It's Thursday at 8:50 and I went in and ordered a Chai latte. The girl set it on the the table and it was overflowing and the sloppiest drink I have ever seen. I asked if they could give me a drink that's not overflowing and they said,"I am a big boy and I can't get the extra of it." Great little local coffee shop in Venice about a block east off the strand with delicious drinks and pastries. There was a small line but it went quickly. Ordered an almond chai latte & mocha with a chocolate croissant. We sat outside on a cute carved wooden bench and enjoyed the sun and our little coffee break. Definitely recommend. read more

I enjoy a not too sweet late and they know how to balance coffee and sweet. This is exactly the ambiance that you know provides a great cup of coffee. This is typical of a place where you see a guy behind the machine with a handlebar mustache serving you coffee. They know what they are doing here and its working. They have a limited menu but that's exactly what a good place does when all of the options are good. Coming here in the morning it's right off Venice Beach and it was much busier than expected. A line out the door was a little shocking for a coffee place but it went pretty quick. We just got two of their different coffee drinks and both were great. They had some pretty hipster items like a drink with activated charcoal. While I'm sure they are good, we like just a more simple drink. They use high quality fresh roasted beans which is how to start with a great cup of coffee and the girls working were really nice. We came here twice and both times we wanted to sit and drink ours outside. They have two tables outside and maybe two others inside which were taken but if you're here early enough or at an off time you'll be able to relax there with your drink. Wanted to crab some coffee on my way home since I was in the area. Stopped in because the reviews and the pictures of the Spanish Latte caught my eye. Very hipster coffee shop off the Venice boardwalk. Apt of bums like more than you would normally see but definitely doesn't hurt there business as they had a steady flow. The guy who took my order was pretty cool. Very energetic for 8am and showed me the special coffee menu. Explained the difference in my drinks and even offered me a vegan option. Now the young lady who finished off my drink and the cashier station was snippy and rude. She didn't speak and seemed to only be concerned with the regulars that walked in instead of me. I waited for a greeting or even a total for my drink. All she said is insert your card. Employees get stuck in a robot stage that simple customer service is lost. I just stood there quietly and waited for some kind of greeting. She told me what was she suppose to say. I guess nothing . Music pretty loud and grungy. 3 stars coffee was ok, vibe was a bit much between the homeless and kids playing in the coffee shop I wouldn't be back. Too loud to study or have a meeting. I love this coffee shop! My boyfriend and I were lured in because he had spotted one of his favorite celebs posting about it on instagram, the drinks looked so good so we had to stop by! Luckily, we came during one coachella weekend and because Venice was pretty dead, we were able to find a parking spot right out front - I imagine it would normally be tougher to find affordable parking in this prime spot. First impressions were great here! We walked in and it was a clean, cool looking coffee shop. Music playing on the record player(nice touch). When we walked up to the counter, the barista took our orders and he was so nice, I wish I would have caught his name to give him the credit. I love you, man, but you've changed. Sure, rents are too damn high and those credit card charges are a bitch. But this morning there was two people queued in front of me and I walked out 20 minutes later $4 poorer with a small black coffee. Love a conversation and a connection. It's important to smell roses and enjoy your craft but sheesh... when you're trying to get a morning black coffee it should not be so painfully slow and should not cost more than a sandwich. I used to think it was cute how you didn't have wifi so people aren't clogging table writing their next screenplay. Or hip that they only offer almond or whole milk... until I realized that it's less hip to charge $1 for the almond version considering 75% of Americans are lactose intolerant but...yeah ok. There's a lot of head scratchers here. And it's not just today... Menotti's has suffered a lingering cold thats turned into pneumonia over the course of the past year. I have to say I come to Menottis pretty frequently because not only do they have amazingly crafted coffee but the vibe there is a great place to have a conversation and people watch. I'm in LOVE with the Cafe Rico...the mix of coffee and orange rind is perfection! The baristas there really take the time to make sure your cup is made with care and love with impeccable attention to detail. Also their selection in music is on point too. They'll have some records playing which makes Menottis the best place to meet up a friend over a Cafe Rico or a Spanish Latte. For breakfast, I usually opt for the granola with milk. Epic espresso joint right by the beach. Very low key vibe with music on the turnstiles filling the shop. Pretty much drinks only, no food. But, the coffee was most excellent! Top notch coffee and espresso, friendly vibe and baristas, a tad bit on the pricier side. I live on the east side of Los Angeles so don't often get to frequent Venice as much as I would like to. My first visit to Menotti's however has me itching to come back again and again in the future just to grab a shot of espresso. This place is truly a gem for delicious coffee without all the hoopla we see in many shops today. Pros: The vibe matches the venice community perfectly. Close to the boardwalk and it just feels like a laid back/chill environment in the shop. They have a vibe of minimalism but they don't go crazy minimal as some other shops where it may seem almost sterile. Both baristas were really nice and have amazing attitude towards their guests. Being a barista myself, I know that dialing in, making great coffee and being able to be super sociable to guests all at the same time is not as easy as it looks. However, Menotti's was able to do that and much more. Truly a flawless representation of an amazing community focus coffee shop crushing the guest service game. Drinks were great. I got a shot of espresso to stay and a coffee to go. The flavor of the espresso was one of the best I have ever had. My palate isn't the best out there but I could definitely discern that the shot was very complex in flavor with a floral and sweet tone. The cup of coffee was also really good with fruity notes. Cons: A tad bit expensive for the coffee as I rarely see a 12oz batch brew over $3.50 (Menotti's was $4). It doesn't mean that it wasn't worth the price as it was still really good, but just that Menotti's is probably better suited for a special/every once in a while type visit rather than an everyday ritual for people with a budget. Overall I will definitely visit again and try their Cortado and Spanish Latte. Definitely best to go early to avoid a line on the weekends as it can get pretty crowded really fast. read more

