We targeted 5-5:30pm for multiple reasons, i.e. avoid crowds, kid factor and quite frankly - us grownups were thirsty and hungry. We got a booth. This place has ample seating inside. They also have outdoor seating which I am not a fan of especially w/all the pollen. The indoor decor is colorful, not your everyday pizza pub. Our waitress was very attentive & nice. Again, having never been here, I convinced my son that we needed to try different options. From appetizers to different pizzas, oh, and the drinks - all were EXCELLENT. No long waits. I really hate to leave a bad review and try to work it out with the business first but buyer beware. Me and my mom spent $50 on pizza, expecting something a bit above the quality of your run of the mill papa johns. We received a sad version of a great white (pictured is what we got vs the picture on their takeout website) and a veggie calzone with 3 pieces of spinach. I work in F&B and can understand a slam or late night etc. but that it unacceptable to send out of the kitchen especially at those prices. When I called about the issue, I was left on hold for 21 minutes and if I had not gotten up to drive over they probably would have waited for me to hang up. Was told the manager was busy and would be with me in a second, but when I walked in the host and manager where chatting and giggling at the front desk. Sad way to lose a customer but poor food, lack of quality control, and a lack of caring about the business and customers by staff all together is unacceptable. read more

I visited Mellow Mushroom during my vacation in Charleston and it was a great place for the family to eat together. They had a high chair for my baby and a variety of vegan options. I really liked how clean and kid friendly Mellow Mushroom is. Additionally their menu is so customizable for a vegan diet to your family member that believes they are a carnivore. Where things fell short was the service was a bit slow. It took a long time for our table to be greeted, and our server was not too familiar with what all could be made vegan. I do appreciate, however, that our server checked with the kitchen about vegan options. Everything that was supposed to be vegan definitely came out plant-based. I do wish Mellow Mushroom had a specifically vegan menu. We ordered the veggie pizza and substituted vegan cheese. The pizza was pretty bland. I think if they had a vegan menu there would be pizza options with more flavor and I would have enjoyed the food more. The pretzel bites were made vegan for us and those were phenomenal!! We probably should have ordered 2 of them. We really appreciated them making that modification for us. Overall Mellow Mushroom was a good experience. Whether you call in or place an order online for pick up or eat in the restaurant the service is always pretty good. The pizza is always hot and your order is correct! Honestly these 3 things will seal the deal for me. The restaurant and bar are clean and also good for big parties or groups. Lots of TVs for sports too. And the neat decor always makes mellow a good time. The outdoor space is big with corn hole boards too. There's also lunch deals for weekday lunch options with pizza by the slice and small salads! Lots of toppings, awesome crust, and interesting combinations. While it's a bit over-the-top, I dig the ambience of the restaurants too. Service at this location was friendly and on time. The not-so-good: Three pieces of our carryout pizza had massive air bubbles, causing half of each of those those slices to no sauce/toppings (pictured). We went to MM as they were one of the few places still open after my daughter's volleyball game over here in Mt. Pleasant. We've been to the one at Tanger a couple of times and it was pretty good. We got the house special pizza (large) and my daughter had the meatball hoagie (1/2 size). The hoagie came with a bag of Miss Vicky's potato chips (daughter's choice). We also had the pretzel bites as an appetizer. It came with some of the best beer cheese I've ever had. We got a TON of pretzel bites, we left some because we couldn't finish. Awesome toppings-pepperoni, mushrooms-fresh, not canned, black olives, green bell peppers, honey ham slices that were chopped (so good!), large slices of bacon, onion, ground beef, sausage, and fresh Roma tomato slices. Those stupid tomato slices, though...just made it for me. I'll totally be stealing that idea! Service was very meh. I tried to extra smiley and nice to try to get her to smile-no dice. I think she was tired, which I can understand as we walked in at 8:50pm, but don't wait tables if it's going to physically drain you. So, losing a star for slow-ish, lackluster service. After we ordered, we were told it would be 30 minutes before we would get our food, because they are "backed up." 15 minutes to get a salad. The line for take out is out the door.
