This was a nice bar with a good atmosphere and fairly reasonable drink prices for the area. Located close to Times Square and the theatre district in NYC, this is a good place to stop for a quick drink. We didn't order food, but they had pretty standard pub/bar fare. They had a surprising number of signature and home brewed beers, which you don't see often outside of breweries and tap houses. Megan's had a great tap list, with around 50 beers. My favorite that I tried was Meg's wheat beer, which was very light and refreshing. Overall, 16 oz pours were $8 and the flight was $14, which I would normally consider pretty pricey, but was a better price then most of the other bars in the area. Fat Hen chicken sandwich - chicken was perfect amount of crispy- well cooked, jalepeno slaw wasn't spicy at all. Crab Cakes - perfect bite size, crispy and tasted very very fresh. Even in the middle of December! Also just had a craving for pickles and the waiter was like 'of course I'll get you a plate of pickles' it was perfect. Chicken Tenders were chicken tenders. Came in with some friends and we ordered four drinks. They aren't crowded, but it still took 30 minutes to get our four drinks. 1. I ordered a vodka gimlet and asked for it to be just a splash of lime juice. The bartender didn't know what it was and tried to put grenadine instead of lime. Then he poured about half a glass of lime juice in it instead of a splash. 2. The food was fine. I order the veggie quinoa burger and it was good. The fries were also fine. The calamari was just ok. It came out covered in this green olive mash that made them a bit soggy. They should put the mash in a separate cup so the calamari stays crispy. How come the chef doesn't know this? The real issue I had was the service. Not a smile from our waiter. And then some lady asked if I was done; when I said yes she reached over me to grab the tray as I was drinking. Really? Go around me and pick it up. This is server 101 stuff. Then she took my friend's plate and he had to say he was not done. The guy who brought our food was nicer than the wait staff. I asked for mustard and he brought two kinds! We stopped in late and hungry, in search for some great late night food. I'm so happy and relieved we decided to walk into Megan's. Food was ridiculously good! Ordered a 2nd pretzel tray. Three huge pieces served with a pub mustard (slight hint of honey and brown sugar), cheese, and a chive butter (perfectly salty). I AM OBSSESSED! Try the super spicy Colman's mustard with that pretzel. The Greek Goddess salad with grilled shrimp was excellent. Haven't had a really good salad in so long. Leafy green mix with onions, olives, tomatoes, and feta. Feta vinaigrette dressing was unbelievably tangy and sweet. The shrimp (x5) was perfect. Taste homemade. Never had anything like it. After museum of all morning, we were hangry. The original plan to eat in Grand Central fell apart because COVID apparently took out most of the eating options (sad! Hope it rebounds soon!!), so we found ourselves wandering around helplessly, scrolling Yelp. Megan's caught my eye- mainly because it was less than a block away and had all red stars! Once we walked in the door, however, I knew it was kismet! We were immediately enveloped in warmth- both literal and metaphorical. On a chilly NYC day, Megan's was warm and cozy, an Irish pub from door to decor. We were greeted as friends, a casual hello and easy conversation as we were led to a table further in. The Irish hospitality was perfect- the best way to explain is that feeling of chatting with an old friend-- easy conversation, gentle teasing, shared laughter. Cider was ordered and we settled in to look at the menu. I had a "Big Meg" (burger with all the fixings) and fries- my daughter the "Gaelic Burger" (cheddar and Irish bacon!) Both we're excellent- cooked to order, fresh and flavorful. The food came out quickly, and we were checked on, but not bothered as we enjoyed comfortable conversation and good food. The only regret I had was at the end of the meal as we were finishing up our food and signing the check, a waiter walked by with a pizza....mmmmmmm...it looked ahhhmazing. I regret not looking at the menu past the burgers!! (They were great, but ohhh...that pizza looked great too!) As he left I saw blue moon on tap... anyway... food was ok, mini crab cakes were good but tartar sauce was missing, shepherd's pie was ok, short rib special was ok, kids liked the pepperoni pizza. Not once did the waiter come back to ask how our food was, but he did make it to the two tables on either side of us. When we got the check he already included 20% tip. Went here on a Friday night; it's one of the less expensive bars around the area. $6 for the house tap is pretty good. Inside is very nice for a somewhat classy feel. It was very comfortable as well; we sat on the upper level, which had its own bar. It was neither too crowded nor empty. The bartender was attentive and friendly as well. We sat at a nearby table, and he came over to ask if I wanted a refill, which was nice since I didn't have to go back to the bar to order. On an unrelated note, my friend lost her wallet here, and the staff went the extra mile and looked all around for it. When they couldn't find it, they wrote down my friend's number and said they would call if they found it. Throughout the whole experience, they seemed sympathetic and very considerate. Had an early dinner here on my recent trip to NYC, and was very much impressed. Menu is different, but it seemed like there was something for everyone. The food was delicious, fresh, hot, and priced right. Service was spot on, friendly, and attentive. I think I have an addiction to soft pretzel appetizers as it seems I order them everywhere, and the pretzels at this place are awesome. We were leaving around 5:30 and they place had filled up and was quite loud, so can get noisy. Oh the bathrooms are tiny, seriously I have never seen a bathroom so small! We were trying to find a place for a late bite after a Friday night play let out around 11:30. We headed toward Cock and Bull which is near Megan's and they had already closed the kitchen... So we kept walking down the street and happened upon this place that was open and still had food! Menu is surprisingly large, the waitstaff were super friendly and checked on us periodically to renew drinks and assist. We were sat at a high annoying bar table but after we got our drinks they moved us to a dining table that had cleared out which was nicer. My drink was great and was a blood orange cider of some sort. I ordered a fried chicken sandwich that was quite decent that came with shoestring fries that were well seasoned and tasty and hot. My sister ordered some other turkey sandwich that she very much liked and a side that was a gouda mac and cheese that we all ate. It was delicious and quite a large portion. My niece ordered the sweet option of wings and seemed to really like them. They were also a very large portion. Seems like a good place for a late dinner, is a little raucous because it's also a bar. My new favorite, most recommended bar in the midtown/Times Square area. Just opened about two months ago and I'm shocked there weren't other Yelpers all over this place. I luckily just stumbled in randomly, looking for a simple place with food and drinks before a concert. You walk in and it seems cramped at first but it really opens up in the back and there's an upstairs. They have so many beers on tap it's hard to choose, but most of all, they have a lot of their own brews in house! The food menu also offers so many great options, I have to come back to try more. I had The Gobbler and my boyfriend had one of their specials, a Cuban sandwich. Both were amazing and we licked our plates clean including fries. I hope the Cuban makes it to the actual menu because I'd love to order it for myself sometime, among other options I didn't get to yet. Service was great and I loved the vintage style photos placed all around the bar. They also have brunch so if anyone wants to check it out, I'm your girl! If you're looking for quality and don't have to worry about penny pinching this place is great - sports bar on the bottom floor and televisions upstairs too with tables to eat at. Great food and good atmosphere. After ordering the food came pretty quickly too. However, what keeps this from having a better review is the service. My waitress was clearly either in another place mentally or just hated her job. Her tone was dull, never came to our table initially, and throughout the lunch I had to continuously go to her to ask her for refills, the check, etc. Its not like she was busy either, she spent her time eating at the bar herself and even walked past our table to get more sauce for herself while we waited! Ohhhhhh hell yeah that was good! I ordered the fish and chips and couldn't have been happier. This is one of my favorite comfort dishes and I have ordered it everywhere I go. The Fish and Chips here are the best I have had in NYC. My guest had the Greek salad with shrimp and what she couldn't finish (but tried) I couldn't put down.