I've tried this place 3 times. Each one a horrible experience. The cocky, owner who thinks he so cool is such a prick and obnoxious. He is an condescending when you ask for things a bit different. One time I got an Iced Coffee and it came half filled with creamer, I returned it immediately and the girl behind the counter gave me a snooty look and said next time say less creamer. Are you kidding me less creamer it was half way filled. The last time I went I had a Latte and honestly it tasted like warmed up milk. The balance of their drinks are off. This place should be moved inland and Venice should bring in a business that welcomes the novice and expert coffee drinker with kinder service and not a selfish owner. This is the best rated coffee in this area for a reason. I was able to get a short americano with a lovely sweet espresso in the middle of a tourist trap. I didn't need milk or sugar and got to enjoy my coffee in a peaceful environment. My friend purchased a really well made Cortado that they warned would be sweetened unless requested otherwise. My friend wasn't into that and opted to avoid the simply syrup. He really appreciated that attention to detail. read more

With the charm of this little place located so close to the beach, it's hard not to slow down and enjoy the people and the view with a quality cup of Joe in your hand. The barista was extremely nice, and recommended a very tasty Spanish latte (I thought I was special, but after reading the other reviews, it seems like it's recommended to everyone). The latte was very balanced with the almond milk, and not acidic at all. Menotti's has been a longstanding fixture alongside the Venice boardwalk, though not originally a coffee shop, it has become one of LA's must stop coffee destinations. I've read a little bit about it on blogs and such, but I wasn't completely sold on making the visit until recently. After watching a short video on YouTube which documents their approach on the espresso drinks, cortado and gibraltar, I knew I had to make the trek. Made sure to put it on my b-day itinerary; given I knew I would need a place to get caffeinated after breakfast. I missed "Nicely", whom I believe is the head barista at this place and the person who made an appearance on that video I previously mentioned. Would have been nice to meet the guy and have a chit chat about the differences in each drink. Regardless, the young girl at the counter poured us some excellent cortados and provided some friendly service. The drinks were carefully made and looked beautiful in their small silver cups - graceful milk pour for sure. Taste was on point, as expected. There's only a few places I would trust for good coffee in Venice, all of which are chains I've already tried.
