I love this Meineke shop. I always take my Silver 2009 Honda Accord here when needed and Frank is just awesome. They have earned my trust because they have proven to be honest. If there are no repairs needed they tell me that and have never tried to sell me on parts that are not really needed at that time. They also tell me when repairs are needed and they have fair prices. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews posted here. I have been going to this location for years. Everyone's experience is different, but mines has been great. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I recently had my car checked because of steering issues and was told there was a hole in the steering pump. I paid $600 to get it fixed. However, after the repair, I was informed that the hose and rack were also leaking, and fixing them would cost an additional $1,500. The shop claimed this was a process of elimination and that they couldn't fully diagnose the problem until the pump was fixed. The mechanic kept this expert knowledge to himself, leading me to believe that fixing the pump would be the absolute solution. This lack of transparency seems to have been for personal gain, stringing me along for a costly ride. Now, knowing the full extent of the costs, I can't afford the $1,500 repair, and the $600 spent on the pump feels wasted. This situation has left me with no choice but to get rid of my car. I urge other customers to beware, as this mechanic may withhold crucial information and lead you into a series of expensive repairs. Better transparency and communication about potential additional issues would have been greatly appreciated. read more

Absolutely terrible shop. I went here to get my catalytic converter replaced. They charged me $550 for parts & labor for the cheapest aftermarket cat & a 30min job. From further inspection I noticed the catalytic converter was welded on backwards & they refused to give me a receipt since, "they have it on file", & "it would be more to get it with the receipt". read more

BOSTON RD, BRONX Very disappointed...I took my car to fix the AC, they charged me almost $300 just to add air fluid and the next day I didn't have air conditioning. When I returned to complain they told me that I had to pay another $300 because it was not a guarantee if what they did does not work, that if they touched my vehicle I would have to pay again... I took my car to another shop, in 10 minutes they told me that the AC compressor was broken; The part cost me $150 plus the labor, which was $80. everything solved. I hope that young millennials don't go to this business, imagine that someone who only earns $600 before taxes has to pay $300 for nothing. read more

Not sure where all the negative reviews came from, especially regarding Frank. But of course, people only leave reviews when they want to complain. I don't believe HALF of the negative reviews left. Frank, the manager, has proven to be an incredibly hard working and reliable mechanic who I will only trust my car with. I know he will never rip me off and only gives me fair and reasonable pricing. I've been going to this location exclusively for years because i know I can trust that I'm in good hands. This is a no-frills kind of location, which is why I only gave it four stars, but you're getting reliable service - it's not a spa. reusing parts/ misplaced parts i have came at least a handful of times for my brakes in a matter of 2 years and a few months. came in to replace my brakes. after a year a few months and 9,000 miles on the brakes, they needed to be replaced again. which i did for the second time at the same location. both resulting in over $600 each time. i have now gone at least 3 times for my second brakes as they continue to make noise as if never changed. on one visit i was told they had put a piece wrong. still right after that issue being "fixed", they cant figure out nor can hear the noises. my right brakes was not replaced with a new one i payed for. it is used!!! same goes for the filters which i payed for both times to be replaced. read more

I wish I had seen these reviews before. This has to be the worst auto shop I've ever been to. Listen to everyone here, do NOT go here. They tamper with your car so that you can keep coming back. I have proof. For example, I went to them to fix an issue I had in a 2005 Jetta. It wouldn't start properly. The guy at the desk (Frank) told me it was an engine coil, and that I had to put a new mount in the car since the engine was shaking and ended up ripping my catalytic converter in half. Okay, seems legit, right? Well after spending nearly $2000 on that repair, two weeks in my car would give me the same starting issue again. Also, my uncle (also a mechanic) checked the car afterwards, and the screws for the engine mounts were loose. He tightened them for me, but seriously? Who does that. Another instance is when I went to them for a simple brake swap. I bought the brakes from advance Auto parts and they assured me they were the correct brakes for my car. For a job that they promised would take about an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours, it took them SIX hours to finish the job. Mind you I brought my own brakes. They didn't have to wait for the guy to bring them. Even worse, the mechanic who did the job (some short old skinny black man with glasses) got an attitude with me because I asked why my card sensor is still telling me to change the brakes. He told me that there was no sensor to put it in and that he cut the sensor off the new brake, and I knew the brakes had a sensor because it said so on the box. But he got aggravated and just walked away. The gentleman Frank came out and said the same, that he checked and there's no where to plug the sensor. Yeah, right. Seems the mechanic doesn't know anything. He should've brought it to my attention BEFORE he went about cutting the brakes' sensor off. Now for the icing on the cake. They told me to drive around because I needed an inspection and they said they fixed the issue I had (a faulty coolant sensor) but they had to be sure the light wouldn't come on. I drove around and my car was making VERY loud noises from the front driver side wheel. Sure enough my light came back on. The next day I was driving to them when I noticed my car wasn't driving properly. I stepped out to find that all but one of the lug nuts of my front passenger side tire came out. Are you kidding me? This is no coincidence that the screws were loose in an attempt to have my car crash as they previously did this with my engine mounts. I called them and they sent the same old mechanic and another gentleman to help me. The old guy, once again gave me an attitude about the wheel, saying "it happens". That's no excuse. You cannot say that lugs coming loose just happens after coming to a shop. Mind you, with all these visits I had my 9 month old son with me. How could they risk not only my life, but his life like this? Horrible. Upon reaching meineke, Frank once again put the check engine light machine into my car to see the error code. But why did they have the hood of my car up? I had nothing in there needing to be checked. I asked Frank and he said, I don't know, the mechanic wanted to check something. Of course he did. He found another sensor needed to be "fixed", an O2 sensor. So stupidly I got it fixed. They told me to drive it around again and so I did. Not even 6 miles passed and I got ANOTHER check engine light. I also heard weird noises from my engine so I checked my oil and it was drained of all oil. I knew it was drained because my uncle and I had JUST changed the oil not even 2 months prior to me visiting meineke for the brakes. Unbelievable. Pretty sure I got ripped off today. We came in because our car failed inspection due to the check engine light being on and we wanted to know what was causing it. They diagnosed it was a sensor, a cheap part. The owner made sure to tell us what an inconvenience we were coming at 330 on at Saturday. When the work was "being done" I could not find our car. I circled the lot twice. I never saw our car in the garage. I did see some guy reset our computer right before we left. $200 later, we drove off and the engine light popped back on.... as if no one replaced anything at all... hmmmmm... oh, and no one put the old part in the car like at other places I've been- so yeah, no proof it was ever replaced. I am about 99% sure that place just charged us $210 to reset our cars computer. Im guessing this place operates like many of these shady places operates. Deals for young, single, pretty girls and those that know them. Everyone else's wallet is fair game. This is literally the only time I didn't check reviews ahead and look what happens. I am more than happy to take this review down if the company refunds my money or provides the missing part they "replaced." read more

