I shop here every day. I honestly like the store. The cashier Eric who works early morning goes above and beyond what you would ever expect. He's super friendly and would rather engage with the customer than stare at you as you check out. But my big complaint is THE EMPLOYEES SMOKE CIGARETTES RIGHT OUTSIDE THE DOOR!!! I've made complaints to the manager and nothing gets done. I guess with the lower prices, they forget to mention cancer is included. Do something about this please!!! read more

This is usually not a bad store. However, this is not the first time I have been mislead by their sale signs. Well, I have had enough and the store manager needs to know that this is a misleading practice. Why in the world would you put up a sale sign and then put a non-sale item right underneath it. Then when I tell your associate at the checkout her reply is well "the sign says character panties and the other sign says fashion underwear." Well, then you have a whole rack of underwear under these signs that is not on sale. So, I'm expecting to pay $4 for underwear instead of $12.99. The only reason I can think of begind this is to pull one over on the consumer. If you had non-sale underwear on this rack then you should have had an equal sized sign that stated "$12.99". read more

This Meijer has a well lit parking lot, a minimal amount of deserted and abandoned cars, and an uber convenient gas station with really low gas prices for it's proximity to the 355 expansion. Ooh, and the androgynous gas station attendants :::think "It's Pat"::: are super cool and friendly and always call me darlin'. Wink, wink. read more

Where can I go to get my eyebrows threaded, pick up a gallon of milk, my prescriptions, a flat of perennials, a bike tire, head cheese, tropical fish and a ever so handy kayak? Why, Meijer of course! While smaller than it's sister location at the other end of town on Weber Road, this store is just plain massive. From food to sporting goods, you can be sure to find it here. The layout may be confusing and frustrating at first, but after a couple of trips you will navigate this place better than Sinbad on the Seven Seas. Prices are damned good as well. After forever boycotting Wal-Mart, and becoming disgusted with the poor produce and almost expired cold stuffs at Target, and the inflated prices at Jewel, I was running out of options for a one-stop shop. I could not be happier with Meijer. They have several levels of their own store brand, including organic top of the line, mid range regular, and dirt cheap Meijer Basic (ex: Fabric Softener $1.) And upon ringing out, the register will spit out some massive coupons for your next visit. Also, be sure to sign up for Mperks online. It's an online coupon service that's connected to your cell number. Lots of good deals to be found there! Service is usually pretty good and helpful, especially in the deli. They will sit there and profusely apologize for the wait, even though you may have to wait five minutes, top, no matter how busy. (Deli is good- but I wish they would have a bigger selection of non-mayo based deli salads.) Also, the produce quality is good, and very extensive. Ever in the mood for a veggie stir-fry, come here and you will be in veggie heaven! Another plus is the bulk options to buy on nuts, candies, and certain spices. I like Meijer and shop here weekly. They usually have some sort of meat on sale, their selection of produce is pretty good and the quality of it is decent, as well. The rest of the store is a bit overwhelming, but well organized and a fair selection of brands. Wow, what a nice place! We stopped in here for a quick bunch of groceries on the way back from some shopping Boilingbrook. So glad we did! Being from the Northeast I am still getting use to the style of these midwest superstores. But I have come to enjoy the Meijer chain stores. What I like about THIS Meijer: - Clean from the start to the finish of the shopping experience - Great selection in the seafood department (dungenous crab, catfish, lobster, etc.) - Reasonable prices -Large store with many home supplies as well as food choices -Easily accessible store and plenty of parking Not many gripes about this store but then again this is the first time I have visited this location. In the past 8 years of living in Illinois I've been to this particular Meijer many times. The thing about my trips to this one is they are pretty much always after 3 am and frequently booze fueled. I've always been able to find whatever I need and never really had anything to complain about. With the exception of drunkenly trying to purchase beer at 3 am on a Saturday, but I blame the state of Illinois not that particular law abiding cashier. On a very related note the cashiers here do not seem to be bribable so don't even waste your time. read more

So much better than that blue W place. The bakery is ample and has some nice choices if you're feeling like a fat kid. The deli could have more options for me. I didn't go to the butcher section so I have no clue. But they have a great ice cream selection. They even have my favorite, black cherry, which BTW is damn near impossible to find. Their foreign isle is awesome. There is so much there that I need to get and try and eat and I shouldn't be writing this review at lunch time. They also have all you pharmacy needs, cough drops, sinus meds, advil, lady business stuff you name it. And on top of that they sell a whole bunch of other crap you may or may not need. ie: electronics, bedding, paperware(this might not actually be a thing), clothes and much much more. I could not figure out what this store sold for the longest time. I kept passing them on the highways in the middle of nowhere. Big signs. Not very descriptive. I never see commercials or get fliers. I find this one near my work, and I decide to look up on the web. Still not very clear. Grocery store? K-mart clone? What? None of my friends knew either. And it's not like i can go look in a window. Heck, I didn't even know how to pronounce the name. Major? Mayor? Meyer? So I decide to go look for a bin to put kitty litter in as I see it driving by. The store is like a full supermarket and a full Target lumped together. I didn't find the size bin I wanted, but I did see some sassafras tea (safrole-free though) and it was cheap so I got it. Juice and pretzels were on sale too. And they had about 25 self-checkout lanes. I think i waited for 10 seconds. So I think atleast as a grocery store it's pretty decent. It's a little outof the way but if i need something on the way home, sure. And the name is pronounced 'my-er.' read more

