The mango shaved ice is good, but not as good I don't think as the slush (the ice is just normal ice and not the flavored, snow ice you might be getting at some other places). Straight outta Taiwan, this chain has finally made it's way to Suburbia, Texas, and it has been so well-received. Everything on the menu can and maybe should be shared with a couple of your best friends = good sign number two, for encouraging friendships. There's free wifi, and the password is the first few numbers of the Fibonacci sequence = good sign number three, for the nerd like me. The 刨冰 (bao bing = shaved ice) here is Taiwanese. It's pretty different from the sweet, colorful patbingsoo of South Korea, so don't come looking for that. The colors here are earthier, featuring pale purple taro tones, mild yellow-orange sweet potato notes, and dark herbal jelly shades; the tastes are likewise multidimensional, inviting you to focus on the varied textures and flavors beneath the sweetness level and temperature. For first timers, shaved ice with assorted toppings is a good place to start. The hot desserts are also yum in a soothing way. This spot is the new hotness in town. I am legitimately surprised how popular it has been. Featuring Taiwanese desserts with more traditional flavors, Meet Fresh appeals to both the older and younger crowds. My go to orders are the Meet Fresh signature (the taro and sweet potato balls don't taste like much but they are so good..) and the mango shaved ice. This is a good combo of milder and then sweeter flavors. Careful with the ice cream on the shaved ice though, I've dropped it more than once. And compared to the other shaved ice I've had, I think red bean, the mango flavor was more consistent whereas the other flavor eventually became watered down ice. The desserts are good for sharing but they also have drinks if you aren't into that. Or just eat a bowl yourself, no one is judging. I just wish they weren't so expensive for my wallet. read more

First of all, I do think this is a pretty good place for dessert, however because there are so many shaved ice place in Dallas right now, I could only give it a 3 star. So they use traditional shaved ice instead of snow flake ice, which is a minors in my opinion. However, some people such as my mother prefer that. The mango was not processed right and it is very sour somehow, may be we just got a bad one. The portion is big. My understanding is this place used to be very popular in Taiwan but now a days kind of lost its popularity a little. Been to this store a few times before and really enjoyed the food and service. The waitress was very friendly and considerate. We ordered to go and she always separate the components and the shaved ice so we can still enjoy good texture/taste when we get home a few hours later. But the experience we had yesterday was horrible, not because of the food, but the service. The cashier was rude and didn't know what is customer service at all. The cashier was not welcoming to start with, we still paid 15% tips. Then we found that he didn't separate the shaved ice from the rest of the components. When we pointed out to him, he got very defensive and angry. If the owner can see this post, I seriously suggest you to find someone else. Went there for tofu w red bean. I've been coming here for years and used to be great. They did not have it hot even though it's winter time. They offered to microwave it. How sad! And the container was half full of tofu and red beans. Did I order half full?? Haha Customer service is horrible also. So refreshing! I stopped by to study and grab an icy treat on a hot summer day and I was not disappointed! There was easy parking and plenty of room to sit around 3pm, and I didn't even have to wait in line! Ordering was a little confusing, but you basically order up front and grab a buzzer, which will go off when your order is ready for you to pick up at the counter. Took a little longer than I thought to prepare my shaved ice, but when I picked it up, I realized why - it was a mountain of food art! My boyfriend and I ordered an Almond Pudding Shaved Ice per another yelper's recommendation and omg - GET THIS. It was almost too heavy for me to carry to my table since it's supposed to feed 3-4 sharing. The shaved ice was sitting on a bed of a super creamy, milky ice cream and was surrounded by a variety of mochi and puddings! The mochi was super chewy and added a subtle depth of flavor to the shaved ice, which was finely shaved and dissolved very easily in my mouth. We scarfed the whole thing down in minutes, so make sure to take your pics fast before your treat is gone! The atmosphere was really laid back and the music was conducive to chatting with friends or getting some work done. I even heard some "Despacito" and J Biebs in the mix. The line to order is a MESS. When you walk in, you are immediately crammed against all the other people in line. They attempt to