We bought a new stove and microwave range hood and scheduled delivery. We were told between noon and 6pm. We called several times to try to get ETA with no answer and no returned calls. finally at 6pm we called the store. We were told the delivery was delayed about an hour. When the Delivery men arrived they told us that the store should have informed us that the truck broke down. Then they proceeded to inform us that the stove needed to be unhooked and they can't do it. Yes it's in the fine print on the receipt but we were told in store that they couldn't install...why weren't we told they couldn't unhook? My husband was able to do it, fortunately, and the Delivery men were very kind to assist with the physical moving and removal of the old stove. Generally poor customer service read more

The service was very good. And they had some ceramic tile I wanted that no other similar stores had. ( Some basic white tile in a size that I wanted, for my shower walls). Great price. Just left the store and again disappointed in their customer service. A girl name Dominika at the register was just a complete idiot it it seems. Basically on Sunday I got an item that was a certain price and I came back again today to buy it but it is more expensive. When I went to the register the price came off wrong so I asked her why that would be the case and she didn't even care to help me and she just kept asking if I wanted the item or not and didn't address my concern about the price difference.I kept asking is it the sale on a week to week basis? I wouldn't be on sale on Sunday but not on Thursday of the same week? She couldn't answer and just said do you want this or not?I don't think she is in the right field working in customer service. read more

We bought a new snowblower there yesterday and we are not happy!! Unlike Home Depot there is no help with assembly and no help troubleshooting afterwards! They did help us unbox it so it would fit in our vehicle for the ride home and that's where the customer service ended. When we had problems with it dying out and called the store for assistance, nobody answered the phone. Another drive to the store was futile, it can't be returned because it isn't in its original container and because we added gasoline (how else could we see if it worked?) They told us to take it to some authorized service dealer in Elgin (16 mi. away). That dealer said we would have to leave it there for a few days and if it wasn't a mechanical problem (I know, we could have goofed putting it together) we would have to pay for it again. We are older (60s and 70s) and can't lift the unit to put it in our car. Six inches of snowfall, $600 for a new snowblower and we're shovelling snow - Thanks MENARDS!! read more

On May 21st 2012 we went to Hanover park's Menards. I broke my ankle so I need an electric cart to get around. They said they had only ONE and its out for repairs. Not a sorry or how can we help you. Well we went to bathroom department. Where we waited after asking someone to get someone to help us. My friend is remodeling her bathroom. 10 min I said I have to sit so I was going to the car so i could sit. On the way out I asked for a manager. The store manger is off today so I talk to a lady front end manger that said she could do anything so I asked for a Menards complaint number see gave. Well you can't talk to a real person from that's number. I will probably never go to any Menards again. Home Depot does have electric carts and will be glad to help you with a smile what about that real people. And one star is too much!! read more

I purchased an item from Menard's ship to store service. It was a windmill. Everything worked out well until Christmas day when my son opened the item and it was broken. Despite having the receipt, I was told that since it was a seasonal item I would only get back the recent sale price. Despite having the receipt having paid full price. It was defective!! I asked several times to speak to the store manager, but I got the run around and different people "posing" as managers? Then I got this guy Matt who said he was the highest in command ... really?? Either way, the answer was always the same " you can tell whoever you want, but they will tell you the same thing" even as he handed me the Guest service number. Menards sold me a defective item. They didnt try to make it right..they didnt offer to call another store, or send it out to be fixed. They just wanted to refund my money at the lowest price. I hope anyone reads this, and takes it to heart and not shop there. And while this is not an autism thing ( my 20 year old son who loves windmills and has autism) I hope parents of children that have autism or actually anyone who cares about real customer service in this day will not give Menards their money. Purchased a 1650PSI model #870905 Snap On Pressure washer March of 2016. Had less than 10 hours of use when it died last summer. Snap On put their name on the product, but referred me to All Trade Tools when I contacted them. Thought that a Snap on product would be of good quality. Wrong! Save your money. I had a long story ready to put up here but its too long. This is a complaint to the big girl Heather. Just know- being rude to customers isnt going to get your anywhere. Laughing at customers when they leave because you know you have made them upset with your poor attitude isnt going to get you further in life. To sum it up- From my check out at the register to when I got in the car to go home it was 45 minutes due to Heather being too slow to get the the propane tank, and by the time I got my receipt because the machine to print it was not working-- it was 45 minutes. Thats just not right. And Heather has the audacity to laugh when I walk away? She should be fired. read more

