I normally don't leave bad reviews, especially for service staff, as I know it isn't an easy job. However, we walked in on a Thursday night and the restaurant was relatively empty. There wasn't anyone at the host station or any server to be found so we waited for 3-5 minutes, which didn't initially bother me because I understand that it can be busy. We were seated and the host was very nice. We waited for a server for about 10 minutes before I started trying to get the attention of a server because we hadn't even gotten drinks yet. The few servers I did see were standing off in a circle laughing (I would've had no problem with this if we had also been given any sort of service.) They seemed to be trying to ignore us. After 20 minutes of waiting without even drinks we just decided to leave. On the way out the servers watched us leave and the host at the station was turned around on her phone. I really hate to leave a review like this and almost never judge a server for being slow or seeming stressed because I used to work in the food industry, but to be completely intentionally ignored was a little frustrating. read more

During happy hour special the food is super cheap! The one problem is though that we arrived at 4:08 pm and ordered immediately. A few other groups came in after us at least 10 minutes or later and ordered. Their food somehow came out before ours. It was not salads it was pizza they got. Are food took 34 minutes to bring out. That was the one downside of our experience. So if you're in a rush I would not suggest going to this location. read more

If you are allowing the only picture that references gluten free with the "GF" in the caption on your Yelp page AND the pizza turns out to be your regular dough this is extremely deceiving! This picture has been up for 2 years. Take it down immediately or have the user change the caption because the soggy grey flat poor excuse for gf pizza I was served was clearly not meeting the expectations set by this users picture. Food: 3 Stars Service: 2 Stars We (a party of 4) visited a week after they first opened, understanding that there could be some kinks during our experience as it was a new restaurant. By 6pm, the venue was completely packed with groups of people still waiting to be seated. We opted to wait (20 mins) by looking through their menu. Their menu is extensive with a variety of options for everyone (i.e. vegetarian and GF options are available). We ordered a little bit of everything- a few cocktails, a couple of apps, and 4 pizzas. Most everything tasted pretty generic/no different from what you might find in your local grocer's freezer. The Holy Shiitake Pie was my favorite as the pizza was layered generously with mushrooms and a creamy sauce. My Thai Dye pizza was underwhelming as they forgot to add Thai chili sauce and there was barely any basil, but seeing as we had waited over an hour for our food, we just wanted to eat and get out. I ended up taking my leftovers home and adding the toppings myself the following day, and the pizza was infinitely better. I will add that the pizza dough is a bit unique as it is a bit more dense and chewier than what you might be used to. There's also a deeper nuttier flavor (do they add molasses to their dough for the color and flavor?). Our server was as pleasant as could be, but you could tell she was overwhelmed by the crowd and lack of staff they had on hand that night. Apparently, everyone was in the kitchen (hands on deck) to help get food rushed out to the floor. As I mentioned above, we waited over an hour for our meal. For those interested in trying this place out, I'd give them some more time to work out their kinks. read more

I went here with my family on a Wednesday night a couple weeks ago. My mom has spoken very highly of Mellow Mushroom, which is why we chose to go there for dinner. Overall, drinks were okay, food was amazing, service was not. To start on the positive side, the setting of the restaurant is fun and funky. I got the Sunset in Paradise drink, which was refreshing and had a pineapple garnish and was rimmed with toasted coconut. My mom and sister-in-law got the Lemon Submarine, which they enjoyed. We got the bruschetta appetizer, which was sprinkled with balsamic vinegar and a crumbly cheese. The tomatoes were fresh and juicy, it was perfect. For my main dish, I got the Veggie Calzone and asked for no mushrooms. This is where some of the issues with service come about. I can't stand mushrooms--they make me feel sick to my stomach and I hate the taste. When I ordered, I tried to be very clear that I didn't want mushrooms on my Calzone. I understand mistakes happen, and usually I don't mind when things like this! However, it took about 10 minutes for our us to get our waitress's attention. When I asked about the issue, she was not apologetic whatsoever and did not seem to care. I'm not asking for a big apology or anything, but some sort of empathetic response is expected. She said she would bring out a new one. When the mushroom-less calzone was brought out, our waitress brought it out in a to-go box. This sent the message that we needed to hurry and leave the restaurant, as they were closing in about 45 minutes. This was ridiculous, considering I had to wait nearly an hour total for the Calzone I ordered. If I go to a sit down restaurant with my family, I want to sit down and eat with them, not eat the food in the car!! This was rude and rubbed me the wrong way. Even though my Calzone was delicious once they got it right, it did not make up for the poor experience. The house salad is mix greens, white onions, tomatoes, black olives, cucumbers and large slices of Parmesan. I have been interested in trying Mellow Mushroom in chesterfield since it opened. It is a casual restaurant with a nice outdoor space (of course for the warmer seasons). We ordered the spinach artichoke dip, naked wings and a large pizza (1/2 house special and 1/2 Maui Wowie). The dip was fine; the bread was served with is was seasoned and soft, nothing out of the ordinary. Naked wings were fine, we asked for Thai chili sauce on the side which I believe is a generic sauce I've seen at other restaurants- not bad because I actually like that sauce. The large pizza is LARGE. Crust was thin and everything was cooked properly which is a plus for me! (The first time i tried mellow mushroom was at a different location and I remember my pizza was not finished in the middle). I think we would probably order pizza from here again, maybe for pick up. So glad this place came to chesterfield. They have great really friendly service and the kitchen gets stuff out very fast. The food is incredible. I'm splitting my pizza orders between here and Talayna's which is also great. I love the smoked wings with garlic parm sauce. They call them cloud 9. I get it with Bleu cheese dressing and they make the best I've ever had. I used to order the wedge salad just for the dressing but they took that off the menu . I order the meat lovers which I think they call mighty meaty or something like that, with thin crust option and I order it crispy. It's so good even the next day. If you like mushrooms you have to try the Holy Shitake. It's sooo good. Had to copy this from their menu- Olive oil and garlic base with roasted shiitake, button and portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella, Wisconsin Aged White Cheddar cheese, fresh chives, shaved Parmesan, garlic aioli swirl and a spritz of black truffle oil. read more