I came with my boyfriend to have the brake pads replaced . The job usually takes about a hour . The guy at the front frank seemed like a nice guy and told us he would call us when everything was done . He informed us that it would take 2 hours . This was at 2:30. We left and came back at around 4pm . We came inside of the HOT small office with seating and sat . We then asked at around 4:30 if it was complete. He then proceed to say lemme go check and left . Frank came back inside and left again on five different occasions after that . He took care of two customers in that time period . He has yet to inform use on when it would be done. My boyfriend went to find his care and the staff was just sitting around . It wasn't until he was watching that the staff started to work ! Overall this is a horrible location . I am very upset with not only the service but also the work. I went to this locate first to check a noise I was hearing when I went over potholes. I was told my engine needed to be mounted. ($600.) work. I decide to take the truck to another spot, which that is when I was told it was my Sway bar links. So I changed it now the noise is not there. Now what if I spent $600. I'm surprised this place has such bad reviews. I've been coming here for a while and had done so quite frequently last year, as well as the year before. I have a Volkswagen and it's such a pain in the ass having to repair. Every time I come here Mike (I believe that's his name) has always taken really good care of me. They're honest and saved me tons of money in needless repairs (aka going to the VW dealer down the block from them). I actually moved way across town, but will still go to them for help. I knocked off one star because their mechanics are a bit funny- at least this has been my experience the last two times I went. Particularly the last time- whoever was fixing my car not only smoked inside of it but used my dashboard as an ash tray and didn't even clean it up. read more

Made an appointment here for an oil change because of the less than 24hr option which is Mavis doesn't have. The man got my information and put me down for an oil change. Based on the information provided on the Meineke website, the oil change should have been $19.95. However,when I was about to pay my bill , they had put me down for a $34.95 oil change which included a tire rotation , fluid top up etc which could have been a good deal if I hadn't just pass a NY state inspection a week ago. So, I had to redirect the manager to the $19.95 oil change I had requested. I think the manager could use a little bit more charm when interacting with their customer . read more

Frank, who I think is the owner or some kind of management continuously tried to get me to let them take the job after I declined. They don't show you the issue, they just want you to take their word for it. Horrible establishment. Is it by appointment, or is it by first-come, first-serve? It's neither. I made an appointment for 9:30AM. Came in and there were other cars there. The cars that were there first (despite not having an appointment), went in before me, which is fine. I've been here twice in a year with my 2006 Hyundai Tucson. My first visit was for my inspection sticker and brakes. Frank was honest about my brakes and only replaced what was necessary and did not try to overcharge me. My next visit was because I had a check engine light come on and then go out after about a week. I'm not a mechanic but I looked up the code associated with the check engine light and assumed the spark plugs had to be changed on my 10 year old car. I told Frank to change my sparkplugs and do an oil change on my car and left to get coffee. Frank called me back and told me my sparkplugs didn't need to be changed and suggested a tuneup instead, which included the oil change. I like that he did not try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge on cars and just charge me to change the sparkplugs. His honesty on two occasions means that I will keep bring my car to him when needed. I couldn't give five stars yet, but if they keep up the GREAT work and trust, then I'll post another review to give them the praise due. read more

My check engine light was on for a while so I didn't drive my car for a few months so inspection is expired. So I decided to use this place as a few years earlier they did my state inspection. Well 1st visit charged me $490 cause... couldn't pass inspection without buying 4 new tires (could only afford 2).. paid for a failed inspection received 10 day temp inspection sticker or something or another...needed a new battery.. was told to come back in a few days to re inspect the car... came back 2 days later (Friday after Thanksgiving).. problem fixed $200.. man wanted me to drive around a few days to make sure it was ok and then re inspect the car again to pass inspection.. at this point FIX THE CAR NO MORE INSPECTIONS... done deal.... after 4 months of driving car shuts off engine stops when I turn car on.. took it to them... need tie rods for a noise $400 no mention of engine stopping they told me they see no problem.. ok paid for that... driving upstate my steering wheel was not straight called them and had to bring car in again because they didn't align it... did that... now 3 weeks later...I have brakes problems... also all my warning lights are on...I WONT BE USING THEM... I should sue them for messing with my car... no way I had all these problems until they touched that car.. read more