This store has gone to total s&it!! They only keep one register open, forcing you to use self-checkout. On top of that, they close 6 of the 12. Yesterday afternoon there were 22 people in line at the self-checkout and the single line was 9 deep. When someone asked why not open more registers, was told people call in sick and they are NOT hiring more. The older woman behind the customer service desk is surly and snotty. Management needs to step it up. read more

I love this place. They don't have it by my house, so whenever I'm in Bolingbrook, I make an excuse as to why I definitely need something from there. I think I might be banned for verbally assaulting 2 of the employees this past weekend. I asked both for help, they couldn't find it and pretty much just walked away from me. Then they were verbally assaulted. However, you can find everything you want here for amazing prices. Don't use the self-checkouts. My first visit to Meijer was during my High School years while visiting a college in Michigan...before the days of chain stores where you could find EVERYTHING and do your grocery shopping at the same time. Apparently this is a big chain in Michigan and expanded to the Chicago suburbs some years ago. I do shop at this place regularly - especially if I need additional stuff along with my groceries like socks, shoes, shampoo, etc. One thing I suggest before shopping here, or if you're a frequent shopper here is to sign up with their M-Perks coupon program. For example, I saved $5 on my order of $50 or more last weekend while shopping on a Friday. The perk was good for Friday or Saturday shopping. I will mention that there are always a ton of 2 for $5 deals so let's just say those $5 add up and you'll spend just as much as you would at Super Target or Super Walmart...but this place is moderately priced, sometimes you can get some good deals here. And again, they really do have everything - crafting supplies, goldfish, electronics, purses, jewelry, seasonal/holiday stuff, and more... seriously, everything! read more

Who would've guessed Meijer caters to the gluten-free crowd? Not sure if all locations are as heavily-stocked as this one, but they carry a variety of Schar, King Arthur, Bob's Red Mill, Amy's, Van's, and Glutino GF products to name a few. Less of a surprise is that their prices are better than Whole Foods on many of the same items. I love the produce department here - great variety, lots of organic choices and decent prices. Be sure to watch the prices as you're checking out. More often than not, I find an item or two that ring up higher than they were marked on the shelf. read more

Meijer is somewhere between Super Target and Walmart. I shop consistently at Meijer for groceries because of the perks available. If you download the mPerks app, you can clip coupons and earn rewards for the groceries and items that you buy anyway. For example, if you spend $150 in a month, you earn $6 off your next purchase. If you're going to spend that money, may as well get a reward for it. Same goes for general merchandise, electronics, etc. Their prices on groceries are already very competitive. My only complaint would be the produce. If you go later in the day, especially over weekends, everything is picked over. On top of that, some items look moldy and need to be tossed. Definitely get here early or come during the week if you're looking to get produce. Otherwise, I'm at this Meijer at least 1-2 times a week. Such great deals! read more

I like that it's spacious and you can pretty much get anything there. The checkouts are well staffed so you don't have to wait, they will bag your groceries for you (one lady gave me a dirty look for bringing reusable bags...really?) It seems like things can be kind of picked over...a lot of times we'll look for something specific and the shelf is empty. Kind of hard to believe the item is that popular. The Mparks are good, but lately it seems like they've been "upping" the amount you need to spend to get the perks. We are spending probably $20-30 more per week than we did before our old grocery store closed. I don't know how prices compare to Jewel. I wouldn't say it's an amazing place to go, but I also don't hate my life going there like Wal Mart or some other places. read more

If you like Meijer, that's great - just don't shop at this one. I come here for the gas and nothing more. For one, I can't stand these huge stores. I'm not a fan of being forced to walk from one end of the store to the other just to pick up shampoo and a few groceries because some marketing execs try to tempt me to impulse buy what's on sale between the two points. But moreover, this particular Meijer is just a complete DIVE! Customer service? Clean bathrooms? Heck, a clean store, for that matter? Decent produce? Good prices? Not at this store. They're certainly not as expensive as Jewel, but you can find better quality and pricing virtually anywhere else, even Wal-Mart I don't understand why the people working the service deli, kitchen, or bakery have such a "Holier than thou" attitude about their work, but that's what you'll get here. Oh, and be prepared to wait 20 minutes to get anything from the deli - not because it's busy, but because it's just THAT slow. The only thing slower than the deli is the checkout! It's great that they have six self-checkouts - more than many stores - but it doesn't help when two are always out of commission, and there's only one person there to assist. There wouldn't be a line to use the self-checkouts if they'd open more than just two or three full-service lanes! Especially during the rush times! I still gave this location two stars, not just because I buy gas here but because I have been to other Meijer stores that are a 180 from this store. Bloomingdale and Rolling Meadows' stores ought to lead by example! read more