make it a line instead of a crowd, but after 6 or so people, it isn't very obvious where to stand. After ordering, if you are picking up to-go, there is no clear area for waiting. Due to the vast amount of people who have been trying Meet Fresh lately, the place becomes over-packed and not a pleasant place to talk with friends. It is loud and busy, and the seats are close together and cramped. The servers are so busy taking and filling orders that they do not greet you with a smile. They are instead robotic which leaves a bad impression on me. I ordered a simple wintermelon tea on one occassion and had to wait for all of the larger dessert orders in front of me to be filled before getting my tea. I think they should improve the queuing process...Maybe have one person on drinks and others on desserts, so that drink orders do not get backed up by dessert orders? Anyway, not a fan of the general layout or experience. But the desserts are excellent! I tried the herbal jelly ice desserts, one with red bean and taro, and the other with the taro and sweet potato ball. They were both delicious. Since it's summer, my friend and I opted to get the almond pudding shaved ice between us. What a mistake ... this thing is MASSIVE. I believe you can probably share this with 3-4 people well, we were definitely challenging ourselves trying to finish this by ourselves. The ice itself was good! I thought it would be plain but had a good sweetness to it, as did all the other and elements. There's a scoop of ice cream on it, lots of different kind of rice cakes and two different puddings -- egg and almond. The reason why I docked some stars is that it actually took more than 30minutes from the time we ordered to when we received it. Definitely didn't expect such a long downtime without a warning about the wait. Came a third time to try their Almond Pudding Shaved Ice and it was DELICIOUS. Be warned: the shaved ice dishes are big enough to share between 3-4 people. My mouth quickly became numb but I couldn't stop eating because it was so good and refreshing. The shaved ice was covered with abundant amounts of condensed milk. It tasted a bit too sweet at first until we mixed the sweetened ice with the plain ice on the bottom.. then it was perfect. The toppings included almond pudding, egg pudding, small taro balls, Q mochi, noodle jelly, and a scoop of ice cream on top. Meet Fresh's shaved ice is the best shaved ice I've ever had. They are generous with their toppings, and I appreciated not having tons of ice at the end with no toppings to eat it with. The toppings were also fresh and tasty. Let me make this clear for everyone. I typically put the most weight in a restaurant's food when I evaluate how good it is. Now if the food is good, service is good, and atmosphere is good, then you have the perfect trifecta. In certain cases, I will tolerate the restaurant if the food is that good and the other 2 legs are terrible since I am a patient man. This is one of those scenarios. The best way to describe my feeling when walking up to the register is like the same feeling on a Sunday night before work. The dread just builds at an intense rate. You hate going to work to start another week, but you know you have to because you need the money, and in this case, you really crave Taiwanese shaved ice on a 95 degree day in Dallas. I don't know what it is with the lady behind the register, but she really has a stick up her ass. And maybe it's because my Chinese is spoken on an elementary level, but if I can make out what my 3 year old tells me, then she sure as hell should be able to understand what I am trying to say. Through a combination of broken Chinese and Charades, she always looks at me like I just got off the short bus. She has never smiled once and her eyes roll so hard back that it reminds me of the possessed girl from The Exorcist. With that said, there is no more good authentic Taiwanese shaved ice since the May's ice cream days from the Chinatown in Richardson. Yeah that's right. Love this Taiwanese dessert place. They have both cold and hot dessert. Their portion is enough to share, but if you want to indulge, you can totally finish one yourself . What I like most is that their dessert is not super sweet and you can substitute your add-ons. The add-ons are ranging from rice ball (pass this if you're not rice ball die hard - no flavor at all), barley, boba, mung bean, red bean, black bean, kidney bean, egg pudding, almond pudding, noodle jelly and melon jelly. Their menu is basically divided into 4 sections: taro ball, herbal jelly, tofu pudding and shaved ice. Except from the shaved ice, everything can be both served hot or cold. In my opinion, the taro ball should always be served cold while tofu pudding is best served hot. Herbal jelly is good no matter what you order and that's definitely my favorite. And did I mention herbal jelly is good for your health as well? One thing to be noted