Friendly faces and big savings (just skip the fruit!) I've been shopping at Meijer for years, and honestly, it's my go-to spot for almost everything. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the vibe--it's just pleasant. The employees here are genuinely friendly; whether it's the greeter at the door or the cashier chatting while scanning my items, everyone seems helpful and nice. It makes the weekly grocery run feel less like a chore. What really keeps me coming back, though, is their store brand selection. If you are sleeping on the "Meijer" or "Frederick's by Meijer" brands, you are missing out! I've swapped out so many big-name products for their versions, and I honestly can't taste the difference. Chips and snacks: Just as crunchy and flavorful as the national brands. Dairy: Their cheese and yogurt selection is massive and way cheaper. Pantry staples: Canned goods, pasta, and baking supplies are a fraction of the cost. My grocery bill has gone down significantly since I made the switch, and the quality is spot on. The one downside: I have to be real about the produce section, specifically the fruit. It's usually pretty hit-or-miss (mostly miss). The berries tend to go bad quickly, and I've had bad luck with apples being mealy. I usually grab my fruit elsewhere. The Verdict: If you just avoid the fruit section, this is easily a 5-star store. I have not been to this Kroger For so long, maybe 5 years or more. The only reason why I came here today is because they had a cider that I can't find anywhere else and I really wanted it. To my delight the store was super impressive this morning!! Clean, fully stocked and so many upgrades to the freezers and deli area looked great!!! I'm walking around thinking wow I need to start shopping here more often! Then I went to the self check out where Howard was working... what a worthless dude. He was so busy socializing and trying to hit on young girls in line he ignored me THREE times when I needed him to look at my ID, find the chicken with my bar to scan and for some reason at the end it needed him to come back and scan something else ?? Anyway , Howard made the once great experience , not so great!! He needs to focus on his job more and not trying to get a date with girls that looked like they could be his granddaughters. Dropped by here last second on Christmas Eve day after a closer store's card machines stopped working. I was incredibly impressed with how clean the store was. Items were organized in an easy to find way in spacious isles. I have always loved the item selection Meijer offers and this one is no different, and the prices were actually cheaper than the other store. I was also impressed with how they managed the Christmas Eve crowd. I waited only about 5 minutes in line, which really helped accommodate my rush! I will definitely be driving a little out of my way to return to this store for future grocery endeavors. read more

Disappointing quality, cleanliness and friendliness. I literally signed up for Walmart delivery, just so I wouldn't have to shop here. The workers really try their best, but everyone who shops here is SO rude. It's soul draining. I call it the portal to hell. The parking lot is disgusting and always filled with trash, masks, gloves, plastic bags, just blowing into my nearby yard every day. It also needs paved. The selection of foods is often limiting (bland) and organization of the store is bizarre, and changes without reason. The meat always looks sketch. Products are frequently sold out. The checkout lanes are never open. Its always self serve & half the machines are broken. 2 workers run around and get yelled at by customers and the lines get long. This store needs an intervention, maybe more investment in the community it serves. read more

Extremely disgusted by how I was treated by a cashier at this Meijer store. I am a young African-American male that went to check out today at a register tended to by a senior-aged caucasian lady. She asked me if I was having a party because of the amount of groceries I had. I responded that the groceries were for my household this week, as I have four children. When she read the total amount for the groceries, I pulled out my bank card to pay and she asks "don't you have any help with the kids"? I initially thought she meant help with managing all of the groceries, so I responded "usually, but my wife is out of town so I'm just doing the shopping alone today." She then says "Oh I see, so she has the WIC card? You should bring it next time." I was completely shocked, but thought I might have misheard her so I asked her to repeat herself. She then said "well don't you have WIC for you and your family?" The people behind me are just staring, and I politely replied that my income is far too high for WIC, and that I do not need it. I then pay for my groceries, and leave. Honesty, I was quite embarrassed by the whole ordeal, and felt as though I was profiled by the cashier as low-income because I am African-American with a large family. To qualify for WIC, I would need to be making about 10-15% below the federal poverty guidelines. There was no reason for the cashier to assume that about my financial status. Moreover, there was certainly no reason for her to verbalize that prejudicial assumption in front of other shoppers. I work hard to support my family and deeply resent being profiled in that way. I told my wife about it when I got home, and she was extremely upset as well. I will not shop at this store in the future, given that Kroger is right down the street. read more

