Hu tieu with clear noodles (assembled delivery order at home)

Ordered from here via a food delivery app. Got the bun bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup), hu tieu with clear noodles (combo meats noodle soup), bun rieu (tomato crab flavor noodle soup) and pho dac biet (combo beef pho with multiple cuts of beef and meatballs). The delivery order came with a big bag of herb garnish (thai basil, mung bean sprouts, sliced cabbage, lime wedges, cilantro, culantro, rau ram, and mint) as well as some hoisin and sriracha sauce packets for the variety of noodle soups that we ordered. Taste overall was fair and pricing was affordable/reasonable. Preferred dishes from that selection were the bun rieu and hu tieu.

Outside dining and they have a huge place for inside dining as well.

Mt friend recommended this place we tried a variety of pho and some rice plates I was satisfied with my chicken flavored pho. The broth had a sweet gang to it. The shrimp pho had large portions and a hefty amount of shrimp. The shrimp and beef had about 3 pieces of shrimp and several thin slices of beef .. the item I did not expect to enjoy was the filet mignon.. Filet Mignon was served with rice and vegetables the pieces were cut into small bite size pieces which I appreciated. We received all the typical toppings for our pho . Bean sprout cilantro lime and the sauces I would eat here again

It was Pho! Nominal!! Brought me back to my childhood soups... teardrop! Awesome chicken wings!!! The staff are attentive and nice. Loved the food! Drinks were good. Very little ambiance A little parking lot with a lot of dining spaces inside and outside! The outdoors are right next to street, so loud vehicles and such. No music, but there are lights at night! Nice place! They do pickup! I'll be back!!!

Haven't had a chance to try out the other Vietnamese restaurants in Oakland's Little Saigon but I started with this one for its indoor seating (a lot of Asian spots are still to go only) and affordable prices (as listed here on Yelp). Of course, the menu prices have since increased about $3 per item (so $13.95 to $16.95) but surprisingly their fruit smoothies and Thai ice teas are still $5 each (great price IMO). Keep in mind that the fruit "smoothie" is more like a fruit slushie. Or just boba slushie. The portions here were great. The staff was kind enough. We had plenty of leftovers and we were satisfied with the taste. Some places have very special soups and here we have the standard pho taste that our family is accustomed to. Atmosphere wise it has indoor and "garden" seating, but it does look run down. There's enough space for a party though, which I imagine would've been a plus in its glory days. Now, although the restaurant does serve beer, they also close at 8pm so I'm not sure if the drinks are for day drinking or what lol Overall I'll be checking out other spots in the area to compare and contrast but was satisfied with this Mekong.

Food: 6/10 Service: I did takeout, there is out door seating available but be careful Portion: small- medium (I'm a petite person but can eat an x-large) Value: 7/10 I usually love this place! Its normally my go to spot of pho. I get the pho tai and my hubby gets the pho combo (pho dac biet). I believe they changed chefs. The broth of the pho was not as flavorful. I didn't get as much meat as I normally do either esp since we both order the x-large size. There was also a lot of peollw there, so give it a try and see for yourself! Just be careful with covid. There were people who came inside without wearing a mask and none of the workers said anything. The staff wore masks but all of them did not have it covering there noses.... I'm also a 4'9" person and usually I struggle to finish my x-large but this time I finished easily. I will try this place again when covid is over because maybe it was just because I did to go?

I've passed by Mekong hundreds of times driving down 8th and 12th. Just from a glance it looks like an old school drive-in burger joint with all the parking out front. But surprisingly when I walked in the restaurant for the first time today, it's a decent sized diner inside. At least 25 tables, some large for bigger parties, as well as small ones for groups of four. The menu is a little more extensive than other pho joints in the area. At Mekong they offer a beef stew, fried chicken, and other options I don't see everywhere. My wife liked that they also have beer available as well. Prices are all fairly reasonable. Since it was our first time coming we ordered the basics: Imperial rolls: these little fried tubes of joy were average. It's kind of a mandatory thing to order when coming to a pho restaurant. Kind of like how French fries are mandatory when ordering food at McDonalds. Steak and Flank Pho: My wife thinks this is one of the better Pho bowls she's ever had. She loved the broth without anything added. I also thought the broth was very good but the Sriracha looked cold and lonely in the corner of the table, like an orphaned child. So I added some, just so the sriracha felt needed and appreciated. Sriracha has feelings too... Pork and Shrimp Vermicelli: this was on par with everywhere else. I guess it's a hard dish to mess up but also a hard dish to make stand out from the others. Pour some fish sauce on cold noodles and it's basically gonna taste the same across the board. Food and service was excellent. Food came out extremely fast so it's a great place if you are hungry. Mekong will be a regular spot for me to eat now.

