Pizza was good. The "Holy Shitake" was on point. Good flavor palate. Would definitely eat there again. Service was good, not exceptional, but good. They were also fairly busy. Staff was all friendly. Crust was doughy and good. Not my favorite crust, but it was still good by any standard. I like that they are doing craft flavors rather than going with just traditional. While were there there were menus for the employee selections. I asked if these were just employee favorites, and they told me that the employees actually had a chance to create the recipes and these were the ones that made it to the menu. I thought that was a pretty cool program and shows that they invest in their employees. Overall, Yay! I'm a fan. read more

Thank you to my server (whose name I am not able to remember). He was great to chat with as I selected a beer. He was patient because many of the beers on the menu were out -- it was about the time for the monthly changing of the menu. This was a bummer because there were no pumpkin beers on tap and it was barely the beginning of October. I enjoyed the stuffed portabella mushroom from the appetizer menu as my dinner with some garlic bread. I was there rather early, so it was not crowded in the bar area where I was seated. Smelled great -- I would have ordered a pizza had I not been eating alone. A spot that hit the spot when I was in town to visit WKU. Talk about a lucky Yelp find! We came, we ate, we had a fun time! The interior is quirky and bright, service was incredible and friendly. Lots of really good food and beverage choices. BJ got a Three Floyd's Gumball brew and I ordered a cocktail named The Grateful Dead. It sounded amazing, tequila, triple sec, vodka, rum , gin, Chambord, Blue Curacao, sweet and sour mix and a splash Sprite. But with one sip, I was regretting my decision and set it to the side of the table. Extremely incredible server saw the look on my face and the new location of my drink and knew something was wrong. Without a word, he went to the "regular" bartender and had them remake the drink. And the second one was so delicious. Apparently, a bartender in training needed more training. For my meal, I got Shrimp Hoag Boy. The shrimp were perfectly grilled and had support we yummy "jerk" seasoning, lots of mushrooms and caramelized onions, pesto mayo, lettuce & Roma tomatoes. The pizza here is pretty great. I love the crust. Both speciality options I have tried are tasty: mushroom-y truffle, bacon and potato. These have catchier names, but I can't recall them. I hope to try more specialities in future visits. To pair with the pizza, MM has a lengthy list of beer offerings. Thus far I have been stymied by the website and unable to enroll in the Beer Club, but I am determined to do so. I have been led to believe that if you try 100 different pints you get MORE beer for the same price. In addition to the yummy pizza and solid beer list, service is friendly and efficient. We stopped in late on a Saturday, and bar manager Cam welcomed us. It was our first time to town and he was extremely friendly and willing to answer our (many) questions about the area. As far as I know, Mellow Mushroom is the only pizza chain to offer vegan cheese- which is the only kind of cheese my husband and I eat these days. The brand they are using now actually melts really well, and tastes just as good (I'd argue that its better) than dairy cheese. Cam also had some great recommendations for toppings, and mentioned that a lot of the produce on their menu arrives fresh daily from local growers- a huge plus! We'll definitely stop in again whenever we're back in BG! read more

This is one of my favorite pizza restaurants of all time. The pizza is delicious, and that includes the dough, which I often think is chewy and bland. There's is buttery and yummy. We had the appetizer that is basically cut up breadsticks with a dipping sauce; I can't remember the name of it, but it was amazing. The restaurant was clean and well-stocked. The service was good, but we did have to ask for refills. If you are in the mood for Italian food, Mellow Mushroom is a great choice. read more

To bad we were just passing through Bowling Green or we would be coming here on a regular basis. Wonderful food and excellent service. Had the bruschetta appetizer and it was fantastic! Also had a half mega-veggie and BBQ chicken was was very good. Highly recommended, but I am sure the locals already know that. Oh almost forgot to mention the excellent selection of beers on tap. I wish I could give this place 100 stars. I've been vegan for 8 months, and I haven't had a single slice of pizza since then. This place changed my life. SOOOOOOOOO good, and even my non-vegan friends thought it was amazing too. They liked the vegan option over the regular cheese pizzas we also ordered. Honestly I knew I'd like this place from the moment I walked in because they were blasting Pink Floyd lol. The wait was a little long, but it was so worth it. The waitress was also wearing such a cute outfit with a long skirt and combat boots! And the decor was just awesome. I can't believe I'm just finding out about this place!!! Unbelievable. read more

