I absolutely love it here. There spice is very good and they make one of the best dishes in town (Lard Na) it's a chicken or beef dish that is served with rice noodles in a savory sauce that is sautéed with broccoli and pepper to * rating. The problem was not the food, but instead it was the service. I had to seat myself, the tables were littered with dirty eaten off plates, I had to wait about 10 minutes until I was given a menu, I wasn't brought water until I received my appetizer (another 10 minutes), I had to go get my own eating utensils off of another table.The hardest part was that only several of their tables were actually occupied in the entire restaurant. Recently I tried the Mekong Restaurant for the third time, tried a different dish each time, and although the servers are all very friendly the food is without a doubt the worst Thai food I have ever eaten. I can honestly say that the only thing that tasted even remotely like real Thai food was the Thai Iced Tea. I really never like to post a bad review for any restaurant but I try to always write an honest and unbiased review and all I can say is that Mekong Restaurant is to Thai food what Taco Bell is to Mexican food. read more

I can't speak for their Phud Thai but I can comment on their Cashew Chicken (my husband's fav), eggs rolls, Thai iced tea, and #18 on the menu (my fav). Rated 4 stars! Happy with our meals. We ordered their 'phud thai with beef' and the portion was large, it is the type of order to share with others - I thought it was a single entree so it was a nice surprise for such a decent price! We also had one of their combos and that was a fair portion too, we took home leftovers. Food tasted great, definitely authentic yet simple. The waitress we had was friendly, she did not check on us as other restaurants do but that was fine. During our dine-in, a good amount of take-out orders and call-ins were made so that's a good sign! Stopped in for dinner tonight with another couple. I really wanted to like this place but found it not to meet my expectations. Primarily the service was slow, very slow, and the food came out sporadically (ie one appetizer came out quick, the other one not till we asked about it and then it came with half of the main entrees...the other main entrees came out a bit later.) It really didn't seem that busy to me with around 50 percent occupancy but the waitress apologized and said that was why it was so slow. I had some wontons for an appetizer and they were the highlight of the meal. If they had been all I had, I probably would have given an extra star. For my main I had the Mongolian chicken. I found the chicken not tasting all that good and feeling underwhelmed by the dish. I also found my wife's chicken lo mein not impressive. But again just for the taste of the chicken in the dish. All else in the dish tasted good. The service though will probably keep me from giving this place a 2nd chance at least until I forget how slow it was. read more

This is my go-to Thai food restaurant. They have a great lunch menu! I am always amazed by the large portion sizes for the price. I suggest the Pad Thai and Vegetable Chicken lunch combo--so fresh and delicious. However, lunch ends at 2pm--so don't wait! Deducted a star due to the average ambience. I LOVE the food, but very disappointed with the service. i have gotten my meal too hot 3 times. i only get a 1-1 1/2 , not spicy at all. and all 3 times i couldn't eat it, also today the portion size was noticeably smaller. each time i would call back because these were all to-go orders, and all they say is "sorry" !!!!! its not ok, if i cant eat the meal they should give me my money back !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i will still go because i love the food but it makes me mad . read more

I've never eaten here before when my friend recommended we go. I ordered the green curry with chicken. The chicken looked undercooked and pink inside. I took one bite and it was gummy. I asked the waitress if it looked undercooked. She assured me it would be fine trying to convince me to eat it. I said I've been sick from chicken several times and didn't want to chance it. I asked her if she'd eaten the chicken and she said she was a vegetarian. She said well is it ok if we cook the chicken so it'll be dry from being over cooked? I couldn't believe it. They remade me meal and the chicken literally squeaked in my mouth from tasting like rubber. Highly disappointed and grossed out. She brought a box for my friends meal and it looked like she wiped her makeup all over the inside. Waitress was nice. Slow service, non apologetic. Will never go again. My husband and I just ordered take-out from Mekong. Although you can always be taking a risk with take-out, we have gotten Thai take-out from many different places that is delicious. We opted for Mekong (which was recommended by a co-worker) on a Sunday when our favorite Thai restaurant was closed. I am sorry to say it was a VERY dissappointing experience. We are both laid back people and neither of us are usually ones to complain about stuff, however this place was terrible and a waste of money. The green curry with tofu (one of my favorite dishes)had overcooked, soggy vegetables, the 'pan-fried tofu' was completely raw, and the curry sauce was terrible- it looked like milk that was dyed with green food coloring and didn't taste much better. My husband's dish was a bit better, however it wasn't spicy and he asked for a 'level 3'. I could deal with all of this, and chalk it up to a bad night, but when I called to let them know about the issues with our order (not to get a refund or anything- just to tell them) I was told "sorry, but we are really busy tonight," - so that makes it okay to serve terrible food that is not what you describe on the menu and be unaccountable to your customers? At that point I said they just lost a potential customer and the woman on the phone said "OK". How do you not value your customers in this economy? Most of us don't have money to throw around and personally, when I do spend money I expect at least mediocre customer service, especially at a restaurant! I am happy that most people on this list had good experiences here- maybe dine-in is different? However, we will definitely NOT be going back there again. read more
