and hot goodness. This place serve orders pretty quickly. I highly recommend the Pudding and Q Mochi Shaved Ice. There are many toppings that go on as well: different types of pudding, jellies, taro balls, etc. This is definitely a more shareable item, easily good for 3-4 people. I am so happy we have a more traditional Taiwanese dessert bar right here in Chapel Hill! I have only tried three categories of items: grass jelly iced, fluffy milk teas and fresh milk teas. I loved them all! Milk tea wise, the "regular" level of sugar is just perfect with slightly less ice. There are lots of options to add in your tea other than regular tapioca for only fifty cents to a dollar. The fluffy milk teas was richer than expected and it was difficult to finish the regular size. Overall, I think the dessert sizes are great for sharing with one other person because they are pretty generously sized. ***Meet Fresh has extended hours on the weekends but on the days I go later they tend to be out of taro items read more

So, this is a chain that comes from Taiwan and it's amazing. If you want traditional Taiwanese shaved ice this is the place to be. It's sad that there aren't more in the area, but I'm so happy meet fresh is here. I really love the grass jelly shaved ice because of the flavoring in it. I also really love the almond pudding that you can add on top. I highly highly recommend. read more

This review will be only based on the shaved ice at this place - didn't try anything else. I've had shaved ice before in LA before and it was literally the best bingsoo dessert I ever had in my life. It was basically like eating powdered snow and was so buttery smooth that it tasted like a fluffy cloud. I'll never forget it. Now onto the review of this place. I think this may be the only bingsoo place in all of the triangle and for that I give this place props. However, I have no choice but to compare this place to heavenly bingsoo in LA. Due to that I have to take away a star. The shaved ice at this place did not taste like a fluffy cloud. I could still taste chunks of ice and this for me doesn't hold the standard of a true bingsoo. My family of 4 ordered the Pudding and Qmochi Shaved Ice - that one seemed to be the best seller at that place so we went with it. We ended up paying 13 bucks for it. It's pretty pricey but the size of it is enormous! For a family of me, my wife, daughter, and baby (he didn't actually eat it lol) it was plenty enough. The bingsoo came with an almond pudding, caramel pudding, mochi rice cakes, taro balls, and a scoop of ice cream on top. Inside the shaved ice they squirted plenty of sweetened condensed milk. Overall, the flavors were pretty nice. Once we finished thru all the condensed milk though, we were basically just eating plain ice so we had to let it melt a bit before being able to finish. So in summary, not a bad place being the only bingsoo option in town and a good place to try if you're in the mood for shaved ice. If you want amazing bingsoo that is unforgettable, you'd probably have to hit up LA, Taiwan, South Korea, or some Asian country known for it. read more

I wish this place was closer to my college campus, I would come every other day to get Asian desserts! Coming here to get shaved ice has became somewhat of a pastime whenever my family comes to visit me at college (see the picture for the reason why! They're massive, pretty, perfectly sweet, and topped with a variety of yummy desserts). They've also got other desserts (warm and cold) and lots of boba drinks as well. Service is very nice and friendly, and they have a lot of outdoor seating which I appreciated! read more

Our favorite dessert place whenever we are in Chapel Hill area. Currently they are not letting customer allow to dine in, but everything else are still the same as pre-COVID time. All the menu items are available. They always make fresh after we order, so everything is nicely done for you. The store person is really nice as well (something I really need to mention!!). Since we are not local here, and last we went was more than 6 month ago, yet he remember us! The small stuff by the store person make very big difference the whole entire experience of the store itself as well. Of course the food is great too!! read more

As a UNC student, I heard a lot about this place! They were praised for their boba and Taiwanese desserts. We ate here for dessert, and it was a great choice! The menu has a variety of hot/cold dishes. The dining space was very spacious and well-lit. The dessert was served in large amounts and great for the price. If you have had Korean Bingsoo, Meet Fresh is for sure a great substitute for it as there are little options for Bingsoo in the area. The food is great for people who love trying new desserts and natural flavors. Also, it's great for those who have a sweet tooth after lunch or dinner! read more