After the initial opening the wait times are very reasonable now, most of the time you are seated immediately. Staff is mainly (tattooed) college kids but very friendly. This is becoming a regular stop for us while traveling I-65. Always good, nice beer selections. Watch out though, they charge you for a taste of a beer, and the beer cheese with a pretzel is an additional $2.50. I just wish they would say that when the recommend it. My daughter attends WKU and loves this place. Thought I'd give it try while in town one evening. My daughter enjoyed her potato pie pizza, my husband said the calzone was excellent. I like to start and end on positive notes. Jacob, our server, was awesome. We walked in, the place wasn't even close to packed. We have been hiking all day. Our legs are tired and our bellies are empty. The hostess went to seat us at a higher table. I said "hey, could we have a booth. We are super short and have been hiking all day." She rolled her eyes and dropped the menus at a booth. Apparently, we ruined her day by asking if we could sit at one of the many open booths. Then, we waited awhile to get a server. Seems like the not-so-happy hostess didn't inform him we had been seated in his section. She did however, find a group of friends and sat down in their booth to chat for an extended period of time. We ordered pretzels as an appetizer . FYI... it's pizza dough and not pretzels. It took forever to get them as I believe they were delivered to another table and they refused them. We got our not good appetizer with our pizza, which was pretty mediocre for Mellow Mushroom. Left most of it on the table. Our drink glasses were never empty. We went to Mellow Mushroom about a week ago. We purposely went early (about 4:30pm) knowing that the place is famously busy, especially on a Saturday. They did a good job of accommodating our group of 8, and got us in right away. Had we gone later, judging by the line out the door, it would have taken substantially longer for such a big group. The beer menu is extensive for bother bottles and tap beers, and has some great products for any kind of taste. I was quite impressed. The wine list, as to be expected at a pizza venue is limited at best. The only issue I had here was that they did not have all the beers that were on the menu. I'm not sure if it was because the place is still new and they haven't gotten everything yet, or if they were just not keeping up with all the beer on the list. It took a bit to figure out with the waiter running back and forth what they had or did not have. I know for sure the snakebites and Purple Haze beers were in stock and fresh tasting. Definitely no stale beer here. The pizza menu is also extensive. It consists of a large number of salads, grinders, and gourmet pizzas. You can also build your own pizza out of a seemingly never ending number of toppings. We had the mushroom pizza with 3 types of mushrooms, cheese, white sauce, and caramelized onions. I was worried that the onions would take over the flavor of the pizza, but they did not at all. Everything worked well together to create an overall flavor with no one topping taking over. Some of our crew built their own, while others got ones straight off the list. Everyone was happy with their selection.- Just a word of advice, get the 10" if you are a lighter eater and take 2 of the 4 pieces home. If you are a heavy eater, get the 10" and keep it to yourself. The 10" is a good size for one person either way, and then everyone can have their own personal pizza. The pizza crust is also amazing, it tastes like fresh garlic bread! good idea Mellow Mushroom! We had a great server who was super busy, but did his best to keep up with our needy 8 person table. Having been a server I always feel bad making a waiter get something different each time they come to the table, but he did very well with us being that kind of table, especially considering the fact that, after chatting with him, that he had been triple sat (3 tables all a the exact same time - it's a huge challenge). The only warning is that you have issues with piercings and tattoos (which I personally love, and love to see a diverse crowd of people) you might want to avoid this place. Their entire staff is pierced and tattooed and just a little different looking. I feel it adds to the atmosphere and gives an option to Bowling Green outside of the conservative boring atmosphere you see in most places. It's just fun to see so many different types of people in one place. Overall we had a great experience. The pizza was tasty, the beer was fresh, and the service was great. My only complaints were the fact that they didn't have all the beers on the menu, and the crowd that occurs so frequently waiting to get a table. But, on the other hand, seeing such a long line over and over is a really good sign that a good restaurant is going to hang around for a while. Definitely going back soon! read more