Horrible customer service!! Went in to pick up a special order but as it turned out the box was too big to fit in our car, one of the employees recommended setting up a delivery for $50 and that seemed like a good idea so we headed over to the "delivery set up station." Literally waited in line for an hour (there were only 2 people ahead of us). Finally it was our turn and this INCREDIBLY slow worker (I won't mention his name because despite his slowness, he was polite) proceeded to set up our delivery. Not once did he mention the cost to us. When we headed to the register to pay for it, it rang up way more than expected. We told the cashier that it was supposed to be $50, that's what the guy told us. She then called over someone else, now I don't know if this person is a manager but her name is Becca and she has no business being in customer service. She was incredibly rude, didn't even bother to speak to us, just started shouting out that there are surcharges etc etc. Basically trying to belittle us in front of other customers without even listening to us. Her only suggestion at the end of it? Go back to the delivery set up station and speak to the guy that set it up for you. I told her we just spent an hour over there and I don't want to waste more time to which she SHRUGGED HER SHOULDERS and said "CAN'T HELP YOU." Bottom line, go to Home Depot. I've actually had a Menards employee at this location tell me in the past, go to Home Depot, they're a better store. That's the best help I've ever received from Menards. read more

I usually really like this menards. I was sadly mistaken for that last night. When I went to get in line, an employee cut me off holding a box of twizzlers. I maybe thought she needed to get to the cashier to help him or ask him a question. If only that was the case. She cut me off to get in line! So I get to stand behind this employee who just cut me off, and she starts to munch on her candy while waiting in line, oblivious to the fact that there is a customer behind her whom she just cut in front of. Annoying. I then had to wait even longer when her and the cashier started chit chatting away. I'm usually not one to complain, but when it was my turn up in line I said something to the cashier about it. All I got was a shoulder shrug. I'm not sure how these people were trained, but when I worked in retail, I learned that the customer is ALWAYS first. If she was already in line before me, no big deal she wants her candy, but she cut me off in order to get in front of me. Not cool. Horrible customer service people. read more

Not happy with this location. Went to get paint for my bedroom project and got really disappointed with both, customer service and the quality of the product. When asked the guy at the paint counter if someone can help me, he said that he is busy with a customer and someone will help me out soon. The gentleman who was being helped told him that he can wait and it's ok to help me out but the guy at the counter said to him: She can wait. What a nice way to treat a customer...After waiting for 15 minutes another guy showed up and was ready to take my order. Every question that I asked was answered: I don know, this is your house. I informed him about my plans and what I was looking for but he seemed not interested in my needs. I specifically asked for 1coat paint and of course to my surprise I needed to do a second coat as the quality of the paint was very poor (Dutch Boy). So after spending $100 for 3 cans of paint and a painting set I ended up really unhappy with the end result. Not planning on returning to this location. Gotta love Menards is correct! They sell it all from greeting cards and feminine products to cereal and chips to bottled water, candy, automotive products and obviously a slew of items to help build a shed or house and everything in between! Almost all of the team members at the registers are friendly and polite. The customer service desk people are friendly and get their jobs done quickly (you can only imagine how many cranky people they have to deal with). You may see a long return line but they usually call for backup and the line moves quickly. My favorite guy is one who works sometimes in lighting and wears cowboy boots. I usually seek him out because he has worked at Menards so long that he knows where almost everything is! I have been shopping at Menards Hanover Park for 19 years and love their new location. They have many employees whom have been working for that same amount of time. Keep up the great job Menards employees! read more

