Found this Diner on the way back from Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, and we were starving! I had the amazing Mel's Key Lime Grouper, and what a delicious treat! My friend had the Prime Rib and was pleased although it was not as lean a cut as he had hoped. Our server, Nash, could not have been more attentive or pleasant. We also enjoyed the 50'/60's music. Finished our meal with a piece of Key Lime Pie. Would recommend this place if you are ever through here! read more

This place is a nice place to go for dinner. The servers are friendly and will help you often. I ordered chili cheese fries and it was tasty. The chefs know how much flavor to put in and make the dish taste good. I had an amazing mini creme brulee for dessert. Even though it is "mini" it is just enough to satisfy your taste buds. Be sure to specify how well you want your meat cooked and check it. It was a good experience. Get the key lime fish catch if you want some seafood. I've been going to this location ever since I can remember and it's looked practically the same! Haha. Mel's was always the place my grandma would take me and my cousin's for lunch dates. I LOVED the old recipe for their chicken noodle soup, now-a-days it's just not the same...sadly. I still enjoy some of their other dishes though! The chicken fingers are usually great. I think some redecorating would do the place some good but other than that...the staff is ALWAYS nice and welcoming! The manager, I think that's his position, is always very nice and seems to help out the staff from what I've witnessed! read more

This was by far-the worst meal I've had in a very long time. They couldn't even scramble eggs right. My mother said her eggs tasted "chemical like". My son wanted the celery and carrots to snack on. When they came- the carrots were oddly cooked. Typically when a carrot is cooked, you can push on it with your finger and it will smash the carrot-when you push on this thing.. It didn't smash, it made a weird dent on the baby carrot. Both myself and my mother were sick after eating here. Maybe it was a bad day for them, but I won't go back to see if they have good days. When the cupboard is bare and you don't want to get dolled up this is perfect. Food is very solid, everything made from scratch. Chicken pot pie special was delicious. I am a fan of their chili, the greek salad with grilled chicken, and have seen folks dining with me really enjoy the pea soup, turkey dinner, and patty melt. I had a baked potato instead of fries, could have made a meal out of just that. Food is served piping hot and the family always makes sure you are cared for with attention throughout your meal. Went to Mel's Diner for the first time for breakfast. Food was good, however server was a little snippy when my wife was taking a long time to order. Lunch and dinner menu seemed well proportioned and had a wide variety of dishes. All in all I would go back to sample the lunch and diner menu items. read more

This was a pretty decent Mel's Diner visit. Not stellar, but, I really am there just to eat. Learning my lesson from past Mel's visits, I ask for their best strongest coffee. It was a slow first refill but they caught on fast and kept my demitasse filled. I like my coffee!!! I was intrigued by so much and realized that, true to form, I will order something I won't normally make at home. Mediterranean Omelet. This 3 egg baby was filed with HUGE chunks of feta and spinach throughout! Black olives were not spared along with the diced tomatoes and red onion. This was done to my liking. I don't feel the feta was a premium quality, in hindsight, but what the heck do I know? It was served with a nicely done sliced breakfast potato dish and a real good sourdough bread at my request. Thick slices. Of course you have a variety of choices that looked equally good. Just didn't care for the carousel of Smuckers in front of me. I like homemade jams. However...all of this was at a reasonable price! The décor is classic Mel's with a 50's theme. The beer taps will pour at any hour for you here. I say, Go see for yourself. Eight of us neighbors dined at Mels on Christmas and it was wonderful. Our waitress was excellent and efficient. Three of us had the grouper, three the turkey and the other two: one a pizza and a grilled cheese and salad. Several of us even had room for dessert and that also was great. I've been to mels a number of times and always seem to get the crappiest server on the planet. Her name is Maria and you only see her twice throughout your visit. She takes your drink order/food order, serves your dinner, and then you don't see her for another 40 minutes until you ASK for your check. Food is always amazing, but the service SUCKS. January 28, 2016 was our first visit to Mel's Diner (Golden Gate) on Collier Rd and we can't say enough about the service and the food. Steven suggested we consider ordering fish and thankfully we both did! My salad was topped with a full size, fresh filet (Grouper) and it could easily have fed 2 people! Absolutely everything on the menu is fresh, containing no chemicals preservatives. (Their ketchup is organic, specially prepared, and terrific and the sausage is made, in-house, using a 126 yr old recipe.) Although I was full, I couldn't resist ordering the mini creme brûlée. The server, Steven, had made it fresh that day and I savored every spoonful. Unbelievably scrumptious! My only regret is they don't have a diner in Massachusetts! This is truly a diamond in the rough and I wish we could be among their regular customers. They are open 7 days/wk, 6-9 PM P.S. We didn't want to leave the next morning without having brunch at Mel's. Another 5 star meal, so I can personally recommend Mel's Signature Skillet. I couldn't leave without enjoying another mini creme brûlée and thanking Steven for his personal hospitality welcoming us both times. read more

Delicious food and good service. It is one of my favorites in Naples, as well as my grandparents who are regulars.

The food is good...but here we sit right now. We asked for a to go box at 645 and it has been over 15 minutes. Luckily they are catching us on a day when this is irritating but slightly humorous..yesterday I would have caused a scene. The couple across us have hair in their food and I lost my soda for ten minutes during my meal. No it didnt walk away..it just didnt come back until my husband so nicely reminded her she took it. It was also interesting when we were asked what we would like to order then right as I open my mouth to respond she yells at and runs over to another waitress across the place. The people behind us ordered all you can eat fish a while ago and havent seen her or the fish since. I dont know what's wrong with this place but being that its off season there are only five tables here..there is no reason for the madness. Three other employees just sit while shes running around like a loon. She wasnt a rude waitress..she was very nice but it was strange. Food good, service...oh boy! read more