Just moved here from AZ. Very clean store and helpful staff. Ordered delivery service for some things I'd forgotten to get at the store. The shopper left them on the porch and some items were missing. Called customer service and was given a courtesy coupon AND a free delivery. So, on my next order I figured I'd use my free grocery delivery option. My shopper, Diana, was AMAZING!! Texted me each time they were out of what I wanted, brought everything to the porch and let me know she was here. VERY pleasant experience by a gal who knows what Customer Service looks like! So far this Meijers is kind of amazing. Fruit and veggies section is much more lush and full of more variation. There's a huge deli section that I'm headed towards asap and I noticed there's an extensive selection of wines in aisle 7! This place has certainly come far since the almost 20 years ago I worked here( not at this location, just for the company but my location was the now closed Georgesville Road Meijers. I used to refuse to patronize it based on that but I'm glad my roomie brought me here. read more

A pretty standard Meijer: big, clean, bright, well-organized, and with reasonable prices. I didn't even know this one was here. Happened to be on this side of town and stopped in. I found almost everything I needed- kitchen and house stuff. They seemed to be out of road salt, not a big surprise but dang it, we all need it! I doubt I'll be over this way much, but it's nice to know it's here. I'd much rather go to Meijer than Walmart. Yes, they are both big chains, but the selection (of stuff I actually get) is better at Meijer, and the prices are about the same (though I do occasionally find the same thing for less at Walmart, it's usually just an inferior product for less.) And Sweetie refuses to go to some Walmarts, and I avoid them, because of the customers and staff. read more

At the end of the day, it's a big box 'we do everything ok, but nothing great' type of retailer. It's pretty clean inside, and has a wide range of items, but their downfall is that it seems there are NEVER enough people working the checkout lanes. You can ALWAYS count on waiting for at least one or two people to go through the lines. The place is certainly clean, and has an extensive produce section. You can almost always find some salads or other fresh fruits/veggies that are there as a "manager's special" where they're short on deadline and they need to get rid of it. If you could give a review zero stars I would. This store has steadily declined in the last few years. The store is dirty, disorganized and they do not have enough cashiers. The check out lines are back into the aisles. The unlimited self-check out lines are usually very slow and often one or two are malfunctioning or out of service. Sometimes skids of food are blocking the aisles waiting to be unpacked, you have to try and maneuver around them and other customers. The produce is (in some cases) rotten or too old to be for sale. Many items are out of stock and I still end up at another store. my experience last Saturday involved every complaint above (usually its just one or two issues per visit). I will no longer shop at this store. read more

I want to like this store because I pass by it on my commute. They barely ever have cashiers working when you need them most. Long lines and empty cashier lanes during peek hours. I now shop Kroger because they get it. Two stars because the selection of non-grocery items is excellent. read more

I grew up going to Meijers, even when Wal-Mart came around I still choose Meijers. The stuff is always friendly, store is always clean. And the selection in foods is awesome. My only complaint is that they stopped selling my coffee grounds from New Orleans here which blows. read more

My daughter worked at the location in Westerville a few years ago. Now my grandson works here. Not only do they pay fairly and treat their employees well, they have the freshest produce compared to any store in the Columbus, Ohio area. The prices are good, too! This store has gone down in the last year and a half so bad, so bad did I cringe when I have to walk in. I hate Kroger's because of the prices but I started going there recently, they have untrained new cashiers, with no supervision. Fascinating concept for us city-dwellers, where there'd be no way a store like this could ever exist due to sheer size alone. It's like an old Target and an old Kroger merged like Voltron's head and body, and *poof*, Meijer was formed. Came here to get fresh produce, booze, some suet, a dog collar, the 2011 Tiger Woods for Xbox360; and then played with 3 new models of Dyson bladeless fans. I wanted to spend hours more, just lingering in awe at what all was under one roof. Damn work pulled me away. If you're handicapped in any way, they offer electronic shopping carts you can ride in. (The fact that they stock those made me wonder why there are so many handicapped folks in town.) This store is great except the baking dept. no one is ever there and when there is someone they screw things up so badly my daughter didn't have a birthday cake because of them. I'll shop for my baking and caked goods elsewhere. The cashiers have no idea what they are doing either. They bag detergents with fresh foods. Cold stuff with box food. The issues with this store have existed for years and have nothing to do with COVID. This Meijer location is dirty, unorganized and have a revolving door of top management. I don't believe the local or corporate offices truly care about the physical condition of the store building or grounds around the store. In the summer, the store is very warm. Once you put your refrigerated or frozen foods in the cart you better run for the register so your items don't spoil. Make sure you check the expiration dates on all items you purchase, there are many items on the shelf that are expired. I watched a package of dog food that was expired for a year sit on the shelf for another whole year. I believe it still might be on the shelf! If you are looking for a well stock store, this is not the store to visit. Weeks can go by without common items being on the shelf. The parking lot of the building had large potholes for years, they final fixed a portion of the parking lot, but have left the front access area unfixed with potholes. I have addressed these issues with the store management many times with very little action and a lot of excuses. I have shopped at other Meijer stores and they don't share this full range of issues, so either corporate management doesn't care about is store or the local management is just poor. This is my local Meijer and I would love to be able to have a decent shopping experience but that hasn't happened in years. read more