This place is HUUGGEEE! If you can't find it here, you probably won't find it anywhere. The selection of goods in the store is enormous, prices are low and there's plenty of service associates around to ask for assistance. I was never a fan of Menards until I walked into this one. I was on line and noticed there were several reviews on Yelp. I was quite surprised about some poor reviews, most stemming from poor customer service. I have been a regular customer of this Menards since it was relocated to its current site. I can honestly and gladly say my customer experience has been terrific ! For those customers with bad reviews, I offer a simple phrase: " Inspect Before You Expect " . Just because someone (on the phone) said the rental pick-up might be back in a half hour, It Doesn't Mean It Will Be Back Then ! Just because your trying to save money doing it yourself ( like we all are ), doesn't make Menards at fault "Because the Item Doesn't Fit In Your Car". Also, if you didn't know, " Delivery Expenses For Everything Are Expensive These Days". This goes the same for poor planners with small cars with no capacity hoping a fleet of delivery trucks awaits them. I've been to the West Chicago Menard's too ! It's just as big, but not even close to being as busy as the Streamwood location. If you have a complicated project, don't go on the weekend expecting someone to spend hours educating on What You Need & How To Do It ! The more people they hire to do that, the more expensive their pricing would become. Finally, if you do have a problem or issue, go see/ find a manager. Let them get involved and give you the customer service you deserve. Poor reviews for cashiers and non department heads, are not a true reflection of a store. Horrible customer service. I have been shopping Menards since they opened in Hanover Park. I shop there almost every week. There idea of customer service is to have employees say good morning to the customers, but that's were it ends. I have had several issues over the years and talked to the store manager Alan about the service at his store. THe most recent event was I stopped to purchase a few items on my way home from work. I went through the check out with a plasitc tool box among my items. The cashier is scanning items quickly and I'm trying to keep up with putting items in bags and I noticed she was opening the tool box to make sure I wasn't trying to steal anything. In the process she scanned one 35.00 item twice.I payed and on my way home I was thinking I spent more then I thought. I looked at my reciept and found the mistake. I turned around ( tried from work and not happy) and went back. I asked for the manager at the desk and was told she was on the phone ( personal cell phone ) and Liz asked what the problem was. I told her and she yelled to the cashier "how many did he buy". I told Liz that the problem with customers trying to bag there items is they can't see the scan process. Her reply was " it's a mistake". Now I think she could have gave me a little more than that. When I pointed out her lack of an apology she said " your too close, your in my space and your being aggressive" WOW . I asked someone else to get thestore manager (Alan) and when he showed up all he had to say was" I'll talk to her" No I find it oddd that while the store was making sure that I was not stealing in fact they stole $35 from me! People in that store are trained to do a small job but there is no sense of real customer service. Big stores do fail maybe Menards will be next. read more

We ordered 185 - 40# patio blocks from this store for a patio we were having enlarged. Our contractors went to pick up the patio blocks - they had receipts CLEARLY showing the sku # we paid for - Menards loaded their truck with the WRONG patio blocks. We were not home when our contractors got back & they started laying the patio as we had pre-arranged for them to do. When we got home late that night, we saw that the wrong blocks had been laid - they still had at least 2 more days of work to finish the patio but now this caused us an additional 2 days of labor @ $600/day as they had to pull up & re-lay the blocks in a pattern we could live with since the new blocks were different than the ones we had already in place from our previous patio. Menards takes NO RESPONSIBILITY for their error in giving our contractors the wrong patio blocks & refuse to even help pay for the additional labor - we even offered to take it in Menards credit but they won't budge. If we hadn't given our contractors the receipts to prove what we paid for I could understand the error but it was definitely Menards' error but we are stuck paying the additional labor. The patio turned out okay but was NOT in the pattern we picked out & we spent a lot of money to get an "okay" patio. I am very disappointed in Menards - they're nothing but a big box store who don't care for their customers. read more

Another horrible experience at Menards. Menards gave me the option to buy a shed over the phone to get the 11% rebate which ended that day. Of course, they processed my payment that day. When I went to pick it up a few days later with a generous friend with a pick up truck, they did not have it in stock. They did not pull it off the shelf when I purchased it 5 days earlier. They said I could rent a truck or come back when they get it in stock?!? Not an option when I don't own a truck. I was not informed by Menards that the product may not be available if I don't pick it up that day. No one at Menards said for me to call before I come to check availability. What is really sad is that Matt and Bob in Building Materials made this my fault and never apologized for the huge inconvenience to me, my family, and my friend with a truck. Since this information is written in fine print at the bottom of the paperwork that I did not get when I paid over the phone. This is not my first bad experience with Menards; I guess its back to Home Depot. read more
