    Chicken, strawberry and quinoa salad.
    Terri G.

We stopped in for a visit, but left disappointed. Mel's Diner is clean with a decent staff, but we had a long wait for the food to be bought out. The diner was less than half full, so you had to wonder how long the wait would be if it were filled. The menu has a variety of options, along with a drink menu and ice cream treats. Hubs ordered the classic diner fare, a pot roast sandwich, with fries and slaw. I decided on the chicken, strawberry and quinoa salad. The chicken was dry and half of it went home to the yorkies, although the greens were fresh and the vinaigrette dressing was good. Hubs was enjoying his pot roast sandwich, when he asked for the check and our server grabbed his plate without asking if he was finished. He was looking at the check and didn't notice his plate had disappeared. He wasn't happy about that, since he was still eating. Portions are generous and parking is good, but less of a wait and more attention to details would be a nice improvement. We may visit Mel's again.

In the area and decided to visit this local diner. The staff was very friendly, attentive the portions were large. Needless to say we were stuffed and still had some left overs. Easy parking and not too far from the highway. We'll come back to visit next time we're in the area.

    Real Big Country Fried Steak

This was a classic American diner with booths and a large menu offering American comfort foods with a few unique dishes as well. The service was alright. The food took some time to come out, but nothing concerning. I went the real big country fried steak ($10.59). It was topped with homemade sausage gravy and served with 2 eggs, and an option of breakfast potatoes or hash browns, and buttered toast or a biscuit. I opted for scrambled eggs with breakfast potatoes and a biscuit. The name of the dish was true as the steak was "real big." The gravy was thick and delicious while the steak was cooked appropriately. My only issue was the lack of flavor in the eggs, too plain. The breakfast potatoes, on the other hand, were seasoned and extremely crispy, great addition. Will I go back? Sure.

Bang for your buck applies here. We got to the restaurant at 6 pm and the place was packed. TIP...don't come early. The N in Naples is in the Florida alphabet and the early birds flock here: "N..N...Naples where the old folks go." If you just wait until 7pm you can have the place to yourself. This is good decent comfort food at an affordable price.

The price was super low considering the amount of food. Also you can't go wrong with $3 margaritas! Nothing fancy but service was great!

From the minute you walk in the door, you're greeted with the best hospitality from the owner! Even on a Monday, the restaurant was popping with regulars. They are great about getting customers in and out quickly (without you ever feeling rushed). We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated and were promptly greeted and our order was taken shortly after! It took maybe 10 minutes for our food to come out and it was all hot! I'm not usually a fan of coffee at breakfast spots and diners, but I gave it a try and it was probably the best drip coffee I've had! Our server had asked if I planned to share the full order of biscuits and gravy and I'm so glad she asked because the 1/2 order was HUGE! We got all kinds of things: the western skillet, the western omelette, the darling breakfast (kids breakfast), 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy, hash browns, bacon, eggs, toast, a biscuit, pancakes etc. everything was incredibly delicious and will keep us full all day!! We witnessed how much the owner & staff care about their customers and could tell the majority of the restaurant were regulars! Thank you for such a great experience. I kept fighting back tears thinking of my nana and how much she would have loved this spot. The artwork and decorations are so cute and so funny! We will be back!

From the moment we walked in, the hostesses and manager made us feel welcome and had us seated right away. Our server, Angel, was fantastic. He walked us through the menu, explained how many of the dishes were prepared, and made thoughtful recommendations without ever feeling pushy. We started with the octopus and fresh focaccia with honey. The octopus was exceptional--easily one of the best I've had and on par with dishes I've enjoyed at Michelin-starred and James Beard-recognized restaurants. We also shared the beet and goat cheese salad, followed by the local snapper and the ribeye cap topped with lobster claw and tail in chimichurri. Every dish was beautifully prepared and showcased the quality of the ingredients. The cocktails were well balanced (not overloaded with ice), and the Thyme on Thyme is an easy recommendation if you're looking for something light and refreshing. The wine list paired nicely with the meal as well. Watching the sunset over the water while listening to music drifting across the park made the evening even more memorable. Thanks to Angel and the kitchen for such an outstanding experience. Seventh South has earned a spot on our regular rotation whenever we're in Naples.

Our server Mike, did an excellent job taking care of us. We started off with a couple cocktails. I had an Old Fashioned and my wife had the Not Bogged Down. For dinner I had the Chorizo Encrusted Red Snapper and my wife had one of the specials which was the Tripletail. She said it was the best seafood dish she has ever had. For dessert, we split the special Crème Brûlée topped with diced fruit. We enjoyed the dessert so much, we purchased one for a sweet family of four sitting next to us. Our server Mike and the owner, Barry, helped make that happen and we appreciate it.

It was a little cool at first, but once the sun came up it warmed right up and was super comfortable. The waitresses were so nice and really on top of everything. There were seven of us, and we ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch. Everything came out fast, fresh, and hot. Breakfast was a hit--especially the pancakes. They had this perfect little crunch on the outside, and of course we had to order some "for the table" because that's just what we do. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and all the bacon and sausage were delicious. The lunch crew was just as happy. The bleu cheeseburger looked amazing, and the fries were perfectly crispy. My brother-in-law ordered the chicken fried steak again because he loved it last time, and he said it was just as good--tender, flavorful, and that gravy was spot-on. Overall, Alda's Diner is such a great find. Good, simple, home-cooked food done right. We'll definitely be back, and if you haven't tried it yet, you should!
