I've ordered catering here several times for big family gatherings and it's been great! The food is good and everything was presented nicely and they even packaged sauces for us separately. I love that they offer sushi in addition to Chinese food, so that's one less stop to pick up food when trying to cater to everyone! I haven't dined in yet, but the dining room looks nice. Staff has been fantastic and friendly in helping me with my orders!

Meiwah did an amazing job hosting our wedding reception, many thanks to the countless staff members who worked so hard on event day as well as the days leading up to it. Special thanks to Sally L, who was in charge and our point of contact. She updated us throughout the planning and was transparent about restaurant policies. Almost a year prior we were shopping for restaurants in the DMV area that offer Chinese-style banquets. We stopped by for lunch and were impressed by staff professionalism, good food (plus presentation) and beautiful decor. We expressed interest and were shown the private party room and prelim prices. Sally followed up with us via phone with additional info. Several weeks later we decided to book with Meiwah (the wedding date was still available). In the months following, they worked with us regarding menu (crafting a veganized version for certain tables), decor, parking, cocktail hour, and alcohol orders, ect. When things changed they adapted and accommodated. The restaurant also went through a renovation during that time and finished well before the wedding. The patio and dining room looked very modern, elegant and well lit. On reception day we were welcomed to a festive private party, where the usual white linens were swapped out for red and gold tablecloths/napkins. They added red roses for each table centerpiece, table assignments, and arranged our party favors perfectly. They threw in extras (sesame balls, cut up fruit, chocolates, almond cookies). More importantly each course in the banquet meal was excellent. The guests complimented and praised the food (Peking duck, lobster Cantonese, seafood soup, flounder, ect). Staff service was seamless (each course came out perfectly timed, plates and utensils were cleared in a timely manner, ect). Sally was present to tend to guest needs as well as help staff. Many thanks for making our wedding day such a memorable one, as well as going above and beyond to make sure everything needed was catered to.

The food was good, the service is prompt. The place looks nice. They have a parking garage.

The food was very cold. My waiter microwaved it and returned it to us, but it was still the same as before.

Discovered this place during the pandemic and been a customer since. My fav is beef & broccoli. It has a sauce that's nicely savory, which is what I'm looking for. I can vouch for the wonton soup; it's one of the better ones that I've had in the DMV. The seafood soup is interesting, with shrimp, scallop and crab. I've only done take-out. It's a bit of an effort to get to the take-out area, located on the second floor in the back of the building, up a flight of bleak stairs. On my first visit, I thought I was in the wrong spot. Meiwah is competitively priced and reliable.

Ordered takeout from here because I had a bottle of wine at home I wanted to drink. I grew up in DC and was a customer of the owner's previous restaurant, City Lights of China. Ordered the General Tso's chicken, pork fried rice, spare ribs, shrimp/pork dumplings and whole fried fish. The whole fried fish and spare ribs were great. We weren't expecting a snapper as the fish so it was a nice surprise. Everything was super fresh and tasty and up to par with New York Chinese food. Quick service since the food was ready about 20 minutes after ordering on the phone.

We ate family style and ordered the scallion…read morepancakes, the spicy sesame paste tofu, the spicy oil wonton pork, the chive and pork dumplings and the sesame balls (filled with red bean paste). Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

None of us were from this area, and we intended to go to the Mayflower Chinese Restaurant, based on Yelp reviews. However, once we walked in the door, it was apparent this place was focused on carryout, and there was no way we were staying to eat in their dingy entrance area. We walked next door to the Meleket Ethiopian restaurant. However, the place was deserted, and we didn't stay there either. We tried the Lime & Cilantro, the next place down, but it was packed and couldn't handle our group. So, we skipped past the verernary clinic and went to Spring Garden. And, what a great choice that was. They offer a huge menu of Chinese, Thai, and Japanese meals. Everything is reasonably priced. Once we got our food, we were impressed with the quality and portion sizes. And, through it all, the service was prompt and friendly. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location. Spring Garden is a great place to grab some tasty, reasonably priced food, either to eat in or take away.