This place is literally around the corner from my house which is great bc I love Meijer. I usually go for the groceries but I must say their clothing is very cute! Youd think it would comparable to Walmart but its not. The downfall to this location is one very slooooow female cashier. Shes very sweet but I almost think shes daydreaming when she rings people up. I was the second person in line behind the people that were in process of checking out. It must have taken me 10 minutes to reach her. After I was In line for those 10 minutes her light went off as she was closing her lane but people were still coming to her line. She said with a smile "I need to go home." Its amazing how much faster someone rings you up when they wanna go home. She needs to always be that fast!! I will be on the lookout next time or just do the self check out next time. read more

I go to Meijer mainly because I don't want to deal with a packed Walmart. Unlike Walmart you have space to walk down the aisles, they have registers open, and even if busy it's a easy in and out. The prices are comparable to Walmart maybe a touch higher on certain things. Meijer has a excellent produce market they have a wide variety of produce that seems fresh. The part of Meijer I'm critical of is it's meat department. The prices are high and I've seen meat out that is beyond fresh and turning bad. I rarely purchase anything from the meat department and go elsewhere for meats. In the end Meijer is descent store with a few faults. Overall it's a good store to shop at and is a good alternative to Walmart's madness. read more

This place's customer service was all over the place. Went to buy a grill on Sunday, and you'd think I was trying to purchase an elephant. My poor cashier had no idea how to do it, she called the customer service desk, where the woman acted as though I were trying to steal her children. I then had to leave my groceries with the poor helpless cashier to "meet the guy in the garden center" despite the fact that I had the make, model number and UPC with me at the cash register. Once back in the garden center I met a very helpful old man who was going to try and load a grill onto a cart. Problem was, he appeared as though lifting a shoebox would break his back. Perhaps I'm wrong, and perhaps he's more than able-bodied, but he appeared way too frail for the task at hand. I immediately felt bad, being fairly strong myself. However I wasn't granted the right to move my own grill seeing as how this was apparently the first grill ever purchased at this particular establishment and they were making a big todo about things. So after checking the back stock area, the friendly old man realized they were out of the grill I wanted, but I could have the floor model. Wasn't interested, but wanted a raincheck. Unfortunately, this guy didn't have a clue as to how to get me one. That's when Chris, the electronics manager, made the mistake of walking by. I flagged him down and asked him if he could give me a raincheck. Chris knew his s*** because he took me back up to the customer service desk where Unfriendly McCrabbypants scowled at me while Chris got my raincheck, checked other stores and online to see if he could track down that grill for me. Chris definitely made the best out of the situation. Whatever he's doing should be used as a model for the rest of the employees, because a lot of them simply don't get it. read more

I have to agree with Michelle H. She had Target and Jewel pegged. Her comment about Meijer / Bolingbrook's deli caught my attention. It's not the biggest and yes, you have to wait sometimes, but if you end up getting served by "Kenny" then it will be worth the wait. The betta fish and other species of fish were not taken care of... the fish had rotted fins and were in horrible conditions water had not been changed or cleaned in who knows how long. There was dead fish decaying all over the tanks. They had not been fed for quite some time. They were forced to eat the mold growing in there tanks. This is neglect. Meijer has failed and I will make sure you are held accountable. These fish deserve more then 1/3 tank full of water and filth. You are horrible human beings. read more

Rude, rude, rude cashier(blonde female) at the gas station yesterday (6/22/18), 3 pumps gave me an error message after scanning my credit card. I tried 2 different cards to see if it was the card. I went inside to prepay for gas when the cashier told me I locked up the pump and I needed to go to another pump. I proceeded to another and then another pump(4-6), same error message. I went back inside with a customer in front of me at each register now the RUDE cashier says to the other cashier (P.Kumar), "she keeps locking up our pumps." I asked how I locked up the pumps, she said it was my card (I tried different cards). She continued to argue with me saying I should have come in....I'm confused now because I did go in and she told me to go out and try another pump. At this point the other cashier "resets the pump", I pay with the same card I tried outside and that simple after 15 minutes I have gotten gas. Customer service is just horrible these days! Companies don't care anymore how the customer is treated, it's all about the bottom $. I WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS MEIJER GAS STATION!!!!!! read more

