I approached him and said, "I don't know much about gardening and I have a feeling you do! So I'm wondering if you could help me. I have hydrophobic soil, and my lawn is patchy." He said, "Well you shouldda used compost." I said, "Let's try again, and not start with 'you shouldda.'" I smiled and continued, "We had the seed put in in October, and they used compost. We will be reseeding and re-composting in the fall..." He interrupted and said, "Well I have some advice if you would LISTEN." I said, "I'm listening." He said, "I have some fertilizer with soil conditioner." I said, "Well, I used soil conditioner yesterday." I never raised my voice or took an attitude with him. I just said, "You have expertise, right? And I respect your expertise. Well, I also have expertise, in another field, and when people come to me for advice, I don't speak to them this way. So I'm going to leave now. Have a nice day." My grown son was with me. I asked him, "Am I crazy or was that man very rude?" My son said he couldn't believe the way Greg spoke to me. I looked him up afterward to be sure I wasn't naming the wrong person. It was the owner, Greg Dupuich. I will not be returning to this nursery, and I would not recommend going there as a woman. I have a feeling he would not have spoken to a man this way. Greg did not bother to take the time to understand my problem or ask basic diagnostic questions. When I got home I looked up some examples of questions a helpful specialist could have asked: -What is your soil type? -How deep down is the soil dry? -How old is the lawn? -Have you added any bark, mulch, or compost recently? -Have you tried using a liquid wetting agent or aerator yet? -Are you looking to buy a tool to fix this, or a chemical/soil product? Those are the kinds of questions a skilled, knowledgeable person would ask, and I would have appreciated it if he had taken the time. Beautiful nursery, but I will take my business elsewhere.

From colorful succulents, rare tropical plants, seasonal garden vegetables, seeds and the cutest selection of pottery. Everything is priced great. It's a one stop shop for me since I am a plant collector and Gardner. Every worker there made their way to ask if I needed assistance or gave me a compliment. They were all so sweet and welcoming. Im already excited to go back and shop when their fall/winter vegetables come in.

We stopped by Mr Flower, a small succulent shop off International, and were immediately greeted by the man himself. Contrary to popular belief, Mr Flower does not speak Vietnamese. He was very helpful and enthusiastically showed us a variety of beautiful plants ranging from $4 to $15 (we were only looking at small-midsized plants). After we found what we needed, he showed us some behind-the-scenes action of his operation (aka succulent propagation), and his wife came out to help us check out. They only accept cash. It was a pleasure working with this lovely couple and we will return soon!

Before even walking in, you're greeted with just a beautiful mural on the outside of the building. Then when you walk in, you're greeted by this beautiful greenhouse and plants all around and then you go into the actual plant shop, and it just keeps on going in terms of places to sit, a cute little coffee bar, a very beautiful altar looking space in the back and a couple of little seating areas that are super Vibey and damn gorgeous and sexy. I'm IN LOVE with a plant shop. There isn't any space in this place where you just can't be in all of anything that your eye catches. Everything is intentional and my senses just soaked everything up that this plant shop had to offer. I already knew what planted I wanted to take home with me and I think it was meant to be because it was one of the first plants that I saw before going into the plant shop. It was almost as if I was meant to go here and pick her up and be her mom. While I was there, I also picked up some incense and linen spray because, why not? I ordered a cardamom matcha, which was recommended to me by Simone and I loved my drink. I took my time and drank it in the corner of the shop just soaking up the vibes and just being around it is gorgeous green beings that give off so much positive energy. She went to the flower shop for the freshest and most beautiful flowers at dusk, and THEY WERE ALL SO BEAUTIFUL! Did I need the bouquet? No, but the bouquet elevated the look I had for that day. I could not imagine my special day without them. I'm so glad and grateful for Kat's creativity and blowing my expectations out of the water completely! Having recently opened at the beginning of April, it seems that not many people are aware of its location in southwest location. But it certainly is a hidden gem that is worth a visit or three! I popped into the store with my girlfriend (who'd been itching to visit it for some time now), and we were pleased to see a large array of plants neatly organized all along the walls of the store (including carnivorous plants!). Complementing the plants were plant-related apparel, artwork, and jewelry. Some body-care products (soap bars, lip balm, lotions and scrubs) and candles rounded out the selection. Overall, it's a really hip and trendy store with a good amount of things to check out! I also had the pleasure of speaking with Kat and Joe, who I believe are the storeowners. They're extremely welcoming and friendly, and we chatted for a bit on their store-opening (apparently, the store before them was a car-wash operation!). Kat let me know that there's an ongoing 25% sale on most of the plants in the shop till the end of April, so definitely come visit the store if you're interested in buying. I bought the following items: 1. Maranta Red - 6" ($18, discounted from $36 due to broken pot) 2. Pilea Moon Valley - 2" ($9.60, discounted from $12) 3. Fragranced Soap "Jade" by Ananda Body Care ($11). The plants in the store all look like they're in terrific condition so I definitely think that I'm getting great value here. All in all, I like what I'm seeing and I can't wait to come back again to continue supporting this BIPOC-owned store. Hoping to get a sundew when those are back in stock.