TLDR: Great dessert spot with traditional Taiwanese desserts! Great place to share dessert + hang out with friends, or even do light work. *** Meet Fresh is such a gem of a dessert place! Especially considering that most of its locations are in Asia/ California/ more Asian-centric regions. If you go, you should definitely try their shaved ice! But only if you are going with friends, because the thing is MASSIVE. The first time I went to Meet Fresh, my friends and I made the mistake of eating a massive dinner beforehand and we barely made a dent in the thing. However, the Pudding & Q Mochi shaved ice is so good! Lightly sweet because the shaved ice is soaked in condensed milk. I love the yellow egg pudding and mochi toppings. Shaved ice is such a popular Asian dessert, so I'm happy that there's a local place I can go whenever I'm craving it! Also, it's only $12! Considering I would only ever order it if I had at least 3 other people to share it with, that's a steal. I've also had the classic boba, and I feel like their tea definitely tastes stronger compared to other local boba places. For me its a plus, because it makes their milk tea taste more authentic. I find the boba a tad bit soft, but no one else I go to Meet Fresh with seems to have the same opinion. Either way, good quality boba for sure! I also love the vibe of Meet Fresh! Went on a Saturday night and it was poppin. Lots of college kids chilling, families gathered around the larger tables, college grads doing work. It's a pretty big, open area with lots of seating. My only complaint (if it can be counted as that) is that I wish its location were in walking distance of Franklin Street! Although perhaps it's to its advantage that it's in a shopping complex a short drive away from UNC, or else it would probably be overflowing with college kids on any given night. Overall, great quality milk tea + desserts, and a great place to hang with friends! I want to try something with sweet potato + red bean next time, for sure. read more

Ok so this is a pretty unique Asian dessert place using traditional ingredients/flavors... #throwback. I've tried 2 of their top 5 (Icy Taro Ball #4 and Pudding/QMochi with Shaved Ice) and recommended both. My personal favorite toppings are Taro (I've never had it like this!!!) and Red Bean. You can also add extra scoops of ice cream (delicious) for extra $. This is a good place to try new things -- I've never had almond/egg pudding before and it is pretty good (but not my favorite). Same for jelly noodles. However, I did try their Bubble Tea and am not a fan. This was during their first few weeks of opening so maybe it will improve. Plenty of parking and plenty of seats. Great place to hang out with friends and family :) Anyways, I will be back! read more

Excellent authentic and somewhat savory Chinese desserts. Their dishes combine nuanced flavors and nice texture with fresh ingredients. Noob to this magical mountain of icy goodness, BUT... from a Filipino halo halo connoisseur, this Taiwanese dessert may rival my childhood favorite. We made a rookie mistake at our first visit. To be honest, I am not a big fan of sweet desserts. But yet, I am so thankful that there's meet fresh in the RTP area. I love grass jelly so much that I can eat it all day. This signature grass jelly is not too sweet and it's great to eat on a hot day. Usually I add the almond pudding. It taste a little like flan. If you had dinner and do not want to eat too much, I recommend sharing it with someone. At the bottom of the grass jelly, there is shaved ice and they will give you a small container of cream to pour on the dessert. They have so many options to pick from and there's a drink menu similar to bubble tea. I got the rice drink last time I was there and it was very interesting. At first, I thought it was odd, but the flavor grew on me. Highly recommend this place for some Asian desserts! read more