I don't come here much. But it seems as though this place has lost a little of it's luster. I was pushing my cart down the main isle and there was an associate sitting on the floor rearanging some merchandise on a shelf. He had a cart in back of him positioned so the whole isle was blocked? No big deal. I guess he couldn't find a Walmart to work at! The prices seem to be in line with Jewel, but they pay Union wages and Meijer doesn't. So shouldn't they be cheaper here? I was in the produce department and the onions were a little slimmy. I had to pick thru the whole batch to find a couple of good one's. Should I have to do that? The red, yellow and orange peppers were as shriveled up as Betty White! The store was clean, but I'm not sleeping here! I used to shop at this Meijer for about 7 years. I moved away for 5, and now I'M BACK!!! I love that everything is still in the same spots and I didn't skip a beat jumping right back into shopping at this store. It is a HUGE store that carries a little bit of everything!. They also have the best prices in the area. They blow Walmart and Jewel away. Their gas sation is also top notch as far as prices go. Even with the mall and IKEA popping up on the other corners, they have managed to keep their prices grounded. The workers in the deli and bakery are always so helpful and will always offer you a sample of what they are going to get for you. The cashiers are always so helpful and pleasant. And if you forget to use your coupons, just take them up to the customer service desk and they will adjust it for you. I cannot say enough good things about this Meijer. read more

This place was a bit of an acquired taste for me - kinda messy with mostly unmotivated employees. However, after several visits, I have come to love this place, and now do my weekly shop there. First of all, their selection and pricing on organic goods is AMAZING! Seriously, they offer most all my grocery staples in organic form, and the prices are unexpectedly low (so much cheaper than whole foods). They also have a fantastic international foods aisle, and they are the only place that offers my favorite British staples in the suburbs. My only complaint is that they are slow to restock their shelves. I usually shop on Monday morning around 8:00 am, and their produce is almost always empty and picked-over. They have big pallets out for stocking throughout the aisles, but very few people working on it - it's kind of a mess. I often have to make mid-week stops to pick up items that weren't yet restocked on Monday morning. I think this could be easily remedied as they are a 24 hour establishment, and could easily hire a night crew to do stocking during non-peak hours (much like Target does). If you are a grocery snob or foody, and can look past the ambiance, you will love Meijer! I actually miss it while on vacation. :-) read more

Meijer is one of the best places to shop and get everything you need in one stop. Their prices are fair, they have great sales, and good clearance items. The meat when on sale has some of the best prices around, their fruits are priced competitively, but their pet items are higher than say Wal-Mart or Target, so it's best to not buy those there. Otherwise, I've gotten great discounts on shoes, food, toys, and electronics there, it's definitely one of my favorite places to shop, if only there were more of them around! read more

Outstanding customer service! The cap of a bottle of Barkeeper's Friend cleanser broke off when I grabbed it for the Self Scan check out, the whole bottle fell to the floor, sending all of the contents splashing out in a mess on the floor. I flagged down one of the customer service desk employees, who brought a roll of paper towels, got down on her hands and knees and started wiping it up. I reached out to her for the paper towels to do the clean up and she wouldn't give them to me! But she let me hold the grocery bag to dump the paper towels that were soaked with the cleaner when I offered to hold it. Then she got a maintainance worker there to mop up the floor, as it was real gooey. read more

"I Don't Wanna Be Here Anymore" Is usually the song I want to start singing by the time I get to the checkout lanes. Don't get me wrong, Meijer is pretty great when it comes to having everything you need. You can get groceries, clothes, medicine, gas, and your eyebrows threaded all in one trip. The prices are great-especially when you use Mperks (download the app on your smartphone!). What Meijer has in prices and selection, it lacks in service. It's hit or miss at the deli counter and the checkout lanes. Some days you will luck out and get in and out fast and end up talking to some personable workers. Other times you spend 20 minutes at the deli counter and 20 minutes just waiting to put your groceries on top of the running belt. Sometimes coupons are rung up correctly. Sometimes they are not. It's this uncertainty that has forced me to keep Meijer at a steady three stars. By the time I leave, I usually feel like I've ridden "The Line" and need a nap when I get home. But hey, at least my gas tank is full and my fridge is stocked. read more

I first learned about Meijer long before it came to us in Illinois. I have family in Michigan and it was tradition to stop at Meijer. Mostly it was because it was open 24 hours and had clean bathrooms. Now that I am a lot older, I see what my parents saw. A store with everything. I have bought clothes from Meijer, that I love. The produce is usually pretty good, the meat is great, and the prices are reasonable. What I have found here that I am most pleased about, is the crab cakes. I know, sounds odd but yes, crab cakes. Their seafood counter has frozen crab cakes for around a dollar a piece. They are some of the best I have ever had. The only thing upsetting is they don't always have them so if you do like them, stock up. read more