Went to Pho Mekong restaurant for the first time tonight. My daughter has been there many times and said they had good noodle soup. Got there at 6:30pm on a Friday night and they had patrons, but still plenty of open tables. The place is long and feels like it used to be a diner. It makes it easy that they have a decent sized parking lot in front. I ordered the beef noodle soup and hubby had #55 pork chop with chicken wings. Since we're both watching our carb intake, he asked if he could substitute the rice with more veggies. They were kind to oblige and filled his plate with salad. My beef noodle soup was good, had a lot of flavor, and I liked how tender the meat was. The carrots in the soup were tasty. The soup was a little on the oily side but you can taste the flavor and know that it had been cooked for some time. Hubby thought his pork chop was very tasty, and he had a good portion. This is a small family style restaurant that is great for a quick, fulfilling and tasty meal.

FOOD: I can only rate this place for their rice plates! Definitely big portions. More meat than most of its competitor restaurants nearby! I got the Com Tam thit nuong, and It was really delicious. Different flavor from Ao sens, but both tastes delicious. This place's rice plates are hands down better than Kevin Noodle House down the street though. The thit nuong at KNH is extremely burnt, but the rice plate here is good! SERVICE: Your average asian restaurant service! Not much interaction, but that's typical. PARKING: There is a parking lot, fairly small but theres always parking nearby! read more

Since Kevin noodle has shut down I haven't had any good pho lately so one day I wanted some pho so i stopped by this place with my mom and we have lunch the place was empty when we went in the it was only 2 workers one in the front and on just sitting down. This is my go-to pho restaurant! I've been going to this restaurant for a couple years now and it never disappoints. The food is delicious, filling, and less expensive compared to other Vietnamese restaurants that I've been to. I ordered #57 with an egg and it was delicious!! read more

New ownership, new restaurant name...same menu as the old Pho Oakland. The food tastes the same, and the same worker from Pho Oakland that works in the kitchen, and brings out the food is still there. Prices are still the same, and very affordable. read more

This place use to be pho oakland. I must admit, the new owner really made a big difference! The soup isn't the same anymore. I usually get the pho noodle soup and when I came here it completely disappointed me. It's less of everything compared to pho oakland. Their beef ball tasted so odd that I had food poisoning right after I got home. Stick with Kevin noodle house for now. read more

Just ordered over the phone for two orders of Vermicelli with pork, shrimps, and egg rolls. They charged me $27 for them. Wow really??? Vietnamese food in Oakland? There were only two customers in this restaurant. One of them was me! I know Time is tough but don't take it out me, my vietnamese people! So I finally delivered the food to my parents. Honestly, I thought the food might be legit. Both my momma and my daddy said it tasted like SHIT. Okay that was before they found out I paid $27 for them. Yes, I got bitched at by my mom after the fact. That's why I'm writing this review. Haha This place is terrible.. Don't waste your time coming here. Panda Express is even better than this place. Good stuffs!! Getting my windshield fixed across street so have 90 mins to kill and perfect totem for lunch, then this pho place is across street, greet by an older lady and ordered my food and drink, had #8 and orange juice fresh squeezed it was really good! The pho broth taste great and not too greasy at all, the side veggie comes very clean and option with to go chop sticks are good if you worry how they clean it, overall a solid pho place and will come back again !! read more

The worst experience that we've ever have at a Vietnamese restaurant. The waitress got our order wrong and claimed that they were too busy. The bus boy was even worse. He was yelling at us when we asked if we can get our order switched. His reason " I don't know anything, I just bring up whatever the kitchen put on your table". It was our first time here and for sure never again! DO NOT COME HERE! read more

Tried beef stew with ho fun today. Got the XL cause I'm a . Pretty damn good. Mix of fatty and lean pieces and tendons. Flavorful and plentiful. Think it's about 9ish bucks with tax. Can go wrong with hit soup and noodles. Becoming my go to for beef soup... read more

Their bun bo hue has lots of flavors. Really good and they give so much meats. I could barely finish it. Caution with the broth because it is piping hot. The shredded pork, shrimp, and shrimp cake over rice is so good. If i ever crave rice plates then i would go back there. read more

I stopped in here for lunch when I was getting a window repaired across the street. I have to say the service was good, they took my order fast and brought out a drink, and even my food came out fast. They made sure I had all the available sauces, etc. on my table. Now, I am no expert on pho, but I thought it was very good! read more

The food was good the service was not good. We had a party of 5. They gave us only 4 waters. We ordered a large bowl and they only gave us two extra bowls. We asked for 3 more so we could all split. The server only brought one more bowl. We needed an additional 2 more. Therefore I had to send my son to get the other two. They forgot one dish that we ordered luckily, it was removed from the bill. This is the second time we been there but the worst service I have got from here read more