We had these desserts after our dinner from a nearby bubble tea shop. The Q Mochi shaved ice was excellent with perfectly cooked taro balls which was much better than our time before months ago when it was not cooked long enough. The mango shaved ice is larger and better than snow ice we had previously at another place (Cha... House) in downtown. It was not overly sweet and the mango are ripe and freshly cut, so this is a seasonal offering. An order tip that the owner mentioned, we can ordered the mango shaved ice as half mango and half strawberry which is their other seasonal offering. Each dish is large for a family of three or two adults but we made a delicious mistake of ordering two for our small family. This establishment really means fresh as part of the restaurant name states. Also the owner stated that the Q mochi dish would take a little longer to prepare because the mochi are cooked per order and not beforehand. The customer service is fantastic! Friendly and helpful while trying to choose from the many wonderful drinks and shaved ice treats!!!! So many things to try still, but I love the shaved ice and all the additions to choose from!!! I wish I lived there to try everything they have. This is my go-to place for boba and waffles! I even forgot to take pictures of the food and drinks because you just want to eat/drink it right away! Definitely the original waffles are wayyyy better than their matcha and chocolate waffles. It's a little gooey on the inside but crunchy on the outside which is how I like them! The staff are super friendly and sweet! Their black sugar fresh milk with boba and their wintermelon tea is so good! I have never personally tried their refreshing icy desserts because they look like you need around 6 people to finish it when it's only me and my nephew usually. This place is much needed in chapel hill. Because there are not many asian dessert places, this place is a perfect go to if your craving classic Taiwanese desserts. They have both cold and hot options, and if you are not in the mood for grass jelly they also have boba tea! The mochi dessert is really good as well if you are looking for something small and quick. I was so surprised and happy to find out there was a Meet Fresh in the area! It's one of my favorite places in California. It's hard to find a good Taiwanese dessert place in the US. Their side of Caesar salad is always nice and crisp, with just the right amount of dressing and flavorful cheese shavings. The staff is engaged and attentive without going overboard. I would be there every week and my pocketbook would be tapped out! They do also have vegan cheesecakes, and I tried two- but I honestly wasn't very fond of them. I think they had a good flavor, but it was a texture issue for me and a personal preference. So don't hold that against them! I'm sure if you're vegan, you would appreciate them. Another note: they have odd hours in my opinion. The shrimp, on the other hand, wasn't anything special. Quite small. Not really juicy. If calamari was an option for this combo, we'd definitely go for it! Seasoning was a little salty, but the breading was nice and crispy. Not burnt tasting or oily, and complimented well with the cocktail and tartar sauce. Fries were normal, but quite small in portion. For $30, I'd imagine either a little more fries if shrimps are only 6 pieces, along with a piece of catfish. Food was pretty good! The first time we went astonished us the moment we entered. The logo and the "Chapel Hill Mogo Tee" signage on the wall, the impressive menu of various teas, the 2 kiosks for ordering, the neat seats, fresh fruits inside the glass case, bright and clean spaces that make Moge Tee an inviting cafe to sip cha and/or enjoy delicious desserts. It was the complete opposite of Tiger Sugar's ambiance in Cary, NC (previously reviewed). Moge Tee's vast selection of milk teas & fruit teas with cheese foam, fruit Yakult, milk swirls, matcha, and Thai varieties can satisfy almost any tea lover's craving. Two uncommon ingredients stood out the first time we viewed Moge's menu: red bean & creme brulee. Average milk tea cafes likely don't have either of these ingredients, so when we saw that Moge offers both as part of some of its teas, we knew that this milk tea cafe is clearly beyond average. Established in mainland China, the Moge Tee franchise has stores operating globally, with locations in China, Southeast Asia, Australia & North America. According to its website, Moge Tee has grown its presence in the U.S. since 2018. Out of the global milk tea franchises we've tried, Moge Tee is our new favorite, and ranks above SharedTea, Kung Fu Tea, Meet Fresh & Quickly. It might be on the same level as Tiger Sugar in terms of overall drink quality & selection but Tiger Sugar probably does brown sugar milk drinks better; whereas Moge Tee tries to cater more to different tea preferences, and from the 4 drinks we've tasted so far, we think Moge does a pretty good job at that. Here are my thoughts on the 4 large drinks we've tried in our first 2 visits (Note: we took sips of each other's drinks so could review what my girl ordered): 1. Red Bean Milk Tea + Creme Brulee (75% sweetness, light ice) - It was creamy but not as creme brulee in this drink didn't stand out as much as the Brown Sugar Boba in Boba Baba in Cary (previously reviewed). The best part if this drink was the red beans that went well with the milk tea. 2. Matcha Milk Tea with Creme Brulee (50% sweetness level) - unique mix of matcha & creme brulee. Mildly sweet and would please matcha lovers. 3. Fresh Taro Boba Milk Tea - Uses fresh organic taro instead of the cheap purple taro powder that many milk tea shops use. Cashier said that sweetness level can't be adjusted here, and I assumed that it was because the fresh taro already adds its natural sweetness. But when I first sipped it, it was not sweet at all, but it tasted refreshing, and I prefer this over classic taro milk tea made of powder. It reminded me of the taro milk tea I tried in Grand Asia but this is less sweet, so if you're craving for sweet milk tea, I wouldn't recommend this. There seems to be a minimal amount of a boba, which seems fine for this kind of drink. 4. Coco Red Bean (50% sweetness level) - My girl ordered this drink and we both think that this is the best and most unique drink we've tried in Moge Tee. The combination of coconut milk, red bean & ice tasted super delicious. Every sip tasted rich & sweet, and the red beans added that special flavor you won't find in many milk tea cafes. Other than the milk teas, we enjoyed the creme brulee dessert ($3+). We already ordered a total of 7 creme brulees. This is more affordable than the $6 caramel custard in that Brecotea, so the value here in Moge is so much better. The layer of cameralized sugar on top and its custard base taste fantastic. It's a great dessert to pair with milk tea, especially if the milk tea is just mildly sweet. There were some minor flaws in our tea-venturing experience of our 2nd visit in Moge Tee. This time, both kiosks were not working, so we had to order in front, and when we tried to, the guy cashier said system wasn't ready, so we had to wait a few minutes before we could order. The guy cashier wasn't as friendly as Nico from Boba Baba but he did answer my question about the fresh taro boba clearly. Brown Sugar boba was also not available in our 2nd visit. While Moge Tee in downtown Chapel Hill may not have the best customer service, it still exceeded our expectations when it comes to its overall milk tea quality, fresh ingredients, and inviting ambiance. It's the 7th cafe that made it to my "Best Milk Tea Cafes in the Triangle NC" Yelp Collection. Overall Score: 4.7/5
