There are other Asian dessert/boba places I'd rather visit but I wouldn't decline a trip if someone really wanted to go (which was the case here). There was one kiosk where you could order but we were having issues with it (credit card reader didn't work) so we ended up ordering at the counter anyway. This seems really common in the NYC area but they have minimum $10 for credit card transactions which is annoying since the item I wanted was like $4 (I ended up just having our friends order it). I got the Mochi Milk shaved ice and I can't think of any worse way to use $16.88 The shaved ice comes with two puddings, ice cream and various mochi. This place is so slow that I'm surprised the shaved ice didn't already melt by the time we got our order. There was a line when we first walked into the place but that gave us time to look at the menu and decide what we wanted to order. We ordered a couple items like the strawberry shaved ice and then we decided to take a seat at a nearby table. There were random trays just lying around that other people left behind. The trays with the bowls and cups all had leftover uneaten food in them and they weren't cleared out for the entire time that we sat there. We waited and waited for our number to be called but it was around 20 minutes later when our number was called...we could barely hear the guy cause there's no microphone or indicator to know that your order is ready. 20+ minutes for shaved ice and desserts are ridiculous since it doesn't take that long to compile desserts out of pre-made items. The passionfruit mango tea was just syrups and tea....$7 for that and it shouldn't take that long either...but it did. The strawberry shaved ice was good but underwhelming for what we paid for it...it was literally just a couple of sliced up strawberries on a bed of crushed ice and a scoop of vanilla ice cream...notice I said the shaved ice was more like crushed ice. After walking around Tangram Mall in Flushing, my friends and I decided to stop here to sit and enjoy some boba. We ordered off the self-order kiosks. You can order on a kiosk or you can order through a worker, the food is good and fast. However, the workers are rude and unfriendly. I asked them to give me a bowl because i accidentally pressed "to go" instead of for here, and I wanted to put my food into a bigger bowl, the workers seemed annoyed when I asked them. If I pass by a Meet Fresh, I always stop by. I absolutely love their desserts because they are never too sweet. They are also very filling with the mochi balls and taro balls. I ordered one of specialty items (as pictured). But I honestly tried through most of their menu and could not find an item I would not get. My partner and I came here on two separate occasions to try their desserts; we ordered the Cold Coco Sago Soup B (from their new Coco Sago Series) the first time around and the Hot Almond Soup Signature the second time around, and both were delectable! The fragrant red beans and soft, chewy boba were my favorite toppings, though the mini taro balls were quite good as well. I should probably warn you -- it's a long wait time to order (even with the kiosk) and to get your order so if you're paying for parking in Tangram or any of the nearby garages, rip. On the environment: The environment is mostly open concept and the seating layout is definitely unique -- you can tell the designer did whatever they could to maximize the surface area to accommodate customers. I do want to say that I'm impressed with some of the seat designs that are meant for individuals who probably just want to enjoy their dessert alone. I'm an extremely social person but occasionally I like to go out alone too because I need to recharge plus I actually enjoy my own company. Sadly, it's not always convenient to do that since most places have tables for 2 to 4+ people (I don't mind the stares; I just feel guilty for taking up big tables) so the seating here is a game changer! On the food: We ordered the ube shaved ice dessert. This dessert is meant for 1-2 people, maybe even 2-3. It's got a scoop of ube paste on top and variations of rice balls. There are also red beans floating around on the side the mountain of ice (my least favorite part of this dessert). The chewiness of the tapioca and taro balls serves a nice contrast to the cold shaved ice. Every bite is a different experience. If you're a texture person like me, you'd enjoy this. I kept getting brain freeze on every other bite so each bite I took felt like I'm just one away from having a seizure. I eventually listened to myself and stopped munching on the ice.
