We have been going to the Point Judith location for a few years, but on our recent 4th of July trip we decided we'd hit up all three Meldgie's locations and this one was by far our least favorite. It was the morning after 4th of July, so maybe that was it. Waitress was rude and not friendly, almost bothered that we were there. My wife got French Toast that was lukewarm and they didn't have the hash brown patties. I got the 4th of July Firecracker Omelet special. The omelet itself was fine enough, but the buffalo home fries were undercooked and just had a bit of buffalo sauce drizzled over the top - completely different than what I'd had over the two days prior. I visited this diner located in Bonnet Shores, RI, and was disappointed. Food: The food I ordered, for $7.50, was something I could make better at home. The toast was drenched in butter, which someone else mentioned in another yelp review, the home fries were over seasoned and unevenly cooked (some were burnt some were undercooked), the sausage had no flavor, and the eggs were just average. Service: The waitress never came back to ask how the food was, and didn't ask if we wanted refills after finishing our drinks. Lastly, know that if you go to the diner, the waitress leaves the check on the table and YOU have to bring it up to the cash register. Normally you leave the money on the table but here you have to do everything yourself. Overall: This diner isn't bad for someone who wants a very quick breakfast before hitting the beach (food was served in less than 5 minutes) but I do believe that the same food you order here can be made at home for cheaper & tastier! read more

Decided to enjoy a lunch with my daughter-in-law who has been working from home every day. She had never been to Meldgie's Diner for lunch, so we decided today was the day. Although breakfast is available Every day, All day! the lunch menu was more tempting. I enjoyed one of Melgie's "Our Famous" Club. The Turkey Club was made with fresh roasted turkey, bacon and just the right amount of lettuce, tomato and mayo. My daughter-in-law went for the Bacon Cheeseburger and it was perfectly cooked and customized with lettuce and tomato. We shared a side order of curly fries that were crispy and seasoned nicely. Hungover breakfast place. I recently visited Meldgie's Diner (for the first time not being hungover) with two of my friends. The customer service was average at best even with a low number of customers at the time. The prices were reasonable, but the food was unimpressive. The fruit pancakes were amazing and we were given good sized portions, but everything else was blah; sausages were room temperature, hash brown tasted of grease, home fries were undercooked and extremely over seasoned, bacon tasted fake, and the avocado was rubber and had obviously been frozen prior to being served. I do not expect the greatest food when visiting hole in the wall breakfast diners, but this was very disappointing for me. I hope the service and food I received was just a fluke. Good place if you're hungover or have nowhere else to eat in the morning, but I suggest trying to find somewhere else in Narragansett for better quality food and service. read more

So surprised at some of these reviews because I had such a great breakfast at meldgies! We were a party of 10 and they accommodated us with ease and got us seated as fast as they could. With the amount of people we expected the food to take a long time to come out but it actually came out really quick! Everyone enjoyed their plates and I know I definitely did! I had a ham, egg and cheese on a bagel with home fries and a pancake on the side. Portions were generous and I left full and content. Everything tasted great and I especially loved the garlicky seasoning on those home fries YUM. The only critique I would give is that I personally prefer my home fries to be on the crispier side and some of these were a little underdone for my preference. I usually stop here for breakfast while I'm away in Rhode Island. They have such fresh food, organic eggs, fresh tomatoes, everything is basically farm fresh. My mom is can only eat Gluten Free which is hard for her especially at new places. They have the best gluten free bread! I tasted it myself and you would never know the difference. She loves their home made tuna. It's made that day to order. Fantastic BLTs, bacon is PERFECT & tomatoes are ripe which makes all the difference. The turkey club is a must have. We ate in for breakfast 4 out of the 7 days we stayed. We would also call in our order to pick up and take to the beach with us. TIP- bring aluminum foil with you if you plan on taking sandwiches to the beach. Hey are put into foam containers which makes the sandwiches fall apart. They do skimp on the food especially tuna when you order takeout. They need more kitchen help. It's 2 men making cooking and prepping the food behind the counter. I can't even give them less stars for this because their food again is amazing quality. Anyone who is in the Narragansett, Wakefield or surrounding areas must stop by for breakfast or lunch. I really wish we hadn't and I wish I could give this place a good review (since locals seem to love it!) but I can't for the following reasons: - I am a HUGE pancake lover/aficionado and these were literally the worst pancakes I've had my entire life... they were so dry and tasteless. Not to mention the poor effort of included bananas - were they even there? - Service was slow and took forever to order. Granted if we hadn't been so hungry then this may of been an issue I'd be more willing to overlook but two tables that came in after us were served before us. - My friend also had scrambled eggs with toast. Greasy, oily and again tasteless! Bland bland bland. - Coffee was crap but I've learnt to accept that from these types of places for the most part. Stopped in for the first time yesterday and Meldgie's is a great little hole in the all hot breakfast and lunch. Blueberry pancakes were great and I ordered the corned beef hash as well and it definitely was home made!! Hash Browns were great with some ketchup and a dab of salt. Bit of a wait at the beginning of the meal, looks like weekend breakfasts are a busy time for them. A little confusion at the end for us, instead of paying the bill at the table they have you pay at the counter. We asked for the bill and it took the waitress a half hour to let us know where to go to pay. Kind of a long line just to pay up, but it was nearly closing time so the delay was understandable. This place used to be my go to breakfast spot. Last time I was there I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with well done home fries, eggs over hard and raisin toast with a side of Johnny Cakes. I asked for the Johnny Cakes to be hot and crispy and they were warm-ish and pre cooked without making the mixture with boiling hot water cause they tasted gritty and flavorless. The home fries were basically boiled potatoes and not crispy at all. Some of the chunks were even a little crunchy from being undercooked. The eggs were cold and the raisin toast was the same with WAY TOO MUCH unmelted butter all over each slice. So, not only did my server not care that the kitchen messed up my order and brought out cold and undercooked food, but the kitchen also failed to read her notes asking for well done home fries and hot/crispy Johnny Cakes. The serving staff, for the most part, is absolutely amazing. The kitchen staff is under qualified and in constant rotation. Don't know what's going on because I LOVE the Wakefield location. Won't be returning here anytime soon. Lost my business due to continued poor results. read more

Honestly, I've given Meldgie's about five different chances and I just am never crazy about it. One of the times that I went I did get extremely sick and was a bit turned off by it for some time but since then have gone back. The menu offers the standard American breakfast stables, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns, etc. It is nice that they are in a mini-shopping center so there is always parking available in the lot. The inside is quite small and very outdated. The times that I have gone it has been during the Summer (the busiest time of the year) or on weekends in the Winter so I've experience a wait, which was bearable. As mentioned they have a standard breakfast menu and the prices are definitely fair. However, I find the food to be bland and not nearly as good as Meldgie's competitors in the area (although they tend to have higher priced menu items). Overall, everything here is fine, the atmosphere, cleanliness, staff, food...you name it. It serves its purpose but it does so in a very average way. read more