It's not the best pho I've ever had but it is close to where I live. Good walk, about a mile from home. I would've only ranked this place at a 2 but bc of their dessert drinks... I give em a 3.5. My boyfriend didn't care for this place too much either only bc it wasn't up to par with his standards. "Grimy or dirty" as he puts it. Our search continues for a good pho place. read more

The food was just okay. The condiments bottles were sticky and dirty. While we ate no one asked if we needed to refill our water or if we needed anything else. I guess they don't value and feel the need to impress customers to come back. read more

Had the medium Bun Bo Hue. I was pretty impressed. The broth was very delicious, light, and fresh. There were plenty of meat as well as veggies to go on the side. Haven't tried the pho, but if the Bun Bo Hue is that good, I wouldn't be surprised if the pho was even better. read more

It's only a 4 for service and having to ask for more herbs. They bring out 1 plate of herbs for everyone to share. It's a very small amount at that... Otherwise they have good, fresh, Pho & well worth the price!!!! read more

Warning!!!!! Let me start off with the pho is really good! But they only give basil to "special customers". Ive been coming here maybe for 4 months 3 times a week maybe so im kinda a regular by now but nope still ive never gotten any basil. Lol but thats not the reason why im doing this review its a MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM! As i was leaving after enjoying a bowl of pho.. i was looking up at the budda man and a HUGE roach was on the wall.. so i wont be back i sure will miss the good pho tho but i cant deal with roaches sorry not sorry and this is my 1st review on yelp sad its a bad one! 2 stars only because its a good flavor.. hope this help! I tried the Pho Bo Kho and it was really good! Decided to branch out from my normal orders of Bun, Pho, the more typical stuff. So glad I did. The one thing is I would've liked more carrots in the stew, but then again I was really glad to see there was a good amount of beef. The broth was very flavorful. Will be back for more! read more

Came here because I had a massive craving for pho. Saw this place from Chef Tu on Facebook and decided to come try it out. It wasn't impressive. I asked the server how much to add extra noodles and she said, "I don't know, $2?" I was bewildered! on their menu, it said $1 for the medium size and $1.25 more for the large. So I ordered two larges for me and my dad. There was a lot of noodles, but it was hella little meat! I guess it was $1.25 for the extra noodles then. Lol! But all in all, she was nice. Maybe it's just lack of experience. read more

Best pho restaurant in the Bay Area hands down. Usually when it comes to noodle soup I'm more of a Ramen fan but this place made fall in love with pho all over again. Also the filet mignon is ridiculously juicy. read more

First impression matters. I walked in and was greeted by the comfort of a clean space. Pho Mekong definitely scored brownie points against Pho Oakland #1 on level of cleanliness. Their interior has been repainted inviting better ambience all around. Most restaurants close around 7-8 o' clock, I was lucky enough to dine in, so I can't complain too much. Because there were still handful of tables eating, it wasn't as awkward eating by myself. I chose the Bun Bo Huè noodle soup; I've tried a lot of places in oakland, this wasn't too bad. But it does have room for improvement. I must admit though, the soup did kick me in the face because that spiciness was level 10 on a 14 scale. Overall, Pho Mekong is a place worth trying. I'd come back a second time. Perhaps with a glass of milk in my hand to ease the kick! Wadahh!! read more

Love this place!! I've tried several Vietnamese restaurants in the bay but haven't found a place that had such great selections and servings as Mekong Restaurant. They were recently closed but re-opened. Finally! I had been waiting for their delicious food and great portion sizes! They have their own parking lot so you don't have to park on the street. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Decent for some pho on a nice cold day. My friend like the bun bo hue And my girl like the pho too. What the problem was that they wear gloves but they dont change them. I saw them brought out food and later use the same glove picking up trash on the floor, went to the bathroom and came out with gloves on too. I dont know what to think but feel disgusted. So..... on you guys, next time observed for yourself. read more

I thought I would finally write a review for this place. I usually get the bun bo hue and my friend gets the bun mang vit. Both very tasty and the soup taste flavorful and not filled with MSG. The proportions to the price is what keeps me coming back, there is always a good amount of meat and noodles. On hot days I love getting the rice plates, too much food to handle. But the pork chops are always seasoned so perfectly paired with the egg roll. read more

SCUMS. I went in for a strawberry smoothie, and the entire time one of the workers, a young male who hardly speaks English, kept glaring at me as if I was about to steal something. After paying with card, I was never prompted to sign a receipt, only to find later on my bank account that I was charged FIVE DOLLARS on top of what I had already paid for. I am not able to take legal action because, first and foremost, I lack any receipt to show evidence of my transaction at said restaurant. I was treated as a criminal and I was robbed blindly.