The set up of the parking lot almost demands that you get hit by a car, and furthermore I cannot stand any grocery establishment where the first thing that you walk past are the crappy smelling bathrooms. Meijer is a large, clean, & recently remodeled store. It sells everything from grocery items to clothes. I've only ever shopped here for grocery items, though. Their produce department is terrific. It always has great looking fresh produce, as well as unique items you don't see everywhere else. I'm a "foodie" and always want to try new recipes I see prepared on television. When there's a hard-to-find ingredient on the list, I always know Meijer will have it in stock. I've never been disappointed and have quite frequently been surprised with the depth of choice. From baking, to fresh fish, to wine they have all the bases covered. read more

Meijer is a nice regional chain. This one is clean, pretty well stocked and has better than average service. The only thing I don't buy here is meat, because they don't rotate their product. Dairy is getting that way too. I've found lots of expired product on the shelves. They are starting to carry more grown in the US produce, which is awesome. It's okay, moved here back in 2002 and back then I would have given them 5 stars. Over the last 5 years or so they seems to be declining. Customer service isn't as good, they never seem to be well stocked on groceries lately, always seem to be out of stock of multiple things when I got major grocery shopping. Although meijer is a great place to shop at I have to say that that type of management they run is unacceptable. Meijer workers pay union fees (for in my opinion is rediculous based on part of what I need to say) to part of a union. You are a part of a union working there (sounds great but DONT DO IT) everyone always tells you it's so great to be a part of a union but when this togetherness and support for your job isnt there when you need it. It's there for fundraisers and parades (idk) but when a person is wrongfully fired and it's just alright with the job its NOT. A story not mine to tell ended up with a great worker ( a union stuard, a member of the safety team, an all around helper of the store) being fired and it's not right. There was No paperwork done, there was a one sided "investigation" done where people in your "team" go from saying one thing to another without her there to hear nor tell her side of what happened. Managers get to speak their mind with no care or fear of any type of consequence. They can act and play around as they please. This Meijer is alright. It's what you would expect from a Meijer although the produce at this one is not overly impressive like some of the other Meijers I've been in before. It's a lot nicer than the one that used to be on Brice Rd. and they have the same large selection of everything you could want. I'll take this place over Wal-Mart any day of the week but if I had my choice I'd still go to Target before coming here. The big positive about Meijers is that their food prices are really quite low and competitive with a place like Wal-Mart so if you're on a budget this is definitely the place to shop. Generally, it's not as crowed as Wal-Mart which is a big plus in my book as well. read more

I like the store but customer service can suck. I wanted to purchase a container of lettuce but it expired the next day. Instead of marking the price down (like they should for items that expire very soon) they refused...saying they would only mark it down tonight. THE DAY IT EXPIRES!!!! The manager said this! I wanted to walk out and leave everything there but it's New Year's Eve and shopping at another store would take another 2hrs! So I'm leaving Meijer with a bad taste....next time I'll go to Kroger. Very clean and open layout making it better than my Meijer close to my house. I like this place as it is easy to find everything and the meat seems to be kept cold. They also hire numerous local students helping them pick up a work ethic. It is better than Wal Mart and either of the two closest Krogers. read more

The Reynoldsburg Ohio store is incredibly hot. Customers and employees alike are commenting on how hot it is. Every time I go in there, I have to get out as soon as I can. I don't browse because it's so uncomfortable. I don't know if the managers are trying to keep costs down by making people sick or what but I will be shopping someplace else during these summer months. read more

I came in on a late Saturday afternoon to Simply get some hot wings and a energy drink that only they carry. It was a late lunch and I just wanted to be a couple items. There were four employees behind the deli counter and 6 people waiting to be helped. Only one employee was doing any helping, and as soon as she finished with the customer she was working with she took her apron off and left. With all those customers just standing there and three other employees not doing anything to help them. Additionally there massive self checkout shoots that pile up groceries after you ring them up so that you have to do to completely separate actions before leaving make Meijer in general incredibly inefficient. But standing and waiting for 10 minutes watching employees talking amongst each other and doing nothing only to have the one employee that was working walk away was just too much. I'll never go that Meijer again. read more
