I hired this concrete company for two separate projects, including backyard pavement work. Unfortunately, both experiences were stressful and uncertain. The main issue was that we would agree on a scope of work and price, but after the job started, he would later complain about the price or try to change the terms. On one project, he initially offered a discount if I paid cash, but about a week later said he could no longer honor that arrangement. I agreed to pay the full amount because he is also my neighbor across the street and I wanted to keep things friendly. I also asked him to repair damaged stucco under my patio doors, and he agreed to include that work. While I was traveling, he sent me a bill for the full amount, and I paid assuming the agreed work had been completed. When I returned, I found that the stucco repair had not been done. I asked him again to fix it. He sent a long message complaining about the price and scope of the work, apologized, and said he would fix it -- but he never did. After dealing with repeated complaints, uncertainty around agreed pricing, and unfinished promised work, I gave up. I would not hire him again. In my opinion, there was too much inconsistency and stress for work that should have been handled clearly and professionally. read more

WOW! These guys are fantastic. We had a broken up patio due to HOA tree roots. Mike gave us a preliminary quote, then when we were ready to fine tune what we wanted in the patio - he showed up and gave us suggestions and options. Show up on time, have correct tools, put safety cones out and make sure their trucks weren't blocking any neighbors. They even cleaned up everything when they were done. As a result of a main water line leak, some of our concrete walkway required a repair. Let me start off by saying that these guys are fantastic. I had a section of driveway about 5 feet by 16 feet that was sinking and needed to be broke out and re poured. Don came at the time he promised for the estimate and told me what needed to be done to keep it from happening again and quoted me a very reasonable price. I was concerned that the job might be too small for some of the cement contractors but when I contacted Don Mendenhall who owns Mendenhall Concrete he said he would be out that same afternoon to take a look at what had to be done. The reason I made the call to Mendenhall Concrete was because of their 5 star rating on Yelp. Once Don showed up, to look at the job, I immediately understood why his company had earned their 5 star rating. He explained what he thought needed to be done, and exactly how it would be done and said he would email me a bid the next day. he was true to his word and the bid seemed very reasonable, so we asked him to go ahead with the work. Don kept in contact with us regarding their start date on a regular basis which we appreciated. They managed to complete the entire job in one day as Don had initially promised.