I highly recommend this restaurant ! The service is always top notch. We also feel comfortable coming here and ordering food that is fit for our daughters allergies. Not only is the pizza with dairy free cheese safe for her to eat but it's also delicious! They really thought about it all when building out this space. The inside is spacious and the aesthetics are nice! On the patio they sometimes have live music. Our 3 year old loves this place so much she decided she wanted her birthday party here! While you can't make reservations you can call ahead and let them know what to expect and they are more than accommodating! read more

We ordered a large 1/2 holy shiitake (extra caramelized onions & aioli) and 1/2 mighty meat. And 1 tap beer. It took about 35 minutes to get the pizza. I forgot to ask for a THIN crust (oh wait,should the waitress have asked us if we wanted thin crust or gigantic mile high thick crust?). We got thick crust. When the pizza arrived, it was all dough bubbles up and had no caramelized onions on it at all. I checked. I asked the waitress about the oversight and she said well I asked the kitchen for extra and she offered to bring me a cup of caramelized onions. I agreed. It just was not the same. But, I hate sending food back for them to throw away. I've been to this pizza joint 4 times in the last 3 months and they jacked up my pizza twice. That's 50% accuracy. How hard is it to make pizza? Apparently, very hard for mellow mushroom. They seem to focus on a mile high (crust) pizza and not the top of the pizza. If you like dough, this is the place for you. Our bill was 41.00 and change. For a pizza I didn't order and a beer. The servers blame to kitchen and the kitchen blame the servers. Is anyone in charge here? Is anyone responsible? Oh, that's not it. On my bill I got charged an extra 1.75 for caramelized onions! Onions that were never on the pizza to begin with! If you're going to run a gourmet pizza joint, you should get better cooks in the kitchen, and get more consistent with the 12 stock pizzas that you offer. Your wait staff need to believe the customers when they say something is missing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Get rid of those annoying chairs on the patio. Or roll up shop[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. If I could give 6 stars I would. Food was absolutely delicious. The buffalo chicken pizza was incredible, the sauce is amazing! The crust on the pizzas is so amazing and crispy that you can't leave it in the plate. The price to portion ratio was great. The small pizza for $15 has 4 slices, nobody at the table was able to eat more than 2 and a half. The calzone for $13 was absolutely massive. Our waitress was nice and easy to work with. The food came reasonably fast and the refills were right on time. The ambiance was amazing! The music was a good vibe and the decorations for the whole place were amazing!' Party of three and we got sat immediately at about 5:30 on a Friday. We took advantage of the Happy Hour that goes until 6 and ordered Pretzel Bites, 2 Happy Hour Pizzas, a couple of drinks, and a salad. The waiter, Larry, was super nice and polite and the drinks came out in a timely fashion and the place started filling up. Food was not leaving the kitchen fast enough. It was about 45 minutes before we saw the Pretzel Bites and an hour before the rest of the food came out. (I'll spoil the rest and tell you we didn't like the food. We would not have even gone though had we known it would be an hour and a half production.) The pretzel bites in this case were not bites. They were long strips of dough that had been twisted. They were lightly buttered and salted and came with yellow mustard. We were pretty hungry by this point so we ate them. I wouldn't order them again. I ordered a pepperoni pizza and I flinched when Larry set it down in front of me. The pepperoni grease had pooled in the middle. I used about 3-4 napkins to blot that before I took a slice. It's mediocre. Lots of dough, very floppy, tasteless mozzarella cheese, and greasy pepperoni. One slice and done. Larry is great but I won't be back here. We have been to mellow mushroom many times, never this branch. It is my son's favorite. Our experience tonight was not great. We will not be returning. We ordered a bbq pizza. It came out full of grease. The server put the food on the table and didn't return to check on us for over 10 minutes. My husband used all the napkins on the table to soak up the grease on a slice in hopes of still eating dinner and it was terrible. The slice was soggy and bbq was overpowered by the grease. When she did return, I asked if the pizza was always served so greasy, she said yes- it is the way the bacon and cheese cook together. She looked at the full pie still on the tray and asked if we wanted them to make another one. I answered if they always come out greasy, no. She responded in a very annoyed tone- "I'll go get the manager". The manager came over and indicated that they prep the bacon in the morning and they will make another pizza for us without bacon. We declined as by this time we had been there for an hour and our three kids were done and ready to go. Also, my appetite was gone after trying one greasy bite. Charged and paid for a full pizza pie of grease that was left on the table. Treated as if we had inconvenienced the restaurant staff by voicing our concern. I love the pizza here! This is my second time getting a pizza to go and both times were equally consistent with high quality ingredients and flavor. My favorite pizza is pepperoni and mushroom on regular pan-style crust. The pizza crust here tastes homemade and they bake it so the very bottom of the crust is slightly crispy and the rest of the crust is nice and soft. There is a lot of sauce on the pizza, which is great. It also tastes homemade with a slight sweet flavor to it. They provide a good amount of toppings on the pizza as well. It is so good, it is hard to stop eating after 2 pieces. My only critique is that I wish the sauce and toppings went a bit further to the edge of the pizza. The pizza crust is quite thick along the edge. I also got a small caesar salad. I would skip this next time - it is a super small salad for $6.50 and the dressing isn't that great.