for newcomers is that people here expect you to know what to order so be prepared to receive eye-rolling if you are holding up the line. Love that I can get a taste of authentic Taiwanese shaved ice in Plano! This location is for the most part consistent with the Meet Fresh locations I've been to in Taiwan. The ingredients are the same and taste just as good, but the biggest difference is in the proportion of ingredients. We ordered the Taro Ball No. 5 and replaced the boba and kidney beans with grass jelly and red beans. I love the chewiness of the sticky rice balls and taro balls but they gave us way fewer toppings than shaved ice. It was almost as if they started by filling the bowl with the cheapest ingredient (ice) and added one little layer of toppings on it. It was also overpriced at $6.80 for one small bowl. I love coming here with my family and feeling transported back to Taiwan but I wish this Meet Fresh gave more bang for your buck! read more

Even though this place opened last week, the lines were kept short and went by quickly. Parking wasn't hard to find since we came on a Monday night. Since Blackballs closed down, MeetFresh is the only option for these grass jelly dessert. The quality of the food depends on the day, sometime it's really good and other time it's bland. They are forgetful. I paid extra for an extra creamer (which Blackballs give it to you for free btw) and they never give it to you. When you order Togo, sometime you trust that they are honest and give you exactly what you order. But it happens every time. One time they also give me my tea with no sugar at all despite telling them regular sugar and ice and it just taste like water. read more

My all time favorite dessert place in Texas. I live in OKC but always have to stop here when I'm in town. This is a Taiwanese dessert place. If you like Vietnamese che I think you would like meet fresh. It's dessert for people that don't like overly sweet things like traditional American desserts. We love the icy grass jelly bowls. The grass jelly is so herbal tasting and refreshing. Our favorite toppings include, taro balls, taro paste, melon jelly, red beans, mung beans, sesame balls just to make a few. YAY!!!!! I loooooved this place when I was in China and i was SO happy to see it opening here! PSA they're opening one in Houston soon too!! Just in time for summer, meet fresh is here to cool you down! If you're not familiar with Taiwanese desserts, the ingredients may seem super weird and foreign to you, but if you're feeling adventurous you definitely will not regret it. What i love about Meet Fresh is that the ingredients are lightly sweet and so refreshing, and you don't feel heavy/full afterwards. The sweet potato, Taro ball (more of a flavorless chewy glutinous dough dumpling), herbal jelly (melt in your mouth), and red kidney bean (grainy texture but very sweet) are probably the more foreign ingredients, but they all go great together. Most of these are served on a bed of shaved ice (looks alot like brown sugar initially lol) and you can add some creamer on top so it kind of tastes like a deconstructed drink. You can also get boba in there as well! They've also got some hot desserts too for when the weather cools down. This place has it all. As far as drinks go, make sure to try wintermelon tea if you haven't had it before! I would say one bowl of dessert is good to split with a friend or two. Plenty of seating indoors too! This location severely underwhelmed me. I have high expectations for Meet Fresh because I've been to many domestic locations. Unfortunately, this place STINKS - literally. The restroom smelled like garlic + unwashed armpit + excrement. It was abysmal. Even the main area didn't smell that great, but I'm not surprised based on the horrific restroom in the back. The grass jelly ice wasn't too great either. The price you pay is high, and as a customer, that's okay if the quality is high too. It looked like someone just dumped scoops of gelatin into a bowl and sold it for 8-9$. Hard pass. I'll only come back for a mango shaved ice, but only if they clean up their act. Granted the rest of the place is nice. It's updated, and the staff is friendly. But the negatives during my visit were difficult to overlook. read more

For the Taro Balls Dessert 1 (taro balls, green beans, pearls, lotus seeds on shaved ice), the first thing I noticed was that there were chunks in the shaved ice so that meant that some of the ice had no flavor, which was a huge disappointment. For the toppings, I didn't think any of them were that special. The unique taro balls are worth a try because they added a good smooth, chewy texture, but they lacked a strong taro taste. The boba was very standard, cooked well, but didn't appear to have any added sweet or honey taste. The good thing about the whole dessert was that it wasn't too sweet, and it was very refreshing with a good combination of textures.
