Requested service via the Yelp App. Melvin was very responsive and replied the next day. I explained that I was interested in replacing my split unit drain hose as it constantly backed up. Melvin happen to be in my neighborhood and since I was free stopped over at about 05:30 PM. After some discussion he proceeded to remove the duct cover and saw that the hose somehow come loose which created an bulge requiring the water to travel up and over a bump. Melvin was the first person to remove the duct and check the actual hose, everyone else simply vacuumed and blew out the hose to get the water to drain. Melvin straightened the hose, resized and glued the pipe joints (original installer never bothered to glue the joints), cleaned and checked the indoor and outdoor unit. The Mitsubishi split air conditioning unit suddenly broke on Sunday evening. On Monday morning, I sent out a request for a quote to three companies, and Melvin was the first to respond. That same day, we made arrangements to meet and Melvin came to our house to take a look at our A/C unit, by the next morning, Melvin sent us a quote and we arranged to have the A/C installed on Wednesday. Upon removing the A/C, it was discovered that smaller pipes needed to be installed and there were drywall issues from the installation of the original A/C that the original homeowner had installed (that the original A/C unit was covering). Melvin quickly called a handyman to come over and repair the drywall and waited for the drywall to dry (while working on the outside unit, etc.) and then continued with the installation inside. Melvin came back on Thursday morning to finish the installation. We highly recommend Melvin. He is very responsive, responsible, and reliable, and he does quality work. His customer service is great! Received a prompt response using the Yelp "Request a Quote" feature for cleaning of our split a/c units and our appointment was set for 2 days later. Upon arrival, Melvin assessed each of our split units and determined that only 2 required cleaning, as the other units are rarely used and checked out fine. Setup was professional and thorough. A specially designed plastic bag was used to collect the disinfectant/cleaner/water mixture. We were impressed with the quality of the cleaning as both units looked like new inside and out when he was finished, and the cold air coming out smelled fresh and clean. We considered other companies offering this service before we contacted Melvin. Some charge thousands of dollars and make all kinds of scary claims. "Your system is Level 3", they say. What the heck is Level 3? It's nothing more than a made-up scare tactic to convince otherwise smart people to pay outlandish sums of money for the same services that others like Melvin, offer for a fraction of the cost. Don't fall for those boogeyman claims, people. If someone tells you it will cost thousands of dollars to clean your a/c unit(s), get a second (or even third) opinion and quote. Could have been better. I have an older house, single wall construction. When they were installing the coverings to hide the tubing, they drilled right through the wall. Now I have a few holes on the inside of the house. Second, when they were finished, the remote was not programmed for me. Not a deal breaker but they know better than me how to set this up. I know this review is long overdue. However, compared to other companies that I've used, Melvin takes the extra step to make sure that your AC unit will be running smoothly. His prices are reasonable and he and his assistant will take the time to explain to you any issues that need to be fixed. I've had my unit for over 7 years (which was installed by another contractor). In the 5th year, the AC started spitting out water, which meant it needed to be serviced and cleaned. I was told by each contractor that serviced our AC unit that they cleaned the AC and everything is fine. However, eight to nine month's later, the same issue arises where water shoots out of the unit. I've had multiple companies come and do the daily one-year maintenance work so the AC could be at its optimum performance. They came the next day to change out the board, but the AC still didn't provide cool air. I was told they will contact their technician to look at the problem.
