Man I wish they were consistent. This is a roll of the dice based on who's in the back making your food. When you get it right, call and ask who made it. Then ask them for their work schedule and give them your cell number. If they are calling out make sure they text you so you know not to order the food from one of the others guys. My large (undersized oval) pizza was half crust on three slices and undercooked. When this pizza expands in your belly you wish you skipped dinner all together. Not the cheapest food in town but quality is always there. They hire good staff great beer selection. Pretzel bites are a must for our family. If you plan it right you can get two maybe three meals out of a visit there so in the end it might balance out dollar wise. read more

Great food, better people. I absolutely love their calzones and pizza but their customer service sets them apart. Tonight I screwed up my order by mistakenly adding anchovies to my calzone instead of artichoke hearts. By the time I called it had already been made and was out the door, totally my mistake. They not offered to make a new one and send it but when I declined (why should they pay for my mistake), they sent one anyways. Very generous of them and they've earned my business. read more

I've been coming here for about 18 years, but unfortunately, I found some consistent issues 1 regardless of who the server is, if we order a gluten-free pizza and remind the server that they typically get it wrong, they still seem to have a problem delivering a gluten-free pizza. I even worn the server that when they place the order to make sure that it's gluten-free and four out of five times over the past two years they get it wrong which means we have to wait even longer. 2) also the last two times I went there. My calzone was flatter than a pizza and that's no exaggeration. I hate to waste food so I decided not to return it but there was basically little to nothing inside all of that for $14 the second time it happened to me recently. I mentioned it to the manager and he provides me with a measly five dollar discount. I understand the labor pool, etc but I would say that consistently over the past year the product that they're turning out is nowhere near what it used to be and there's a lot of competition with a lot of new pizza joints in town. I really wanted to make it work there, but it looks like they have some work to be done. My advice to them is that the cost of goods for pizzas cheap. I know it because I used to be in the restaurant business that they should make a calzone that at least is as thick as two or 3 inches instead of flat like a pizza and don't skimp especially when you're charging $14 for that . We love going to Mellow for happy hour on Friday! Molly is amazing and super nice to our little girl Keira. Its a great place for a nice cold beer and good company. Happy hour is great, they do $2 off craft beers. They have a great beer lists that is always changing. My wife and I look forward to Fridays at mellow each week. Though I've eaten here a bunch in the past, my roommate most recently brought home a small mega veggie for me (um, can I give her 5 stars while I'm rating things?). As usual, it was awesome with great sauce and soft Parmesan crust. My other go-to is the Caesar pizza which is amaaazing! I'm not really a huge fan of the sandwiches but everything else (pretzels, salads, calzones, etc) are consistently great. Service and atmosphere are nice. I have never had a bad, or even a good pizza from Mellow. Each time, it's been great and today was no exception. I realized after I had parked the car and taken a seat at the bar that Monday was "kids night" and it was just too much hassle to find somewhere else. Good service from the bartender, I opted to stay seated there for my pizza which arrived about 15 minutes later, fresh and hot. A "small" pie, it was cut into corners and well topped with chicken and roasted red peppers and onions. Not especially greasy either, which does sometimes happen with certain toppings. The crust was flaky and delicate - more like a "pan" than a "thin" if such things matter to you. I think the price was a little high, but it was good pizza and I think it was worth it. Good outside seating area for the warmer weather but not much of a view there except for Highway 17. Lots of trees, so not much sunshine either. read more

We just had our 5th visit here and when I checked in I couldn't believe that I hadn't written a review yet. This place is consistently good! We love the pizza here, salads and various appetizers and wine we've tried here. I was also happy to learn that they deliver also, but I haven't tried that option yet. We always come here with our 4 kids. We get sat immediately most visits and our servers are always helpful and nice. I'm so glad that we live close to this place. Our kids simply love to eat there, never complain! I love that they have a gluten free crust option and that their menu states what is GF. The quality of the food is always above standard in my book! So I've tried mellow mushroom in 4 different states and although I love the pizza, the individual restaurants can be hit or miss on quality and consistency. I love the taste of the sauce and sweet flavorful crust but it seems like few locations can really get a good cook on the crust without burning it or the crust is undercooked and doughy. This was the second time trying this location in the last year. A year ago I would've rated them a 3 or 4 based on a crust that wasn't very flavorful. After giving them another try for takeout last night I'd say this location has really upped their game on the quality cook and taste. Mellow mushroom is a restaurant that I feel like I can go to in any city and expect consistency. MM in Mt. Pleasant was really no different. The pizza was pretty good, they didn't have tempeh available and we got tofu instead. I wish I had left that off all together. The tempeh is much better. Pretzel bites can't be beat. The main reason for the low rating has more to do with the other patrons! While the staff was masked, we were repeatedly passed by a party that were not wearing masks! While we did sit outside, they passed our table to walk back and forth to the parking lot at least 6 times, breathing and coughing in our direction! Mellow Mushroom pizza is one of my favorite pizza places, even as a chain. This location is usually busy, with adults and kids. We tend to seek a table near the window of the bar area. There is a large outdoor patio too. Beer is a draw for me as they have a large list of craft beers both local favorites and regional. Nothing better than beer with pizza. I would suggest to order one of their fine specialty pizzas, the list is long and most even have a local favorite you can only get at that location. But we also enjoy the make your own pizza, keep it simple with pepperoni and mushroom. Their pizza crust is not too thin, and not thick, it's perfect thickness and the garlic flavor on the crust edge makes me eat it all the way. I also enjoy their salads and get the flavorful Enlightened Spinach salad (spinach, dried cranberries, apples, pecans, feta and balsamic). I don't live in the area but was driving down to the Charleston airport to pick up my son, and passed the Mellow Mushroom in Mount Pleasant. I called to see if they had Gluten Free dough (my son is gluten sensitive), and if they would accept a late order (20 mins before closing) as that was the time we would be passing back through on our way home from the airport. They did have a gluten free option and were happy to accommodate our desired order pickup time. We were beyond impressed with the flavor of the pizza and the quality of the gluten free dough. I live for the Magical Mystery Tour pizza and the Lil Greek salad with Esperanza dressing. Mellow Mushroom should bottle and sell that dressing -- it is my fave. Now normally, I prefer a light and airy pizza crust. Mellow Mushroom's dough is dense, while wheat and "meaty". It has some chew to it. Once you find the perfect "flavor" of pizza at MM, you become something of a devotee. I've been going to Mm since the nineties in Athens, GA and not much has changed, which is actually a good thing. They tried messing around with their menu but the trusty favorites are there. I like mellow mushroom's Pizza, but the other locations are not as good as this one. My friends and I come to mellow mount p all the way from West Ashley because I really like the manager, Josh. He is a nice guy, friendly, always knows what's going on in the restaurant. You can tell he runs a better operation than the other Mellow locations in the area. I went to Mellow Mushroom Tuesday, April 30th. I did not eat lunch because I wanted to have a big appetite for pizza. By the time 4:30 rolled around, I could have eaten the waiter's arm, I was so hungry. I started off with a nice cold Arnold Palmer. Funny how the name seems like it would be an alcoholic drink but it's tea and lemonade that was perfectly mixed. I was craving mozzarella, so I ordered a caprese salad which is called Capri at Mellow Mushroom and was actually not on the salad menu. I don't care... it was very very good. I love the drizzled balsamic dressing and large slices of mozzarella. I saw all eyes on my salad but NOPE.... back off!! On to my pizza: A garlic based white pizza with mozzarella and feta, spinach and tomatoes. Being the bacon lover that I am, I added bacon. The waiter told me that was a good add-on because their bacon is crispy not limp. YUMOLA!!! He was absolutely right and let me tell you, I was completely satisfied. After another Arnold Palmer and some good laughs and conversation, I left with a full stomach. Needless to say, I did not have to eat the waiter's arm and neither will you. Winner Winner Pizza Dinner! Seriously, we literally won tonight. Free small Caesar salad (thanks to the Yelp check in offer) and fifteen dollars in "Mellow Bucks" thanks to a winning Bingo card. Not too shabby for our first visit to the Mt Pleasant location! Apparently every Thursday is Bingo night at the Mt P Mellow Mushroom. It's free, anyone can play and they have prizes. I'm fairly new to the Mellow Mushroom chain, only having ordered carry out from an Athens, GA location. We were shocked at how great it tasted, so visiting the MM here in Mt Pleasant has been on the agenda. Tonight we went with small salads (one Caesar, one house) and a medium Holy Shiitake pizza. It was the perfect amount of food for the two of us, with two slices leftover. The pizza has very bold flavors, it's savory and filling. The crust is nice and chewy, ever-so-slightly charred and a little sweet. The restaurant is what I would call "upscale casual." Our server was laid back, super friendly and didn't miss a beat. The interior has a funky modern-hippy vibe, tie-dyed decor with plenty of nods to the Grateful Dead. But it's kind of Willy Wonka style in the way it's carried out. The (full) bar and craft beer selection (at least 20 drafts) and the fact the pizzas lean more toward gourmet give it the "upscale" factor - and help justify the pizza prices. I've never been to a mellow mushroom before. I totally dig the vibe being that I'm from NJ I'm picky when it comes to pizza. I like a crisp, authentic, Brooklyn style pizza. Mellow mushroom is not that. They do have an option for a thin crust but I would still describe their pizza as "drunk pizza" as presidente would say. BUT that doesn't mean it's not goood. I was certainly impressed and enjoyed my meal. The dough was thick and pillowy but had Parmesan cheese on the crust. (it kinda reminded me of a Dominoes pizza but better.) the bruschetta was one of the best bruschettas I've had...unless I was just super tipsy from my also great margarita. The hummus and pita was ehhh but it's a pizza place so I didn't expect it to be good but was dining with vegans. We also got the pretzel Bites which are not pictured which were also very soft and a pleasant bite sized app. My girlfriend And mom had a pie made vegan for them with vegan cheese and veggies, it looked good and they enjoyed. Our waiter was awesome and they were very quick to light the heaters outside when we said we had a dog. Very friendly staff.
